SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide

As someone who was probably a bit too old to have caught the original fandom of SpongeBob but then was introduced to it via fatherhood… I appreciate the love that has been put into this game. It is very easy for franchises to simply churn out pulp slop (anyone from the 90’s remember all those side scrolling/platform games based on things from The Blues Brothers to Home Alone and basically everything in between?). Fortunately, SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide has been made with fans in mind and really does feel like you are in the middle of an episode of the show (the moment SpongeBob and Patrick first learn they can swap who is in ghost form had me chuckling quite a bit). It’s a lot of fun with very minimal stress whilst still not being so easy that you can play it with your eyes closed. It’s the right level of challenge with a lot of fun throughout… highly recommended for SpongeBob fans or even just fans of fun platformers!

As a fan of the cartoon and someone who already played Cosmic Shake, the Patrick Star game and the other previous 3D games in the series, I was looking forward to SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide. And the game does not disappoint. It delivers the best platforming gameplay in the series until this point, and the world design is excellent. That SpongeBob SquarePants music is very memorable, too, and it’s stuck in my head already. While the game’s story has an awkward pacing at times and some cutscenes feel forced, that didn’t deter me from the overall experience. The game promises great platforming and a funny story, and for me, it delivered on those fronts. You can also unlock a lot of costumes and even find lots of collectibles. It might be on the shorter side, but SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide is an excellent 3D platformer, especially for kids or families.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide is a blast to play. Fans of the show will find that there is no end to the references packed within this entry. The combat feels fantastic, especially when controlling Patrick, and the platforming elements feel smoother than they have ever been. Sadly, the story pacing and cutscenes make the game drag.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide gets so much right. Its instantaneous character switching system is brilliant, and Purple Lamp has once again cooked up an entertaining story, whisking players through several fun new locations. It could be longer and there are a few bugs present, albeit harmless ones. It’s hard, though, to deem the title as anything other than a thrilling 3D platformer that’s a blast to play through.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide is kind of like comfort food for 3D platforming fans. Even if you aren’t a fan of the TV series, it still delivers the kind of action you want with a minimum of fuss, and it’s not like you need to know the show very well to keep up with what’s going on. It wraps all that up in a solidly competent package, which means that if you’re a fan of the genre, you could do a lot worse than picking this up.

While SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide isn’t particularly challenging, it's well-written, consistently fun and fun enough to be enjoyed by Goofy Goobers, young and old.

Even with its weak level variety, you’ll still have fun exploring new areas of SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide, each well-detailed and full of secrets to find.

Really funny game, brings back my childhood when I was watching Spongebob SquarePants all the time. BTW, the Deluxe Edition or Ghostly Edition is a cool addition to my collection. 9/10.

Bob l'éponge : Les Titans des marées est un jeu sympathique avant tout destiné aux enfants, mais qui saura également séduire les adultes grâce à ses nombreuses références au dessin animé qui a bercé toute une génération. Les clins d'œil à la série sont omniprésents et procurent un véritable sentiment de nostalgie tout au long de l'aventure. L'histoire est plaisante à suivre et l'on apprécie particulièrement le retour de plusieurs doublages originels, qui renforcent encore davantage l'immersion dans l'univers de Bikini Bottom. Côté gameplay, le jeu reste très accessible. La difficulté est extrêmement faible et l'on sent clairement que l'expérience a été pensée pour un jeune public. Les mécaniques de jeu sont efficaces, mais elles ne révolutionnent pas le genre. Le principal défaut du titre réside dans sa durée de vie. L'aventure se termine rapidement et l'on aurait aimé passer davantage de temps aux côtés de Bob, Patrick et leurs amis. Au final, Bob l'éponge : Les Titans des marées est une aventure légère, amusante et pleine de nostalgie. Un excellent choix pour les fans de la série et pour ceux qui souhaitent retrouver un peu de leur enfance le temps de quelques heures. À conseiller avec un bon bol de céréales à portée de main.

Great continuation from Purple Lamp. I'm super glad they used and improved the Cosmic Shake engine to create more games. More studios need to do this. I'm glad this game exists but I won't be the first to admit that it's not perfect, there's only a few levels, and proper exploration is few and far between. Overall, mechanics are fun and the game looks great. My only critiques is the lack of post-game / resolution from the plot, and the music is bland. Still a good game!

J'en ai marre de ces jeux de plateforme qui ne servent à rien du tout et encore plus en fin de jeu. J'ai faillit arrêter astro bot à cause de ça vraiment arrêter ce genre de chose pour faire genre que y a encore du contenu je n'en peux plus ça rend dingue. Faites une histoire, des jeux fun mais plus de jeu ou à la fin il faut passer des plateforme qui tourne dans tous les sens qui ne servent à rien du tout à part bien te casser le crâne, intérêt 0.
