The production values aren't going to win any awards, and some of the mechanics work better than others(the hose is pretty lame), but Bloom Blox is an innovative and amusing piece of entertainment worthy of the Spielberg name. [June 2008, p.87]
Boom Blox does what so many Wii titles wish they could, by splitting the difference between casual players and lifelong gamers. You can pass the Wiimote to your grandma or a 5-year-old and they'll have a ball with its clever mix of brainy puzzles and satisfying explosions. But hard-core players like me will find a surprising amount of depth to the gameplay and a satisfying, addictive challenge.

Boom Blox may not be the best Wii game, depending on your proclivities, but it's definitely the best use of the Wii yet. It's immensely accessible, wonderfully tactile, and stands as one of the best treatments of gaming in a 3D space.

This is still one of the best games ever made, even in 2026. Great replay value. I feel sorry for you if you missed this experience.

Wand boredom to be gone? Play this! It's a great game for everyone! The graphics are ehh, but who cares? It's still a good game. I have mixed feelings of the motion controls; If your hands are shaky, It gets hard to lock on at precise areas like a tiny gap in the gold mine levels, and the editor is worse, due to the fact that it's hard to control an editor with a wiimote being held by little johny toerag. The motion controls on the other hand make you feel like your really throwing things at a structure like the heavy blox in the rescue stages in those gorilda levels. Overall I give it an 8.

Explores the wiimote mechanics with nice graphic physics, good visual, funny games and a nice multiplayer proposal, and with online interaction and creation possibilities.

Boom Blox delivers so much content, that it would be hard not to find something to love in this title. Give it a try. What looks to be rather simple is actually complex and will keep you playing for hours.

A true gem amongst a lot of bile in the Wii's software library.

Boom Blox is a fantastic game. The puzzler can certainly be called a classic in it's genre. The puzzels are diverse, challenging and are fun to play. The smoothness of the controls and the the physics of the buildings are something which we have never seen before.

Brilliant, but is it down to Spielberg's influence? Give us more to find out. [July 2008, p.74]

There's one big problem that can’t be concealed by Boom Blox's triumphs: it's almost entirely devoid of challenge. [July 2008, p.124]

Fun, quirky, and a unique concept. Truly an overlooked game of the previous console generation, and another one of not only EA's gems, but Spielberg's.

I really like Boom Blox, I spent many hours playing it and never got tired of it. I really like that this game can let you build and customize your own levels. Score: 4/5.

This game is very fun to play by yourself or with a friend or family member. I was surprised by the graphics and the physics overall. I did notice, however, some minor aiming issues. When I aimed at a block and threw, it didn't respond to my throw, even though I was holding down B.

A nice, fun and relaxing game that takes full advantage of the Wiimote. it's a combination of the Jenga board game and the Angry Birds video game. Recommended for Wii owners.

It feels like it could be some sort of flash game, with such simple minigames as aim your wiimote and shoot things, Jenga, and throw balls at things. The multiplayer could have been so much more (that's what I bought it for.) By no means is it UNplayable, just not a 9/10 like the ratings say. I wouldn't pay more than $10 for it.
