Ashes of Ariandel is the first DLC added to DS3, and despite it's pretty great level design and visuals, it's somewhat lacking in content. It has one of the best boss fights in the Souls series, but other than that it's OK. As a whole package with DS3, it's great, but as a single package, it could have a bit more. I'd still recommend it.

On its own it doesn't really hold up, but combined with the next dlc and the whole game, it's honestly better than people think

Apart from sister freide its very dissapointing. the area isnt very interesting and the other boss is bad.

Sister Friede is the Boss even Malenia is affraid of. Also Slave Knight Gale is one of the coolest bosses in DS3 and has an interesting lore. It also perfectly rounds up Darks Souls Ariandel

Regular incluso para un DLC. Al ser un DLC es claro que los aspectos generales son los mismos que en el juego base. Por lo demás: En esta expansión, los enemigos son demasiado dispares: Por un lado, decenas de enemigos prácticamente inofensivos puestos en forma de spam únicamente para estorbar, y por la otra, enemigos exageradamente complicados con movesets extremos que los asemejan más a minibosses que a enemigos regulares y, además ambos metidos en la misma área a escasos pasos unos del otro. En general bastante incomodo. El diseño del mundo me pareció pésimo. Se percibe demasiado reciclado y poco interesante, no anima demasiado a explorar para ver qué podemos encontrarnos en él. Por alguna razón, me recuerda más a Dark Souls 2 que al 3. La trama principal es además es muy corta. Eso sí, la hermana Friede es un jefe excelente en todas sus fases, y aquel Boss Lobo es bueno también. En general es disfrutable solo por sus jefes y poco más.

One of the best Games known to mankind. From Software is a safe heaven for the Gaming community. Especially in times where big Developers dissapiont us with theyr fraudulent intent. Praise the sun!

The area is cool, and big enough for some hours. The boss fights are good, particularly the final one which is very cool, kinda reminded me of Old Hunters DLC.

More fun souls features, but admittedly a little too short. Regardless, it has great value.

Kind of a cool world, but kind of not. The story of the area is interesting but nothing amazing. None of the characters really stand out as special to me. The final boss is a really cool but extremely frustrating encounter. The other boss is pretty lame, though the area you fight in is beautiful. The new weapons and stuff are pretty cool. Overall really meh for a Souls game.

I quiet enjoyed this DLC even it wasn't that interesting like the rest of DS3. But the bosses were totally disappointing. A wolf with a random dude. And a girl with a scythe (so again a snow world in dark souls with a scythe-girl... i really don't understand the hype about this boss) to be honest father Ariandel was kinda cool but that's it.

I do not want to write a great review for this DLC. Just want to say that the location itself is pretty interesting. For the winter did many times in past games of the series. There are two bosses here, one boring and easy. The second interesting and very difficult. Personally, I liked this DLC less than Ringed City, but still I advise this DLC to those who liked the original game and want more.

This is a decent DLC. It lacks quantity, cuz it's like one big area, but it doesn't lack substance. Dee L See weapons are **** cool, but one bossfight of the two is worth it really.

The Multiplayer arena is a nice addition and the last Boss is really awesome. The DLC is good, but way way too short, thus just a seven. Just buy the Goty Edition of DS3 and play all stuff in one go. The second DLC is way better.

Played this back to back with The Ringed City and to be honest, I liked this one more. The crows are excellent enemies and so are the Viking looking dudes. The optional boss was decent but too abuse-able due to the pillars. Sister Friede is one of the best boss fight I've had in the series. However, it is way too short...I can understand the underwhelming reception it got. And apparently no one plays Undead Match?? I tried to queue and can never find a game. So that's like half of the DLC content is dead.

After the first playthrough I did feel that it was not up to par as to what we have come to aspect from a DLC of a Souls game. Going back into it and being a bit more meticulous in my exploration I did find answers towards very important questions about the main villain of DS3 and that his world I had seen before ( No spoilers further). Nothing that comes out of FROMSoftware is anything but meticulously planned and this DLC is no exception. The lore and the story are hidden in the secret you must search and explore to find. The gameplay is difficult, even for a 80 LVL character that the dev team suggested. A lot of mob enemies ready to ambush and kill you. At the same time, this frozen land has a charm of it's own sometimes deadly if you stand to close and too still next to a tree. The bosses, even if there are merely two have some interesting mechanics and make for some exiting fights (Even if one of them, with its 3 phases, does make one feel about to quit) But again, no further spoilers here. All in all, Ashes of Ariandel is a subtle addition, not only to the story of Dark Souls III, but to the lore of the Souls series, in a very interesting way.

