Finding Dory had a tough job from the start. Following Finding Nemo was never going to be easy, especially when the original is such a beloved classic. But honestly, I think it does a pretty good job standing on its own. It may not hit quite as hard as the first movie, but it captures that same Pixar charm and sense of adventure. What makes the film work is Dory herself. In Finding Nemo, she was the funny side character who constantly stole scenes, but here she gets a lot more depth. The movie does a good job showing how her memory problems affect her daily life without turning it into a joke all the time. It makes her feel more relatable and gives the story a stronger emotional core than I **** underwater world is still beautiful, and the new characters are mostly fun additions. Some of them are clearly designed to be crowd favorites, but they fit naturally into the story and help keep the movie entertaining. Like the first film, it moves at a nice pace and never feels too slow.I also appreciated that the movie didn’t simply try to remake Finding Nemo. It follows a familiar structure, sure, but it focuses on different themes and gives Dory her own journey instead of just repeating Marlin’s story.Overall, Finding Dory is a warm, funny, and genuinely enjoyable sequel. It doesn’t quite reach the same level as the original for me, but it comes closer than I expected. A solid 8/10 — another easy-to-watch Pixar adventure that captures a lot of what made the first movie special.

An extremely worthy sequel to the original "Finding Nemo" that marks a pivoting expansion in worldbuilding, and breathtaking visuals while hitting every emotional moment on the way

Completely worthless experience of a movie. The story is just so flat without much emotional effect compared to before. Also, no jokes worked whatsoever and these characters are just boring and annoying. The tricks they manipulate are just so flat. No purpose I got from them in every single way. Don’t watch this.

Very banal plot, film suitable only for children. It relies entirely on the success of the previous chapter.

Back to the pond for Pixar, where we find things largely unchanged from the end of 2003's Finding Nemo. As the continually-forgetful blue tang, Dory, has a sudden enduring flash of her childhood - a rush of unfamiliar recall - she gathers the clownfish for one more globe-spanning adventure. The setup is a little soft, lingering too long in the shadow of the first film, but eventually we break free of that sentiment and forge a new (if similar) identity for the sequel. The closed-in landscape of an aquatic zoo/amusement park feels a bit claustrophobic at first glance, but as hijinx ensue and we learn more of Dory's early years, it all fleshes out nicely. No shortage of colorful new characters there, literally and figuratively, not the least of which is Ed O'Neill's escape artist "septipus" (having lost a tentacle in the touch tank), who treads dangerously close to becoming a deus ex machina with his versatility. O'Neill brings his usual disgruntled pessimism to the role, though, and some genuinely clever sight gags using the creature's natural assets go a long way to smoothing that over. He's overly convenient, but we're always glad to see him again. Witty and fast-paced, with a good mix of gags for the adults and their kids, plus a potent dose of the studio's famed poignancy. I laughed, I misted up, but I never quite fooled myself into thinking it was superior to the first.

This movie intrigued me because there was a little more focus on Dory but dang I didn't think I didn't want that much of her definitely the adventurous aspect they try to capture that but it really wasn't as thrilling to watch as the first one and that was a bit of a let down to me I don't know this could have been handle a little more tastefully.

Wow Wow Wow! Found a way to make it even worse than the first. If the first movie made me want to go into a lake and kill some fish, this one makes me like overfishing.

This is what happens when you disturb the peacefully laid to rest stories for commercial gain. This movie is over an hours worth of nothing, Dorys search for self and family isn't worth telling or watching.

Carino. Consigliato? Sì.

This is a cute sequel to Finding Nemo. As with the original film, it features plenty of decent CGI, some bright imagery/seabed landscapes etc. the characters are undoubtedly cute and its likely to entertain youngish kids but im not sure if there's anything much else I can add than that. I'd recommend this film to families, yes.

In the universe of animated cinema, it has been established that a good supporting character in a film that has been a success (box office and critical) will, sooner or later, be entitled to her own film. I could name several examples of this. Dory, a friendly marine creature with serious memory problems, was adorable in "Finding Nemo", and is the protagonist in this film, made specifically to exploit the character's popularity. The script is relatively simple: after the events of the first film, Dory is living with her new friends, Marlin and Nemo, but she feels something is missing: she doesn't know where her family of origin is, she knows she's lost, and therefore decides to go in search of his own origins, which can be a challenge for a fish with a short memory. Of course, Nemo and Marlin will have to go in search of her when she disappears. The movie works on the basis of how cute and likeable it can be because the script has little to give us, and it feels like only a partial rewrite of the first movie. There are several moments when the story rings false or seems to fray because it is so sparse, flaws that Pixar makes up for and hides with a high dose of cuteness. All the characters are cute, nice, the world is pink, and it seems incredible that no malevolent characters appear. In fact, the closest thing to a villain or a dubious character is a sly octopus, determined to get out of an aquarium, and who is a master at the art of camouflage. The film is visually magnificent, Pixar quality, with excellent visual work, good CGI and magnificent drawings, vivid colors and a wonderful deep blue. It's a good movie for the family and especially if there are kids because there's nothing offensive. The original voice cast is much the same as in the first film, with Ellen DeGeneres standing out in the lead voice, closely followed by Albert Brooks and Kaitlin Olson.

