Fallout 764

Fallout is hands down my most cherished video game universe by far. I'm old enough to have played the first when it originally released so I have been a fan a long time. I even loved it when Bethesda took over with 3. That said I had absolutely no desire to play 76. I'm not a multiplayer or co-op kind of guy. It's just not what I am into. However, for the lore I did play it when it released on day one and Immediatelyput it back down not to touch it again. That was until I started hearing everyone sayin "It's so much better now!" So I started playing again. Admittedly it was a much better experience than my first foray. I even found my groove a bit. I got to level 72 before I finally had enough. All the jank is still there. Events constantly bugged as well as many of the raids. They didn't make it "So much better now!" by fixing this jank, they just added 300432 more fetch quests. I did one for this robot named Rose where Ihad to find like 5 key fragments. Took maybe an hour and a half to 2 hours and I think the best thing I got was a combat rifle. Seriously Fallout fans!? This is what you call "so much better now!"???? Raise your expectations guys, seriously! If you have been around as long as I have you deserve MUCH better than this. "So much better now!" My god **** god.......

Dune: Awakening4
Jul 5, 2025
Made it as far as the patch of sand near the Vermillius Gap before the sand worm got me and lost everything. Started back from scratch since they make you abandon your first base before progressing so I had to collect all the crafting materials over again. Built myself up from nothing got on the sandbike for try number 2, planned a much more seemingly safer route to the gap, sand worm got me again. I don't care if the game is actually bad or i just **** at it, I am DEFINITELY not going through all of that again. I have a full time job and a family, and frankly I didn't think try number one was all that fun. Ranged combat was decent, melee combat feels worse than conan to me but i know a lot of people disagree with me on the latter. I'm just as surprised as anyone that a life time dune fan would rather play a conan game than a dune game. lol Glad a lot of people are enjoying the game but this game will rot in my library until they shut servers down.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 3310

Man, what a game. Great combat (one gripe is that it is QTE heavy, but it really doesn't detract anything from the fun of combat). If you aren't a fan of turn based combat this game won't turn you into one but if you are a fan you absolutely should give it a go. I won't say it's Baldur's Gate 3 level of a masterpiece but this game is a masterpiece in it's own right. Story is amazing, you may shed a tear or 2. Sound and music design is phenomenal. The art style is insanely good but I am a **** for the gothic/steam punk art design. This game has no business being as good as it is. I never even heard of the studio until now. I had no idea what to expect from them what-so-ever but this is one of those few titles that is always on my mind even when I am not playing. If you can only buy one game this year, let it be this one. Truly amazing.

Sniper Elite: Resistance7
Feb 4, 2025
Resistance isn't a bad Sniper Elite game but where Sniper Elite 5 was a huge leap forward from 4 (just my opinion, I loved 5) Resistance is like a tip toed step forward. They did add a few new weapons while keeping many of the weapons I used in 5. Even the upgrades were the same. I do like the new explosive ammo type for the rifles, though I didn't find many opportunities to use them strategically, they were more **** off type of addition. Enemies are pretty much the same in 5, just some of them wear brimmed hats now for some reason. My biggest gripe is that none of the maps were very memorable, and for me they all kind of blended together. None rose to the heights of Spy Academy or Secret Weapons. Kill challenges are back though one was bugged for me so I never got the weapon from that challenge which was a bummer. There are these new propaganda mission that were very short and super easy but they do unlock upgrades for weapons and a rifle that was in SE5. I did not pay for this game but if I spent 50 bucks I think I would be a little ticked so I can absolutely understand some of the negative reviews. So I would wait until price drops to 20 bucks or play it on game pass for pc. For some reason the word goof was censored above where i talked about the explosive ammo does g.o.o.f. mean something else?

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl7
Nov 22, 2024
Hats off to the Devs for getting this thing out despite everything they have been going through. Not only were they able to get the game out the door, but what is here is something special, but it has a long way to go before I would consider it finished. First the great. The world is massive and very, very fun to explore. You never quite know what you are going to run into as you are chased by all sorts of creatures wanting to do you harm. Sound design though littered with minor bugs can really add to the immersion and when it was working well made the experience all the more terrifying. The good. The story is engaging enough , but I get the feeling that it was intended to be a bit deeper with surprising zig zags, but it comes across as standard at best. Go here kill this, grab that, etc etc but any game could be simplified like this, but Stalker 2's open world completely over shadows what maybe should have been a more engaging story. The Bad. The bugs are many and very frequent. Most of which can only be fixed for a while by completely restarting the game. I had to do this many times and believe me when I say my PC is FAR more than capable to run this game. The most frustrating are the little things. Gun's not making sounds when firing. Enemies saying things that make absolutely no sense given a certain situation, not to mention footsteps completely going away. I have absolutely no doubt that when this game is at least 70% fixed it will be one of those games that we see YouTubers and games media alike talking about this game for years, and maybe centuries to come but right now it really has to get all the junk under control. I would suggest waiting a while before purchasing. I wish I did because first impressions are everything and this game didn't make a good one.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard5
Nov 10, 2024
The first thought that came to mind after playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard was "this is a lot like going shopping for purses with my wife." I do it because I love my wife and I do like to spend time with her but being in a store with nothing for me isn't exactly what I would call a good time. I like the characters in this game, some are great even but a few are so-so. I am glad that some of our fellow minority gamers are better represented in this game, I am not bothered by any of that stuff at all, but all of that doesn't make the game fun for me to play. It's a lot of shopping for purses with my wife. if you get my meaning. I will say though there is a lot of eye candy. Effects are great. Lighting and sound is fantastic and the soundtrack isn't at all bad but none of that really makes combat a good time. It's far too over simplified and because of that it can be a bit mind numbing. Maybe all of the Dragon Age games were like that and I am just getting older and losing interest in these types of games, who can say for sure. If you have been with DA from the start you may want to wait until a sale but if you are new to the series and want to try it out you may find a lot more to enjoy than I did. Please keep in mind my score is 5 not because I think it is a god awful experience, it's just not an experience that I found entertaining.

Enjoying my time with it for the most part, but having some issues on the Game Pass PC version. I'm running a RTX 2060 super (not the best I know), an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6 core, and 32 gigs of ram and even on low graphic settings my fans are constantly running, so be prepared. That said, gameplay is great and I am really liking how combat feels, and the ship customization. Mission structure is pretty basic but passable. I'm glad it is on game pass for sure, but anyone with even lower specs than mine might want to steer clear for a bit until maybe 1 or 2 updates.

God of War10
Feb 3, 2022
**** war. Real quick let me just say this game is an absolute masterpiece in my humble opinion. My PS4 went kaput right before this game came out initially, but instead of buying another one I built my first pc and to this day have only had a pc. God of War had always been the one that got away. When I heard it was coming to pc I was beyond excited, and a little surprised when I realized it was never actually spoiled for me. Anyway, combat is great. It's fluid and feels very raw and can vary pretty wildly depending on what kind of move sets you have for your axe. I swear I could sit for hours just throwing my axe and pressing Y to have it fly back to kratos' hand. It's like popping bubble wrap, or peeling off that plastic lining when you buy a new phone. The story is really good as well, I won't spoil it, I will just say I was fully engaged. Sound is perfect, from the sound the axe makes when it is thrown into enemy flesh to the ambient sounds of the world around you. Speaking of the world around you, I used to think RDR2 was the pinnacle of beauty when it came to world design and I suppose it still is when it comes to being in our own reality but I have never seen more beautiful settings than I have in God of War. That photo mode was getting a work out while I was playing. I admit, chances are most people have already played this so what I am saying probably isn't new to anyone, but if you are like me and had to wait or even if you are someone who didn't like the original series (I didn't, sorry hardcore fans I was never into hack and slash games when i was younger) but you wan't a great story and solid gameplay then you gotta try it. Just try it for your own sake.

