Masters of the Universe is a thrilling ride featuring high-octane action sequences and performances fueled by an infectious, heroic heart that make the audience root for the “good guys” to emerge victorious. Travis Knight and team have successfully captured the magic of 80’s cinema with explosive energy, creating a film that will make you feel like a kid again, ready to shout, “I have the power.”

The zany tone of this appealing action-comedy-fantasy combo is a lot like that of 2023’s very good “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” in how it goofily distills high nerdery for the masses and has a blast doing so.

I grew up with the action figures, comics and german audio plays. Only learned about the cartoon series later in life. I was a bit wary of this at first because of some changes like race swapping men-at-arms, gender bending roboto etc. But in the end i LOVED this movie. It just works and it is a ton of fun. Yeah it is not perfect, too much comedy at times, and some things could have been better. But i has heart, it is fun and acutually made us lough out loud at times and some of the action is really cool. I really hope there will be a sequel.

I'm a cynical woke-hating film snob and I cannot believe how much I enjoyed this movie! Great time at the theater. Giving it a 10/10 because I really can't imagine a better He-Man movie, especially in 2026!

The new message is nice, but the most crucial element is the carefully calibrated tone, of light irony and deep reverence, which will appeal to Gen X and elder millennials, who have developed a nostalgic, yet winking appreciation for the material.

He-Man returns for a derivative, comedy-fuelled action-fantasy that never takes itself seriously, for better or worse. It's much too slow off the mark, but there's infectious affection for the source material and, like him or loathe him, Jared Leto steals the show as Skeletor.

The movie might have worked better if it had just gone full Saturday morning cartoon with fewer self-deprecating jokes. But that would have required more conviction about what everyone was making in the first place.

Masters of the Universe has a beating heart—thoughtfully recontextualizing He-Man as a different presentation of masculinity—and it’s bolstered by a cartoon-perfect representation of the original cartoon’s menagerie of characters and their powers. But the poorly executed, jingling-key cheap elements piled up around that heart are enough to clog it until it explodes.

This reboot of the 1980s fantasy cartoon keeps telling us how absolutely right we are to not be enjoying it. Who am I to argue?

Loved every minute. Fantastic nostalgia blended with brilliant modern family friendly action. An old fashioned romp. Don't overthink it. Just go enjoy.

Me pareció entretenida, pero esperaba mucho más. Tiene una historia algo genérica y los efectos especiales pudieron estar mejor. Tiene pocos personajes realmente memorables, pero aun así se deja ver y funciona como una aventura ligera.

Nostalgia bait? Yes, but only to a certain section of the movie-going audience. He-Man is not exactly a popular pop culture hero for the present generation. The only glimpse we got of their universe was the animated series on Netflix, which wasn't all that memorable. The simplicity and the quirk of the original cartoon is unbeatable. I was happy to see some of that translated for the live action movie. Adam was never transported to Earth as we know it in the cartoons but in the movie, he is sent there to keep him safe. He returns years later to claim the rightful place in Eternia, as their hero. You remember Nicholas Galitzine from Sheep Detectives, in which he played a reporter. Nicholas transforms into Adam or He-Man in what feels like a role he was meant to play. This version of Adam is socially awkward, so there is that angle to play around with. And the transformation scenes are few, so you savour it even more. The star of the movie has to be Jared Leto. He brings out the sinister vibe but also adds something from his end that makes it unique. And I am guessing all the visual effects budget went towards Skeletor's face because it looked flawless. Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, James Purefoy, Kristen Wiig, Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin **** of my issues with the movie was how Cringer was depicted. Maybe they will rectify it in future installments. And the other has to be the He-Man theme from the cartoons. They missed using that in the movie. That was one of the highlights of the cartoons. Masters of the Universe will appeal to all those who grew up watching He-Man. It is catered specifically for them. But it is also a very vibrant and fun movie. So do check it out.

They tried to be funny, not fun enough, just awkward jokes It was not action-packed enough either. Plot wasn't absorbing... 70% of movie was sleepy I regret watching this movie at theater.

For God knows what reason this movie actually made it to the screen and I can only assume it was to make fun of the property and fans. It was somehow on the same level with Kevin Smith's REVELATION - it was THAT bad.
