Building upon the already excellent work done in the remake of the first game, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is a masterclass in how to make a JRPG. Its story holds up as one of the best the genre has ever seen, even 20 years after its original release, and its completely updated gameplay further enhances the already great structure of 1st Chapter. Fans of the genre must play it.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is the payoff 1st Chapter was building toward. The dungeons and backtracking keep it just short of perfect, but the storytelling and presentation are as good as RPGs get right now.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC is an absolute masterpiece of classic JRPG storytelling. It elevates everything from its predecessor—delivering masterclass world-building, richly developed characters, and an unforgettable emotional payoff without missing a beat. The turn-based tactical combat is deep and deeply rewarding, perfectly paired with Falcom's phenomenal, evocative soundtrack. It resolves overarching plot threads with breathtaking maturity and grace. A flawless 10/10 experience that every role-playing fan must play.

Trails in the Sky Second Chapter is a superb sequel that builds meaningfully on its predecessor while modernizing one of the series’ most beloved adventures.

Building on the remake expertise of the first game, Trails in the Sky the 2nd is a masterclass in modernizing a classic. With snappier pacing, deeper turn-based combat, and dynamic direction that easily overshadows modest visuals, it effortlessly hooks you for a relentless 20-plus-hour ride.

Trails in the Sky: 2nd Chapter is a darn fine RPG and exactly what its title promises: the second half of a two-part game. It doesn't try to reinvent the formula, and its modest combat additions don't substantially change the experience. Instead, its greatest strength is the story, which finally delivers the payoff to Estelle and Joshua's journey and builds toward an exciting conclusion. If you enjoyed 1st Chapter, 2nd Chapter is an easy recommendation. It may not dramatically change the gameplay, but its stronger story, satisfying character arcs, and excellent climax make it one of the standout entries in the Trails series.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter proves that a good sequel doesn't need to reinvent everything that worked in its predecessor. Falcom sticks to the formula, delves deeper into its characters, and expands on a story that needed this second installment to feel complete. It isn't the most technically spectacular JRPG, but it is an extensive, solid, and accessible adventure.

One of the best JRPGs of the early 2000s is back in full force. The incredible amount of care and attention they’ve put into both remakes has resulted in two absolutely gems. I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing what they do with the 3rd. The badside is that they keep hiring Singa, somehow managing to make every song he touches worse. I can’t wait for the day they finally fire him.

The character growth, banter and npc dialogoue changing with the event make the world alive and fun. The continuation of the story form the 1st game is really good and make the conclusion so worthwhile. Definitely my GOTY.

If you haven't played the 1st Chapter, please look into/play that first as this is a direct sequel taking place immediately after. So, for those who played the 1st Chapter and was awed by it, I'd say just stop reading and jump right in and have a blast. For those who played 1st Chapter and thought it was good but kind of slow and therefore hesitant to get into 2nd? That's valid too but I'll just say that, 1st Chapter is like the first 40% of an epic fantasy novel where it didn't even get to the climax yet. 2nd Chapter is the payoff. Does it mean it's no talking, all high-stake, all action, all the time? Not really, but kind of! In terms of gameplay, it should be a straight upgrade because one of the biggest complaints of 1st Chapter is the limited party members, where half the game you had control of only the two protagonists. In 2nd Chapter, other than the prologue, you are pretty much at full party size the entire game. There's a 10+ hour demo that carries over save data to the full game, so unless you straight up hated the 1st Chapter, it's worth checking out.
