it's got the goblin from spiderman in this movie i don't see how it could possibly be bad in any way possible i haven't watched it yet but it's got good remarks from famous people so i bet it's gonna be good just like the northman movie that people said was bad but was great

By far the least well accomplished Eggers film. It doesn't do anything particularly interesting with the material, and every aspect of it was better executed by Murnau, Herzog or plenty of other Dracula adapters. There isn't a different perspective or vision to this new version, and the most interesting parts of it didn't really have any direct correlation to Nosferatu (I think that few things regarding the handling of Orlok work). It made me wish Eggers just took his thin, barely developed psychosexual themes and made another movie with it: similar setting, gothic atmosphere and all, different story. But to be honest not even these themes are all that interesting, since all they are doing is transforming the subtext of the originals and making it into text (But that's apparently the general perception of what "elevated horror" needs to be, themes have to be evident or thinly veiled behind obvious symbolism for horror to be dealing with "important" or "serious" ideas. But I digress).I'm also surprised to announce that it didn't even work on an atmospheric or visual level. Some compositions are ok enough (the best visual of the movie is an homage to Murnau's Faust), but the color palette is horrible. I feel like it would have looked much better if it was in black and white. It still wouldn't save the movie though, because the whole narrative is presented through a monotone that I just wasn't able to sync with. There is no build-up towards anything. Eggers seems to think that every moment needs to be intense and epic, an eternal constant of maximum everything. It's just constantly trying hard to be creepy and eerie and dark, all of the time. The reason The Witch and The Lighthouse work is that there is enough time for the story and the characters to breathe, so the intense moments have some weight to them. If everything is intense and intensity is all you have to offer, such intensity is immediately rendered meaningless. Every character in this just made me wish I was watching Schreck or Lugosi or my dear and beloved Dwight Frye. Dafoe is pretty good and the last half is much better than the first, but this was still an overall frustrating experience. I dislike almost every decision regarding Orlok. I do like the dogs I guess, but that's it. After I first saw The Witch in theaters in 2015 I would eagerly await for a new Eggers project year after year, but since his last two films it seems that I've been more and more disconnected from his style and disinterested in his approach to filmmaking. I'm glad Nosferatu is doing much better than The Northman in terms of box-office because it means Mr. Eggers will be able to still find financial support for his films and I like it when people do what they like to do. But I can't really say I'm as excited for his future projects as I used to be. I'll still check it out in cinemas though. I swear I really wanted to like it.

This was such a complete waste of time, how this qualifies as a horror movie idk, went to the theatres to watch with my gf and i left feeling embarrassed cause of bad the movie was. It was all over the place and while the acting is solid it cant save a terrible plot

An oustanding film. Not only Eggers best work since VVitch, but possibly the best Dracula adaptation ever put to film.

"Nosferatu" (2024) is a movie written and directed by Robert Eggers. He previously made some very stylish and moody films like "The Lighthouse", "The Northman". In case you have enjoyed those works, you will most like enjoy "Nosferatu" as well, because this film is pure Robert Eggers. This film is very well made in terms of set designs, costumes, make up effects, cinematography. Pacing on the other hand is not its strongest aspect - this film takes its time to tell a story. Acting by Lily-Rose Depp was amazing - she stole the film in my opinion. And while some might call it overacting, this type of acting is common in Robert Eggers films - it creates style of the film. The thing i missed in this film the most was Nosferatu himself. I mean his scenes are good, voice acting was great, but there wasn't really that much of a character - he is more like a screen presence here. Overall, "Nosferatu" is in part with other Robert Eggers films. Those who are looking for a horror movie here will not find one in common way. But those who enjoyed previous films from this director will find another film in same style. Its a good film, but not his best yet.

The film is lavishly designed and has a consistently authentic and oppressive atmosphere. Since it is based on Bram Stoker's Dracula, a comparison with Francis Ford Coppola's film of the same name is almost inevitable. Even though Robert Eggers' film is structured differently and speaks its own cinematic language, Nosferatu remains a runner-up in a direct comparison.

Worst ending ever. The cinematography is nice most of the time but sometimes it looks cartoony. The crazy thrall is hilarious. Willem Dafoe is great. Depp's daughter is good at convulsing but not much else and her massive cranium is distracting. The ending is awful. I like dark and evil things for entertainment, but I know the difference between right and wrong. Only a wicked person would write this filth. Don't waste your time.

