The profoundly sensitive, often wryly funny look at friendship, romance, sexual attraction and gender identity carries themes and dynamics that feel as timeless as they do up-to-the-minute.

Often, it feels conspicuously educational. The movie is far better when it focuses on its intimate story of love between family and friends in a small town.

Placing sex and gender identity at the center of almost every conversation, the writer and director, Eric Schaeffer, is so keen to demythologize that the film’s potentially most affecting moments are too often smothered by the hackneyed characters and setups that surround them.

So good. So freaking good. Best movie about a trans woman I have ever seen. They did everything right. Played by a trans woman. Were blunt about gender vs sexuality. Didn't end in tragedy. Tackled issues about suicide in the community. Showed the goodness of people when you are at your lowest. I am thankful for Michelle Hendley and the rest of the cast and members for making such a great movie. Not just for society at large, but especially for #GirlsLikeUs.

This is movie is a very good but formulaic love story of a small town girl with her best friend who has feelings for her. she meets a friend of her best friend who she develops feelings for. However her best friend is in love with her too while her new friends fiance disapproves of Ricky's choice. she is a transgender girl who has to deal with some unwanted attention from her new friends finance and parents. This movie finds himself struggling to find out who she is and who she truly loves. The movie is great in that it teaches some important life lessons about being who you are and nobody can change that. The transgender boy was very good at portraying the struggle of loving diffrent people and the challenge it can bring even if it did feel a little bit formulaic it was still very good.
