It's like if Superbad, was super bad. 'Incoming' is the latest of Netflix's attempts to appeal to a younger audience - this time with a movie that follows the same general plot points we've seen in every single party movie since Seth Rogan's 2007 classic. Guy meets a girl, starts acting like a crazed maniac to try and get her to like him, she falls out of love, and he wins her back by demonstrating what a silly goofy wacky wild character he is and that he should have never tried to change who he is - blah blah blah we've seen it a million times. This lack of creativity combined with the movie's often crude, slapstick and at certain times even downright disgusting humour make for a watching experience akin to that of 2018's 'The Package'. In summary, this movie perfectly demonstrates that the corporate-supervised writing typically seen in Netflix movies does not mix well with the concept of a party movie, relying on shock value to bring any excitement and distract from the film's stale overused plot points and uninteresting stereotypical characters.
