Half the price it originally was, but now twice as good – this third person take on Metroid Prime has been remastered into the game it always should have been.

I wish I had found this closer to when it came out. I get the appeal, but it felt dated and didn't hold me for long.

I first played the original version of Recore when I was just a kid and just recently discovered the definitive edition. This version kind of tidied up the game by fixing bugs, improving graphics, and adding new areas to explore. I also love the addition of the new tank bot as riding around on this games version of a car is pretty fun. I have always loved open world games and in my opinion, this one does not fall short. There is so much stuff to explore in the game. I love the addition of different ammo colors that deal more damage to bots of the same color because even though it's simplistic, it help make the game feel more alive than if you just ran around shooting. Recore is the kind of game where you need to find your flow before it picks up. Also the environment looks amazing. All in all, I say it's a 10/10 game and would definitely recommend giving it a try.

The retail release of "Recore" was fun, but very flawed. The Definitive Edition is actually a free update that makes the game live up to its original promise. While still not a great title, the upgraded version of "Recore" is a real pleasure. It recalls previous gen releases such as "Mega Man Legends" and "Metroid Prime". Any fan of action-adventure games from the late 90's and early 2000's will find this to be a real gem. As another reviewer posted, this plays like an early GameCube or PlayStation 2 game. I would rate it with a 7.7 out of 10.

The definitive edition caught me by surprise! Story, gameplay, graphics and music have been greatly improved over the original version! Had this game not suffered from loading times between levels, I would have given it an 8/10! Graphics 9/10, Sound 9/10, Gameplay 8/10, Loading 5/10.

Upon first playing I actually found the game mildly engaging, kind of like Metroid Prime with robots on a desert planet. I quickly took to the upgrade system, which uses enemy pickups to build up your robot minion cores and frames. As I kept playing though, the clumsily implemented parts of the game became increasingly annoying, to the point where they became egregious design flaws toward the end. The gameplay is bad and horribly unbalanced. Enemies swarm your character and use a variety of moves that are almost impossible to avoid. Gameplay was problematic until the 2nd half when I unlocked overpowered abilities for my robots that turned the game into faceroll. Just badly designed. A lot of the dungeons are based on frustrating platforming sections that are also timed. Not my personal idea of fun. Mission structure is also haphazardly implemented. You go to maybe half a dozen main story dungeons and then go through a 5 level platforming exercise for the last dungeon. The game is pretty short overall. The world is quite bland. It's just more desert with giant mechanical ruins sticking out of it. Part of the joy of the Metroid Prime games was the various alien settings filled with different flora and fauna. There's none of that here. Story is fairly awful. Think the most mediocre and trite science fiction of the year storylines. Game also crashed more frequently as it went on, including one time when it completely crashed my Xbox X forcing a reboot. A personal peeve of mine is that they have these portals that return you to the start of the dungeon that look like fast travel points. So after completing a difficult platforming section, I clicked on one thinking it would save my position, and it returned me back to the beginning. I almost quit the game right there. Looking back, quitting would have been the right move. After finishing the game, I'm disappointed that I could have been playing something much better. I recommend avoiding. There's not a single thing here that you really need to see.