Far Cry 65
Oct 13, 2021
I am legit baffled as to how this game got such high reviews from most major gaming sites. Though far cry 6 isn't complete **** it is a complete **** far cry game. I don't know what Ubisoft was thinking. I can't speak for all of the fans but I am willing to bet a year salary that when asked no far cry fan is going to say their favorite part of Far cry is looking through menus for hours making sure they have all the right ammo types and attachments on weapons, or strategically planning how they are going to take down an outpost. What I always loved about these game is the chaos aspect and how enemies would die if you shot them in the head. The fact that it took me six shots from a sniper rifle (3 in the head mind you) to take down a single soldier is the most ridiculously annoying thing ever. Am I missing something here? I mean wtf is this!? Seriously! The only thing I can think of is this game wasn't made for me and that's totally cool I can respect that but I have played the far cry since the original so I guess I had some expectations on what this game would be. I mean I wasn't super into New Dawn at all but I would take that over this any day.

SnowRunner7
Jun 30, 2021
Let me start by saying I really really like this game, and I think this game could have been a 9 out of 10 game easy had they not included some insanely frustrating UI designs. Some may disagree with me here but I do think that Snowrunner is a huge step up from mudrunner. Snowrunner is an off road super sim. Very slow-paced but super methodical and even tactical in it's own way. There are a lot of trucks to choose from, but you must first unlock them through xp or finding vehicles on the map. Of coarse the trucks you start with are pretty terrible making the start of the game quite a slog and I'm sure it will turn many players away, but if you do stick with it it becomes exponentially better. My biggest complaint is what I stated above, the UI. Mudrunner was similar but seeing as how snowrunner adds so much more to the table it also makes the UI an infuriating mess. I mean holy crap I have never seen such a confusing mess of a UI. It does the job (kind of?) but man it's bad. If you decide to try it you will see what I mean. It is so needlessly complicated I have a hard time believing the devs couldn't possibly find a better way to convey commands. I guess they thought that it added to the heavy sim gameplay but Jesus it's terrible. That being said it shouldn't stop you from playing if you are a fan of these types of sims. It's quite addicting, and that feeling of finally being able to afford and upgrade the truck you've had your eye on is great. Try it out, really.

Days Gone9
May 22, 2021
I was super happy to hear Days Gone was coming to PC because I never got a chance to play it on the PS4 thanks to it crapping out on me. After finally rolling credits I gotta say I love this game, and I am a little surprised at the relatively low score the ps4 version got. I don't know if there were technical issues or not but it runs like butter on my pc. Graphics: I love the graphical settings in the start menu. More games need to do this. There are sliders for pretty much everything including fov, and they all change in real time. It's great, I love it. At max setting everything looks crisp and clean. Although not the pinnacle of graphic design, it does enough to keep you immersed in the world. Sound: it's fine. UI: Like I stated in the graphics tab the UI is generally easy to use. My only problem was the finicky weapon wheel. Crafting from the weapon wheel can be annoying thanks to the sub menu per item. If you are using a controller it can be difficult to keep the joystick on the object you are trying to craft. Not a big deal just a tad frustrating sometimes. Combat: Quite smooth really. At first I thought the gunplay was kinda crap but that was only because I didn't put many skill points in but once i did it got a little more enjoyable, especially with the focus shot (pretty much bullet time). The World: Very beautiful. The rolling hills and lush forests of Oregon comes across as a beautiful backdrop for a Zombie outbreak. I know I know, they are freakers, but come on.... Characters: Though not on the same level as say Mass Effect, Days Gone still boasts a cast of interesting individuals as well as a protagonist that checks all the right boxes but might come across as a little disingenuous sometimes, and angry all the time (but that was kind of the point i think) Gameplay: Where the game shines imo. Upgrading your bike and earning credits from each camp has a nice loop to it. I found myself constantly getting sidetracked to be able to afford better weapons and parts for my bike as well as leveling up Deacon St. John (the protagonist) as often as I could. All in all a great game to get lost in, especially if your like me. Don't get me wrong, Mass Effect is probably my favorite series ever but I picked this game over The ME Remasters because I haven't already played Days Gone 6,467 times yet. :-)

Madden NFL 210
Mar 20, 2021
Madden 21 is quite frankly the punchline of a bad joke. EA should be ashamed of this nonsense. I get that they get most of their billions from the idiots that purchase thousands of dollars worth of micro-ts, and that's totally fine with me honestly. I wont shame a company that is genius at finding ways to take money from idiots, I would do it too but for those of us that have been playing madden since the start deserve more than recycled assets. If it wasn't for the starting menu and HUD I would have thought I was still playing madden 20. People that give this game a good score sincerely make me sick because they don't realize that they are totally enabling this **** Seriously stop going out of your way to make excuses for this **** You are making the industry that many of us love much much worse. I understand not wanting to get mad because that would mean admitting you are an idiot for buying a turd but we are all in the same boat. I freely admit I was an ABSOLUTE idiot for buying this turd.

