It's a Pokémon game, which inherently means that its not gonna be bad. However was it great? I mean it was alright. Don't get me wrong I liked this game, the new battle mechanics were nice refresh to the series. A big complaint with the game was the small map size, being restricted to only Lumiose City. But I found that when exploring the world It never truely felt small, there was always someone to talk to and something to look at...even if it was a PNG balcony. I also liked the story and how it added onto Pokémon X & Y, however I felt it could of been fleshed out further. As time goes on Pokémon games have become easier and easier, which makes complete sense considering the demographic of the game but it only took me 20ish hours to complete the game. Surprisingly short considering others in the series. What I really liked was the key gameplay, the Battle Zones and Wild Zones. The Battle Zones each night were repetitive but also extremely fun, absolutely demolishing every NPC in the area brought me great joy. Additionally, the Wild Zones were great and I loved trying to catch every Pokémon to complete each one. It also made completing the Pokédex a lot less daunting for someone who has never done it before. Overall, like I said, it's a Pokémon game. You're probably going to like it.

What a game. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is quirky lifesim game that fosters and perpetuates creativity and imagination. It is the second addition to the series, and I think it's worth mentioning the first. I played the original Tomodachi Life on the 3DS and I'm not sure whether it was my younger self and how I played the game or the game itself but I didn't enjoy it. So when I saw Living the Dream be announced for the Switch I wasn't going to pick it up, however the plethora of instagram reels I saw shifted my opinion. I picked up Living the Dream and it's safe to say I never put it down. This game has endless opportunities I can't fully explain myself, the ability to create anything and everything is the key selling point of this game. I am so glad Nintendo did not censor this game because unfiltered dialog brought so much joy, from Jojo Siwa and Makka Pakka bonding over shaking ass to Ice Spice having a crush on Chris McLean the fun is endless and driven by your creativity. Which in turn is what most of the criticism is with Living the Dream, if the person playing the game can't think of something funny, subsequently the games not going to be funny and I think that's the issue I had with the first game. I have only one other gripe with the game and that is by the time you've added 12 or so Mii's the game starts to get quite repetitive, the same cutscenes, dialogue, times a Mii wants to put a bench directly next to another bench. However I think the highs of this game definitely outweigh the lows. I would recommend this game to anyone, as long as they had a few ideas going into playing. Whether it's Mii's to add or objects to create I found the game was better when I knew what I wanted on the Island. Overall, this a phenomenal game and I hope we don't have to wait another console cycle for the next entry in the series.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy is a MASTERPIECE ****. Every aspect of this game is phenomenal, from the characters to the music to the story. This game is nothing short from peak. I absolutely love how across all three games all the stories and characters intertwine with one another which leads to the most fluid story I've ever played in a game. Additionally, some of the plot twists in some of the episodes were so perfect and unpredictable it left my jaw on the floor. Returning characters are really what makes these games shine, from Detective Gumshoe, Maya and Pearl Fey, Franziska Von Karma and even Ms Oldbag every returning character brings a smile to the players face. The music in this game is impeccable, with every track fitting with their situation or character perfectly. I'm even considering changing my ringtone to Wright's ringtone from the game. While all three games are amazing, I'd say the original Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is by far the best as it definitely has the most rounded story. I felt like Justice For All was slightly a filler sort of game to set up the plot and characters for Trials & Tribulations, the ending of which is absolute perfection. The only 'OBJECTION!' I have with this game is that how and why does Franziska Von Karma not get penalised for whipping everyone including the judge??? Apart from that I don't think there is a single flaw with these games. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, has introduced me to the world of Ace Attorney and I am so grateful because I absolutely adore every aspect of it as I'm sure many others would too. If you are hesitating to buy this game don't waste another second and go out and get it, I promise you it's worth it.

