With the addition of a fun multiplayer mode and some clever challenges to keep a player coming back, this could have been something special, though sadly it ends up a simple game with solid mechanics but little replay value.

Less chaotic than real cleaning, but that's actually a good thing for once. [June 2013, p.84]

Arena blaster fans will thoroughly enjoy Alien Chaos 3D, especially if they have a (strange) predilection for cleaning up their mess afterwards.

Not a terrible game, but not good either. It's a total bullet hell, and that isn't a compliment. This game, though it gets many things right, severely fails in other areas. The game starts off easy, like most shooters, and then gets insanely difficult. It feels like they were trying to expand gaming hours by making this game insanely difficult. That was a mistake. One big problem is the enemies are bullet sponges, and take way too many bullets to kill. Where are the enemies that die in one or two shots? Another problem is the enemies barely react to being shot. They get bumped back a little but keep marching forward, whereas your character gets totally screwed when touched, and has this big, dramatic reaction. It feels unfair. Another thing I didn't like is the enemies seem to keep piling on. It feels like there is no limitation to how many enemies are on screen, and this stinks because the levels are tiny. You're pretty much in a room in each level, and there is no way to dodge. You get hit because all of the enemies are so close together, and you can't hop over them to safe ground. Though I found some of the ideas interesting, they were a chore with intense gameplay. I don't want to clean walls, and kick bullets into into holes to get rewarded. I don't want to be Danny Tanner, cleaning up a mess. That gets tiresome very fast. A good shooter is streamlined, organized, and rewards cleverness as well as fast response times to danger. This is a mindless, messy, shooting game.

I really enjoyed this little title, cheap and a lot of value for your money. Really really tough but extremely rewarding once beat a stage that you have been spending so long to beat. Highly recommended for what it actually costs! You can't go wrong on this one

This game rocks so hard! The action is quick, furious and all the time the controls are tight. The sound effects are great, the guns sound really good. The story is wacky. I'm just having so much fun with this, I just keep returning to levels i already have played just to shoot some more aliens.

Alien Chaos 3D is a worthy addition to the Nintendo 3DS eShop roster. It's a retro-inspired adventure, high on action and pulls at the nostalgia strings. Worth considering at the price, but leaves little replay value unless you are keen on investing time in getting those high scores.

Unfortunately, the game's limited modes and the absence of multiplayer result in an experience that is lacking in replay value. Nevertheless, it's a valiant effort from Ludosity and well worth your money if you're looking for a solid pick-up-and-play title to indulge in every now and again.
