Brilliant humor and an interesting world won't save Mario's latest RPG offering. Even though the stickers add a lot of variety to the turn based battles, an RPG without any character development tends to turn repetitive eventually. Unfortunately for Mario such is the case with Sticker Star. [Feb 2013]

A great reinterpretation of what makes Mario work. [March 2013, p.72]

Unfortunately for it, Paper Mario: Sticker Star has to deal with being a “pretty good” entry in a series that is usually considered amongst the best games on their respective consoles. While I did have fun with it, there were times when I felt like I was just going through the motions, and very little of the innovation or character of previous entries shone through.

When I played this as a kid I got stuck in World 2. The game absolutely **** at telling you what to do and it's generally not fun to play

It's certainly something that you've never seen before - but there's probably a very good reason for that.

Another fantastic entry in its series, and easily one of the best 3DS releases of the year. The game retains the charm and wit of previous Paper Mario titles, and its new sticker mechanic makes combat even more engaging than before.

The game's infectious spirit and sense of humour is irresistible, and it's big, too – you're not beating this one in a weekend. It's just a shame that putting stickers at the heart of the game didn't turn out to be the master-stroke it so readily could have been.

Awesome experience! Nice gameplay, puzzle solving, exploration, fun, great music, exciting and actually difficult boss battles, not much to complain about!

Intelligent Systems takes great care to shape its RPG for portable play. The world is divided into Super Mario Bros-style levels that each pack a tidy little narrative. Levelling is removed in order to keep these vignettes grind-free. And it's all wrapped up in Nintendo's typically hilarious localisation.

Often funny, thoroughly charming and a joy to play, but it is also just as often a touch too familiar, seemingly unwilling to really go out on a limb and do something crazy even if the potential to do so is immense.

An enjoyable, usually easygoing, funny RPG, with some unfortunately frustrating elements affixed to it.

A horrible disappointment that not only fails to capture the magic of its predecessors but seems oblivious to what made them popular in the first place.

This game would be bad, if it didn’t have a cuisine built into the game that could feed you every second of excitement from a spoon while playing this game, I love Mario oddesey but clown me if I’m wrong, but this game gotta be the best in the world. Hot take I liked the first two games even though they **** really balls but this game took all the potential from the first two games and achieved it by getting rid of every bad thing in the first two games. The plot in this game I spent so much time connecting to the characters and their dialogue especially bowsers dialogue. This game is 1000000/10

This is one of the most controversial opinions I have in gaming, but I don't think sticker star is bad. Is it as good as the others? -No, definitely not, but it does still have interesting ideas. First off this is very great adaptation to fit on the handheld. I feel like this is a fantastic game format for the 3DS.
A lot of people hate the sticker format of combat. I know the criticism, and I get it, but I don't fully agree. The idea is cool, I like the idea that you can collect stickers and attack based off of what you currently have, not just get so over powered that you'll destroy everything. I will say, it is dumb that some bosses are gate kept with particular stickers. The fact that you can't beat a boss off of pure skill and understanding of the sticker and boss is incredibly dumb. Secondly: The world in this game is very neat. It's all very simple in appearance, but the puzzles that are in those worlds are great. In general I find them very enjoyable to explore. Lastly: My largest problem with this game is it's dialogue and humor. It's not funny, or witty, it's kind of boring in narrative, which for a paper Mario game isn't something you like to see

Aesthetically, it’s quite charming. I also like the music. Boss battles are decent. And well… that’s about it. The rest of the game is quite bad. Especially world 3. World 3 is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever willingly subjected myself to. The only people who will enjoy this game are children who can’t notice the how flawed it is
