The first half hour of this deliriously rude comedy, codirected by Winter and Tom Stern, is so overflowing with anarchic invention that it holds up against such certified classics as Duck Soup and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The last 48 minutes aren’t bad, but they rely so heavily on gross-out makeup and special effects that the movie’s initial rush wears off.

That’s already more laughs than a month of Saturday Night Lives.

Excellent horror-comedy B-movie.
If you like unconventional indie movie and you have a good sense of humor you'll love this.
It has all: Gory (to laugh at and not to be scared of), comedy, pratical effects, mockery of horror cliches, notorious b.movie stars, 80's actor cameo, weird characters.
Not suitable for childrens of course but it's one of those movie to enjoy with friends and beer....perfect for halloween night.
It's on pair with other classic of the same category...like Frankenhooker, Tammy and the T-Rex, Killer Tomatoes, Bill and Ted, Tromeo and Juliet, Sharknado, Army of Darkness and the like

This was a nice group all comedy that has a joke a minute. I was enjoying this from start to end. It was kind of hard at the middle of the movie because it was almost like my brain got made to soup because of the Fast Pace, but then I took a walk and it was all good. the visuals and all the gayote used to look weird. It's just amazing the makeup and all of that stuff.

Freaked definitely isn't for everyone, and in my opinion it certainly shouldn't be rated PG-13 (who made THAT stupid decision???) but as a "beer and buddies" movie you'll find it funny and, well... weird.

Freaked, which was directed by Mr. Winter and Tom Stern from a screenplay they wrote with Tim Burns, has the candy-colored glow of a goofy psychedelic comic book and the irreverent sensibility of Mad Magazine.

A classic, of sorts.

Clearly a labour of love for co-writer, co-director and star Alex Winter (the other one in the Bill and Ted movies), this freewheeling, anarchic, gross-out comedy should satisfy the six-pack post-pub crowd, but it can't really stand up to sober viewing.

To be fair, there are some genuinely funny bits here, but the film's aim is so scattershot that it never really comes together like it should, and, as a result, it rarely rises above the level of Mel Brooks on a bad day.

This is a totally ridiculous film that is actually quite funny. It is done in the style of a MTV music video but gets quite insane. The comedy is fast-paced and ridiculous. That is the only way it could have been with this kind of movie. It reminded me of a tame version of Basket Case 2 (1990) and Basket Case 3 (1991). It also reminded me of X-Men (2000) a tiny amount. Freaked seems to have been made for children unlike the Basket Case movies. Oh yeah, I forgot, this reminds me of Society (1989) as well. There are a bunch of freaks and they have a funny story and little violence or gore to be spoken of. I enjoyed it! It is madness.

The practical effects, rapid-fire pop culture knowledge, and whirl of filmography references do provide some wacky/nerdy thrills, but it slowly becomes a myriad of loud noises and tired jokes as the runtime reaches its end.
