Not a terrible game, but not good either. It's a total bullet hell, and that isn't a compliment. This game, though it gets many things right, severely fails in other areas. The game starts off easy, like most shooters, and then gets insanely difficult. It feels like they were trying to expand gaming hours by making this game insanely difficult. That was a mistake. One big problem is the enemies are bullet sponges, and take way too many bullets to kill. Where are the enemies that die in one or two shots? Another problem is the enemies barely react to being shot. They get bumped back a little but keep marching forward, whereas your character gets totally screwed when touched, and has this big, dramatic reaction. It feels unfair. Another thing I didn't like is the enemies seem to keep piling on. It feels like there is no limitation to how many enemies are on screen, and this stinks because the levels are tiny. You're pretty much in a room in each level, and there is no way to dodge. You get hit because all of the enemies are so close together, and you can't hop over them to safe ground. Though I found some of the ideas interesting, they were a chore with intense gameplay. I don't want to clean walls, and kick bullets into into holes to get rewarded. I don't want to be Danny Tanner, cleaning up a mess. That gets tiresome very fast. A good shooter is streamlined, organized, and rewards cleverness as well as fast response times to danger. This is a mindless, messy, shooting game.

This is a fun point and click, horror, adventure game. It's not perfect, but it does the job. It scares you every now, and again, and puts you on the edge of your seat. The artwork is nice, and the 3D graphics are cool, too. If you're a fan of Goosebumps you will very likely enjoy this game. My only complaint is the 3DS version is a tad dark (but you can still play the game), and sometimes it gets a little confusing. For example, I didn't know I could combine items, until someone told me. It got me stuck for a while. Other than that, this is a well made game. Depending on how quick-witted you are this will be a 2 to 3 hour experience. Pick it up, if the price is right.

Not too fun, because of poor design decisions. THE GOOD: - This is a beautiful game. One of the best you'll see on the 3DS. - No water levels! - The bonus levels are fun. - I enjoyed the dioramas, and art gallery, although it's rather difficult to unlock everything. - The cartoons were nice. - This game's hard to play, so the super guide is helpful. - I like going into Cranky Kong's shop, and buying items to help me out. You need this! - To me the game is a mixed bag, but when I enjoyed myself, I enjoyed myself. The best levels were reminiscent of the older Donkey Kong Country games. THE BAD - Not as good as other Donkey Kong Country games. - Even though Donkey Kong has a rich history what you can do in these games is limited. - The only animal you get to use in this game is the rhino, and you don't get to use him much. But riding the rhino is really fun! I wanted to use more animals! - You can't play as Diddy Kong. Only when you're in two player mode, which requires a second 3DS, and extra copy of the game. - The controls are odd. Control scheme one only allows you to use the circle pad, and the second only the d-pad, but it moves around the buttons on the right. - Donkey Kong feels so fat, and slow. He is not very responsive, and doesn't jump high. He isn't agile. - To get through this game you need to have Diddy Kong on your back, but he doesn't stay with you. He is constantly disappearing, and you lose him. - So many cheap deaths. There is a lot of falling, and one hit deaths. This is how this game creates replay value. Not through extra content, but making you play certain levels a dozen, or several dozen times. - You need precision timing to beat this game, but the 3DS controls don't help. They should have modified the game with the 3DS' controller in mind. There needed to be more forgiveness. The circle pad ****, and it doesn't feel right with the d-pad. - A lot of times you have to spring off the enemies, but the window of time you can do it in is so tight that often you miss. Not a huge problem though. - When you roll to knock away enemies, you can't keep rolling like Sonic the Hedgehog. You get abruptly stopped, and then lose a heart from getting hit. You don't get to keep you momentum. Lame. - When you collide into a wall for the first time you think that you can jump off walls, but nope. Donkey Kong just falls straight down. He's so fat, and stupid. - There are so many mine cart levels, but they aren't that fun. Jumping off, or with carts, with perfect timing isn't my idea of fun. It feels punitive, because one hit, or one mistake, you have to start all over again. Though to be fair there is a potion you can use to make this task easier. - The barrel rocket levels are **** again not fun. I think they really wanted to make one button levels, but it just doesn't feel right. It feels like there's a lot of luck involved, even though that isn't true. - At times you need a magnifying glass to know what is happening in the game. This game definitely belongs on a big TV screen. By the way, I played this on a New Nintendo 3DS XL. - I didn't like how the health meter was in the top left of the upper screen. There should've been an option to move it down to let you see better. - I'm a fan of 3D, but this game didn't really pop out. It felt somewhat flat (compared to other 3DS games). This is me nit-picking though. - I was disappointed in the mirror mode. I thought you would get to play the levels backwards, doing the last parts first, and the first parts last. Nope. It's literally just mirrored. You do everything the same, but you go right to left instead of left to right, and it's way more difficult because you have one less heart, no Diddy Kong, and no extras. - I didn't like how hard it was to unlock all the extras. When you 101% the game you don't unlock all the extras. Nope. You have to 200% it, and you're forced to play the game again, but in mirror mode. Unlocking all the extras is extremely convoluted. You have to do so many different things with no clue as to how you should do it. CONCLUSION: Not really a bad game, but not a great game either.

