Pokemon Brilliant Diamond4
Dec 8, 2021
A brilliant example of Pokémon devs pulling an Illumination and going for low budget, high return. The new stuff added is few, far between and mostly negligible (super Contests, woohoo). The foundation is inherently flawed. Did you want all the stuff Platinum added? Too bad. The art design, in trying to replicate the old games, regresses in a series that wasn't too great with graphics to begin with, and thanks to the EXP Share, the game is astonishingly easy. I was overleveled starting from the 1st Badge and ending at the Champion. The Competitive teams that the Elite Four and Champion carry only make an impact if you're going in blind, and I say all this with a self-added permadeath rule. No one died, how surprising. If you want to play through Sinnoh, just get Platinum.

Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut9

As a remake, this is nothing special at all, but as a game, it's great. 4/6 of the gameplay styles are fun, and the ones that aren't are very short. The game controls very well and the soundtrack is excellent.

Sonic Free Riders is the opposite of Bethesda. It doesn't work. It just doesn't work.

It's rather short and not very beginner friendly, but once you get the hang of it, you'll have a lot of fun.

It is amazing just how little this game does as a party game. The production values are awful, and the game pales in comparison to any Mario Party.

Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll8
Jan 2, 2020
This game is my guilty pleasure of the series. It's rather limited and easy, but unlike 3D, I don't mind. Probably because it's not as much as 3D in any category. It also helps that Step and Roll was motion controlled, but didn't have a jump feature. Or maybe I'm just being nostalgia blind.

This game is bland. Too bland.

Super Monkey Ball Jr.3
Jan 2, 2020
It may have been impressive at the time, but now there's barely any reason to play this. Unless you're a collector. It uses a D-Pad in a 3D space and the control feels off. Probably due to the aforementioned D-Pad usage.

Mario Party 57
Jan 2, 2020
After what we got with Mario Party 4, 5 feels like an afterthought in every way. The boards aren't very interesting, the minigames (with the exception of a couple of them) aren't too great, and it feels like Hudson Soft wasn't really trying. Oh well. There are other 2003 Mario games to play.

Shadow the Hedgehog8
Jan 2, 2020
I find fun in interesting places. As bad as the story is, as bland as the production values are, and as repetitive as the game can be, I genuinely have a lot of fun playing it. The guns don't hurt the gameplay, Shadow's abilities are used well, and the control isn't as bad as people say it is. At least to me.

Mario Kart 646
Jan 2, 2020
Mario Kart 64 doesn't really have a middle ground. You either love it or you think it aged poorly. I stand towards the latter. The track design isn't all that great, the characters are unbalanced and the rubber banding makes me want to throw the cartridge at a chainsaw. Okay, an exaggeration, but you get the idea. An innovative kart racer at the time, but yesterday's news now.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!9
Jan 2, 2020
This is my favorite Mario Kart. It's unique in many ways. The 2 in 1 character gimmick, the special items, and it's one of the most hectic games in the series. Most Mario Kart games tend to be brushed aside once the newest one comes out, but I don't feel that's the case with Double Dash. It could do with a bit more content, though.

Sonic Colors10
Jan 2, 2020
It's really hard for me to choose between 9 and 10 for Sonic Colors. It's my favorite Sonic game, the level design is great, the soundtrack is great, the length and difficulty make it a great first game for those who haven't played Sonic before and it was a critical success in a time where Sonic was batting low. The control throws me off, though. It can be stiff sometimes.

It's clear this is an artistic game, but it's a darn great one. It's able to tell a great story while having humorous writing, and it plays well, too. It's a snag, with it's $10 tag.

Mario Party 109

This is what happens when you try to make a multiplayer game into a single player experience. The minigames are lackluster and the main game is boring. You're best off avoiding this one.

Mario Party 99
Dec 27, 2019
I'm in the minority when I say this, but Mario Party 9 is my favorite in the series. The gameplay is a large shift, but I still find enjoyment in it, the production values are great and the minigames are some of the best I've played. Your enjoyment of Mario Party 9 will vary depending on how much of the older games you've played. If you've spent a long time playing the older games, the shift in gameplay might not be your cup of tea.

PokePark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure8
Dec 27, 2019
PokePark, as simple as it is, is a fun game to me. It's fun to explore, the Attractions are mostly good, and the game can keep the younger crowd occupied for a while. That's just it, though. The game is best enjoyed by the younger crowd. Older gamers will probably get bored quickly.

It is downright amazing just how broken this game is. The music is awesome, Sonic can be fun to play with at times, and it's clear what they wanted to do, but there are too many glitches and poor gameplay choices.

The game doesn't do enough to be truly great. It's not a bad game, but it's too safe. The Classic Sonic gameplay was unnecessary, while the rest of the gameplay is passable at best.

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam10
Dec 27, 2019
I don't think Paper Jam is as good as the masterpiece that preceded it, but it's still a fantastic game. The gameplay is still fun, the music is still great (maybe even my favorite soundtrack in the series), and it gave Paper Mario the treatment that Sticker Star wishes it could give. Now, if only the story was a little better...

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team10
Dec 26, 2019
This is my favorite game of all time. It took what made Bowser's Inside Story a fantastic game, made the positives even stronger and removed the few negatives I had. I recommend this to any fan of RPGs, and any Mario fan (unless they don't like RPGs)

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story10
Dec 26, 2019
My favorite game on the DS. It's writing is humorous, the gameplay is smooth and refined, the graphics have a charming cartoon style to them, the music is great, and it's one of the few RPGs (that isn't Pokemon) that I'm willing to play over and over.

Sonic Shuffle5
Dec 26, 2019
Was Sonic's attempt at the Mario Party formula a good one? No, not really. The gameplay isn't as fun, since it's more predictable, less frantic, more boring, and there aren't as many minigames to reduce the tedium. Not that the minigames are that good, anyway. The story is decent and the game didn't have as much to compete with, but it could've been much better.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD7
Dec 26, 2019
I wouldn't call Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz HD a bad game, far from it, but it's a subpar remake. The physics are rather loose and I've died a lot early on because of that (you go from 0 to 100 with the slightest downhill slope). The levels don't work as well with an analog stick as they do with a Wii Remote, and though some of the old music returns (music that I enjoy greatly), I can't help but be unimpressed by the new music, and the music returning from other installments feels out of place. This may seem harsh for a not very low rating, but I'm mainly addressing what the remake didn't do so well in, since it's a REMAKE. Any issues that could be addressed with the game itself are better suited for a review of the original. If you don't have a Wii but like the Super Monkey Ball franchise, then I'd say go ahead. In all other cases, just play the original, unless you really hate motion controls.