Finding Dory is the sequel to Finding Nemo and I was super worried going into this movie back in 2016. I was pleasantly surprised that the movie was good, but it's definitely no "Finding Nemo". Similar to Cars 2 and Monsters University, PIXAR takes the secondary character Dory and gives her the spotlight. In Finding Nemo, I already thought Dory was a great character, and in this one, she proves herself to be even more likable, which is big praise. The other characters, minus Hank the septopus, are a bit bland and I don't have much good or bad to say about them. The story works really well for me, and the animation once again is stunning. I am very impressed at how realistic the water and ocean look and the way they can make characters move naturally. My biggest issues with the film are the humor and the ending. The humor in this film is not even close to the level of Finding Nemo which happened to be an extremely funny film as well as touching. This movie has some of that but the emotional levels are not as high, not really even close. And the ending is just insane. It is just pure lunacy, kind of hilarious, but not in a great way. It's this climax that makes me not want to rewatch the film in the first place but I did anyway because I was curious to see how I feel about it now. Then the movie ends about five minutes after this crazy event takes place which was very abrupt and frankly sloppy for PIXAR. Luckily this is overall a surprise and a mostly fun movie that I'm glad wasn't awful at all. Finding Dory is a good PIXAR film, but at this point in time, PIXAR was in another slump again.

With the exception of Ellen "Why doesn't she do more movies" DeGeneres, the voice acting is lifeless, the character designs are obvious and kiddy, and the writing and direction seem flat out lazy.

I'm a big fan of Finding Nemo, and I was impatiently waiting for Finding Dory. And I'm very happy that the movie was just as I expected, and more actually. It has a big package of emotions! I literally felt a lot of emotions, I enjoyed, laughed, cried and smiled. It's hard to find such a decent movie, like Finding Dory! The animation improved very much, it's an eye-comforting animation, with its colors, details and the sea... Everything went very awesome with the animation! The sense of humor was so unique and funny. The story was so related and tight together, in a way that made clap for each chapter in this movie! It was so emotional and unique! The voices were very very excellent! The characters are memorable and great! So Finding Dory worth-ed waiting, with its surprising, emotional and funny story, Finding Dory deserves an A+!

It's like the typical "direct-to-video" sequel when we still had vhs...worst than the original and un-necessary. The story It's about Dory going on a trip to find his parents lost a long time ago...some backgound of her past ..some new friends along the way dealing with Dori's memory loss problem. It isn't bad just flat in story, characters, jokes and with a very basic moral.

New, current and light. The return of the character brings us a lot about the world outside of "Finding Nemo". Maybe a devaluation to the concept of ocean of Pixar, but way in the great story of the character so beloved by fans. Unexpected but pleasing your public. 8.6/10

Have you ever come across a movie that you wanted to like so badly but for some reason you didn’t? That’s how I feel with Finding Dory. I liked most of the stuff about it, especially the gorgeous animation, but something in the movie just didn’t click for me. The storyline was slightly inferior to the first, but that can be expected in a sequel. The movie blends emotional parts with humor pretty well, but the humor is hit or miss, split about 70/30 really funny to “why did they put that in there?”. The dialogue wasn’t great, with quite a few clichés. The tone of voices that the actors used were out of place noticeably some times. In other words, bad acting in an animated film, no easy task. Finding Dory is an okay film that was decent, but from PIXAR standards, a real disappointment.

Since 1995, when "Toy Story" was released, Pixar has managed to reinvent the animation genre by becoming the first studio to release full-length computer animated films. They didn't just change the animation technique. They added much depth to animated stories and made these films enjoyable for the entire family. While the studio has been facing a decline in quality as of late, "Finding Dory" is an exception of that and manages to meet the early standards of Pixar movies. Taking place just months after "Finding Nemo" ended, Dory remembers her long lost family and tries not only to find her parents, but also to remember how exactly she was lost. That leads her and her friends, Marlin and Nemo, to California. There they will have to face many challenges and meet new friends in the Marine Life Institute, as Dory is trying to remember. "Finding Nemo" set the bar high, so it was difficult for this sequel to meet expectations, even after coming 13 years later. "Finding Dory" could have gone wrong in many ways, such as by focusing on Dory, a character with short-term memory loss and a comic relief, which most audiences can't relate too. But people who don't suffer from disabilities can relate to Marlin and Nemo, as they struggle to help their friend. The movie is heartfelt, complex, funny, cute, deep and teaches a very important lesson. It's also stunning. A great time for all families and for fans of the original and an impressive feat in the history of sequels.

Dory is an heartfelt & enjoyable sequel with some wonderful voice acting (especially from DeGeneres). The somewhat thin plot is well written as to last almost 2 hours, but you can't shake the feeling that they were capitalising on the popularity of the first film for this to be such a financial success.

This movie isn't the worst Pixar movie only because Cars 2 exists. It is disappointing, predictable and just not funny at all. It's something I would expect from BlueSky or Illumination, but not from the studio behind such classics as Toy Story, Ratatouille and Up.

I loved Finding Nemo and I remembered seeing it in cinemas, but with "Finding Dory" I wasn't looking forward to. I don't know my reasons, just didn't want to see a spin-off to something I couldn't care less about. Of course I gave in and finally watched it. And my judgment I had with the film sadly came true after seeing it. I mean, it's cute and harmless with some humor that I did laugh at. However, with it being a year since it's release, this existing doesn't feel necessary. Pretty forgettable as no one is talking about it (expect for me). In terms of creativity and surprising me, it felt kinda held back. I didn't get that emotional punch that you would expect from Pixar.
