This woke garbage game full of lgbtq slop while making the white male the bad guys trying to protect the border is a total joke AND racist despite the black **** character getting a "that's racist" command towards the white male characters. The positive reviews from critics are all leftist septum piercing shrills paid to leave a good review in hopes we will play this woke trash

Terrible writing, repetitive gameplay and annoying characters. Waste of time.

I don't understand why this game is so badly recieved in the metacritic. This gem has a great story, characters and artstyle. I enjoyed the experience quite a bit. But I have to admit, combat mechanics aren't great, gets boring and repetetive pretty quickly. I also stumbled upon some performance issues during combat, but it was nothing too serious. If you are not against "woke propaganda" (just some inclusivity and anti government rhetorics) I definetly urge you to play this gem.

Great game, I really liked the active dialogue system, the characters can be interrupted by other people and then they can continue their dialogue. The story is quite easy and enjoyable, the leveling system is simple, and the music is good. I like playing music with the characters. I really enjoyed the game. Although they were a bit negative at first, we eventually became friends. The world is beautiful.

Maybe it's hard to get into the pace of the game from the first chapters but the further it goes the better all the elements become: conversations, interactions with incredible world and astonishing companions, even combat which may seem simple but it's really interesting. And the idea of language ruling the reality weaved into the plot is a mind-blower.10 rock bands out of 10!

There are three things I hate the most in this world: authoritarianism, stupidity and bigotry. The people who made this game are so bigoted, they would go over LGBTQ+ people's dead bodies, if it would help them to make money. And they are stupid enough to believe the identity politics are the best thing that happened to humanity! Wow. This offensive, stupid game-lookalike piece of crap isn't worthy a serious review, because it's such an obvious attempt of cash grab from deluded wokists. If one day someone will be making a list of wokist games, this one will be at the very bottom of the **** barrel. Stay away, for your own sake.

I've definitely played games that looked bad, or sounded bad, or were insultingly poorly written, or just plain weren't fun. It's only rarely that you get a game like Dustborn that is all of the above at the same time. I would not play this game on a bet, I would not play it for free, I would not play it ever again.

How did Tornquist go from my favorite game "the longest journey" to this thing, that’s the question ? ? Bad on all plans.

Representation, equality, love... lofty goals that developers often claim to pursue in their games. Unfortunately, Dustborn falls short of achieving these ideals. Let’s start with the premise. The idea of weaponizing voice, speech, and words is undeniably intriguing and fresh for gaming. But while this mechanic has potential, it isn’t groundbreaking. It echoes earlier works like Preacher (1995–2000) by Vertigo Comics, written by Garth Ennis and illustrated by Steve Dillon. That said, the execution here is overshadowed by a major flaw: the protagonist. The main character comes across as an unlikable bully. From the very beginning, the game thrusts players into morally murky territory as the "heroes" murder police officers who are merely doing their jobs. While one character shows a shred of remorse, the rest of the crew seems disturbingly indifferent. This disregard for human life becomes a pattern, and the main character consistently dominates the narrative, imposing their views on both the group and the player. Then there’s the promise of representation. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I should feel seen, celebrated even, in games like this. Instead, Dustborn serves up a diverse cast that feels shallow and disconnected. I couldn’t relate to any of them. Compare this to games like Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, or Skyrim, where customizable characters allow players to truly inhabit the game world. These titles offer freedom, letting players forge their own identities within the story. In contrast, Dustborn’s approach feels prescriptive, forcing players to engage with a cast that’s diverse on the surface but ultimately hollow. It’s not all bad, though. The art style is phenomenal. The world of Dustborn is visually striking, with bold colors, inventive designs, and a unique aesthetic that’s immediately captivating. The visuals promise a depth and vibrancy that the narrative sadly doesn’t deliver. Ultimately, Dustborn exemplifies the pitfalls of token representation and heavy-handed storytelling. Its compelling concept and breathtaking art are undermined by an unlikable protagonist and a cast that fails to resonate. Representation in games matters, but it needs to be meaningful and relatable, not just a checkbox. To developers: if you're going to tackle these themes, do better. There’s an audience hungry for authentic stories that celebrate diversity without sacrificing player agency or meaningful connection.

