Mundaun

Mundaun has got an interesting story to tell and it also has multiple endings. There are quite a few secrets to be found for the curious that want to go about exploring its open world. The game clocks in at around 8 hours long for me – probably around 6 hours for most people that don’t get sidetracked too easily. Mundaun is a creative masterpiece of a horror game. If you enjoy horror games make sure you give this game a try.

Mundaun is a gripping and unique horror adventure with an immersive portrayal of rural Switzerland and a distinctive visual presentation that only gets more uncanny the longer you look at it.

With games like Ghost of Tsushima and Final Fantasy VII Remake becoming the standard, few people are going to look at a title like this and jump at the chance to play it. Mundaun will attract its targeted, tiny demographic: those who can see past the dated visuals and lackluster controls. Fortunately, the hand-drawn textures might rope in a few people, and the sepia-esque colors stand out compared to other first-person adventure titles. Mundaun is technologically impotent but makes up for it with excellent atmosphere, sense of place, and storytelling. If you can see past its flaws, Mundaun is a wonderful, short adventure title.

The game’s sketchbook aesthetic works favorably to conjure the impression of a Northern European folk tale and offset its rough-around-the-edges character.

There's something here that horror enthusiasts will definitely enjoy, and even though it might not become one of your favourite horror experiences of all time, Mundaun is still a game that deserves your attention, at least for one playthrough.

Mundaun is a horror adventure with a compelling mystery, all wrapped up in some well-executed horror. Unfortunately, the game is often weighed down by some of its core mechanics, such as combat and inventory management. Despite that, it’s still a unique experience that offers a fresh approach to the horror genre.

Unique visuals, intriguing story and setting : even if it feels technically outdated, Mundaun succeeds in making you want to solve its mysteries. But it has many issues, starting with your character's sluggishness and how action and stealth can feel erratic and painful.

Beautiful, hand drawn work of art. The gameplay is basic and a bit clunky, but it is of secondary importance anyway. The dreamlike, nightmarish atmosphere, achieved with music, sound design, animation and the beautifully strange Romansh language is the reason you play this. It's not a horror game in the usual sense of the word. No jump scares or any real horror survival mechanics. Just the constant unsettling feeling of being a part of the dark and creepy side of Swiss folklore. What more can you ask for?

Spectacular. The game grabbed me from the very start and I love it . The hand drawn, yet 3D visuals are unlike anything I have ever seen and are both beautiful and haunting. The story unfolds wonderfully. It is creepy but not too intense. Bravo!!

Mundaun is one of those indie horror games that shines solely because of how strange it is. A meticulous and passionate design for a world based on the hand drawn art style of pencil scribblings. The atmosphere and horror are just that much more effective because of its swiss folklore roots and spoken dialogue. Something can be said for the simplistic jank and traditional Amnesia style horror that games in this genre have. An item collecting based puzzle game with very, VERY basic combat and threats. The game shows a lot of promise and delivers from a narrative driven horror perspective. Otherwise its basic, has next to no real threats from the monsters, its short, it has strange game mechanic progression. But I still really liked it for some reason. Sounds one more game to try get our money. The graphics arent so impressive... I mean for an horror game is very okay. Maybe is better just save ur money.
