The best game of my life. The idea of ancient Greece was great and the use of the Titans was great gameplay great characterizationwas great. The best voice acting. The best music that fits the game environment.

An outstanding PS2 game, which is very above its year. Great new mechanics and puzzles that require you to actually think about the solution. Still, for some puzzles hints could be very useful for more casual players. Yet, a great game.

Muy bueno, para ser un juego del 2005 envejeció MUY BIEN. Tiene su grado de dificultad, los puzzles no son tan faciles como los de la version 2018.

Uma das maiores franquias da história dos games, God of War marcou a infância de todos os amantes dos jogos. O game trouxe grande impacto no mercado e muitas inovações. God of War revolucionou o gênero hack and slash e estabeleceu novos padrões para jogos de ação e aventura 3D. Também trouxe gráficos incríveis para a época, que extraíam toda a potência do hardware do PS2, além de mostrar uma narrativa pesada, trágica, envolvente e digna de cinema, onde acompanhamos o Fantasma de Esparta, chamado Kratos, em busca de vingança contra o deus Ares.Mesmo com toda essa grandiosidade, o jogo tem algo que não o deixa ser perfeito. A jornada em busca da Caixa de Pandora — no capítulo chamado The Architect's Tomb e, logo em seguida, na saída de Kratos do submundo, no capitulo The Path of Hades — é cansativa e pode até desanimar em determinados momentos. Pessoalmente, acho essas duas fases muito arrastadas, apesar de serem muito importantes para a história.Mesmo assim, God of War continua sendo um dos grandes da era clássica e uma grande referência no mundo dos games.

The beginning of the best franchise ever made a dream come to reality and the journey is full of amazing lore and feelings that all the other franchises are jealous

Finally got around to playing and beating the first game in the series. My first playthrough was 8 hours. This game is really good for its time, and it's a good start for the GOW Series. The hack-and-slash gameplay with Kratos' Blades of Chaos is really fun, engaging, and brutal. You can do some really cool combos, and they are very fun and satisfying to pull off. There are also four cool magic abilities that you unlock throughout the game and upgrade. My favorite ability and the one I used the most was Poseidon's Rage, which creates an AOE electrical storm around Kratos, which is very good for crowd control and taking care of enemies quickly, and very useful. The other three abilities (Medusa's Gaze, Zeus's Fury, Army of Hades) were okay at best, and the best ability out of the four is Poseidon's Rage in my opinion. There is another weapon you can unlock called the Blade of Artemis. It's slow, but it does more damage. It's cool and all, but I just ended up sticking with the Blades of Chaos, as that weapon gameplay is way more fun and better. Some of the enemies in this game I didn't really find that difficult, but there are some annoying enemies, like the Sayturs, Wraiths, and the Harpies. The level design was okay in my opinion. There were some annoyances and things I did not like in some levels, but I got through them eventually, so it's no big deal. However, I will say that the worst level in this game is easily the Path of Hades. The level/game design in that level IS NOT IT. I hope whoever came up with the idea of that stupid blade tower near the end of the level got fired. I'm so serious. Terrible game design. But besides that, the level design was fine for the most part. There are only 3 major bosses in this game, as far as I know. Of course, the final boss was the best one; it was kinda peak. The soundtrack in this game is REALLY GOOD. The story was pretty straightforward, but still good. It's really cool to learn about the lore. To conclude, this game is a pretty good start to the series. I had only played GOW 2018 and Ragnarok before this, so it was nice to play the first game of the series. I will say though, that this game could benefit from a remake, and luckily, we will be getting the whole OG trilogy remake in the future, so I will be looking forward to that. I would come back to this game again and play it here and there. Highly recommend, especially if you want to get into the GOW series. 8/10.