Ashes of Ariandel is a short but sweet expansion of Dark Souls 3. It delivers a fantastic final boss and has a wonderful world to explore, but it is so short in duration and content that it makes questioning the talent of Fromsoft all the more important. I can say in confidence that out of all the Souls' DLCs, this is by far the weakest. This does not mean it is bad, but it is a hard bargain to recommend if you are not a Souls fan or think $15 bucks is okay for this (which I will admit it is not).

Oh dear... Lets hope from redeem themselves with their second DLC offering. Gone is the slow and steady methodical approach, learn the enemy placements and attack patterns to progress, replaced instead by cheap and cheesy mob swamping, 6 enemies on screen at any given time, 3 enemies off screen that have an AOE attack that blankets your entire screen. This is not difficult. It does not add to the challenge, its just cheap. If this is what we can expect from the series going forward, then its time to lay it to rest.

Ouch, this one hurt a little bit. I am totally willing to give FS the benefit of the doubt, but I am not sure what they were thinking when they released this. It just doesn't fit the quality standards Dark Souls fans are so familiar with. I did everything pretty fast, and I was even being super thorough. I never thought I would live to see the day I would give something from Dark Souls anything less than an 8, but again I am willing to give FS the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they are stretched thin right now. We do know (at least I am pretty sure we do) that they are working on a new IP, so I could see them being tight with resources right now. I can't say that Ashes ISN'T worth your time because it is. I just don't know if it is worth it's current price point.

Where are those negative reviews coming from? 7.3 user rating?! This DLC is simply breathtaking. I can't believe there are people that rate it less than 10. Excellent worthy addition to the phenomenal game. I certainly admit I would love it to have more bosses, but still Ashes of Ariandel is great. If you love dark souls, get this DLC. I didn't have this much fun for a long time. Bravo, Hidetaka Miyazaki!

Fun bosses, but there are only two of them!! The new weapons are balanced and fun. Added much variety to the pvp. Arena also improved the pvp experience a lot, but then that's it.

Very good expansion! Awesome new area, very beautiful. Interesting weapons and enemies, Millwood and Corvian Knights are the best. Two wonderful boss, the final is very hard, harder than the Nameless King. For the full walkthrough you need 5 - 6 hours. Enjoy it, and good luck! Praise the Sun!

Sadly, this DLC is a big disappointment. It's a small story expansion, with only 2 boss fights included, along with some new weapons added. Nice environment, some great new enemies, but it still is rather short. The new multiplayer PvP mode "Undead Matches" is simply a joke. Lag is all you will get in this small arena. You can choose from 3 modes and between 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2 or 3 vs 3, but they all follow the same rule, just kill the opponent(s). There is no score board, you only see how many kills you got and have to wait until the match ends, and only then will you learn if you won or lost. But even then, you gain nothing, unlike duels in the main game where you are awarded with souls and/or Covenant items. Ashes of Ariandel costs $15/€15, and there is a 2nd DLC coming in the next few months. For what it offers, it is overpriced. Avoid this, or if you can't have enough of Dark Souls 3, wait for either a discounted DS3+DLC bundle, or a sale of the Season Pass. Don't waste your money.

(This review is spoiler free) Dark Souls 3 Ashes of Ariandel is a bitter-sweet expansion to one of the most critically acclaimed games of this year. FromSoftware has beautifully rendered the snowy & desolate world of the Painted World of Ariandel, incorporating a diverse array of stunningly gorgeous new areas & challenging new enemy encounters that will test your skill as a player. However, despite the DLC's strong level design & exceptionally intriguing lore, AofA's failing is blatantly obvious in how short the expansion pack really is-taking around 5-8 hours to completely exhaust all it has to offer, depending on player skill. Such a shortcoming is almost tragic considering how more time in the Painted World would have been more than welcome, in light of how much care & love the development team put into creating the environments of the DLC, only for each to be blown through in about 15-20 minutes. But besides that, for anyone who enjoys Dark Souls, this DLC will provide exactly what you need: more Dark Souls. Of course this DLC comes complete with two new boss fights (which seems not a lot at first, but is more thancompensated by the 2nd fight) the first of which is somewhat lacking, but a good fight regardless, and the second being a true test of endurance and one of the best boss fights the company has produced in the entirety of the series. In summary, whilst Ashes of Ariandel may not provide the level of content & value for money when compared to FromSoftware's other more revered expansion titles (Artorias of the Abyss and The Old Hunters) it does offer more of the addicting Dark Souls formula-albeit short-lived-with this and the experience of the second boss well worth the price of admission.

