Dragon Age: The Veilguard2
Nov 5, 2024
Dragon Age origins was a dark fantasy game with gripping writing, an intresting plot, and charachters your genuinly grew to care about, and had layers to them. A return to form would have been to return to that. Dragon Age Origins had a diverse cast as well, but it wasn't something that was paraded around, nor something the game talked down to you about. It had these charachters, and nobody really minded, or talked about it. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is my least favorite entry in this franchise by far. It takes a childish attitude towards diversity and leaves no room for interpitation. The writing is incomprehensibly bad. The charachters use terms, and words that are not suited for a fantasy settings, everybody is quirky, and there is no depth, or engagement in any conversations. There are barely any choices that matter, nothing significant that carries over from previous games, and your charachter can be nothing but a supportive care bear. Bioware has been dead for a long time. This is merely it's corpse being pupeted by EA executives, to squeeze the last drops of lifeblood out of an already turbulent franchise

Terrible gameplay, the writing is sub-par, and in general the setting and theme are boring, even outside of the less-then subtile messaging.