The pacing improves in the later sections, but the early game feels slower and less engaging.From a gameplay perspective, the game shows its age in several areas, including simple puzzle design, occasionally imprecise platforming sections, uneven difficulty spikes, and controls that are not always fully responsive. Despite these issues, the game maintains a strong identity and a good variety of gameplay situations. L’ambientazione mitologica greca è uno degli elementi meglio riusciti del gioco. Il mondo è coerente, ricco di creature iconiche e momenti epici che accompagnano il percorso di Kratos dall’inizio alla fine. Anche il protagonista è molto efficace in termini di presenza scenica, pur restando un **** più simbolico che profondamente sviluppato. La struttura narrativa è invece più debole. La storia è lineare e spesso poco approfondita, con **** secondari che servono principalmente a sostenere il viaggio del protagonista senza avere grande sviluppo autonomo. Il ritmo migliora nel finale, ma la prima parte risulta meno incisiva. Dal punto di vista del gameplay emergono alcuni limiti tipici dell’epoca, come puzzle semplici, sezioni platform non sempre precise, difficoltà irregolare con picchi frustranti e un sistema di controllo che in alcuni momenti non risponde in modo perfetto. Nonostante questo, il gioco riesce comunque a mantenere una forte identità e una buona varietà di situazioni. Nel complesso rimane un titolo fondamentale e ancora oggi molto rispettato, soprattutto per il suo impatto storico sul genere action.

Joguei GOW clássico em 2026 , achei muito injusto o jogo ser sempre punitivo principalmente de coisas básicas como pular , andar pelas beiradas pindurado , o combate é muito bom mas tem essas fases de exagero de dificuldade desde andar em pilares , saltar e usar golpes pra desviar de buracos de lava , paredes que esmagam , correr em cima de um rolo gigante no corredor , pilares que vc tem que pular para não ser atingidos por braços de lâminas e não desequilibrar para não cair , pra que tanta dificuldade toda hora tem que passar raiva tá Loko , jogo é pra divertir não se tornar cansativo , pronto falei.

QUE JOGO FANTÁSTICO, a trilha sonora dele marcou a minha infância, uma das melhores trilha sonoras dos jogos, a história fantástica, muito bom, essa franquia é a melhor de todos os jogos na minha opinião.

Jogo perfeito, berço da lenda que se tornou a franquia, o personagem Kratos carrega nas costas uma legião de fãs que faz com que o jogo além de ser ótimo, nunca vai deixar de ser perfeito pra jogar em qualquer tempo.

Despite the fact that this is the first god of war game in the series it still is a good one. The story is deep and complex. It explains how kratos got where he is and explains how deep his suffering really is. I played this on an original ps2 slim console and the graphics, in my opinion, were so good. I did in fact use component cables, which do give you a sharper image, but I still think it looks great on composite, tho it is more blurry. The combat was smooth, and the level design was smart. So in conclusion I will recommend this to anyone willing to play a fun, deep and gory game and if you are a fan of the series but still haven't played it, this is a must!

Fantastic action adventure game, really holds up well. Best aspects are the combat and the level design, great puzzles and platforming bits as well. The story sets up the saga nicely, the cinematics are of course a bit outdated. Combat felt great, a bit repetitive but when you are stronger you really feel unstoppable, movements is really smooth and in later games it even gets better. Looking forward to the remakes!

Peak Playstation 2 cinematic game. Give this game a chance, the graphics hold up and so does the story. There is only one tedious section that keeps this game from being perfect.

God of War (2005) fue el inicio de todo. Combate intenso, mitología griega y una estructura muy bien medida. Para su época fue un bombazo y sentó las bases de lo que vendría después.

For the start of a legendary saga, it's pretty good for its time; nowadays there are things that could be improved and they should urgently remake it.

