I think that this film has an amazing cinematography and scenography. It has horror and comedy elements. I appreciate this film for the story that criticize our society in a dystopian way. The biggest problem of the film is the final, that is inconclusive.

So much more intelligent than people seem to think. A truly re-watchable movie given the new layers and perspectives each time. Watching this as anything but a complete satire is a crime; to watch this in earnest would be to miss out on the best aspect of this film (its humour). The irony is that the cliche this film has become is not at all what about what it is really saying. The boys obsessed with Patrick Bateman memes are for the most part idolising the aspects of the subject matter and setting that were being satirised by the movie. So basically a smart movie from 25 years ago, intended to be taken ironically, is being interpreted literally. This is happening even in the real world: there is now a platform for booking last-minute tables at elite restaurants, knowingly called DORSIA!! Did they just see the memes and not the movie? The whole booking thing is a JOKE about FOMO on Wall St. But oh-well, proof that we are in a post-ironic world. I am glad this film exists for the ways that I interpret it, and enjoy knowing it could be seen so many other ways.

American Psycho is a brilliant movie depicting how a man living in a corrupted world can't see through himself. Even if he isn't corrupt, he cannot distinguish reality from his insanity.

Years later, American Psycho remains an uncomfortable and fascinating journey into the rotten heart of an era. Adapting Bret Easton Ellis’s novel was almost impossible without losing part of its madness and depth, but Mary Harron managed to capture its essence: the absolute emptiness behind success, luxury, and superficial perfection.Christian Bale is simply brilliant. His Patrick Bateman is as elegant as he is grotesque, a monster hidden behind a designer suit and a toothpaste smile. There’s nothing exaggerated about his performance — every gesture, every glance in the mirror, every word reveals an obsession with image that borders on insanity. Bale doesn’t just act; he becomes the polished madness of 1980s capitalism. What’s most striking is the tone: a mix of dark comedy, horror, and satire that both unsettles and fascinates. Some scenes make you laugh just before making you feel deeply uncomfortable, and that’s the point — showing how absurd a world becomes when killing and closing a deal carry the same weight.Harron’s direction is elegant and cold, almost surgical, like Bateman himself. She doesn’t linger on violence; she suggests it, keeping it just out of sight, because the true horror lies in indifference. The polished visuals, the immaculate colors, the 80s soundtrack… everything feels like an empty shop window.Maybe the book is more brutal and layered, but the film achieves something unique: it turns the banality of evil into spectacle without glorifying it. It’s uncomfortable, ironic, and still painfully relevant **** short, a razor-sharp satire on narcissism, identity, and capitalism. Not perfect, but still cuts as deep as Patrick Bateman’s knife.

Christian Bale delivers one of the greatest performances of his career. He doesn’t just play Bateman—he is Bateman. Every expression, every movement, every sudden shift between charm and cold-blooded insanity is absolutely perfect. It’s rare to see a character this unhinged yet so controlled at the same **** film’s commentary on consumerism, narcissism, and the emptiness of 1980s excess is razor-sharp. It’s both disturbing and hilarious, with moments that make you laugh before immediately making you question why you’re laughing. The iconic business card scene, the surreal dinner conversations, the chilling monologues—every moment is crafted to keep you engaged and uncomfortable in the best way **** that ending? Pure genius. It leaves you questioning everything, making you want to rewatch the whole film just to catch the details you missed. American Psycho isn’t just a great psychological thriller—it’s one of the smartest, most stylish films ever made. If you haven’t seen it, fix that immediately.

I don't even know how to describe this movie. It is unique to anything I have ever witnessed. I thought I knew where this was going. But, after the end, I am left dazed and confused in the psychological masterclass presented in front of me. The film was funny, yet dark. However, it took a turn. The ending has left me speechless and out of words. I have never experienced something so bizarre, yet beautiful and stunning. Also, Patrick Bateman is one of my favorite characters of all time. Christian Bale is truly an acting genius. 10/10.

From memes i got overhyped and it fails to deliver that level although it was not bad, the styles of that era and the unpredictability of what happens next, with that end was good but overall the movie was dull

Come for Christian Bale's magnum opus, stay for the brutal takedown of yuppie capitalism. It's **** good. Having a lady director helps with translating some of the nastiness of the source material, and Mary Herron and her co-creatives make some good choices. I walked away from this movie in a daze at how good it was. The cast is surprisngly stacked. Jared Leto! A buttoned-up Chloe Sevigny!! Reese Witherspoon!!! Willem Dafoe is electric in a small role and the behind-the-scenes story of his acting choices here is a fantastic read. If anyone is worried that it softens the source material any, rest assured it does not. It doesn't adapt some of the more disgusting set pieces from the novel, but it doesn't shy away from the violence and sadism of Bateman, either. The ending especially is a madcap descent into urban hell and is delirious to take in.

Psychopathy in the super yuppie 1980s financial district, where a wolf in sheep's clothing runs rampant through the sea of fake grins and phony networking events. Christian Bale really made his name as a leading man in the role of Patrick Bateman, a move that looks bold and prescient in hindsight as many warned it would be career suicide. He's the motor behind this story, on-screen for basically the duration, and able to balance scenes of dark black humor with later episodes that require him to come completely unhinged. The first hour is unspeakably funny, engulfing us in Bateman's daily ritual and knee-jerk lust for violence, in the masks he wears to pass muster and the hopelessly superficial **** he hangs around with. It's absolutely loaded with classic scenes and quotable lines, like "Do you like Huey Lewis and the News?", "Don't just stare at it, eat it" and "My god, it's even got a watermark" and I could joyfully revisit any one of those snippets at the drop of a hat. Every time we start to think it's okay to cheer the serial killer, though, he pulls a blood-chilling stunt that makes us question our own judgment. As the plot unfolds, he grows increasingly sloppy, desperately chasing the dragon until he's in so deep that there seems to be no escape. The climax is a big tonal swing, and though it flirts with the idea of a wild twist at the very end, a lot is left to the viewer and I don't think it completely arrives where it means to. Still, it's a relentlessly entertaining movie that toys with a broad range of emotions and gives us one of the decade's most memorable performances. I could watch this just about any time.

