Really fun with a lot of new gameplay variety. The lore was interesting as well, for the first time in a while.

Thus is the crown jewel of the whole modern DOOM trilogy. My pick for GOTY this year easily, despite being a DLC (it's as long as most full games that aren't bloated by filler). Gets close to a perfect mix of qualities of the three games - storytelling, "combat chess", platforming, ambience, gfx, a huge toolset for both grounded and high mobility fight. Just incredible that the whole mix of mechanics even works, let alone working so perfectly.

Id software has yet again proved that they're the best in the genre they themselves essentially created. 10/10 an absolute must play for FPS fans.

A follow up to a game I really enjoyed. I do think the spear is a bit of a let down but I loved the dlc overall. The lore implications for the future titles were incredible to see take place. Well worth the purchase!

If I wanted to play Doom Eternal, I would've gotten an expansion for Doom Eternal or replayed that game. This DLC or "expansion" completely gets rid of everything I enjoyed from the base game's gameplay loop. Gone is the shield, the smooth transitions between parrying and melee. Instead the developer has favored a much more fast paced, dash friendly system where you're constantly dashing, parrying by using a spear attack, so on and so forth... it gets very annoying quickly because it feels like an amalgamation of some elements from Eternal and some from the Dark Ages, but without really caring about how those game's systems and mechanics work in conjunction with one another. I don't get it... why favor those who dislike your base game by compromising everything that made the base game good in your expansion?!?

Honestly, for years I thought DOOM Eternal would be the peak of the series.Especially after playing The Dark Ages. I thought it was great, but it was missing the high level of skill that DOOM has, and the real value of every tool and your ability to combine them together to truly master the **** with the Revelations expansion, I realized that they actually managed to surpass themselves. Especially after getting the shield and the flail at the same **** ability to move around with the chain, parry, and flail, when you use them perfectly together, creates incredible movement and feels extremely satisfying.Focusing on two guns also lets you smoothly switch between two weapons that fit the fight and the enemies, along with the flail and shield. (When you assign the fourth and fifth buttons to them.) It becomes incredibly easy and **** game also improved exploration, and the idea of obstacles that you have to overcome using the flail and shield is really great and well done. The game also offers a good cinematic experience, with a story that actually moves the events forward.I think the only things this game is missing to completely surpass Eternal are faster weapon switching, more value for each weapon during combat, and better enemy design and **** this expansion is still amazing and beautiful, and honestly, anyone who keeps downplaying it probably just doesn’t know how to play it properly.Thank you, id, for this masterpiece. ️

In an act of eternal defiance, ID software emerges atop a steep hill and delivers perhaps the most consummate and fulfilling DOOM experience, from both a narrative and a gameplay perspective, ever.

id Software does it AGAIN! Revelations takes the bar and sets it another rung higher. The new content, combat, additional monsters and story telling push the DooM franchise further into GOATed territory. id Software continues to define the FPS genre. 10/10 absolutely loved this DLC.

Bigger, faster, stronger. Everything that makes a good DOOM game is here, from the exhilarating combat, to the high concept yet reserved storytelling, riddling level design, and immersive power fantasy -- and every one of these facets is more electrifying than in any other DOOM game. id has not only stepped up their game, they've dropped the gauntlet for other first-person shooters to follow their example.

Id cooked hard with this one. Huge step up from Dark Ages base game, so many new combat options that it feels like a whole new game. Level design is also great. Story also feels much more in line with the other Doom games, base game for me felt like a filler story.
Eternal still is my goat but Revelations was really really good. Ost still ****.

Incredibly fleshed out content, amazing additions to the sandbox, and awesome new soundtrack. I genuinely believe this is the greatest expansion Id has made to date. Hopefully they can continue this quality of output despite the layoffs.

You are a studio that creates masterpieces in the singleplayer FPS genre. You've created a DLC with a breathtaking art direction, incredible levels and fantastic, engaging gameplay that blends the best elements of the last two games. All that plus awesome story with stellar soundtrack and tons of content. What do you get as a reward? Ask microsoft...

TLDR: There is so much new to master, everything about the expansion is awesome and they totally delivered. Must-Play as a modern doom fan! (Great deal at the $20 price tag too!) ID software delivered and masterfully combined the best elements of Eternal with TDA's combat flow. A first playthrough on nightmare isnt enough to fully delve into how deep the combat feels with a new skill ceiling to master swapping between the spear and the shield saw. They absolutely deserve a 10/10 for this 20 dollar expansion, building on an already great base with fantastic level design that compliments the new verticality of the spear. Not awful puzzles either!

and the game NEEDED to look like THIS.
yeah, at this moment dlc has some problems, like control issues, especially on differences between shild and spear, but its really small things now.
DOOM IS BACK *id Software, please know that we, the fans, stand with you in this difficult time and wish you only the very best for the future.

