I’m still not sure if I should attribute the DLC’s quality to Microsoft’s leadership or the work of a passionate development team; perhaps it is a mixture of both, but Reign of the Warlock is a truly outstanding update for Diablo II. It’s easy to see that the warlock was crafted by people who have a fundamental understanding of the game’s tone and mechanics, allowing for a fun and creative experience that manages to breathe new life into a classic. If Blizzard manages to uphold this standard of quality in the future, then I wish the best of luck to all other ARPG developers.

Reign of the Warlock officially makes it acceptable to lose sleep over a 25-year-old game again. The new Warlock class lets you embrace the dark side, binding demons and throwing telekinetic weapons with wild abandon. It is chaotic, deeply satisfying, and incredibly powerful. Even better, the update finally addresses basic ergonomics by adding loot filters and item stacking. The inventory will be much easier to manage. The Warlock might be due for a balance adjustment, but until then, go summon some hellspawn and dominate the game.

This expansion introduces a new player class, the Conjurer, along with larger maps, more complex dungeons, and a difficulty curve that scales more aggressively as you progress. The Warlock and quality-of-life improvements provide enough reason to dive back into Diablo II. But the price is a bit steep. If you're getting into it from scratch on Steam, the full pack is a great deal, but if you're only buying it for the expansion… decide based on your love for Diablo.

If you want to spend hours playing this game and collecting items and gold just remember that randomly you can loose your gold and items. I lost 400k gold that just disappeared and a perfect skull. Disappeared right from my shared stash. If you want to play a game where you can just loose your hard earned items randomly then this is a game for you!
