Hilarity ensues, but so do the lessons. . . In this raunchy little escapade, actions have consequences.

I’m all for pushing the limits of taste in the name of edgy laughs and portrayals of teen life that don’t sugarcoat the realities of teen life, but while Incoming easily earns its R rating, it has a bit of foul odor about it and features far too many cheap gross-out gags and the inclusion of some genuinely creepy characters whose actions range from the morally questionable to flat-out criminal.

As a standalone, Incoming hits its marks, but its cast amounts to a collection of tics, while its appetite for raunch seems unfulfilled.

Incoming has funny moments, and the young actors deliver their lines with the commitment of seasoned professionals every step of the way. However, as I was watching, I was endlessly reminded that watching Incoming's influences would have been more enjoyable.

The Chernins are savvy enough to not wrap the whole thing in a neat “just be yourself” bow in the end, but Incoming could have worn a little more of its heart on its sleeve.

Its story of high school freshmen navigating a libertine house party follows exactly the trajectory you would expect, with few laughs and even fewer surprises.

Experienced movie watchers will pick up attempted hints of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” “Can’t Hardly Wait” and “Sixteen Candles” in the more graceful moments. Not that there are a lot of those.

For as long as I can remember, there have been a handful of coming-of-age adolescent comedies. Some are memorable, others not so much; however, you would be hard-pressed to find a more popular raunchy comedy than 2007's Superbad. It's a film so ingrained in pop culture. It overtook classics like 1982's Fast Times at Ridgemont High or 1984's Revenge of the Nerds. Before Superbad, the millennial generation grew up with 1999's American Pie. With "Incoming," Directors/Writers Dave Chernin and John Chernin aim to bring you the Gen Z update of coming-of-age movies. While the argument certainly can be made that "Incoming" is reminiscent of "Superbad," I would hardly call it a knockoff or updated version of that film. There are similarities, but both films have different approaches to handling the core cast (Mason Thames, Ramon Reed, Raphael Alejandro, and Bardia Seiri). They have different goals and wants than the boys in "Superbad." Although not entirely original, I found it fun and often laughed at the numerous jokes throughout the film. The cast of 'Incoming' is exceptional, with each member bringing their unique energy to the film. Their chemistry is palpable, and Bobby Cannavale's performance is particularly noteworthy. I highly recommend 'Incoming' to anyone looking for a fun time and a few solid laughs.

Dei boas risadas, me diverti bastante aqui e com um roteiro anárquico, que lembra bem certos bons momentos de American por. Confesso que me espanta um pouco o quão novinho são esses atores, mas mandaram muito bem. Acredito que funcione melhor entre o público mais jovem, e por mais que tenha a opção pelo besteirol as vezes, dá pra ver que é um filme do século XXI devido algumas falas interessantes e inclusivas, sem perder essa áurea de representar homens héteros ávidos por experiências. Ficou divertido sim.

It's like if Superbad, was super bad. 'Incoming' is the latest of Netflix's attempts to appeal to a younger audience - this time with a movie that follows the same general plot points we've seen in every single party movie since Seth Rogan's 2007 classic. Guy meets a girl, starts acting like a crazed maniac to try and get her to like him, she falls out of love, and he wins her back by demonstrating what a silly goofy wacky wild character he is and that he should have never tried to change who he is - blah blah blah we've seen it a million times. This lack of creativity combined with the movie's often crude, slapstick and at certain times even downright disgusting humour make for a watching experience akin to that of 2018's 'The Package'. In summary, this movie perfectly demonstrates that the corporate-supervised writing typically seen in Netflix movies does not mix well with the concept of a party movie, relying on shock value to bring any excitement and distract from the film's stale overused plot points and uninteresting stereotypical characters.

Just too sanitized and safe to work at all as a raunchy teen party comedy..