Highkey kinda mid. Donkey Kong Bananza is a stunning game, from the animation to the sheer detail in every environment. But to be honest, I got kinda bored after the first 30 minutes. There's fully the possibility that it just isn't a style of game I like, but it is very similar in style to Mario Odyssey and I loved that. I found that it got very repetitive and most Sublayers followed the exact same formula. Some stood out, but most blended together in my memory. However I really enjoyed the mechanic of the different Bananzas, but I didn't enjoy how to get them as it stayed the same for all five. DK's expansive moveset is really what makes this game enjoyable, being able to smash through any terrain and destroy everything is quite fun. I also found the game to be quite short, but I think at parts I may have rushed through and not gone for every side quest. The story was alright, I liked Void Co. as the antagonists but it became very apparent that this game was for kids. Donkey Kong Bananza is a good game but just not my cup of tea, especially considering the price.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a phenomenal sequel which fixed majority of the flaws that Breath of the Wild had. I much preferred going through the different Temples compared to the Divine Beasts as they all had their own unique atmosphere and vibe that wasn't able to be created within the Divine Beasts. The side quests within TOTK were also improved upon, by including Addison and helping him put up signs to helping Koroks find their friends (even if it included strapping them to a rocket). Fundamentally the game was better as well, with the abilities significantly improving on those in BOTW. Ultrahand, Recall and Ascend allowed for unlimited freedom on how to solve all the puzzles. Additionally I found TOTK's story to be more intriguing too, as it persuaded me to actually find all the geoglyphs and unlock all the memories. The ability to create your own vehicles also allowed for varied and more effective transportation, however unlike in BOTW I finally figured out how to use the horse properly. Overall, I think The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a MUST play game, and the definitive way to play a 'Breath of the Wild' style game on the Nintendo Switch.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, has to be one of the best games I've ever played period. The extravagant and beautiful story that has some of the most brilliant comedic elements sewn through it. The story honestly has changed my perception of the world, the ongoing themes of Fate Vs. Free Will and the questioning of 'Is there really a God?' has immensely impacted the way I view the world. The characters however are what really make the story shine, and you find yourself to love all of them (especially Reyn and Riki) and all their quirks. But when something happens to them you feel it yourself, it transports you to the world of Xenoblade. You're experiencing the situations yourself. The continual plot twists every time you think you've beaten the ultimate enemy, only cease to highlight the perfection that is the story and immersion of this masterpiece ****. The only thing that makes this not a perfect game is the difficulty scaling, I found it extremely hard to win any battles (I know this is a skill issue). So much so, that I had to bruise my ego and turn on casual mode however,I'm grateful this option existed because it let me to easily access the perfection that this game is. I urge you, if you're on the fence like I was prior to purchasing. Bite the bullet and buy it, I promise you won't regret it.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership was an interesting game to say the least. It had many good qualities but also quite a few bad ones. For context this was my first Mario & Luigi game, so I hadn’t played any prior. Highlights of the game include its story, characters and overarching mechanics (linking islands and Luigi logic). I thought it provided a charming and wholesome story with amazing characters to support it, I especially liked Connie and Technikki. I found exploring and linking new islands to be extremely enjoyable and a fun mechanic. However one major downfall of this game is how long it went on for, it took me 40+ hours to complete no Mario and Luigi title should take that long to finish and at many parts it felt like the game would never end and it was a chore to play. Another small thing that very much annoyed me was the STUPID tree animation that would play after literally anything and everything, it did not need to be there it added absolutely nothing and consistently wasted my time. But overall, Mario & Luigi: Brothership is a solid game with subtle flaws. As long as you push through some of the boring bits you’ll have an enjoyable experience.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a great and much needed addition to the Super Mario Bros. series. With new twists like the wonder flowers, art style and voice acting it provides a fresh new look on the series that is a major improvement. Based upon the past few entries to the series being lacklustre, boring and unoriginal the game may seem like it’s a holy grail game, but there are a few downsides. I found that the difficulty scaling was a bit off as there would be a level where I could breeze through then the next one it could take up to an hour to beat (I do think there is a possibility of some skill issues though). I also found the game to be quite tedious at times but I think having the wonder flowers and badges really didn’t make it that much of an issue. One part I absolutely loved was the Badge system, I found some to be very useful and it added a spin to every level. Although weird I found that one of the most fun parts of the game to be the credits! So I would push through to the end just to play that. Overall, I would say Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a worthwhile game to play especially if your interested in playing a 2D Mario game. It is a shorter game but not in comparison to the rest of the series but still worth the price.

I came into BOTW with very high expectations, I had heard a multitude of people say that it is their favourite game of all time not to mention it winning GOTY in 2017. This made the game severely overhyped and therefore i enjoyed the game less. The characters and story are great! Sidon is definitely a favourite. Controls are amazing except for the horses, I ABSOLUTELY HATE the horse controls. It also feels like they've thrown so many things at you at once at the start and it's very overwhelming. Although I know thats why some people love this game. On a side note the boss battles are always amazing with great gimmicks. Overall a great game, though it is very overhyped. You may want to lower your expectations before playing. I personally found The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword to be better.

Detective Pikachu Returns was my first Detective Pikachu game and I will say I really enjoyed playing this game. No, the graphics weren't great, yes the game is short. But for what its worth the story is really encapsulating and makes me want to go play the 3DS Detective Pikachu game or watch the Detective Pikachu movie. Although the game is very short, it took 13 hours for me and I was taking my time. I would buy this game if you find it on sale even for 15-20% off, It's fun for what it gives :)

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD was my first 3D Zelda game I've ever played. It instantly got me hooked into The Legend of Zelda franchise. Due to this game I went on to play Breath of The Wild and Tears of The Kingdom. The story is phenomenal with twists and turns not to mention Ghirahim being a bratty villain who is surprisingly not annoying. The improved graphics enhance the game by a lot and work perfectly with the switch. Although my favourite part of this game is the music. All the songs in this game are masterpieces one of my favourites being Eldin Volcano Theme. The music adds so much to this game it creates an atmosphere unlike no other. This game is not perfect but it is so so close, if you have a Nintendo Switch and like Zelda, you MUST buy this game. - A Non-Zelda player turned Zelda Fanatic