Cyberpunk 20778
Jan 4, 2021
I built my first PC thanks to this game and I am super glad I did instead of buying Cyberpunk on the PS4. Besides a few glitches like floating weapons, weird audio bugs and 2 instances of clipping through the map I have had a relatively smooth experience. Even with my entry level graphics card (RTX 2060 super) Cyberpunk looks incredible. Night City is beautiful with all of the neon lights, tall **** and back allies shrouded in darkness. The city really feels alive. Granted the people walking the streets could have been fleshed out a bit more. I come across quite a few really quiet streets despite hundreds of people walking around but this could be attributed to a bug, I'm not sure. Gunplay is good not great. There are quite a few different types of weapons. Blades, blunts, smart weapons, power weapons and tech weapons. Smart weapons are my favorite (the bullets are basically guided missiles. Power weapons are your somewhat basic kinetic weapons, and tech weapons are.............well I'm not really sure how to explain them. I know you can build up powerful shots by holding down the trigger and does almost double the damage of a single shot. Mission structure is pretty good albeit nowhere near as varying as The Witcher 3 was but there is still a TON to do and discover. All in all if you are a fan of RPG's or Projekt Red I think you will find a lot to enjoy here. That said I can only tell you my PC experience, perhaps if you own a ps4 or xbox one I would wait until the game is fixed well enough to at least have an enjoyable experience. Like everyone else I am super disappointed in CDPR management when it comes to how they handled the release but I will say I think the floor level devs did a fantastic job creating a world I love being in.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla7
Nov 28, 2020
I love the old AC games but the thing is I love the new direction the series has gone as well and to be completely honest I dont really have a preference. That said I think Valhalla is a big step backwards. The story is pretty decent, they give assassinations a new little twist. The setting is gorgeous and I do like the gear system a bit better than Odyssey though I would have liked to see a few more weapons for each weapon type. I mean Odyssey was WWWAAAYYY to much whereas Valhalla is about 1/30th of the selection. I feel like they were a little too extreme the opposite way. I think the ability system is worse. Now you have to find books of knowledge to unlock new abilities instead of having them tied to progression like in Odyssey. Then there are the skill trees. Jesus Christ it makes no sense. There are 3 branches. Melee, Stealth, and.........Ranged? I cant remember for sure mostly because I can get as many melee level ups in the ranged tree as I can in the Melee skill tree. It's hard to explain, you'll see. I do however think it's totally worth a purchase. If you are on the fence because you didn't like Origins or Odyssey, I really think it feels closer to the old style than those mentioned above.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown8
Mar 20, 2020
Admittedly I only started playing this game when it hit Game Pass on xbox one (I can hear series veterans moaning now) I will be buying this game for myself because I had no idea how good this game was going to be. I always looked at Ace Combat games as bargain bin fodder. A quantity over quality type of series. Needless to say I was wrong, at least about this one. A bunch of planes to choose from bought by using in game currency (not real world) as well as different missiles, rockets, etc. Flying can take some getting used to but I had it on the more simy setting. There is a kind of "arcade" setting as well which makes flying a bit less technical. One piece of advice though, listen closely to the briefing before each mission because it gives you an idea of the type of plane to use such as attack, fighter, etc, as well as weapons to equip like air to air (for dog fights) or air to land missiles for land targets. That is one of my few dislikes. Some of the briefing lasts sooo long. You can skip those but again if you are playing for the first time you wont know exactly what you need for the mission at hand. Surprisingly I found the story kind of interesting. Not on the same level as a mass effect game or anything but enough to keep me wanting to know more. For a game like this the last thing I thought I would be interested in is the story. It reminds me a lot of final fantasy. I can hear you laughing, but seriously. Ace Combat has that "everything is familiar, but subtly futuristic" kind of feel to it. I wont spoil anything but if you have just a vague interest in jet plane warfare you should check this one out. I mean my view towards dog fighting games was indifferent but I am having a blast with this one.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order9
Nov 20, 2019
Finally!!! FINALLY!!!!!!! A fantastic Star Wars game! I'm so glad, I wanted so bad for this SINGLE PLAYER Star Wars game to good, just so EA can see what happens if they keep their F#$king greedy hands off their developer's games. Don't get me wrong Jedi Fallen Order is far from perfect. I ran into some technical issues, but nothing on the level of a Bethesda game, like there isn't anything game breaking. The combat is fast and fluid, the platforming isn't terrible but kind of unnecessary imo. The characters really feel like they belong in the Star Wars universe, and the little droid is hilarious, as well as the protagonist's banter with the droid. This game takes a lot from FromSoftware's souls games and doesn't pretty well. Don't worry though, if you aren't a souls or Sekiro difficulty fan this game is nowhere near as hard. By that I mean it really isn't. I'm not talking in the sense that I am a Souls fan and you aren't because it's too hard but I tell you (because I am a Souls fan) that it's not hard but then you try souls and you say "yup, it's still hard even though some souls fan told me it's not." Jedi is not like that at all. You can certainly make it as hard as a souls game through Grandmaster difficulty but you'll do fine on normal even if you play one game like once a year. If you have been waiting for a good Star Wars game this is it. Give it a shot. I have finished it but I am going through again because there is still a bunch I haven't seen.

The Outer Worlds9
Oct 27, 2019
I gotta say I did not expect to like this game as much as I did, but it is one of the very few titles I find myself thinking a lot about whenever I am not playing, and to be on xbox game pass I got to play it right away. If Outer Worlds was the only game on game pass it would still be well worth the ten bucks a month on it's own. The art style is awesome, the only complaint being that I wasn't crazy about the armor design, but all the guns look and feel really good. Some of the worlds feel kind of samey but there are those that stand out quite a bit. The sound design is fantastic, the weapons being the shining example imo. Graphics are just fine but the art style helps lift it up a bit. Of course being a somewhat spiritual successor to Fallout New Vegas you can expect a lot of dialogue and different dialogue options. You can pretty much build your character around anything. My only piece of advice would be to not go for a jack of all trades build, it can make the game kind of boring in parts. Depending on how much you do on the first world it can be a slow start but I promise you it ramps up pretty quick after. After finishing I can honestly say that so far this would be my personal game of the year. It does everything I want out of a RPG and a lot more. If you are a fan of good Fallout games then this one is a must buy. I went ahead and purchased a copy because I can tell that this is a game I will keep coming back to and don't want to take the chance of it leaving game pass and not owning it.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint4
Oct 4, 2019
Just a side note here. I do not like this game. So I may sound a little salty, but it's only because I just spent 60 bucks on this trash. I love Ubisoft and thought they have been doing a great job until now making great games without aggressive micro-ts. I haven't completely finished the campaign yet I admit, but considering what I have seen, roughly 8 hours in, this game is a gross step back from the mediocrity that was Wildlands. Wildlands at times was insanely repetitive and quite boring if you weren't playing with friends (let's face it the worst game in the world would be fun playing with friends) but at least Wildlands had something of a narrative, and a beautiful map as well as decent enough combat. Breakpoint's map is boring and an absolute horrible slog to travel around without a helicopter. The loot system feels like something that was tacked on at the last possible minute, and adds absolutely nothing fun to the experience. You just sold us this game a few months ago. It was called The Division 2, and that one was actually decent, a masterpiece compared to Anthem. The big baddies in this game are drones. Yes........drones. Because drones are so much more interesting than the human element in A.I. WTF is with Ubisoft's obsession with "time savers" micro-ts? Ubisoft: Try out this brand new shiny game for 60 bucks!!!! Gamer: I would love to but I don't know if I will have the time to play it! Ubisoft: You are in luck! Just pay us a little more and we will let you play our game less!!!!!!!!! Gamers: Gee Golly! Where do I sign?!?!? I gotta hand it to ya Ubisoft, this is genius. You were able to con 1000s of extremely stupid people out of their hard earned cash. I can't even be mad at that, just pure genius. To whoever may read my review, call me an idiot, tell me I have terrible taste, even insult my mother if you want. Just PLEASE PLEASE for the LOVE OF GOD stop buying this **** Please!!! Be a better man than I and make a FU@$ING stand against this crap. I am begging YOU!!!!

Tom Clancy's The Division 28
Jul 10, 2019
This time around I wanted to wait a few months before I wrote a review considering that most live service games are a dumpster fire until a few months of updates roll out. Having said that, to be honest The Division 2's day one launch wasn't anywhere near as bad as I was expecting considering the first game's day one problems as well as Destiny, Destiny 2, Anthem, Fallout 76, etc. So far my experience with The Division 2 has been smooth and fun. If you have played any of the first game I think you will be right at home when it comes to this installment. A few new things have been added like semi-auto rifles that aren't just designated marksman rifles. Armor now has manufacturers. Like in the first games signature gear. They work similar as well. The more pieces of gear that have the same manufacturer the more stats you unlock with that gear set. Except now its with all tiers of gear. Now even green gear has these same mechanics, Not just the signatures, There are a TON of quality of life changes. Load outs are easier to produce, apparel is easier to sort through, and mission structure, as well as matchmaking have been improved drastically. It's also much easier for private parties I really like the changes to the Dark Zone which I won't go into because I don't want to give too much away. Honestly if you are one of those people that even had fun playing the early days of the first game you will love TD2. The little grips I have are minor. Like, now you unlock weapon mods like front grips, sights, scopes, magazines, etc instead of looting them. The upside is that you don't have to have multiple mods to attach to more than one weapon. For example if you have the front grip perk unlocked you can put said front grip on every gun it is qualified to fit. So it is nice not having to sort through 400 mods in your inventory, and they also don''t take up space in the stash box. I just miss being able to fine tune ever weapon to my needs. With all of that said I think it important to mention that if the first game never got you interested or invested then this game won't win you over by any means imo.

