Days Gone Remastered

In the era of debate of what is a remaster and what is a remake, Days Gone Remastered does exactly what the title says. New modes such as the horde assault add variety and difficulty and the great accessibility additions contribute to an already strong package. The visuals and audio were already brilliant but the improvements to these departments help solidify their greatness. The story remains exactly as before, warts and all and still is divisive to this day, but to me, it’s a great adventure that tries to tell an intimate story in a vast and daunting world. Hopefully one day, Sony will greenlight a sequel, but for now and to me, this remains Sony’s most underrated game. See you on the open road!

Days Gone has been a great open world action game on PS4, but has been right on the edge on the former PlayStation. On PS5 it's mainly the same game, but with much better graphics, slightly better controls and substantially better performance in each of the render modes with some advantages on PS5 Pro. Content wise there are no big reason for getting the game a second time with just the new Horde mode as a nice contribution.

Days Gone Remastered brings welcome technical improvements and three distinct modes that enhance replayability for returning players. While it won’t change anyone’s opinion of the game’s overall quality, it offers just enough to justify its existence.

If you already own the original and can take advantage of the "cheaper" upgrade path then it's not exactly a big risk if you are looking for a reason to return to Oregon and to replay Deacon's adventure. However, if you're going to snag this at full price, you'd be just as well to look to the original instead, as the best part of Days Gone is still very much the storyline.

Days Gone is revving up again with a remaster that, while unnecessary and hard to justify, has reminded us why we loved the original game so much. If you weren't familiar with it and own a PS5, this is the perfect opportunity to discover this world of bikes and freaks.

All in all, I am excited to revisit and finally finish Deacon’s story and with the inclusion of the Broken Road DLC as well as the new Horde mode there is a lot of extra and brand-new content for players to explore. I just really don’t understand the wisdom of doing this remaster, while I am sure the fans appreciate it very much; I didn’t think Sony was moving forward with the franchise. So, to invest money in this remaster just seems like giving some false hope to fans that are interested in seeing more from Deacon and gang but who am I, just a black guy reviewing games. I am sure Sony knows what they are doing……right?

Days Gone Remastered is an impressive graphical upgrade to a game that survivalists will relish but lovers of mission variety might find something of a repetitive, meandering drag. If familiarity is your bag then the main game is an underrated and worthwhile 50 hours or so to get good and lost in, its percentage-based mission structure drawing the player naturally through the game and its upgrade systems allowing for swift specialisation and satisfying progress. For repeat players, the Horde Assault mode is the sole significant addition, and only then for those craving more of the visceral thrill of the main game’s massed battles. More strategic horde-destroyers may well find it frustratingly rigid and brutish.

Days Gone has some creative ideas — for example using a Harley‑Davidson‑style motorcycle instead of a horse or a car. In terms of audio and visuals, there isn’t much to criticize; they’re generally solid, even though the overall design could have been better. But the story feels very lifeless. The characters are cold and hard to connect with, and the character development is extremely weak. Even the main character lacks any real charisma. The missions become repetitive very quickly, almost like being stuck in a loop. Even when you travel across large parts of the map, you rarely encounter anything new or refreshing. The narrative never reaches a point where it truly excites you, and it becomes tiring — which eventually made me drop the game halfway through. Compared to games like TLOU, GoW, or Ghost of Tsushima, it falls far behind. Overall, I think Days Gone can be a fun game to pass the time, but not an exceptional artistic experience. Loved the game on PS4, so decided to get the remastered. It holds together mostly for what it already was, but for a remaster, it has too many bugs. The extra content is nice of course, and it makes the 10€ payed worth it, but it doesn't seem admissable that this game, which shouldbe an improvement, is released like it was (not a lot of image enhancements and with visible bugs).

Got Days Gone and only played it for the first time now. I was expecting more to be honest… better interface, melee weapons like axes get broken? Need repair after a few hits?? Doesn’t work these ****’s a survival games yea, but not good at all…. Motorbikes only last a couple of miles since they have small deposits? I mean they could have made it like a reward but a proper bike. Not this garbage. Ammo capacity cannot be upgraded? Can’t pick up arrows? Very weak ****’t build shelters.Doesn’t have a progression feeling at **** drink or food **** can’t really call it a survival game.

Despite this being a game i very much enjoy, I'm not going to be one of these people giving this "remaster" a 10 out of 10 in some vain attempt to somehow convince someone at Sony to pay for a sequel. Sadly, calling this a remaster is a HUGE stretch. Other than some slightly inproved foliage and a very pretty night sky, very little has been done to the game that wasn't already done with the PS4 Pro update several years ago. No work has been done on the awful NPC faces and the.fact that they are copy and paste the same character model, the NPC textures are still terrible, the audio bugs with dialogue are STILL present and there are still SIGNIFICANT loading screens throughout the game. Not only has no work been done on any of the previously existing bugs and glitches, new ones have also been introduced. Audio is all over the place with NPC dialogue being almost inaudible and whole chunks of mission character dialogue completely missing,I've had game breaking glitches that have required shutting the game down, numerous issues with lighting and the flashlight simply not working and freakers flying off into the sky at random. Unfortunately Bend have yet again, releasedt his game in a unfinished state.
