This genuinely has one of the best written characters in the entire series as its protagonist and while there is sailing that's fine due to it being fun the real problem is that none of the locations are memorable and are kind of boring to explore besides maybe sleepy hollow, and that is only due to how many pumpkins are around due to it referencing the Headless Horseman and even then your barely there

Assassin's Creed Rogue is definetly an underrated title. Though it's still not amazing. Rogue is pretty much an exact copy of Black Flag in everything except story map and characters. Every hud element is identical, the parkour feels identical and so does the combat. The story was alright, i liked the beginning, the Lisbon part and the consequences which follows the Lisbon part and also the ending. In between that it's pretty much boring dialogue. I liked the different types of tools you get such as the grenade launcher, dartgun and rope darts. The graphics hold up fairly well with nothing to complain about and parkour feels great. I hated all the naval gameplay in this game. The whole game is literally sail here then sail to the other part of the map and then back again. I definetly liked this game, and although a 7 seems low it's not. A 7 is between 50/50 and perfect. Which is exactly what this game is.

A perfectly serviceable Assassin's Creed game with an interesting story, but some gameplay jank that holds it back from greatness. I wish there would have been less naval battles, and more polish towards the parkour and melee combat.

One of my personal favorites! Unique store that appears nowhere else in the series. It shows us templar's side. Allows us to see how templars are not necessarily the bad ones. That combined with basically ACIV's world and also a big city? What is there to ask more of? Also connects the "New World" era (ACIII, AC IV & AC Rogue) with the next game (AC Unity). I cannot believe at the game's low score, it breaks my heart. Hidden gem. Would recommend!

I got the game in 2025 and played it on PS5 Pro. There were no issues with compatability. The gamecontent is for about 15 to 30 hours good, going for 100% might take over 35 hours. With story completed an a bunch of upgrading the ship, I spent 19 hours for around 55% completion. Most outstanding part of the game is definetively its idea to play as a templar. Though I also like its general other ideas, as for upgrading buildings, slight changes to ship combat compared to AC IV and a few more could have made the game one of the best in the franchise. As it is the remaster, I expected more polishing and specifically better graphics compared to the non remaster. On a 4k OLED screen, I did not encouter anything terrible in visual quality, for its time, the graphics are all right. A negative is the quality features in terms of missing bug fixing, as characters and objects occasionally slipped though other textures. Especially in a remaster, this is unexpected and no good. The story progresses consistently but rather quickly, it should have gotten more depth but its not a major part to criticize. The goals and targets of missions are clear and easy to follow. The amount of updates after reading the disk is less than a GB, which I do wonder about, as there were probably a lot of things to fix from first release. Buying the game in 2025 for 15€ and having fun playing it without any real expectations, I recommend giving it a chance. Especially if you liked AC IV in general and want something new in its kind of gameplay.

I started playing this game for free through PS Plus and went in with low expectations—and overall, I think that’s the best way to approach it. It’s an okay game, but definitely not one I’d call memorable unless you're a hardcore Assassin’s Creed fan. What really frustrated me, though, was the Platinum trophy. I’m not a die-hard completionist, but if a trophy list is straightforward and reasonable, I’ll go for it. Rogue, however, was anything but.I had a conversation with a friend where I complained about Ubisoft’s tendency to fill their maps with hundreds of collectibles and activities, most of which don’t feel meaningful. He argued that you can just skip all that and enjoy the game. At the time, I agreed. But after playing Rogue, I realized he was wrong. Here’s why: In my opinion, the best collectibles are the ones that contribute to gameplay—like the shards in Infamous Second Son, which give you Skill Points. That makes the grind feel purposeful. In Rogue, however, many collectibles (like the 200 fragments) are completely useless. They don’t enhance gameplay or progression—you just collect them for the sake of a trophy. That’s bad design.Even if you try to ignore the unnecessary collectibles and just focus on the main game, the grind is still there—especially when you need to upgrade your ship to handle missions properly. So whether it’s collectibles or gear upgrades, you’re grinding either way, which really wears you **** would be so much better if the number of collectibles and trophies matched the scope of the story. For a game with around 10 hours of story, you shouldn’t have 300 collectibles scattered across the map. I even showed my friend the New York map, and he was shocked by how bloated it looked. He mentioned AC Shadows seems to have improved this, but Valhalla is still grindy, so I’m definitely skipping the Platinum there.Aside from ship upgrades, there’s little sense of personal progression for Shay, and the combat is ridiculously easy. It’s almost like the game expects you to pad your time with collectibles instead of offering real challenge or **** me, earning a Platinum trophy is a way to pay respect to the developers and their game. But when a game treats your time with this little care, it feels like that respect isn’t mutual—and that really pisses me off.