Rage 2 is..........fine. I haven't come across anything that was done terribly wrong, but it only does one thing very well. I know people are kind of mixed on it but I thought the shooting felt great. So much so that it is really the only reason I kept playing. I liked all the different vehicles ok but I found myself liking the boots on the ground gameplay MUCH better. It was nice to have something get me around the map faster though. Like I said, it's fine. If you like first person shooters you cant go wrong. I might suggest waiting until a drop in the price, it was a little short for my liking.

I don't have to tell you what a mess this game was at it's initial release on PS4. I will admit I did really like it but it wore out it's welcome pretty quick. It could have been called "Tedious: The Game". Exploration was amazing though imo. I loved that feeling of being completely alone just trying to survive. Anyway, It took me a while to get around to playing the new and improved No Man's Sky and after playing I realize I should have gotten this version as soon as it released. I love it. All the new stuff like base building, third person perspective, land rovers, etc are a fantastic surprise. Don't like base building? No problem, you don't have to do any of that. Just be a nomad traveling system to system taking as you please. Man, if the game originally released in this state it would have blown people away. Which is why I decided to review this version. Though I still think Hello Games should be held accountable for the initial release this is a HUGE step in the right direction when it comes to winning back the good will of players everywhere. Nicely done Hello Games!

Anthem6
Feb 27, 2019
This review is probably the most heart breaking one I have written. First, Anthem is not a terrible game. It is definitely over stated but true, the foundation is there. It's just that right now it exists solely to give you the experience of flying around in an Iron Man suit. I will admit, even that gets a bit boring after a while. It does however feel great bursting in the with your suit and soaring over a beautiful landscape. I have read articles that hypothesize that during Anthem's development, part of the game was scrapped and re-worked. I don't know how true that is but it sure does feel like it. Anthem doesn't know whether it want's to give you a compelling narrative or immersive gameplay, and it ends up doing neither particularly well. Maybe if Bioware's name wasn't on it, Anthem would have done a lot better but I gotta be honest I expected WAY better than this from BioWare even after the Andromeda debacle. Though Anthem may be worth picking up in a year or two I cant really recommend it at this point. Right now it's just a reminder that the BioWare I knew and loved is far removed from it's legendary status. I hope I'm wrong.

Keep in mind that a lot of user reviews here are spammed. Read through the negative reviews and you will notice that the same written review was posted by multiple users. I had a lot of fun with Exodus. Granted I didn't love it as much as the previous games but it is still a Metro experience that is definitely worth your time. Exodus is super atmospheric, the graphics were improved quite a bit, and the narrative was engaging enough to make me want to see what happens next. Also the relationships that are forged throughout the game was awesome to see first hand. Each character has their own story to tell. I would loved to sit around on the train (your base of operations) and just listen to all the characters talk about themselves, situation, past, etc. I have heard a bit about some bugs and glitches but aside from 1 or 2 frame rate dips, nothing bad enough to hurt my impressions of the game. I'm on the basic xbox one s. I actually really enjoyed the open areas. I didn't love the Humanimals. They were more annoying to deal with than fun. There isn't really any central villain to speak of which I kind of feel like hurts the game's story a bit. Like I said though I am a huge fan of Metro, and although I liked previous titles more, Exodus still did a fantastic job at keeping me engaged.

Far Cry New Dawn5
Feb 17, 2019
I totally appreciate the willingness to try something a bit different, and the lower price point, but in this case I don't feel like it paid off. Damage numbers and loot rarity doesn't add anything meaningful to the FarCry experience I have come to know and love. Enemy A.I is still the same as in FC5. Enemies are extremely predictable and easy to manipulate making a lot of the game a bit boring. The villains are only mildly interesting compared to past titles. I don't know that there is much more to say. I mean if you played FarCry 5 you already know what to expect, though for me personally doesn't do anything in particular that makes me want to come back to it. It honestly just made me want to replay FarCry 5. If you do decide to pass on New Dawn let me assure you that you aren't missing anything super special.

Resident Evil 210
Jan 25, 2019
Some of my best memories involve me and my friends playing Resident Evil 2 over, and over, and over again. We scoured every inch the game had to offer, we loved it. Naturally when I heard the remake was coming I contacted friends from my childhood, some of which I hadn't seen in almost 10 years and we all got together and started the game at exactly midnight. It is safe to say that I am a little biased but that shouldn't take away from the fact that Resident Evil 2 Remake is a well crafted, quality game. Everything from visuals to sound design really shined, and the anxiety I got when zig-zagging through tight hallways trying to preserver what precious little ammo I had. The map was my best friend. Planning routes is essential to getting around RE2, and can REALLY help you when it comes to supplies you had to pass up thanks to a full inventory. As long as you look at something it will be marked on the map. That way you can always go back and grab ammo, herbs, keys, etc. Like the original, you will also find a lot of "files" that tell their own story, and it was a joy to read them. Granted, so far I have only played the first scenario with Leon, and I am more than halfway through with Claire's first scenario, but I think it's more than safe to say that this will be considered one of the greatest survival horror games to release, and very well might put survival horror back on the top, where they were in the 90's. If you like survival horror, this is a must play.

Marvel's Spider-Man9

What a ride this game was. I had all the faith in the world that Insomniac would create a Spiderman game unlike anything we have had before but I didn't quite expect it to be this good. If you are like me, your first question might be; How is the web slinging? I'll tell you that it feels better than ever. Of coarse traversal has never been a problem with Insomniacs games. I mean look how much fun it was just grinding around in Sunset Overdrive. The only thing I can say that I didn't particularly like was the combat style. It's obviously ripped right out of the Arkham games, and still to this day I have no idea why people think that combat is fun. It's just boring. Spiderman's abilities make it a tad more fun for me than the Batman games but this button prompt method is just boring to me. It's the kind of combat that is built for looks not for gameplay. That's really the only thing I didn't like. The rest of the game more than makes up for it imo. If you are a fan of the Arkham games you will definitely like this game. If you aren't a fan of the Arkham games I would still suggest you try it. Im'm guessing that is you don't like the Arkham games it's because of the combat, but again Spiderman is still incredibly fun. Just try it.

Fallout 764
Nov 23, 2018
For once in my life I am reviewing a game that I legit can not understand how ANYONE would find it fun at all. Don't get me wrong, if you do end up liking it, awesome! I'm glad you don't feel robbed of 60 bucks (or 40 bucks now). This game is an embarrassment to the Fallout series as a whole. A soulless husk **** with nothing more than re-used assets from Fallout 4. Terrible bugs and glitches that far exceed what fans have come to expect from a Fallout game. This is not the usual charming jank that are present in all Bethesda games. Crashes quite often, sometimes up to 3 times in as little as 2 hours, though I'm playing on the Xbox one s and not the X. Maybe it will play better on the X I don't know. The thing is though even if this was a perfectly polished experience that ran smooth consistently it would still be utterly boring. I was at level 12 I think before I decided to walk away for good and I rarely saw any players, and on the off chance that I did, none of them were even remotely interested in fighting or doing anything more than a wave as to say hello. Then again why would they fight me because even if they do kill me they get ABSOLUTELY nothing lol. There is no reason to fight another player. So co-op then right? Good luck getting a party together. You will spend 80% of your time getting it to work right. All in all this game is an embarrassment all around. Old engine, new engine, updated engine, it doesn't matter the game **** to play and to even look at. How awesome would it be if Bethesda just gave the rights to Obsidian. Sure there were bugs in New Vegas but it was STILL one of the best Fallout games ever. If you are dead set on buying 76, do yourself a favor and wait until it hits about 20 bucks. Trust me it wont be long until it does.

