A visually and verbally ingenious sendup of romantic comedies that wears its candy heart on its sleeve.

This was an adorable, sweet, silly movie like the old Doris Day/Rock Hudson movies, except it was almost a musical which we found very entertaining. This movie was cute, fantasy entertainment, nothing more. We loved seeing the usual antics from Rebel Wilson and Adam DeVine, but also seeing Liam Hemsworth being funny for once, and hearing his Australian accept for a change. Priyanka Chopra, Betty Gilpin and Brandon Scott Jones were all VERY funny in their over-the-top roles. All in all, it was a very enjoyable film like a throwback to the past G-rated romantic comedy movies. You can tell the actors enjoyed making this film, and we enjoyed watching it.

I enjoyed Isn't It Romantic despite its obsessive use of the curse word beeping. It's a romantic comedy that's a parody of a romantic comedy. The comedy made me laugh.

Isn't It Romantic has charm to burn, in a light-hearted send-up of romantic comedies that playfully turns all the familiar tropes into a lively vehicle for Rebel Wilson. The movie owes a thematic debt to "Groundhog Day," but mostly -- in a film so conscious of conventions that it niftily bleeps its foul language -- it's a heckuva lot of fun.

Isn’t It Romantic had us at hello but loses its spell when it has to develop its plot. Not as smart or sharp as you’d hope, it still delivers a lot of fun for those who can’t resist a bad Katherine Heigl flick.

The screenplay by Erin Cardillo, Dana Fox, and Katie Silberman nails the mechanics of a rom-com, even if it takes Wilson’s delivery to drive the lessons home. Scenes are succinct and the movie comes in at 88 minutes even with a tacked-on song-and-dance video at the end (as a nod to the film’s wildly successful karaoke-bar sequence earlier in the film).

The film’s reliance on conventions even as it snickers at them gives it the faint air of a con.

Isn’t It Romantic isn’t romantic, and it isn’t funny. It’s a bad idea stretched to feature length, a gimmick picture that never gets past its gimmick and never grows into something better. It runs 88 minutes and runs about 80 minutes too long.

Among the best rom coms I've seen
Unfortunate how underrated this is, I liked Isn't It Romantic a lot! Great story, funny, silly in the best way, and not overdone with the singing; I can't stand musicals. Also my uncle worked on this as a production assistant which is epic, my cousin even got to meet Rebel Wilson recently - I'm jealous of that. I want to be involved in anything film related so damn bad! The 5.9 rating is really unfortunate though seriously deserves at least a 7.4

It was alright, a simple enough rom com. Plus Rebel Wilson usually adds her own style of crazy to almost every role. Definitely a good date night movie.

While I really liked the idea of the movie as it was fresh and different, I did find some jokes a bit dumb and at some parts a bit unfunny. Overall was decent and definitely better than generic romantic movie/comedy.

Not nearly as clever as it could have been, Isn’t it Romantic largely ends up following the same beats it sets out to parody without doing anything interesting to them. The acknowledgment of nearly every romantic-comedy trope is still fun and there are charming moments sprinkled throughout but this so easily could’ve been funnier. Grade: C+