Horribly cast movie. BORING. Move on with your life and don't waste your time. It's not even an art movie, it's just boring.

Why don’t they speak German in Germany? It’s 2024, how are subtitles still such a problem in mainstream films? You want it to be accurate then speak the correct language. Like Smile (2022) everything is framed in the middle like they are following a trend or making it easier to watch vertically on a phone. It’s making my eyes lazy, they just stare into the middle. The blocking is especially awkward and unnatural. It has a very unengaging start which quickly made me wish I was watching Nosferatu (1922). I didn’t like the casting. It is so slow, it takes 30 minutes to get interesting but then quickly stops being interesting abruptly. I can’t think of a more pretentious film in recent years. It looks beautiful though. I think it’s so inaccessible for general audiences including myself. It’s hard to tell what’s going on sometimes. This film dances between laughably pretentious overacted nonsense that I suspect won’t age well like Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) and actually quite entertaining horror. It’s a shame there’s way more of the former than the latter. It’s so hard to engage as it’s so choreographed and devoid of personality. I regard this as beautiful candy and nothing more. This film reminds me of a hard videogame level that you are determined to finish but no matter how hard you try you can’t finish it and it never ends. I eventually finished it after like six attempts.

This is a superbly crafted yet highly disturbing take on the most famous vampire novel ever written. It's rich with believable period detail and noteworthy performances. Not for the squeamish!

Nosferatu (2024) is one of the most beautiful, jaw dropping (no joke, my jaw was DROPPED) movies of 2024, with some outstanding cinematography, acting, music, special/practical effects, wardrobe, locations, hair/makeup, etc. The way everything is shot is STUNNING, and how shadows are used, and the lighting. Everyone brings their A+ game from Lily-Rose Depp to Nicholas Hoult to Willem Dafoe to Emma Corrin to Aaron Taylor-Johnson to Simon McBurney to Ralph Ineson to SIR Bill **** Skarsgård who brings a new, though familiar sound and look to the Count! The music is also just....awesome and deeply emotional. The dialogue and how everyone delivered it was masterful, and the sound design...music to my **** EARS!!Scares and blood!PLEASE see it in theaters for the ultimate **** till we get that extended cut!PS. Every connection/recreation of a moment from the 1922 movie had me in tears, extremely worrying, happy, and scary smiles, and **** much joy. Thank you to Robert Eggers, and everyone involved!! You all killed it, and made something on par with the original! Cannot wait for future generations to enjoy the 100 year anniversary of this masterpiece!!

Just as Eggers' previous creations, Nosferatu is a poem of cinematography. Faithful to the atmosphere of the original, with excellent costumes, sets and acting.

Why couldn't they just follow Bram Stoker's book correctly ? Why change all names ? Too tightfisted to pay for the copyright ? Damn. Book isn't as good as advertised, but this. What a shame, just read the book.

The directing leans heavily into gothic horror, which works for setting the mood, but sometimes it feels more focused on aesthetics than storytelling. Visually, the film is stunning. The cinematography is easily its strongest aspect, with haunting lighting, deep shadows, and eerie textures that create a cold, unsettling world. The acting is another highlight, with Bill Skarsgård delivering a terrifying and tragic performance as Orlok. The rest of the cast holds their own, adding depth to the horror. However, the script is where things get shaky. Some moments shine, but others feel drawn out or unnecessarily stiff, making the film drag in parts. The score does a solid job of building tension, though it doesn’t always hit as hard as it could. One of the strangest creative choices is the inclusion of an oud and belly dancing in Transylvania during Thomas Hutter’s arrival. The scene is heavily choreographed, with villagers giving him a grand welcome that feels eerie and almost ritualistic. It’s a visually striking moment, but the film never explains its purpose. The oud and dance are Middle Eastern cultural elements, not something tied to Transylvania’s history, and after this elaborate introduction, they are never mentioned again. A single question about it is quickly dismissed, making it feel like the filmmakers threw it in for exoticism without considering whether it made any sense. Nosferatu (2024) is a visually impressive and well-acted film, but its slow pacing, script issues, and odd cultural inaccuracies hold it back. If you’re a fan of classic vampire horror, it’s worth a watch, but it doesn’t do much to stand out from the dozens of Dracula films that came before it.

