Minigames, as always, tread a fine line between clever and stupid. [Jan 2004, p.87]

The biggest enhancements come in the single-player experience - always the worst part of the previous games. This time, Nintendo has clearly put some thought into it and come up with a story mode that actiually has a point, rather than being a player-vs-computer rehash of Party mode. [Jan 2004, p.113]

Were spirits to play a game while they waited in Purgatory, surely it would be Mario Party. It can take an age to get to the end, and the minigames are interspersed with a turgid board game section that tests the patience to its limits. [Jan 2004, p.109]

in this Mario Party you have been transported into someone's dream and these boards are all dream-related but who is this person who's dreaming when you go through these worlds they don't tell you that but you'll probably find now when you keep grinding through the boards give it a go and let you let me see what your reviews are

Everything is perfect. Star Spirits returns from paper Mario 1,
Story mode its awesome. Characters, boards are fun

This is so far my favorite Mario Party, despite having played a few others. I love the minigames, the boards (for the most part), the whole dream setting, the capsule system - these are all nearly perfect. It is a much more stressful game than the later parts, you can never quite foresee what will happen next, and honestly, that's great. It is also crazy fun to play with others. The only slight issue I have is the single player "story mode". You have to make Mini Bowsers lose all their coins mainly through minigames and that's the whole thing. Mario Party 4 has one where you play normally against three other computers and that one also has much more content, so I wish it was a bit different. It's still decent though, I prefer this single player mode to the one in Mario Party 6. This fifth game also has great extra modes, my favorite being card party. There is overall so much to love about this game, I'm glad I played it.

Adds a few nice modes to the Mario Party series, but if you already own "Mario Party 4" there is absolutely no reason to upgrade.

As far as party games go, this is still your best bet. [Jan 2003, p.49]

If you don’t intend to play with friends or family that much don’t bother with the title unless you haven’t played a Mario Party title before.
62
If you’ve already played Mario Party in any of its other incarnations, there’s really nothing new for you here. The mini-games and boards may be different, but the game’s the same.

In my mind, said mixed bag, when emptied onto the table, would yield all manner of mostly shiny looking baubles, most of which have some redeeming features but very few of which are worth pursuing for longer than a couple of minutes.

The only laughs come from knowing your friends are suffering the same punishment you are...They're cursing this to anyone within earshot, just like you. [Dec 2003, p.154]

After what we got with Mario Party 4, 5 feels like an afterthought in every way. The boards aren't very interesting, the minigames (with the exception of a couple of them) aren't too great, and it feels like Hudson Soft wasn't really trying. Oh well. There are other 2003 Mario games to play.

Starting To Get Slightly Tiring Mario Party 5 is still a fun time despite it starting to feel iffy.

Mario Party 5 is completely average. The big offender is the boards, they are some of the worst i have ever seen in the Mario Party franchise [but at least your not all in a car, looking at you MP 9 and 10]. Everything else is your average fare, minigames, star-collecting, all that. Overall, theres no need to play this if you have MP 4, 6 or 7. If you going to pick a MP on the GameCube, then it would be 4 for beginners, 6 for veterans. MP 5 is the worst MP on GameCube, enough said.

When I first played Mario party 5 pretty much is a dumpster fire it’s a really bad Mario party NEVER WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GAME UNLESS YOUR COLLECTING ALL MARIO PARTIES it’s a lot worst then 4,6,7 4,6,7 were awesome Mario parties like there a lot better especially Mario party 4 it has the best mini games same with 6 and 7 like the graphics gameplay mini games in MP4,6,7 were awesome except MP5,MP5 is horrible one of the worst Mario parties ever
SummaryMario Party 5 gives the Mario Party series new game boards, more than 60 new minigames, new playable characters, an expanded single-player mode and, of course, more multiplayer madness than you can handle. In Mario Party 5, Mario and his friends are trying to restore peace to Dream World by racing around a collection of game boards. Th... Read More
