It's just still an overblown, entertainingly inappropriate, B-grade, sexist action ride that doesn't let anything tie it down or control it. [Issue#324]
Bayonetta 3 excels in over-the-top madness. In the best possible way. But the story with wacky characters across parallel universes, is just the canvas for the real highlight of Bayonetta 3: the action. The titular witch's lightning-fast attacks are complemented her own magical powers, but you can now also temporarily take control of several enormous creatures, the "Demon Slaves”.
Bayonetta is back and the long-awaited third game not only builds up on the excellent formula of games past, it goes one step forward and adds new protagonists, experiments with elements of other genres, improves on its plot structure, and allows all kinds of players to enjoy it, creating an experience that's both familiar and fresh, as well as accessible, thrilling, gorgeous, and enveloping. Bayonetta 3 is a fantastic addition to the Nintendo Switch catalogue and it deserves to be on everyone's collection.

As a fan who loved the first two games and had been waiting five years for this one, Bayonetta 3 completely disappointed me—so much so that I couldn’t even bring myself to replay it. The gameplay feels different from the previous games, and her character has been completely transformed: no witty remarks, no taunting of enemies—she’s lost her style entirely. She barely speaks, and on top of that, she sometimes seems to be there against her **** environments just feel big, pointlessly repetitive, and empty. Bayonetta doesn’t need platforming sections; I hated the narrow corridors, and sometimes I didn’t know where to go. At times, the characters are unwatchable—in the first cutscene, Bayonetta looks like she’s made of plastic, and the camera work is pretty annoying at various points. The atmosphere fails to convey the ‘Bayonetta’ vibe, as do the enemies; it doesn’t align with the style of the previous games. It’s great that they wanted to take risks with each chapter, making it wild, but the story is a mess. In the previous chapters, it was always simple yet engaging; the script here is truly inferior. The story was a total disaster. It’s really a shame there aren’t more save slots like in the previous chapters; if I want to start over from scratch without already having the weapons, etc., I have to lose all my saves! It feels more like Astral Chain 2 than Bayonetta. Viola? She didn’t impress me. Jeanne... I’m sorry.

Average looking game(played it on my Switch 2 but the version i still Switch 1 native) with stable framerate. I rarely play action games such as this one but the convoluted and a bit nonsensical story of Bayonetta pulled me in(except Viola).

Bayonetta 3 is an experience filled with a constant feeling of surprise, quality of life add-ons, dynamic and electrifying action and an epic story. Though it lacks visual refinement, the end result is a must-play for fans of the series. Although unfortunately there is still male gaze imprinted on the game, being a woman and playing with such powerful and fun characters such as Bayonetta, Viola and Jeanne is a huge joy.

Bayonetta 3 is an awesome game with absolutely incredible action sequences with great gameplay mechanics. Granted there's issues with the story and it's a bit thin but overall it's just there to make all the cool stuff happen. That's pretty much it. Which to be fair that's kind of the MO of the entire series of. This game deserves so much more acknowledgment than it gets. I hate to say it but this series greatly benefit from Not being Nintendo exclusive.

Platinum Games‘ return to form manages to deliver one of the most action-packed and over the top games of recent memory. Bayonetta's demon slaves enrich the already deep combat even further and are both fun to watch and control. Sure, the story is as convoluted and uninteresting as ever, not all of the game‘s many mechanics and set-pieces are as polished as the combat and the Switch‘s aging hardware doesn’t do the graphics any favors. But if you like your action games fast, fluid and completely bonkers, this is a tour de force that packs enough punch and content to be worth the asking price.

Bayonetta 3 is easily one of the best games Platinum Games has ever made! With great fluid combat systems and tons of variety, Bayonetta 3 brings back everything that worked in the previous installments, duplicates it all, and adds some great new fun innovations. The only thing that really holds this title back is the limitations of the Switch hardware.

While there is a lot of craziness in the world of Bayonetta 3, at its core the game provides solid combat that I’m sure will keep fans entertained for hours.