Red Dead Redemption 210
Oct 27, 2018
Red Dead Redemption 2 might be first game I came across this generation where I can honestly give it a 10 and not come up with any reasons why it shouldn't be a 10. Know what I mean? For example when God of War released I gave it a 10 but there was a voice in the back of my head that would come up with reasons it doesn't deserve a 10, but it absolutely did. I did not get that at all with Red Dead. The giant and gorgeous open world is breath taking. That may sound cliche' but I honestly have NO IDEA how Rockstar made everything look SO damn good. The lighting, the shadows, the way the sun pierces the clouds, to the thunderstorms coming from a distance that you can literally see rolling over the hills. It should be illegal how good this game works, and that's an understatement. Some may feel like the world is a bit empty but it really needs to be in some cases. It makes you feel like you are roughing it out in the wilderness, with no one around for miles. Combat is super fun, and of course dead eye is back with a vengeance. This sounds super crazy I know but please before you completely disregard my review hear me out. RDR 2 reminds me so much of Metal Gear Solid 5 TPP, but with a much more coherent story. What I mean by that is like in MGS5 you have a base, or in RDR's case a camp which you can donate money to to upgrade it by adding additional supplies, lodging, ammunition, etc. Before each mission start you choose a load out by standing next to your horse and opening saddle bags to show your inventory. Since you can't carry everything on Arthur (the protagonist) you leave most of it for your horse to carry. A small piece of advice: Upgrade the camp as soon as possible so you can unlock fast travel. If you don't you will have a lot of long horse rides which honestly didn't bother me at all but I kept getting side tracked for hours, so if you are like me you probably want a good way to get about without being **** into whatever instance out in the wilderness. The attention to detail here would give The Witcher 3 a run for it's money, its insane. You'll be able to figure that out for yourself just by looking up at the sky lol. Combat is super fun and can sometimes be incredibly intense, if not a little sluggish. You know, the normal GTA type character movement. The only gripe I could possibly come up with is the UI. The weapon/item wheel can be a bit confusing, especially while on the horse, but it just takes a bit getting used to. It's not completely un-wielding. Anyway, I don't want to give too much away so I will stop now. What I will say is that I can absolutely guarantee that if you see someone give this game a 1, they are completely and utterly garbage, and have no business writing reviews. I can understand people that just didn't like the game, but to give it a 1? I know no one takes those people seriously (at least anyone even slightly intelligent) but it's just sad to see. SSSSSOOOOOOO much work went into making this game and even though I don't always agree with the direction Rockstar goes sometimes, they always find a way to go above and beyond for every release.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey8
Oct 9, 2018
Assassin's Creed Odyssey is definitely a must play, even if the use of micro-transactions is a bit intrusive towards the later part of the game. The map is insanely huge and gorgeous. Yes, a lot of the map is water but even still it seems like its less than half the map which makes the amount of land you can explore G I G A N T I C! Yes naval battles are back and they are super similar to Black Flag's mechanics. Boarding works the same, shooting works the same, although its arrows instead of cannons, and upgrading your ship has a game play loop to it that is really satisfying. You can even customize the look. The biggest change to the Ship mechanic would be the Lieutenants. Lieutenants add perks to the ship like plus damage, or plus armor, etc. They also have uses when boarding a ship. They fight right alongside you. Like gear these Lieutenants range from common to legendary status. Speaking of gear. If you were like me and wished Origins had armor that wasn't just cosmetic, or wanted a change from the status quo upgrading the same armor you have the entire game then Odyssey is your jam. Now armor pieces consist of 5 types. Head, chest, legs, arms, and waist. Each piece has their perks and range from common, to legendary. Weapons are still the same from Origins. Sword, double swords, staffs, maces, axes, spears, etc. However bows have changed and work nothing like origins. Now you only carry one at all times and upgrade perks to make it do stuff like the predator bow did when you followed a shot to the target. Or shoot 4 arrows out of time with the Multiple shot perk. And you can FINALLY craft arrows. That was a much welcome change for me. Listen, Odyssey deserves a chance. If you are one of those people saying "this isn't an Assassin's Creed game!" Ok then it's not now play it it is still good enough to warrant your time and money. The value alone is exemplary. Giving you tons more hours of play than any previous AC games. All I am asking is that you keep an open mind, and before you completely write this game off just try it. You might be pleasantly surprised. My one and only gripe is the heavy push at micro-transactions. You will get to a point where you have to grind for hours to get to the level whatever the Next story mission is at, and it's quite clear what Ubisolft's intentions are. To get you to purchase Helix credits so that you can get XP boosters, better gear, etc. It isn't all bad though. This kinda forced me to explore the world looking for locations to complete, and I ended up getting WAY better gear for doing so. It just throws the pacing off quite heavily. Ok, ok I'm done now. Just try it before ya criticize it.

Vampyr7
Jun 8, 2018
For the first time in a long time Vampyr is almost exactly what I expected. A good enough RPG that does just the bare minimum to keep you chugging along until the next big release. Vampyr does nothing fantastic but it doesn't do anything horribly wrong. Vampyr's ultimate weak point, imo is the combat. Seeing gameplay previews before release, the combat looked relatively precise and deliberate. After playing though I found it not so precise and not at all deliberate. I felt like someone with a severe lack of depth perception. Being mostly melee, most of the combat is close up and personal, but whenever Jonathan (the protagonist) seems close enough to attack he actually isn't at all which leads to a lot of misses. The same can be said for enemies though. It seems the NPCs have the same lack of depth perception than you. When I found myself making mistakes that left me wide open for an attack the enemy would get within striking distance and miss completely. The good news is it makes the game easier. The bad news is it makes the game easier. Imo, this is what turns what could be great combat into very sloppy combat. When enemies miss more than half the time it makes combat feel more tedious and boring. Don't get me wrong, I kinda make that sound worse than it is because its not awful by any stretch, it's just not great. That is probably what I found to be the worst part of the game. Everything else though, the feeding mechanic, looting and dialogue are all good enough to pick up the lack of exciting combat pretty well. I would go more in depth with the feeding mechanic but I don't think I can articulate without giving too much away. All in all I did enjoy my time with Vampyr but if I were speaking to a friend I would suggest waiting for a used copy or a price drop.

State of Decay 26
May 22, 2018
Long story short I enjoyed my time in State of Decay 2 but knowing what i know now I think I would have been MUCH more satisfied if I waited for the price to go down. To me this is about a $20.00 game in a perfect world. SoD 2 has some really fun and addicting mechanics but littered with physics glitches and bugs that by no means ruin the experience for me but they do tend to put a damper on the fun factor. The fact that there is a button committed to getting the player unstuck inside of walls, ladders, rocks, etc says it all. Just like the first one, SoD 2 looks good enough when there aren't any frame rate issues but if you have an Xbox one X this game might make you mad that you bought an X to begin with. For me it didn't play much better than the standard version. All in all though I guess I can't complain too much. At least it wasn't $59.99. All in all SoD 2 is a "between game releases game". The kind of game you play while you wait for another game to release. Truth be told I am more disappointed in Xbox than I am undead labs. Xbox aren't doing themselves any favors releasing exclusives like Sea of Thieves, and SoD 2. Sub-par experiences with superb/expensive hardware. Sad day to be an Xbox fan. I know it sounds like I should be giving this game a 3 or something but really it's just ok. If you loved the first one it's definitely worth your time.