One of the most surprising Asassins creed I ever played. One because of the story, and another because it keeps the great atmosphere for a game developed in less than than a year.

Assassin's Creed Rogue is just a refined version of Black Flag. That is a good thing as the amazing gameplay makes its way over. But it also makes the game more stale as it feels like a DLC more than it's own game. The story is a new take and for the most part enjoyable. It's shorter and has some laughable writing at parts but all in all it's actually quite refreshing to have a game that isn't just "Assassin's good, Templar's bad" The map(s) of the game are full of beautiful locations and I'll never forget the cozy river valley. It's just so calming exploring locations there. Unfortunately there is barely any side content aside from collectibles that limit the exploration from reaching it's full potential. Overall it's not an amazing game but it's not bad either. Overshadowed by it's broken twin, Rogue is often forgotten about but it's worth the play. And it actually works bug free

It's just a short Assassin's Creed experience, which is still nice. The gameplay is what you expect, and there is a large place to explore with your ship, though I didn't engage with it. The story had potential to be great, an assassin turned templar could have been great. It just ends up being nothing special. In the end it's a short, fun Assassin's Creed game and that's fine.

Very underrated entry in the AC franchise. The gameplay is just a slight evolution on Black Flag with great naval combat, and parkour/land combat that is much like the two previous games. The story though is often just written off as a "the one with the templar", where in fact it does an amazing job of both bridging the events of AC III and AC IV, tying up the loose ends in those stories, but also does a brilliant job in setting the scene for AC Unity. It really is the glue that ties those three other games together.

I have played this game so much on PS3 that it was a no brainer when Remastered version came out on PS4. I have completed the main store about 4 or 6 times now and keep coming back maybe once a year. I rate this part of the series as my favourite overall ranking even higher than AC4 Black Flag and AC2. The only issue that I have found and the only reason I can’t give this game a 10 is lack of things to spend money on in the end game. Sure, the high end ship upgrades are expensive but the rewards for naval campaigns are also ridiculously large and I find myself with millions of pounds in bank without any way to spend them. Rather then that the game is outstanding for it’s time it has been an amazing experience and coming back to it now it still feels like a great game despite old mechanics and clunky controls.

I really liked it as a game, too bad it uses the same mechanics as AC Black Flag, but other than that the story isn't bad, even though it wasn't very long I liked the story a lot

This game has a more unique story, though with repeating missions made it easy, like all the past games before it, mostly 4. It's an overall fun game compared to 4, and it's just under rated.

The truth is that I hadn't played an Assasin's Creed game for a long time, due to the amount of games that have been released in this saga, but I decided to try this one because it wasn't very long, and the truth is that it surprised me for the good, interesting story, the possibility of handling ships, the controls are quite fluid, in short, it's a good game.