While some ideas get lost in Bayonetta 3’s endless sprint to keep you entertained, there’s no other action game with this imagination, wit or style. Prepare to explore its mad depths for weeks.

Despite featuring what's arguably the best combat system in the series, Bayonetta 3 is nothing short of disappointing. Bayonetta's core gameplay is outstanding, weaving fluid controls together with incredible weapon variety and tons of fun mechanics to play around with. The combo potential is high and battles just feel great to play… as Bayonetta. An unforgiveable amount of playtime is dedicated to newcomer Viola, stealth segments that make poor use of Jeanne, and relentless gimmick stages that wear out their welcome immediately. Tossing in mediocre level design, lacklustre performance, and a flavourless story that panders towards the current multiverse craze, it's clear PlatinumGames has lost its magic touch when it comes to the Umbran Witch. Bayonetta 3 is simply mediocre, at best.

tl;dr : didn't like the characters or the story, gameplay isn't as good as the previous two but is still good. Doesn't feel very replayable unlike the other ones. _________________________________________ Probably the weakest entry in the series, but still a good Platinum game. The gameplay and game feel are about on par with the previous two titles, so if you've enjoyed those, you probably will enjoy this one too. However I really did NOT care for the story and characters in this one. Usually I really like how the story in these games is told, the charm and comedy of it, with the occasional emotional moments. The characters are each their own brand of bonkers and Bayonetta's interactions with them usually feel organic in genuine. Not in Bayo 3 though. The story was... ehh. The story in these games is always bonkers, but it just felt especially disjointed in this one. Something about the way it was told and shown, and how the levels were chained together and having you switch POVs between the various playable characters. Speaking of the characters... Did the studio change writers, or something? They all almost felt like caricatures of their own selves, like they were written by a fan in a... well, FAN-fiction. Even Bayonetta herself felt off (and no, it had nothing to do with the new voice actor who did a BANGING job with the monumental task she was given). The worst offender by FAR, however, was the newcomer, and I kid you not as I'm writing this I'm realizing I literally forgot her name. That's how little of a mark she left on my memory. All I remember of her is how annoying she was, in EVERY POSSIBLE ASPECT of her character. Annoying speech, bad voice acting (I don't blame the voice actor, she did what she could with the pile of **** she was given), uninspired visual design, awkward animations during cutscenes (seriously she felt like a robot trying to mimick a human, I cringed everytime she was on screen during a cutscene). I just absolutely hated her, and I hated even MORE the part she had in the ending. Like WHY! Anyway, moving on... One last thing about the gameplay. While it IS still a Platinum game, and a Bayonetta game, finishing it didn't leave me with the desire to replay it. Bayo 1 and 2? I LOVED going back and redoing levels in harder difficulties and trying to get higher scores. But in this one? I don't know. Something about the gameplay didn't feel as satisfying as the previous two did. Like, the gameplay in the first two games can stand on its own two legs, but here? Once the novelty of the story is gone, the gameplay feels kinda... I don't know, flat. I think it's mostly because of the removed ability to combo weapons on your arms and legs, and added the OP demon abilities. It made the game lean MUCH heavier on the power fantasy aspect, while taking away from the skill-based part.

Well straight in. New voice actress. Nothing wrong with her at all. Probably better tbh. I don't know who narrated the intro but that was excellent for VG standards. The game. I still feel the WiiU was better graphically than the Switch. Something with the graphics isn't quite right. I just can't pinpoint it. I thought both Bayonetta and Xenoblade just looked better on WiiU. Camera is pretty bad at times. The screen gets so busy and it can be a bit hard getting a good view of the action. The score is fantastic. Great work in the audio department. Generic, yes a little but very good. I'm not very far in and may change the score but this is an issue I'm having more and more with action games. Stop cutting the damn action. I don't want a huge cut scene every 2 minutes. It's like concerts where the singer does a song then talks **** for 10 minutes before the next one. Just get the hell on with the show. So basically watching a lot of cheesy film scenes with a bit of action between. I want to play a game, not watch an OTT cartoon. Looks wise, still standard Bayonetta. Body to die for with the face of a bulldog chewing a wasp.
