Expelled!
Expelled may not be as original as its predecessor, and the cast of characters isn’t quite as colorful for my money, but this is an extremely worthy follow-up with an excellent setting and a more fulfilling mystery. This is a school that’s full of secrets, and dedicated players will find numerous jaw-dropping moments hidden in its darkest corners.
Expelled! stands out as an engaging and challenging experience for fans of narrative and investigation games. With its looping mechanics, the game tests the player's patience and cunning, requiring attention to detail and strategic planning.
Expelled! might be built on the bones of Overboard! but it manages to improve on it both mechanically and in terms of story. Verity is a great protagonist, and the many mysteries linked to the characters and the school itself are a pleasure to unravel. A run can end in 15 minutes and in utter failure but still feel like progress. The idea that turning more towards evil opens up new options is a good one but simply choosing the red option to get results sometimes feels artificial. And the characters are strong enough that I wanted to interact with more of them. Expelled! doesn’t innovate mechanically but the narrative is engrossing and fun, with a great heroine at its core.

Resident Evil Requiem delivers an amazing survival horror experience. The atmosphere is dark and tense, reminding me of the classic Resident Evil games while still feeling modern. The graphics look fantastic and the gameplay is smooth and exciting. Every area feels detailed and the sound design makes the horror moments even better. The story keeps you interested and the characters are memorable. This game shows why the Resident Evil series is still one of the best in gaming. For me, it deserves a perfect 10/10.

My first experience with this type of game and I had a lot of fun with it for the most part. I kind of hit a brick wall with my progress on it but pushed through with trial and error to get to the ending.

Expelled! excels at transferring its spiritual predecessor Overboard!’s charm, replayability and depth of choice to a boarding school setting, though its report card says it must try harder at putting its new morality mechanic into practice.

Expelled is a wicked good time, with each playthrough of the game building on the one before it. However, even though you will be replaying that fateful day repeatedly, it doesn’t feel tedious or exhausting. Inkle constantly builds upon events, opening up opportunities and new outcomes for Verity. It’s a delightful story that encourages you to experiment and be bad.

Far from cribbing Overboard's homework, Expelled! is a tighter, more focused detective story that really makes the most of its replayable timeloop structure.