An overly hyped DLC. It offers just a few hours of gameplay that’s almost identical to the main game. The new spear weapon, rather than adding variety, has made combat even more complicated and hard to follow. The enemies are exactly the same, the environments are boring, and there’s nothing to explore. The difficulty is very unbalanced, and in some places, it drags on too long. Take the Marok fight, for example. I’ve never seen a boss fight in any game where the boss keeps coming back with full health after being defeated three or four times like Marok does. The level is literally rigged. You defeat Marok, and every time you do, he comes back with different attack patterns and spells. At some point, even though the DLC was short, I got bored and lowered the difficulty so I could finish it.

The Dark Ages – Revelations absolutely delivers. Eternal's movement + The Dark Ages' combat is perfection the Cosmic Realm is incredible, and the AI creates some of the best FPS combat I've played. Loved the music homages. id Software cooked. 9.9666/10. Rip and Tear! Surprised i haven't heard anyone comment how freakin visceral and solid the OG DOOM levels are in Revelations. the 93 shotgun just SLAPs and the sounds are so damn crisp. I would easily pay any dollar amount for DOOM to be ported into this engine as it is represented here. Love! On my 2nd playthrough of DOOM the Dark Ages Revelations and man the level of detail and art in these levels are just jaw dropping. I've spent so much time just admiring all the work and taking it **** software you cooked so hard!

As a Doom player since 1993, I want to sincerely congratulate the entire team for creating what I believe is the greatest Doom game ever made: DOOM: The Dark Ages and its Revelations expansion. You have combined cutting-edge technology with stunning visuals and some of the best gameplay of this generation. Every aspect of the game reflects an incredible level of talent, passion, and attention to detail. Congratulations—you truly are among the very best in the industry. If there’s one thing that deserves recognition, it’s the extraordinary work your team continues to deliver. I also believe that id Tech 8 is an exceptional engine and should power many more Microsoft titles. Sharing this technology across Microsoft’s studios could elevate the quality of future games, create valuable synergies between teams, and help deliver the kind of outstanding results that players—and the company—are looking for. Thank you for continuing to push the industry forward. I can’t wait to see what you create next.

The main game was slower than Eternal, but the DLC is right in the middle. There's way more variety now too, even though there aren't many levels, each one has something unique to offer. The soundtrack is also a huge improvement over the main game. Overall, they did a great job bridging the gap between The Dark Ages and Doom 2016.

This DLC is way better than it has any right to be. They took out the shield and gave you a spear that makes the combat way faster and more chaotic. The story actually makes you feel something for the guy under the helmet, and the bosses are brutally hard but never unfair. PC performance is a bit rough, and Microsoft firing a bunch of the devs ****, but the content itself is top-notch. If you bought the base game, just get this. It's id Software going out swinging.

Probably the best DLC ever made. It improves on the base game in nearly every way, adding an incredible amount of high-quality content while offering a campaign that's almost as long as the original game itself with flawless combat, although hard to master (which is great).

DOOM: The Dark Ages - Revelations is an outstanding DLC that takes everything great about the base game and makes it even better. This is peak DOOM — masterful level design, relentless combat, and some of the most satisfying gameplay in the entire series. The new weapons, enemies, and arenas are pure adrenaline, and the pacing never lets **** graphics are breathtaking, with insane detail and atmosphere that pushes the engine to its limits. Revelations feels like essential DOOM content and cements The Dark Ages as the best FPS experience available right now. Best expansion in the series — 10/10 all the way.

DOOM: The Dark Ages - Revelations isn't just a DLC — it completely redefines what an expansion can be. By swapping the Shield Saw for the Chain Spear, id Software proved their mastery once again, blending the weight of The Dark Ages, the aerial chaos of Eternal, Metroidvania exploration. Despite some control quirks, PC optimization issues, and the tragic layoffs from Microsoft, the game's quality still shines. It's an absolute must-own and a proud, magnificent swan song from id Software's golden era.

Doom The Dark Ages Revelation is a relentless expansion that takes the Slayer’s legend even further. With brutal new weapons, fearsome enemies, and epic battles set in dark medieval landscapes, Revelation delivers even more intense combat, thanks in part to the return of the dash. Combined with flawless technical execution (as always from ID Software), meticulously crafted art direction, a thunderous soundtrack, and refined gameplay, this DLC is a must-have for all DOOM fans.

The Revelations DLC has brought huge and wonderful improvements to both the story and gameplay. While the game's pace isn't quite as fast-paced as Eternal, it's still satisfying, the chain spear is fantastic, and the maps, enemies, story, and lore are all well-presented. In short, this DLC has made the Dark Ages even better and more fun