I seem to be a minority, but I really liked this DLC. True, compared to Artorias, it's a bit on the shorter side, but it's just the first half of 2 DLC's and what is here is high quality content. I like the overall theme and atmosphere reminding me of Painted world of Ariamis, one of my favourite locations of DS1. Level design is really good, true Souls style of exploration, opening shortcuts and eventual connectivity of the entire place together. New weapons and armor sets are pretty cool. Many of them with very unique features and movesets, such as Valorheart for ancient Greece style warriors, Crow Quills for dex assassins or my favourite - Onyx Blade, one of the most beautiful swords in the series. One of the 2 bosses (the main one) is absolutely amazing battle, ranking to one of my all-time favourites, while the other - (optional one) is kinda weak and forgettable. I'm a bit disappointed with very few new spells/pyros/miracles which are mostly not anything to write home about. Also, the way the DLC is presented and not really connected to the main game is not as smooth as you're used to. However, by far the best feature of this DLC that has been sorely missing in the main game is finally the inclusion of easy to access and very good PvP arena that I already spent tens of hours, still having fun with it. People who buy this strictly for PvE will probably be a bit disappointed with the short length, but otherwise I would say it's a must have for most Souls fans and people who enjoyed DS3. 8/10

Mediocre at best. This should be a free patch, not paid DLC. This add-on offers not much entertainment and though 1 of the bosses is somewhat difficult - its not worth your money. Basically this dlc have 1 boss (second is just fruitless I can't call him a DS boss) which is fking similar to Lady Maria from Bloodbourne DLC. Even couple of her attacks are the same. Altogether DLC doesn't add much to the table and that is the real problem there. Yeah the pvp arena is fun for an hour. But it comes nowhere near invasions. It doesn't have any random factor, no surroundings etc. (well it has pillars, but no corners, pits and that stuff) New weapons are just meh. Well now all we can do is wait for the next dlc in hope it will deliver at least something. Last words: It took me 2.10 to complete the DLC though I wasted 1.10 on the last boss. NO TROPHIES FFS

It hurts me to give any Souls title less than a 9 or 10, but for hardcore fans this just won't be enough. I took my time, did everything, and it still only took a couple hours. And while one of the boss fights is pretty great, the other one is mediocre at best. Bottom line is when a dev gives you such stellar DLC as Artorias and Old Hunters, the expectations will always be high. Here's hoping the last installment will be up to par.

Short and boring with a crappy almost non-ending. Sorry I paid 15 bucks for this and wish I had waited for reviews. I mistakenly thought I could blindly trust From Software.

This dark souls 3 dlc offered some really unique locations but everything at first glance feels small. There are many different alternate routes you could have easily missed and it definitely feels a bit more open than the base game. There are some cool new enemies and weapons but nothing can really top your current equipment if you have already finished the game. The bosses are good. Do not watch the trailers or any gameplays of it or it will kinda spoil the experience. There is one that really stands out than the other but both fights were entertaining. OST wise it's awesome, just what you expect from any DS OST! PVP feature is a cool side feature.... As a DS fan from playing all the games, it's definitely disappointing if you compare it to the other dlcs. The scale of this dlc just feels "small" and compare to the other dlcs, it can't get the theme of it right. Even the crowns dlc from ds2 got the theme and scale right. I took it more as something from the base game than a actual expansion. Now triple A games now a days are just not doing too great with expansions except for like Witcher 3. I feel like it definitely meets what we call DLC in these years. I didn't expect too much from reading the reviews of other people but I think this DLC is good. As a souls fan I would give this more like a 7/10 But if you just turn your brain off and let it be just a dlc then its more like 7.5 I hope expansion 2 will deliver the single player experience we truly wanted.