Surprisingly bad for an Eggers' product. "The Witch" and "The Lighthouse" are auteur-level pieces of art but this was pointless. I guess part of the problem is that there has been a LOT of Dracula since Murnau's 1922 film. It's simply not enough to have exquisite production design and cinematography; the rest of it has to coalesce also. Lily-Rose Depp cannot act; I actually felt sorry at times for the person (not the character). There are interiors during the film where the other actors literally look lost in the scene. I'm a big fan of Bill Skarsgård but Count Orlok ain't much competition for Pennywise the Clown.

Apesar de gostar da temática de vampiros e o filme retratar bem a história de Nosferatu, faltou um algo a mais, um desenvolvimento melhor de alguns personagens e uma explicação melhor da história, para aqueles que não conhecem a lenda.

Where to start with nosferatu...I neex to admit, i never watch, yet ,the original it tries to homage. But i am fan of the dracula character, snd watched hundred of movies about it. This one, was, in a few words, the most BORING WELL MADE movie i saw in a long **** story its pretty familiar all its runtime, and even if the cinemayography its impeccable and the acting its decentq to good **** Boring its the worst a horror movie can be...I am sure it will have lits of fans and sure that i may look at it different after watching the first film. But as it is, this was just a boring evening at the movies

Beautifully shot movie with great visuals and sound. The Nosferatu story was always a slightly different version of Dracula but the way this movie is told, shot and the acting is just top notch and what elevates this story. To summarize, great cinematography, great sound design, great acting.

It is the worst interpretation of "woke" Dracula I have ever witnessed. Please do not waste your time or money.

The Vampyre has indeed coming, in my opinion, Eggers has crafted the most breathtaking adaptation of Stoker's work while simultaneously delivering a masterful remake of Murnau's classic, Skarsgård's transformation into Nosferatu deserves significant recognition, he is essentially the Andy Serkis of live action, from his haunting voice to the chilling makeup, the eerie atmosphere, and his commanding presence, Nosferatu in this film feels both grand and essential, Lily-Rose Depp is a standout, as is the rest of the cast, each contributing to the film immersive and unsettling world, even if you've seen the original and know the story by heart, Eggers exceptional filmmaking style breathes new life into it, offering some of the most disturbing yet mesmerizing visuals and performances, despite a few moments that drag, Nosferatu stands as a shining example of how a story can be retold with brilliance, a remake masterpiece.

Well produced and acted remake of Nosferatu shows you Egger's impressive capability as a filmamaker. One negative side of this flick is the fact that this is yet another remake of 'Dracula', hence while the characters may not know what to do, we the audiences know where the story is heading.

I had pretty high expectations for this film, considering how legendary its source material is and how great director Robert Eggers' previous work is, and yet the film even exceeded those expectations. The visual design, sound, effects and costumes, everything is at an extremely high level. The film is not perfect, there are some lengths in the second half in particular, and there could have been a little MORE to create a better arc of suspense. The remake of the cult classic "Evildead" and its successor had shown in an impressive way how this can be done, but for what this film wants to be, in my opinion it is outstanding.

Overall a solid "Dracula" movie but nothing to really make it stand out. Good cast, especially Lilly-Rose, and excellent visuals and atmosphere. The pacing and direction is where it was a let down. Maybe it's nostalgia, but I still prefer the 1992 Dracula and 2000's Shadow of the Vampire. Just felt like those films had more "heart" in them.

Really enjoyed it. Didn't have many expectations but was really surprised at the level of artfulness and creativity. Great performances and super stylish. The movie really takes its time but it doesn't feel gratuitous

This film does a good job of giving you the feel. Emma steak of the old fashioned movie. The makeup is very well done in this film. All the sets in lighting are needed to give you that ambience, the original horror. The acting from Nicholas Holt. Is very good In lily rose debt does a decent job in her room. Other supporting actors do a good job play they're roles. The issue I have is that the story does not give you a good example of how much time passes it seems quite rushed.. ButBill Skarsgard plays another fantastic monster and he gives the feel of the evil and depraved character he plays. Not a repeat watch but you should go out and watch it.

