Batora: Lost Haven is a competent and mostly enjoyable action game. It has one big idea, the two natures of both Avril and her enemies, but never uses it in any truly unique ways. After a few hours, only the boss battles manage to break up the monotony. The puzzle element of the game is mostly filler. Avril and Mira make a good pair of protagonists but the rest of the narrative is not as exciting. Batora: Lost Haven needs to be more daring with its unique idea when it comes to both combat and puzzles.

Overall, Batora: Lost Haven is a fun game, albeit with a few shortcomings. The dialogue and the cartoonish visuals appeal to a younger audience. Meanwhile, the detailed statistics and complex controls make it feel more mature. Are you a fan of sci-fi action games or isometric action RPGs in general? Then Batora: Lost Haven could be a worthwhile game to sink your teeth into.

I come away from Batora: Lost Haven greatly disappointed. With tedious dialogue, a mediocre narrative, and thin gameplay structure, Batora is only salvaged by its adequate combat, respectable art, and a mercifully short runtime.

I haven't really had the opportunity to write a review on something less than stellar. Until now, that is. Batora: Lost Haven is an indie game that attempts to tell a grand story but doesn't commit enough to make it happen. In the story, you play as Avril, a teenager girl in a post-apocalyptic world. Her name and character alone make me want to start belting out questions like "Why'd ya have to go and make things so complicated!?" but that really wouldn't fit in with the narrative here. If anything... the game is the opposite of complicated. Now that my Lavigne reference is done, I should note that the game's Avril comes along with all the angst that could be expected of her, but that's not necessarily true all the time. Her mood swings have her enter into philosophical moments where she comes across as more wise than what we had seen just five minutes prior. This kind of bipolar nature actually goes well with the rest of the game, although I suspect it's unintentional. For the rest of this review and others, visit WordsmithsAnvil . com

This game is a bit of a joke, it is very half-baked and really feels quite unnecessary to have been developed in the first place. It tries to do it's own thing and it falls flat on it's face in my opinion, there's really nothing special or particurarly exciting here. It feels like an indie from another era, it is so outdated in every single way and I am not quite sure where the developers were even going with this game. Just so linear progression with repetitive combat, just so much of unnecessary boring dialogue, pretty stupid and annoying puzzles. The graphics are alright but the design is quite unremarkable. There's just so many indie games these days that simply found a formula that is unique, interesting and fun and this game is really not that at all. A very mediocre game, people who are giving this a 10 maybe they didn't even a play another game in their entire life.

Batora: Lost Haven is both a hack n' slash and a twin stick shooter, depending on the enemies we have to face, and very often it is both genres mixed together. The main component of the game is the fighting system forcing you to frantically switch combat modes, but there is also an exciting story to follow, with charismatic partners and some moral choices that affect both plot development and character growth. A great isometric action RPG, with awesome boss battles and multiple endings to increase its longevity.

From the very first hours the game manages to catch you thanks to its well-written history. You can see the team's commitment to making it happen, it's a lot of fun to play and has some interesting mechanics. I personally like the graphic style very much, for the price at which it is sold it is absolutely worth it

Batora: Lost Haven's biggest strength is that it is full of passion. Some of it's ideas, particularly with the story, fizzle out and are lost in the dark. Others, like the inventive combat and fleshed out worlds, are a joy to see and are beacons of light. It isn't for everyone but if it's for you and you meet the game with the right expectations, there is no doubt that you will have a good time.

Batora: Lost Haven is a mix of a lot of different ideas, some of which work well, others which don’t. The grand scope of its planet-hopping setting is impressive, but the moral choice aspects and supporting cast feel underdeveloped and shallow. The Nature-switching combat and puzzles also show promise. However, the limited combat options, and puzzles that make use of only a small number of your abilities, cause the experience to become repetitive before its brisk playtime is through. Despite these issues, Batora: Lost Haven is a unique and decent enough experience for sci-fi and action-RPG fans to consider checking it out.

The art style of this game is stunning and the story is touching. Also the gameplay is dynamic and brilliant, whereas boss battles are very hard.
