Funny, sentimental, and anchored as always by Tony Shalhoub’s “defective detective,” it’s a worthy follow-up that goes beyond just being a nostalgic exercise.

Just as pure fan service, it’s a welcome return. If you liked “Monk” you’ll obviously want to watch it — and if you’ve never seen “Monk,” you should watch “Monk.” (The entire series is streaming on Peacock as well. It’s a lot of fun.)

I loved this movie. I still watch reruns to this day. Initially I didn't know where the story was going, but I absolutely loved where it ended up. I think Monk got his well deserved award. I hope they start to make new episodes again.

Why the hate? What did you all expect? I liked visiting the world of Monk one more time. It was fun.

Even with a runtime twice as long as the typical "Monk" episode, "Mr. Monk's Last Case" has the same breezy pacing — mostly.

Even though the cast helps to nurture the sense of nostalgia in the film, it doesn't prevent the screenplay from failing to match the tone of the OG series.

If the central mystery is unsatisfying, Shalhoub remains the reason to watch. He imbues this difficult, ridiculous man with so much humanity in a performance that is both clenched and silly.

The Monk reunion is a film made for fans of the TV show — it doesn't try to go beyond that, which is ultimately good news.

Was fun to see everyone back, I don't think after a decade away from Monk you want to come back and see him on the verge of committing suicide. Villain and mystery were very weak.

JUST GO WATCH THE LITTLE COVID SPECIAL THEY DID; IT IS INFINITELY BETTER THAN THIS SCAM I hate to be negative as "Monk" is my favourite show of all time, but the movie is not only unwatchable it's a disgrace to the whole franchise. The tone of the movie is just off. It's dark but not in a Monk-y way. Adrian feels completely out of character and is a shell of his former self. Tony Shalhoub is obviously still a great actor but the script is - in my opinion - utterly disfunctional. The plot of the case makes no sense and at various points the viewer will faceplant at the actions of the killer. I'm not gonna spoil it here, but there some heavy mistakes and inlogical actions taking place that will stick out as a sore thumb to anyone watching the movie. Also some of the supporting actors' characters are non-sensical, but I won't go into detail, just know that outside the main four it drops off quick. There is one genuinly good joke in the whole movie and everyone who has seen will know which one I mean. But sadly the rest of the film is aggressively unfunny and really mean in a way the show would never be. All in all I can say I have no desire to ever rewatch the movie as it is offensive to any Monk fan and really weak as a stand alone experience. I have never created an account to write such a blunt review, but there’s a first for everything . Mr. Monk’s Last Case was a waste of time. No direction or cohesive thought in the writing of this movie. The dialogue between the characters was empty. Big fan of Monk.. but this was overwhelmingly disappointing. I can’t believe the director thought the Final Cut made sense. Anyone who likes this film can’t think for themselves. Still love the show Monk, but this film was a total flop. No comedy, no foundation. Transitions from scene to scene made no sense. And wardrobe for Molly could’ve been better on the windy bridge seen.. esp for hiding her pregnancy. Just saying.