Superb cinematography, talented cast and high production quality do their best with a limited screenplay and some pacing issues. I live a slow burn horror but this film drags its heels before hitting you with the horrific moment which almost defeats the point of any build up at all. Direction is interesting but the overall choreography feels unfocused instead delivering very technical shots one after the other. Perhaps a shorted, punchier cut of the same movie would've worked better here. Genre fans will enjoy this regardless of its shortcomings.

We have Dracula (1992) at home. Seriously, just go watch Coppola's movie. The plot is pretty much the same, except it looks better, sounds better, cast better and paced better.

Visually and technically, Nosferatu is a masterpiece. I really appreciated both the physical sets and practical effects used. The makeup and prosthetics design, especially for Count Orlok, was insanely good. Bill Skarsgård as the titular Nosferatu/Orlok looked unrecognisable in his role. It is with thanks to the makeup department, as well as the overall impressive work of the costume department, that really bought this character to life and looking as haunting as he did. The spooky, gothic and chilling score also helped set the tone of Nosferatu right away which carried on throughout the movie. This was a real highlight for me as it conjured up a grim and unsettling atmosphere that felt almost tangible. The grey and dreary colour palette only helped further the gorgeous cinematography. I could ramble on forever about how beautifully crafted this film was! Just with any vampire story, Nosferatu is brimming with sexual tension and desire. Of course, vampires have always been used as a symbol of forbidden lust, desire and love, but Robert Eggers really puts these themes at the forefront of his retelling. The tension between Orlok and Ellen (a brilliant Lily-Rose Depp) was palpable which in turn made the third act even more satisfying. The cast is the main reason for Nosferatu being such a great success. As I have touched on above, Skarsgård is equal parts scary and seductive - both important qualities for such a character. The constant reminder of him whether in the form of shadows, shallow focus or his voice calling out to Ellen, meant that he was always in the periphery of your mind. Depp was utterly fantastic and enjoyable in her role. I was continually impressed by her range and ability throughout. She completely sold the terror her character was enduring with perfect line delivery and body language. Nosferatu could have easily crumbled if not for such a convincing lead performance. Also crucial for her role was the chemistry shared between herself and Skarsgård. Frankly, their chemistry puts everyone else’s to shame - which, coincidentally, is one of the reasons I couldn’t give a perfect score. Other notable performances from the rest of the cast include: Simon McBurney and Emma Corrin. Unfortunately, I did not score Nosferatu a perfect 10/10 and here’s why. I thought the chemistry between Depp and her on-screen husband, Nicholas Hoult, was pretty lacklustre. I know this is intended to be inferior to her relationship with Orlok, but it made some parts of the story unrealistic. I also wasn’t a fan of the overly fluid camera movements in certain scenes. I know this was a deliberate choice, and it succeeded in making you feel uneasy and disorientated, but I wasn’t a fan! Some moments I felt as if I was watching a video game as opposed to a film.

Disturbing and aesthetically excellent film with great performances and a dreadfully disturbing atmosphere. The darkness seems to be all consuming make it an unpleasant experience to sit through. And some of the dialogue seems undercooked. But the technical achievements of the film are undeniable.

Ever wondered why it took 102 years for a director to film a remake? BECAUSE THIS STORY IS BORING AS HELL! I can't believe that the director of one of my favorites horror movies, The Lighthouse, made such a terrible movie. Unlike his previous movies, there was too many scenes, CGI, dialogues, characters, extras, with a fast pace was too fast so it could reach the biggest audience possible. What a shame.

Pure horror. How Eggers manages to masterfully direct a camera is beyond me. How the DP work is some of the best I’ve ever seen (if not THE best for a horror film) is also beyond me. The narrative calls for bleak and morbid colors reflecting a plagued Germany, and yet the way every shot is composed is like a painting I'd hang on my wall

Was surprised at how much I thought this movie was average at best. There were some interesting moments and it was directed and shot beautifully which gave it extra points but I found myself not interested in pretty much any of the characters.

As always with Eggers Nosferatu is visually mesmerizing. The sets, cinematography, and atmosphere are beautiful and haunting. But I agree screenplay is plodding and the dialogue is stiff and seems under-developed. There pacing is repetitive and there's not much story arc. The acting is generally very good but they aren't given much to work with. As others have said the 2hr+ duration seems protracted; it should have been about 30 minutes shorter. While I appreciate it aesthetically Nosferatu doesn't much much of an emotional impression with me.
