Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World is an excellent movie about a beloved figure who indeed seems ageless and whose story includes the kind of comebacks usually reserved for fiction.

It’s prosaic and conventional and a touch stolid, but it stays true to the facts and the spirit of the man (he’s both sinner and saint), and the saga they add up to is singular in the history of sports.

The movie thumps through successive events of Foreman’s amazing life in efficient, unsubtle, on-the-nose style, skating over his many marriages a little.

One can’t help but feel that the man himself — grill and all — is so much more fascinating than this rote representation.

It’s a movie with its heart in the right place and its sense of drama nowhere in sight.

It’s almost impressive that Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World is so dull.

It can be said the film does indeed provide a full summary of Foreman’s recounting of the major events in his life where he comes out looking pretty great, but that hardly makes for a compelling work of cinema.

Loved loved loved this movie!!!!! It was excellent!!!! I am going to recommend it to all my friends! There was no sex, no bad words, no vulgarity, no violence, no homosexuality and no nudity. Just a well told story which was well acted. It is for all ages! Has laughter, sadness, happiness, excitement etc. Brought back a lot of memories! It is so good!!!!

Finally!! After all this time!!! I usually see two or three movies in the theater a week - and have been sorely disappointed over the last two years (I guess you would call the films I've seen over that period "The COVID Movies") by the poorly written and produced pictures I've seen. "Top Gun" was good and "Elvis" - for the most part - but most of the movies have had no real script - just an awful lot of CGI and an overload of action to hide the fact that Shakespeare and all of his writers have most certainly departed the scene in the interim. Buuuut, this is not one of those movies!! You get into this piece - and by the time you've gone through two-thirds of it - you're left with the feeling that this is TRULY A GREAT MOVIE - WITH FINE WRITING AND ACTING AND A GREAT MESSAGE!!! Please, forget the professional reviewers on this film (I suppose it wasn't "politically correct" enough for them; instead - the story went along themes of losing and then winning and then losing and forgiving and fighting to find oneself again)!! This is a great movie - that makes you want to go back into the theater and see it again and then later on - once more!!!

I was actually really impressed with this film. The acting was top notch and the story was incredible. If you are a boxing fan, this is highly recommended.

(Mauro Lanari) To biopics on alleged uplifting true stories, I prefer sports movies with fictional protagonists but which speak of the ideals related to sport itself. Instead, these are either often commissioned and/or produced by the interested parties or are resolved in the hagiography of the protagonist with rhetorical amplification of pre-established values and not only in the USA.