I'm not here to tell you that God of War is better than "insert game here", and I don't care if you only play on xbox , nintendo, PC, or a god damn Sega Saturn. Please try this game. Borrow a PS4 if you have to. Just like Zelda BOTW, God of War is a generation defining game, and like it or not it will be remembered for years to come. That much is obvious. God of War does a fantastic job at creating a story, and fun game play in a world that I genuinely want to explore every inch. I will say, a lot of gaming news sites talk about how similar GoW is to The Last of Us. Honestly other than a Man being with a younger child I don't really see that too much. Maybe I missed something but I just don't see it. The game looks absolutely gorgeous but I only noticed that the first hour or so, after that I couldn't care less about visuals because game play is king and God of War game play draws a lot of the focus from everything else. I could throw that axe all day and not get tired of seeing it come back, especially when Kratos throws it so far you can't even see it anymore. Fan-effing-tastic. If you can't afford this game I'll f@#king buy it for you!

Far Cry 57
Apr 13, 2018
I compare Far Cry 5 to movies like Die Hard and Lethal Weapon. Not much depth, and somewhat downright corny but a joy none the less. That's not to say Die Hard or Lethal Weapon are bad movies or Far Cry 5 is a bad game. All 3 are good ole fashion entertainment. Loud explosions and fast paced action is what Far Cry 5 does best, that is unless you are caught into one of the 15 minute NPC monologue that can not be skipped. No matter how many times you play through. Honestly though Far Cry 5 is a well made, and polished game. Other than the occasional weird choice of respawn locations (usually looking down a barrel the minute the load screen ends) Far Cry 5 runs flawlessly. Not much else to say about it. I encourage anyone who does play it, play to the end, trust me. My biggest gripe is that it seems that Far Cry is starting to get into Assassin's Creed disease. I don't know how much longer Far Cry can survive with the same formula. Sure, Ubisoft got rid of the endless tower climbing but there just isn't enough of a change to say that it's a far cry away from Far Cry (see what I did there? :-) I believe its time for a bit of a shake up. Still though Far Cry 5 is just good enough to recommend a play through, even at $59.99. Better do it now before God of War releases lol.

Definitely not the game I was hoping would put my faith back in Xbox exclusives. There just isn't enough there. In fact it's almost nothing other than the occasional rush you get from trying to take down another crew. The thing is there really isn't a reason to do anything at all unless you love collecting cosmetics. It is truly a shame, the game is gorgeous and had unlimited potential but unfortunately it fits too close to Xbox's new direction. Make a very pretty but EMPTY shell and slap a price on it. Substance is what us xbox fans need and as much as I would LOVE to put away the playstation and come back home, Sea of Thieves doesn't even come close to making that a reality. When you are a fan that knows what Rare, and Microsoft are capable of to playing this game for the first **** it's a tragedy.

WTF Konami!? What are you doing!? I WAS willing to give Konami the benefit of the doubt if not only for the people that had nothing to do with the infamous split of Hideo and Konami. I bought the game and gave it a shot. The first hour or so is a slow and brutal build up to a mediocre game loop. Food, water, oxygen. Food, water, oxygen STORY MISSION, food, water, oxygen. A.I is absolutely terrible. Just get on a waist high rock and slowly kill anything that comes after you. AND THEN THERE IS THE 10 DOLLAR PER EXTRA SAVE SLOT!?!?! I don't understand how, unless you work for Konami and want to doctor reviews, anyone would give this game a 10. ARE YOU SERIOUS!?! This is the direction you want gaming to go? Paying for EXTRA SAVE SLOTS. WTF are you thinking!? I get it. Some people can over react (myself included) over the most minor thing, but BUYING A SAVE SLOT FOR 10 DOLLARS IS WELL WORTH THE ANGER. **** this game and **** Konami!

Halo Wars 27
Dec 11, 2017
RTS games are not my specialty by a long shot. In fact the last real RTS I have played besides X-Com was Command and Conquer Red Alert, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Halo Wars 2 was a refreshing break from the RPG like, adventure inspired action games that have bombarded my time this year until now (12-11-17, I know I'm a bit late to this one). I was shocked at how underwhelming (in a good way) Halo Wars 2 was in terms of the control system not being so intimidating, I never got a chance to play the first one so I went in completely blind, and not knowing what exactly to expect. Even though it's been years since I played Red Alert, I remembered the important bits of base building, Headquarters, Resources, power, barracks, etc. Not a whole lot else I can say about this one. It's really fun to play, especially for the 20 dollar price point I was able to get last weekend. It has it's limitations, it is after all a RTS game on a console. A type of game that doesn't have a shining reputation for console gaming. Although I would never have spent 60 bucks on it, I have enjoyed my time with it for the price I paid.

L.A. Noire7
Nov 26, 2017
Before I get to my thoughts I do want to say that for the current price of $39.99 L.A. Noire is totally worth it and if you never got around to playing the original version then I double down on my previous statement. When Noire first came out it was coined for being revolutionary in terms of character movement and body language. From what I remember not a lot was said about how the game played. I think a lot of people (including myself) thought this was a kind of GTA spin off. It especially seemed that way from the screen shots back then. I say back then like it was a long time ago but it wasn't. I just think that between then and now the gaming industry has changed considerably, almost like a growth spurt. Quickly out dating games that were only made months prior. In my opinion pacing is L.A. Noire's biggest problem. Solving cases, and cop chasing sounds like a blast but the solving part can be quite a slog sometimes. Part of solving cases is interrogating suspects. This is where the "revolutionary" movement and body language came in. By looking at a suspects face you are supposed to determine whether they are lying or telling the truth. In the original I think the main 3 options were good cop, doubt, and accuse. They are now good cop, bad cop, and accuse. By looking at the suspects face after asking a question you need to play close attention to not only what the suspect says but body language and face movement after they say anything at all. This is where it falters a little bit I think. Unless i was sitting about a foot away from my T.V I had a really hard time knowing when a suspect was telling the truth or lying, and unless I had the right evidence I would sometimes end up kind of falling the interrogation prompting me to go back to a certain crime scene to search for more clues or evidence. Effectively making into quite a slog. To be quite honest the new version doesn't do a much better job in that aspect. The stories for the most part are really interesting, and it made me want to keep playing despite mistakes I had made. For the most part if it wasn't for that kind of thing happening quite often this game would have a much higher score from me. Normally I would never tell anyone to use a guide on your first play through but in this case I say go for it. It is still worth playing just for the stories inside each case.