Definitely on my top 5 list of worst movies I've ever seen. The audience (Sheeple) is led to believe we are supposed to adore Christian Bale simply because he's rich and does situps and talks like a preppy frathouse leader. Terrible acting and the movie makes no sense. Since Bateman is so obsessed with his masculine image, there is no way he'd be blasting Phil Collins emo rock music. He wouldn't be picking up 4 out of 10's in his limo either. Nothing in the movie fit. This movie might as well be the precursor to OnlyFans because the only reason someone would find it charming is if they are really really attracted to Christian Bale. But all I see is an average British guy on a moderate dose of hollywood steroids who was never great at acting. The best part was when I finally turned it off. The movie was like sa surrogate male fantasy for men who have never received a compliment before.

Unbelievably fun movie with a disgustingly charming main cast. Brutal criticism of, ironically, a type of person idolized by its fanbase. Almost every line is ridiculously quotable, I wish I didn't love this movie so much.

This film is madness, this film is exceptional, and even if I have a bit of a problem with the sigma fashion inspired by Patrick Bateman's hygienic lifestyle, I loved this film and I'm going to tell you why. sigma, which is inspired by Patrick Bateman's hygienic lifestyle, I loved this film and I'm going to tell you why. Of course, I'm also going to tell you about the flaws I noticed. First of all, this film is very fast-paced, well put together and, above all, builds to a crescendo, which is the case with many films, but this one manages to condense the rise to power of a psychopath who was probably already a psychopath before we saw his misdeeds into 1 hour 42 minutes. At the same time, the film's world takes on a certain importance. Certain characters, New York and the hedonism of Wall Street play an important part in the drama and I thought that was rather well done. Many links are made to the world of drugs and alcohol, although Patrick Bateman doesn't consume much of it compared to those close to him. What makes the film really good is that it grabs you by the gut, due in particular to Mary Harron's extraordinary work as writer and director, because it's customary in cinema to show rather than tell, but every time he talked about music you didn't expect to see blood, Every time he put on his gloves I was afraid there was going to be a murder, and that's how Mary Harron did a good job, she set a sign for the future, every little thing that could make you wonder about the murderous outcome of the scene grabbed you by the guts, and at moments like that you either wanted to pause the film or watch the massacre. This effect is obviously heightened by the honourable performance of Cristian Bale, who will naturally have a better career than his director.I'm not a big fan of music to artificially create feelings in a film, but in this film it's used rather well, not all the time some scenes you could do without it the actors are quite good like the scene in the suite the music really wasn't compulsory. Now I have to tell you about my favourite scene, the presentation of their cards, it's the scene that characterises all the complexity of the film, you can see the great Wall Street, important and pretentious names, you can see Patrick Bateman's rage and his murderous desires and above all you can see the mockery and sarcasm that the artistic direction has decided to take throughout the film, which doesn't prevent it from being a good horror film because, excuse me for not being an expert, all the cards look the same.

American Psycho is a gut wrenching and gruesome suspense film with unexpected moments of confusion, tension, and gore. The movie does a good job at capturing the time and environment of a deeply corrupted psychopathic wall street killer. The emotional spectrum will range from admiration to disgust to fearful while watching this film. Guaranteed to make you feel uneasy.

In case you missed American Psycho. Even so, it is a dark comedy. Despite its severe violence, Psycho is meant to be amusing in the same way that Fargo was; both films are incredibly funny despite their extreme violence. No, it's not a psychological thriller or a horror film. If you assumed that, you were completely mistaken and most likely won't appreciate it as much as you would if you viewed it as a comedy, which is what it is. This movie and book were probably greatly influenced by Vampire's Kiss, which has many parallels. a man whose reality—or lack thereof—is utterly unreal. Is someone gradually becoming insane, or what?

Bale's over-the-top performance is what really keeps this loony, dark dramedy afloat. I suppose it was only a matter of time until someone got the idea to create a character who is both an arrogrant, narcisssistic, upper crust young businessman and a vicious serial killer, but writer Bret E. Ellis gets the credit. There is not much to like here, and hardly anyone to root for, with the exception of the main character's secretary. It is Wall Street in the 1980s, and the characters are vapid jerks, lost in a world of designer clothes, reservations at chic restaurants, and cocaine-fueled partying. The cynicism is laid on with a shovel, and the outbursts of evil madness and humor are pretty bizarre. Watch while our killer begins his rampages with little critical reviews of 1980s pop music albums. Why? And why bother watching? I found myself asking that question a lot, until Bale appears to save the day.

This movie was a complete waste of time and brain cells. The acting was wooden, the story was weak, and the supposed 'satire' fell flat. I can only assume the filmmakers were trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator with this trash. Save yourself the agony and don't bother with this cinematic abortion. Zero out of ten, and that's only because I can't give negative numbers.

A very interesting, misunderstood film. While many take it as a critique, the story is quite transparently and thinly veiled of a deeply mentally ill and disturbed man, which makes all the twists, turns, and debauchery, disdainful behavior all the more alleviating and understandable.

A rare case of a film that gets better the more it ages. American Psycho is more relevant than ever now with the incel culture on the rise. However, it's not just it's critic of capitalism and it's adoration from the incel culture that make this movie so good. The black humor is great and Bale's performance is nothing sort of brilliant. Easily his best work and he should have gotten an Oscar. It's a crime that he was not even nominated.