I skipped this one back then, mainly because of all the collectibles at the beginning. But the game gets better, it's a real AC. The remastering is pretty good. Well, better than the 3. Then again, the 3 and the 4 games were based on the worst engine in the series. The main games had some redeeming qualities, especially black flag, which remains my favourite. But really, no point playing those now, playability is awful

This is one of the best title of this saga because this game take all gameplay mechanics of Assasin's Creed 3 and Black Flag and improve **** fantastic thing about this game is that we can finally see the other side of the coin. This game is a must play for Assassin's Creed fan P.S.(I played both version of the game XBOX and PS4/PS3)

Pros - the gameplay is identical to Black Flag which is fantastic - Shay is an interesting character - templars finally get their chance to prove that they are not one dimensional bad guys - the tie in between Black Flag and Unity is a nice thing to see Cons - as soon as the story gets interesting the game ends - the modern gameplay from Black Flag is back unfortunately and it is as boring as ever Rogue feels like a shorter Black Flag. Which is by far not a bad thing since Black Flag was amazing though this also means that the game does not stand out gameplay wise. Where the game does stand out is in its story. Shay Patrick Cormac allows us to view the Assassin brotherhood from the perspective of someone, for whom the ends do not justify the means. Seeing the usual villains of the AC series from inside is a wonderful vehicle for them to show us that they are not mindless slobbering monsters. Unfortunately, while the story is overall satisfying, when it ends, it feels like it did not squeeze as much as it could out of its premise. Don't get me wrong, the ending tie in is cool but the issue is a lot of characters don't get enough screen time to be as interesting as they could be. Overall, the game offers a compact experience that I personally think would benefit from being a bit longer. A good palate cleanser between two your other games.

i enjoyed being a templar and the whole being introduced into the brotherhood is the coolest part of the game. Honestly it is just a black flag DLC so if yo like that you will be fine with this. Icannot tell you a single thing that happens in the story because it is super forgettable and im sure i was forcing myself to play through the game because it was so boring. Gameplay is fun? im not sure, i dont care. Black Flag is a better game than this in every way

This game is so underrated It has an amazing twist of a story, amazing gameplay design, amazing characters, and i had lots of fun playing this with friends. Yes, this game is a bit short, but i would prefer to have short good content than a long game with bad content. And this game was worth my time :)

Probably the most underrated game of the franchise brought to 4K graphics.Despite all the work put into remastering it,the game still has its problems, with which I am going to start the review. First of all, there are the incredibly annoying bugs and glitches that occur while playing.A short example can be the main character just getting stuck,or enemies who do not die on the minimap, which can be annoying.I have also encountered sound issues,as well as issues regarding jumping, which can be a real pain sometimes, when the character chooses to jump somewhere else then you wanted.Weapons and especially gheir effects can be a little buggy also. Regarding non-tehnical problems, the game suffers a lot from the lack of **** story can be finished within a playing day.Afterwards, you are left to do a lot of going back'n forth along a million of bland, boring islands.Classic Ubisoft open **** it is not radio towers it has to be view-points,so,except for some collectibles,2 type of missions you can encounter, some random events,a couple of legendary sea battles and a lot of exploring and capturing settlements there is nothing else to **** mechanics are simple, and become repetitive and boring after a while, some time after the story.Personally,I would have liked more variety in regards of activities while at the helm, the addition of chainshots and maybe a set of missions which you can actually participate in,as in the sevsn years war in Shay's Fleet. Although the game has some weak spots,it still remains essentially one of the best AC's out there, and you will not regret trying **** get to see the world from the perspective of a templar, and fight assassins alongside a well-known and loved character in the series.Although short, the story is really strong and well made.Another strong point is represented by the ability to experience a non-tealthy approach,as you are playing a templar.Graphics are also important, giving the game a very good vibe, the world itself, especially the Artic region is gorgeous. Although I reccomend you playing this,be warned,it is far from perfect,so try not to compare it to Valhalla or Origins. Also, personally,I would not buy this game for more than 10€.

