All that being said, the game is still fun: it has an incredible art style, a fun concept, and a unique blend of gameplay genres that you just aren’t going to see elsewhere. It is only because the core concept is so fun that all of the little problems are so noticeable, and given that the game is in Early Access, it’s forgivable that they’re there in the first place. While I do think the game needs to improve in the areas I mentioned, I have full confidence that the final product will be much different from the early impression we have now, and I highly recommend interested players keep an eye on this unique gem in the making. Tears of Metal comes extremely close to the Warriors roguelike of my dreams. The gameplay loop is satisfying, with progression that lets us modify and upgrade our characters in different ways. Apart from some balancing that could help, the hack and slash combat is quite enjoyable with a nice range of objectives to complete across the roguelike map. It’s a great first showing for this early access title, and if development progresses as well, I have no doubt that it will be a must-have roguelike. [Early Access Score = 80]

The vibes in Tears of Metal are amazing, the music is incredible, and the bloody-minded violence is thoroughly enjoyable (especially in co-op). I just wish it felt a bit more varied in its execution. If that's not an issue for you though, then you'll get a lot of hours out of this roguelike for sure. [Early Access Review Score = 70]