Star Wars Battlefront II1
Nov 15, 2017
They were so close! EA had a perfect opportunity to make possibly one of the best Star Wars games in years. Battlefront 1 was a great multiplayer game but lacking in the depth department. The lack of content i.e campaign and honestly the lack of multiplayer modes made Battlefront 1 more of an appetizer than an entree. Battlefront 2 comes around and they literally give fans EVERYTHING we have been asking for. Campaign: check, More modes: Check, Dog fights in space: check, no season pass that splits player base: check. They had it! They **** had it! Then the inevitable happens. EA. EA happened. A loot crate/progression system so convoluted it makes playing Battlefront 2 more like my job as an accountant. Great! The heroes are now 75% less credits now. So what!? The main problem is STILL there. Pay to win mechanics in a full price game. Sure, you cant buy loot crates with legendaries. Awesome! Still though people with bigger wallets can still BUY AN ADVANTAGE OVER PLAYERS THAT DONT SPEND TONS OF MONEY ON :LOOT BOXES!!!!!!!!! This is pay to win!!!! So the cost of heroes goes down. GREAT! It fixes none of the pay to win concerns that the fans STILL have. It's a god damn crying shame. Soooooo close.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus9
Nov 13, 2017
Thanks to Assassin's Creed Origins I was a little late to the punch with Wolfenstein. I gotta say with all the praise I have heard the past week or so about this game I was more than shocked at the low user score. Currently it is sitting at a 5.9 and I can't think of anything during my experience with the game that would subtract from the score THAT much. No micro-transactions: Awesome. Great Narrative: Awesome. Great sound, and great gun play. One thing though, and it might be my lack of skill with FPS, but this game was f@#king HARD for me. I was on the difficulty that I would say would be considered as "Normal" and I was dying left and right and a lot of times I had no idea what killed me! Is this a bad thing? Of coarse not! In fact it is nice to have an FPS that is not your stereotypical mindless shooter. The cast of characters imo is what makes this game really shine though. Everyone has a very memorable presence, and not once was I ever saying to myself "who was that again?" Everybody is EXTREMELY well acted especially the Mad T.V. actress. I can't think of her real name to save my life but she voices Grace Walker. Grace is the leader of a resistance group in New York. I don't want to give too much away but if you are around my age and watched/remember Mad TV you will know exactly who I am talking about. My ONE gripe about my play through is a certain story arch, and again I don't want to give anything away because the part I'm referring to is a total WTF?! moment. Although I appreciate this particular part for what it is, it is still a bit of a stretch. Seriously though, buy this game. If not just for the previous sentence lol. I had a blast. After playing Assassin's Creed Origins, Mario Odyssey, and Shadow of War, Wolfenstein 2 is a great way to sit back relax and kill **** mother f@#kers.

Assassin's Creed Origins8
Nov 1, 2017
I went into this game totally expecting not to like it. For months I have listened to certain Ubisoft devs talk about the changes they have made for Assassin's Creed Origins, and I wasn't super happy about what I was hearing. Things like "zelda like combat", or going from RPG elements to full on RPG. I, like a lot of old people like me don't like change as much as we should, but I have always LOVED Assassin;s Creed. It's faults and all. Anyway, in AC Origins you are thrust into ancient Egypt and looking for revenge. Bayek (or however you spell it) is the protagonist you will be for about 90% of the game. I don't want to say too much about him for fear of spoilers, but I should say I like his character a whole lot more than the last few after Edward Kenway. The shining star of this game in my opinion is Egypt itself. Never have I seen a more beautiful recreation of the land of the pyramids. Everything is beautiful. If not for a few pop in instances and some 3 to 4 second freezes every once in a while the game runs pretty smooth. I did see some frame rate dips when a lot is happening on the screen but it wasn't enough for me to get frustrated. I think the combat is really close to being excellent but I feel like the lock on system holds it back a bit. If you are fighting just one enemy the combat system shines but considering that rarely happens, the lock on system can be a detriment. Cycling through 5 or 6 enemies to get to the one about to attack you can be super frustrating at times. I can't say it never works, it just isn't as smooth as the Batman Arkham style of combat the series adopted for quite some time. Another change for the best imo is the loot system. Weapons and bows have many shapes and sizes. You have your swords, sickle swords, spears, scepters, heavy blades, heavy blunts, etc. As far as the bows go you have hunter bows, predator bows, warrior bows, and light bows. Then you have your blues (common) purple (rare) and yellow (legendary). I think Ubisoft did a great job at making different weapons unigue but I feel like they kind of dropped the ball on the legendary side of it. Still worth getting, but they don't have anything super special about them other than having one more perk than the purple weapons. You also have a small shield now which like weapons come in blue, purple, yellow. I think the Legendary shields are worth getting the most. For example one of the legendary shields I have poison enemies after a block. All this requires is holding down LB on xbox one and you block all light attacks. Needless to say this shield has been super helpful. Anyway, I don't want to give a lot away but I now feel AC Origins is a step in the right direction in terms of revitalizing the series. Give it a shot if you like RPGs, Even if you have NEVER liked AC it is possible you might like this one.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War1
Oct 10, 2017
Great fun can be had in Shadow of War. The gameplay feels good, and for the most part improved upon. The Nemesis system has been fine tuned to almost the point of perfection. The developers at monolith really out did themselves this time around. Before I got to the end of the game this game was a 9/10 for me. I then confirmed what my friends have been trying to tell me about the true ending being locked behind a pay wall or astronomically large grind loop. I can either spend a "Destiny" amount of hours grinding for Legendary Orcs, or spend an abundance of cash getting legendary orcs through loot boxes, because Legendary Orcs are the only type of Orcs that will even give you a fighting chance at the end game battles. Seriously. The end game battles CAN NOT be won with Orcs lower than Legendary status. I refuse to spend money on that **** and I desperately BEG players to not buy them either. PLEASE!!! This CAN NOT be the future of gaming!

Cuphead is, in my opinion, a testament to what indie developers are really capable. It's art style is reminiscent of early Disney cartoons, and from what I have seen really the first of it's kind. At least the first of it's kind worth writing about. Cuphead in itself is a brutally hard side scrolling platformer/bullet hell game designed around it's challenging boss battles. Each boss is unique in appearance and capabilities, and really forces you to change play style and attack patterns on a whim. I should say that if you are looking for a relaxing mario/sonic type platformer you may want to pass . Cuphead is super challenging. I know some other players will scream "it's not that hard" from the rooftops to show their superior gameplay skills, and I'm sure it might be easy for some players but this game is f@#king HARD! I love it though! It really gives you a sense of accomplishment when you finally beat a level that has taken you many tries to master. A few small complaints I have were not being able to switch weapon loadouts on the fly, and some level desings were just outright not fair, and seem like they were designed to troll only. Another glaring omission was the ability to play online co-op. Couch co-op is great and all but this game needs a true multiplayer in my opinion and I am super curious as to why they left it out of cuphead. other than that, a truly great buy at its current price of $19.99. Cuphead deserves your time.

NBA 2K181

This is a classic case of no competition equals worse product scenario. Due to NBA 2k being the only "decent" Basketball video game on the market currently has lead to a developer/publisher knowing they can get away with shady business practices. Micro transactions around cosmetics is one thing (and not a big deal in my opinion) but micro transactions that are designed around allowing you to skip large chunks **** tell me that your game isn't worth playing to begin with. Maybe some gamers have hundreds of hours free to grind away at NBA 2K18 but I don't, and I am certainly not going to spend 20 dollars per hour skipped. My advice would be to vote with your wallets and send a message to developers that this kind of nonsense isn't ok. 40 years from now I don't want to watch my grand children play a game with these kinds of micro transactions and then tell them "I watched these kinds of micro transactions flood the market and I supported them 100%" lol :-) Look, if you are fine with this crap then by all means pay away. Or buy the game but not micro transactions. Either way you will come across someone who DID pay for stats and you may be left in the dust. I beg my fellow gamers to not make the same mistake I did and pay for this game.