After Ezio, Shay is the most interesting and complicated character. On top of that the very first Templar Knight we get to know, understand and enjoy. AC Rogue will always be the second best entry in the entire series (after Ezio's story) for me personally. Already finished 2 times on pc and planning to buy and get the platinum on this remastered edition for my ps4 and my entire AC collection. Hope (but not expect) to see more consistent and well written story that is not black and white as this one.

This game went totally under my radar as during it's release I bought and enjoyed A.C Unity (after tons of patches) Rogue it's a very formulaic A.C, massively recycling assets of Black Flag regarding naval fights and combat but offering an interesting history as you play as a Templar. The nature and landscapes of North Atlantic are harder and wilder fitting the nature of the main character. Story wise is quite good but short. Thank God the present sequences are even shorter where you act as technician fixing some servers while solving some puzzles. Apart for the main story the most interesting part is upgrading the Morrigan and conquering the different territories on the map, filled with a ton of collectibles. The "remaster" itself it's kind of disappointing, it does not reach the 60fps even in PS4 Pro and has some of the bugs regarding trophies that the original had, so 0 effort on this side by Ubi.

In 2014 Ubisoft released two AC games at the same time: Rogue and Unity. Unity would be the 'Next-gen' entry, and Rogue was released on PS3 and Xbox 360. Having played the Remastered version on PS4 i can say this is clearly a sequel to Black Flag. In fact, i think it is a more refined sequel that is superior to Black flag. Story: Ever since Assassins Creed Ubisoft had been **** up the story of the Assassins Creed franchise, and i don't consider Rogue to be an improvement regarding that issue. However, we finally explore the Templar side by becoming one. There are many more side objectives like clearing gangs, renovating buildings, defeating the French and fighting Assassins. These elements make for a nice change. Gameplay: Holy damn, Rogue is definitely much better than Black Flag. The enemy has actually become more dangerous. Assassins have agents hiding all over the world, and your assassin senses start whispering to you when they are close. Hunt then down, or they will assassinate you! Very fun. Naval enemies have more abilities too! Ships can board you by ramming into you, killing many of your crew members and forcing you to defend your ship. The crew is in actual danger, and it increases the immersion of see battles. This game is located in North America, and has a cold climate. Random icebergs drift at sea, and blizzards can obscure your vision. Mix this with unforseen naval battles and you got yourself an epic blizzard battle! Then there are the obligatory hundreds of collectibles -_- the map is over saturated with uninteresting collectibles and mini-games. If these would unlock mysteries like the paintings in Assassins Creed II it could have been worth it. But it is just another choir to increase the playtime. Straight up boring. Graphics: Honestly, it looks great. Nothing more to say about it. Technical state: Surprisingly stable by Ubisoft standards. There were a few gamebreaking bugs that prevented me from progressing in missions though this was resolved by reloading the checkpoint. Combat feels more refined than Black Flag, but on ships the camera is still limiting your view. Verdict: I'm having a great time playing this, though that is because i don't collect pointless collectibles and I'm not trying to reach 100% completion. If i would, i'd probably become sick and tired. I give the game an 8/10. It's an excellent game.

One of the most underrated Assassin's Creed title entries. What makes it stand out is an engaging plot developed around the rise of a Templar and his moral compass. This new perspective adds a fresh gameplay element of having Assassins trying to, well..., assassinating the protagonist. Also, there is no much present-day plot development, which is always a plus for me. Apart from this, the gameplay is your usual one and the world can be exemplified by a standard ubisoftified map, with plenty of somewhat meaningless collectables scattered around.

Was a good change playing as a Templar for once and I don’t understand the negative reviews. The game was a copy of Black Flag with a different storyline. Ubisoft could’ve improved on the storyline but apart from that, was an enjoyable game and I would plat it again. The optional objectives per mission were also very easy to accomplish.

Really liked the concept of this game and it really feels like an Assassin's creed game. Had quite a lot of fun with the story as I thought of it to be interesting, but still has the problem of becoming repetitive in some areas. Aside from that, it's quite a good game.