Es ist kein schlechtes Spiel, aber die Cuts in der Story, wie zum Beispiel vom Diner mitten ins Rennen zu geraten und nebenbei erfährst du dann was Sache ist und kannst dann im Comic lesen, dass wir nach dem Diner überfallen wurden, finde ich blöd. Wieso wurde das nicht gezeigt? Zudem macht es dieses ganze Xier, xiem, etc. ziemlich schwer die richtigen Antworten zu erwischen bzw. so zu antworten, wie ich eigentlich möchte. Mehr Offenheit für LGBTQ+ ist ja ok, wird hier aber so schrecklich rüber gebracht, dass man davon genervt **** Anfang zieht sich das Game echt und die Gespräche waren nicht wirklich gut, aber dann wird´s irgendwann immer besser und gegen Ende ein richtig guter Showdown. Hätte die Enden auch noch gerne animiert, anstatt nur als Comic gesehen, hat aber zumindest in sofern gepasst, dass in dem Spiel die ganze Zeit dem Comic gearbeitet wurde.Manche Gespräche waren nicht nur äußerst lang und langweilig, sondern auch echt frustrierend, weil man´s denen fast nie Recht machen konnte und dauernd -, -- bekommen hat. Da bekommt man das Gefühl, dass man immer nur alles falsch macht, was dann wenig Spaß erzeugt. Gegen Ende habe ich mit denselben Gedankengängen dann nur noch + und ++ bekommen. Fand ich dann schon komisch.Definitiv keine Schnitte gegen Telltale Games und ich bin dem Game gegenüber auch nur zu 51% positiv gestimmt.

Das ist so mit das schlechteste, was ich je gesehen habe. Das kann man nicht spielen. Selbst wenn man die politische Agenda bei Seite lässt, ist das hier ein von Grund auf langweiliges und generisches Game. Aber es existiert ja nur aus Agenda-Gründen. Wenn das ein gutes Game wäre würde das wohl auch niemanden stören, oder wenn man das vernünftig rüber bringen würde. Aber so kann man das nicht raus bringen.

Terrible gameplay, the writing is sub-par, and in general the setting and theme are boring, even outside of the less-then subtile messaging.

Absolute slop made for the "modern audience." The fact that this was even released shows how delusional these companies are. Ugly, boring and devoid of all merit or artistic value.

This game comes with an interesting aesthetic and several novel gameplay ideas. Unfortunately, the execution is severely lacking, and the game's incessant need to bash you over the head with what I can only describe as extremist political views, quickly wears thin. The latter is particularly unfortunate, as the topic itself is quite interesting, and would be well worth exploring if done so in a somewhat nuanced and intellectually astute manner. This game doesn't seem interested in that, and so here we are. There are also several game breaking bugs, making the game seem rushed. This is particularly strange, seeing as how it spent nearly eight(!) years in development. I cannot recommend buying this game, even if you support its strong political messaging. There are other games that do this better.

What a complete embarrasment for the gaming industry. White middle age men from Norway feeling some sort of white guilt and the need to empower a diverse cast of teenagers. In some of the most bland generic way possible, it's like a starter kit for the modern audience. Maby they -woke- up after this shameful game and reconsidered what gamers actually want. We want good games that's genuine and don't pander to a non-existing audience trying to preach with the usual **** we see in media these days. It's so boring, its so played out, it's lame, no one wants it and the numbers show it. And these guys actually set up booth in Tokyo game show thinking the japanese would be intrerested in this garbage? That speaks how delusional these people are.

Very good game, with interesting and unique setting. Good characters and dialogue, simple yet enjoyable combat. Very nice art style, music and voice acting. This is how modern adventure games should look like.

As someone living in the desert southwest, this was extremely offensive to me. I don't mind if people from foreign countries adopting food, fashion, etc. from us desert dwellers. Appropriate all you want. But for a Norwegian developer to invest millions in a massive F-U to people who live in the desert in the US is revolting and shameful. You're not superior to the people of the southwest, racially or otherwise, as much as you fantasize you are.

This game is against the humans rights and what humans should be with a false good messages. The gameplay is outdated, static. Please love yourself and your next one, be careful about your words, think before you speak even if you think it’s a bad person, learn to know this person before you speak.

Dustborn offers a promising concept but falters with lackluster gameplay and unengaging storytelling. Disappointing overall.

Dustborn is a game that makes the narrative the focus, everything is functional to it and leads us to reflect on the use of words, written and spoken, and what they are capable of doing to others. Despite a few graphical imperfections and a few bugs, which are resolved by simply reloading the game, they do not destabilise this title which, as previously mentioned, emphasises relationships and reflection.
