The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sets a new standard for the open-world Zelda formula. It’s a truly unforgettable experience that manages to encapsulate everything good about its predecessor while setting itself apart from what came before. When combined with the power of the newly released Switch 2, it truly comes into its own and exemplifies exactly why Zelda is so revered within the gaming landscape.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a truly generational game. It improves on all aspects of its predecessor, Breath of the Wild. The narrative balances various tones and progresses the character arcs of its major protagonists, while introducing new and compelling NPCs. Further, the gameplay only enhances one of gaming's greatest sandboxes with a new fantastic line of abilities, activities, dungeons, and boss fights. Everything about Tears of the Kingdom is perfect, and as far as I'm concerned, it's one of the best games I've ever played in my entire life.
An excellent upgrade to an already phenomenal game. The Switch 2 version of Tears of the Kingdom is the definitive way to play the game.

TOTK improves on some aspects of BOTW no doubt. It's not it's own game, it's BOTW part 2. Highlights include the addition of sky islands and depts which expands to exploration, the dungeons which was missing in BOTW are back in a limited role but appreciated. I would also say the crafting and building aspect using the new abilities Link has with his arm is also a fun gimmick, not to mention very impressive in a technical sense. What I didn't appreciate from TOTK is all things I didn't appreciate from BOTW. They carried over the 150+ shrines 1000 Korok seeds (both as insufferable and boring chores as ever). This time around, the weapons not only break (which nobody appreciate) but the new weapons system is so tedious to use. I don't want to be too negative towards the game since I enjoyed playing it, but it's less enjoyable than BOTW if for no other reason but the newness is gone. BOTW's negative points got looked over for me because it was a fresh take on Zelda, and the best open world game I had ever played. That does not apply to TOTK. If you liked BOTW and just wanted a different spin on it, then play TOTK. But just don't expect the same feelings you had in BOTW because you've been there and done that.

Played BOTW and now this for the first time ever after getting Switch 2, Loved BOTW and thought it was one of the best made games I had ever played, but TOTK just felt like a slog and had lost a lot of what I felt made BOTW special.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was already on the Mount Rushmore of video games. That said, if you weren't able to click with the original due to the performance, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition completely revolutionizes the game. Having spent over 70 hours exploring the vast region of Hyrule in glorious HDR, I can't recommend this game enough; it's truly one of the best gaming experiences you can buy in 2025.

Strengths 1. The best Zelda game ever made. 2. An enormous variety of outfits and weapons. 3. The world is massive and packed with content. 4. Both the main quests and side quests are engaging and enjoyable. 5. The game’s difficulty feels well balanced. 6. Exploring the skies is an incredible experience. Areas for Improvement 1. Even after completing the game, the map does not clearly mark unfinished side quests. It only shows the total number of quests available, making it almost impossible to complete everything without relying on external guides or tutorials. 2. The number of Koroks is excessive. 3. There are too many repeated mini-bosses, such as Hinoxes and Stone Taluses, which makes completionist quests involving defeating all of them feel repetitive and exhausting. 4. The number of shrines is also excessive. Many of them serve as tutorials for mechanics that players have already mastered by the time they discover them. 5. Quest progression is completely open-ended and lacks a recommended difficulty system. Adding difficulty indicators would help players progress more naturally from easier quests to harder ones, creating a better sense of progression throughout the game. 6. Lynels are not treated as mini-bosses with unique health bars, even though they are often far more challenging than many actual mini-bosses.

The definitive version of one of Nintendo’s most astounding technical and design achievements, that expands and refines the world of Breath Of The Wild in new and unexpected ways.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a new masterpiece that makes Breath of the Wild, one of the best games of all time, look like a mess. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, it is certainly no longer a "revolution," but it perfects the player experience in an epic dimension that is unparalleled. The feeling of freedom, the impression of living your own adventure without constraints, these are the great strengths of a game with an absolutely exceptional lifespan. Tears of the Kingdom is revealed over time, little by little, to the point that it will still have things to reveal to us for years to come. It is a jewel of absolute purity and definitely, adventure with a capital A.

The Switch 2 upgrade for Tears of the Kingdom is a massive win: visually impressive, feature-rich, and finally running without compromise.

I love Zelda and I really wanted to love this entry. If you’re looking for an open world sandbox with outstanding physics and mechanics, this is the game for you. Its graphics, controls, sound design and music are absolutely stunning. And despite my grievances, I still put in over 150 hours, even on an adult’s schedule. But I can perhaps see now why I dropped this game shortly after launch, it’s a less cohesive experience than Breath of the Wild, exemplifying not only its best qualities but also some of its weakest. Perhaps open world Zelda has reached its natural peak; will the next entry try to somehow top it, or will it return to the old formula that I seem to be hung up with nostalgia for? Time will tell.

If you like tech demos, you will love this game. Seriously I do not get how this game is so overrated. Half of it is a walking and climbing simulator, interrupted by that same boring monsters, tasks and shrines. The Adventures of copy & paste. Now yeah, building these Tech things is maybe an interesting addition, but it's fiddly and I am not going to build a robot for 5 hourse, which falls apart in 10 seconds. And within all this the game designers forgot about basic game mechanics. Unlimited food makes you unbeatable. Just go hunting. Graphics 9/10 gameplay 2/10.

Is this a good game? absolutely, is this worth a remaster not even 2 years after it's original release? definitely not,I don't care if it has better performance (performance even still poor compared to today's standards), it should've been sold like an update to it's original self and not an overpriced remaster