Destiny 29
Sep 8, 2017
Just a little disclaimer: I loved the original Destiny, so if you are someone who did NOT like Destiny 1 at all then you may wan't to look to other reviews because Destiny was my kind of game, therefore my feelings towards what Destiny SHOULD be is probably different from the reader's. I love Destiny 2. Fu@#ing LOVE IT. Everything from the finest detail to the soundtrack is fantastic. I have played through the main story and am now doing end game stuff and to be quite honest, there hasn't been one thing (other than the way shaders were implemented) where I thought "this is boring" or "this part ****." The shooting is still the best in the industry as far as I am concerned, and some of the new audio created for certain guns sound amazing. Like a real throaty Dodge Hemi. I gotta hand it to Bungie. I thought the new weapon slots were a bad idea. Consolidating sniper rifles, and shotguns into what would be in destiny 1 the heavy slot seemed like a really bad idea. Who would pick a shotgun over a rocket launcher? Apparently I would, because shotguns for once feel really devastating, and snipers sometimes come in way more handy in certain scenarios. Weapon slots are now called Kinetic (taking what would have been the primary slot in D1). Energy Weapons (what would have been special weapon slot in D1), and Power Weapons of coarse taking place of the Heavy Weapon slot in D1. You could now technically have 2 auto rifles equipped with say a shotgun in the power weapon slot, or maybe running Scout/Hand cannon/Rocket Launcher is more your style. There are literally hundreds of loadout possibilities. You can now travel from planet to planet WITHOUT going into orbit first. You can now fast travel to different parts of the same planet, again WITHOUT going into orbit. So many quality of life changes were made making it so that Destiny 2 seems like it respects your time so much more than D1. I am not going to go to far into it for fear of spoilers, but if you loved D1 you will LOVE D2. You may see low user reviews here from people who can't stand to see a game that a lot of people love do well, and these people are easy to spot with scores like 0 and complaining of "lack of content" in D2. If they are complaining about lack of content in D2 then they never played D1 because one of the things bungie made sure of is making it so that you don't feel like you have to do one certain type of grind loop to get higher light (or in this case power) levels. I would honestly say that D2 has about 75% more content than year 3 D1. Don't get me wrong there is still grinding, and if you hate grinding then Destiny was never a game for you to begin with. That is not an insult, that is just me calling it what it is, and that's fine! Destiny fans know what I mean. Eyes up Guardians!

Destiny: The Collection8
Jun 17, 2017
I'm sure no one will actually see my review but seeing as how I really love to talk/write video games I figured I could still show my support/criticism. I was one of the many millions of people that bought Destiny day one. I enjoyed the gameplay quite a bit. Shooting mechanics were virtually perfect. Super responsive and felt really good getting headshots. My biggest gripe was with lack of story, or any kind of motivation other than loot and several types of currency. For some reason Bungie decided to hide all the lore through grimoire cards you receive after beating certain levels, bosses, or challenges. I couldn't help but think "If Bungie didn't care enough about the story to actually implement it in the game, then why should I go through the work of looking up every card on the internet?" After finishing vanilla Destiny I think I did the strikes and a few other things a couple of times I just got kinda burnt out on it. I didn't come back to Destiny until Destiny: The collection released, and I gotta give credit where credit is due. Despite a lot of lower critic scores and criticism of the original games lack of depth, Bungie stuck with it and really built something special. I have only been back for about 2 weeks now but I am having a blast. New weapons, missions, strikes, raids, and stories make Destiny the game it was meant to be. There is ssssssoooo much more substance here. If you are someone who played Destiny when it first came out and like what was there but ditched it after doing everything the game had to offer at the time then you should definitely give this game another chance. It is well worth it.

Batman: Arkham Knight8
Jun 4, 2017
Thanks to the somewhat slow passed couple months in the gaming industry I have been able to chip away at my backlog. Batman Arkham Knight was a game I desperately wanted to play when it first released but unfortunately I never got around to it. Mostly due to the story being spoiled for me a few months after release. Anyway, enough of that. Batman Arkham Knight is a whole lot like Arkham City. Like Arkham City, Batman Arkham Knight is an open world but this time you are actually defending Gotham City from Scarecrow and his sidekick The Arham Knight. Long story short Batman AK is a fantastic game that strives really hard to be as good, if not better than Arkham City. Though a fantastic game, in my opinion it doesn't quite reach Arkham City. I think my main problem is the batmobile. The batmobile is now apart of your Batman as much as his cape. It's being used almost constantly and though I understand that Rocksteady needed a solution to having a huge open world game and no fast travel. That is where the Batmobile comes in, and unfortunately over stays it's welcome. Don't get me wrong. The Batmobile is a necessity when you are fighting a huge private army, who happen to own thousands of tank drones. The problem is that the momentum of the game comes to a screeching halt when you get somewhere infested with these tank drones. It then just turns into a continuous bore of strafe, fire, strafe, fire, strafe, fire, strafe, fire. It just isn't fun. Fortunately though, the rest of the game is so good it completely over shadows these issues. The story is great, and I REALLY love what they do with the Joker now that he is dead. You will see what I mean if you play it. Batman Arkham Knight is a very good ending to this great series, and I can't wait to see what Rocksteady does next.

The Last of Us Remastered10
May 20, 2017
I'm ashamed that it took me so long to play this game, especially considering how much I loved the Uncharted series. Somehow this game ended up in my back log, but no more. For me and what I look for in video games The Last of Us is as perfect **** as I could ever hope to find. You play as Joel. A middle aged parent living in a quarantine zone in Boston. I won't give too much away but Joel has a friend named Tess, and both are very good at smuggling. It becomes quite apparent that what is left of the United States government is corrupt and loves censorship. Anyway, it is really hard to give you much more than that without spoiling a lot. It is not an open world game. Instead it focuses on a more linear approach but at the same time rewards exploring players. You will need supplies and ammunition both of which are very hard to find so make everything count. I also suggest playing on hard your first run through. Normal can be a bit too easy at times. If you own a ps4 or ps3 pick this game up as soon as possible. People will be talking about this game for years to come, and now that The Last of Us part 2 is in the works now is the perfect time to play it.

State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition7
May 19, 2017
I'm wwaaaaaayyy late to the punch on this one but I only purchased an Xbone S last week, so I am working on all of my back log games now and State of Decay was one of those. State of Decay's concept seemed really great to me even in a time where the zombie thing has been way over done. That said, I'm super happy I gave this game a chance despite some super frustrating bugs, though few and far between can be quite a hindrance. More than once I was out on a supply run getting some really good stuff and then the game would crash and I would lose all progress. This happened 3 times of that magnitude, and another 2 when it didn't really matter all that much. Thankfully though, State of Decay gave me plenty of reasons to keep playing. Combat is real simple, but quite fun really. It reminded me a bit of Dying Light. Stamina is a huge factor and also knowing your limits when it comes to facing several zombies at a time. Go out alone or bring someone from you group of survivors to help you scavenge supplies, searching for new survivors to add to your roster, or just doing main story missions. What I thought was really cool was being able to switch to different characters with different stats. If you have been using one character he/she can get tired, effectively draining your usable stamina, so it is a good idea to switch to other characters to give your favorites a chance to rest. I have always been of the mind that graphics matter very little next to gameplay but I could see why graphics would be important to some people and in that respect State of Decay might frustrate you. Keep in mind though State of Decay was a 360 game ported to the Xbone. It is not a remaster. From what I understand the game runs a little better on the xbone but this is not a remaster, so you may want to keep some expectations in check. If you haven't played this one yet check it out. It is a lot cheaper now since it has been out a while and it may yet surprise you.