Good game with great atmosphere, solid graphics, soundtrack and excellent combat. It has just the right amount of exploration and puzzles to keep the combat from feeling too constant. The story is quite cliché and not very original, a typical vendetta between mortals and gods that we’ve seen countless times before. There are few options when it comes to weapons and powers. Combat becomes fairly repetitive toward the end, especially with certain enemies that are damage sponges, requiring you to repeat the same pattern for quite a while until they finally go down.

this game is one of the best games i have ever played, the soundtrack is magnificent, the level design is great and the combat is fun! though the game should be harder and medusa´s gaze should be heavily nerfed, and if this gets a remake i´ll buy it in the same second, STOP LOOKING FOR REVIEWS JUST PLAY THIS MASTERPIECE

bem... eu n vou fazer igual os outros jogos que eu coloco em tópicos, mas tem uma coisa que separa esse jogo do 10 e ficar nos 9... a fase do templo de pandora... éuma ótima fase, mas é MUITO grande, mais de 50 porcento dojogo se passa nessa fase que é desnecessáriamente grande, vc volta na mesma sala 3 vezes, pra que?

El juego que lo inició todo verdaderamente una joya y una obra maestra de la franquicia de playstation, ya le hace falta un remake por favor

This is another one of those games I got hooked on as a kid way too young to be playing in the first place and have developed a deep love for ever since. There are so many moments in this game that perfectly capture what it meant to be a bad ass anti hero in the mid 2000's and I think it all holds up extremely well to do this day including the actual gameplay. It might not as polished as more modern hack and slash titles, but I can't imagine anyone tearing through enemies with Kratos's well diversified move set and not having a blast doing it. Kratos is strong and with proper mastery of the right moves for the right enemies you will truly feel like a god in combat. Aura and combat aside the games theme, settings, story, level design, exploration, platforming and puzzles are all still very fun and rewarding. I really don't feel like this game has any bad moments or parts I wish were different and yes i'm even including the climb out of hades, maybe i'm just a masochist, but I thought the spinning spiked columns were a fun challenge.

Definitely a strong entry in what I consider to be the best game franchise, featuring one of the best characters as well. The gameplay is simple, smooth, and free of major bugs, a pure Hack and Slash experience, just the way I like it. And then there’s Kratos, an incredibly well-developed character who I personally adore. In my opinion, all three games from the classic God of War trilogy truly deserve a remake, as the stories and action are timeless but could benefit from modern visuals and mechanics.

First play in 2025 and holy God of War what i've missed back in the day. I haven't been a fan of Kratos and hack & slash games in general, exept for Prince of Persia which was my reference in 2000's. This game has it all, a direct but engaging story, beautiful levels and splendid camera angles and direction, the combat is fun, the enemies are balanced, the difficulty is perfect (exept for the last boss but is forgivable, with also the possibility to down-level afer few deaths) the lower point is the balance-walk on ledges, and climbing those ade's towers full of blades, but is practically a technical gap that all games had in that period, Prince of Persia too. For the rest, a splendid game, and a saga-starter that will keep you engaged for all the playtrough. Vote: 10

Great game — one that stands the test of time. I played it when I was a kid and recently played it again on an emulator, and it’s still really fun. The gameplay is very well thought out — a mix of action and puzzle-solving that balances the adrenaline and keeps it from getting boring. The story is **** game is definitely worth playing — just don’t play on Hard or God mode, because it’ll feel too difficult and ruin the experience

This might just be the best PlayStation 2 game ever. I can't think of really any major flaws with the game. Even hated parts I enjoyed. One part I don't like last like 5 minutes (or 30 minutes if you keep falling down, if you know, you know). Pandoras Temple is one of the best levels in any game, period.

It's a great game, the gameplay for its age is spectacular, the story is true that it is not told as in other installments but seeing how old it is it seems to me that it is quite good, besides it was the release that started the saga, its bosses as in all its installments are spectacular, the enemies seem better to me than in the Nordic saga because I think they are spectacular and more iconic, the only thing that I find reprehensible is the entrance to Pandora's temple since it seems a bit boring and tedious, Pandora's temple seems to me to be good and has quite interesting levels although it is not the best of the saga since in the 2 it seems to me that it is much better done, in short a great game which is worth playing it and deserves my rating of 95