1st Impression: This game is fun! It's like a mini version of modern Batman games. You have this cool (but silly) story being told via comic art in the Batman universe, and then you go around kicking butt, solving puzzles, and sneaking about in a creepy, underground setting. What more do you want? Though I can see why some didn't like it. One, the combat system is a bit complex. Two, sometimes you get stuck, because you don't know what to do, and as a player you are over-reliant on your detective vision. Meaning, you have to scan the area before you can progress. Also, yeah, the story's not too deep, or complex, but it works. The art, and music is rad though. Overall, I find the game is well constructed. It uses almost all the capabilities of the 3DS to immerse you in Batman's universe. It's "2.5D" meaning it doesn't feel flat. It has an open-world feel, and you change angles a lot, and get to see in different perspectives. Sometimes you crawl through air-shafts, and you are put in a first person view. Other times, you are perched on a ledge, looking down at your attackers. And they have slow motion, dramatic camera footage for when you finish beating up the final bad guy in a scene. Another thing they have is hacking, and while it isn't deep, it adds a bit of fun by letting you use the system's motion-sensor. You can level up too, find secret areas, collect new weapons, and meet all the baddies you'd expect to see in the Batman-verse. Off the top my head, there's the Penguin, the Joker, and the luscious Catwoman. Though technically this isn't as huge as the "regular" Batman games there's much to enjoy. All the little touches make this fun. And by the way the 3D looks great. Criticisms: After playing this game a lot more, I can see this game has problems. - Spikes = Annoying! - There's a bug when you rescue the Warden. You go into the bathroom, and try to open the door, the game freezes. This doesn't break the game though. You can return to your last checkpoint, and do it again. - In the south-east industrial area, you climb up to this secret area, and drop down, and the game freezes. - 3rd bug. If you return to where you already rescued the hostages it counts down again, and since there's nobody to rescue, you die. - You do these weird tasks but get no reward. I exploded all of Joker's chattering teeth, and got nothing. - Some slowdown in game, and slow but bearable loading times. - When you're playing the game you can't adjust the map on the touch screen to zoom in, and out, or move it around. Why? There's also no active compass to tell you where to go. - We have no quick travel feature to exit to go onto the next mission. You have to do a lot of backtracking, which isn't enjoyable at all. I don't wanna run around for 20 minutes. - Levels are barren, and boring after you've killed the enemies. The enemies should reappear after a certain amount of time, and should be weaker, too, just so people don't feel frustrated having to fight enemies again, but this would also give them something to do. - More baddies wouldn't have hurt actually. If it was my choice, I would've added in some weaker enemies just for Batman to beat up for fun. Guys you can knock out with 1 or 2 hits. - Upgrading is such a chore. It takes too long to upgrade. The game designers have used upgrades as a way to stretch out gameplay, and make gamers explore. I don't think it's a great idea. It shouldn't this hard to upgrade. If you wanna stretch out gameplay, and make players explore, then have something else they can collect but ignore if they want. Maybe if you collect enough of "X" item you will get artwork, and videos to watch, etc. Or maybe you can change the look of your costume. - The upgrade system should be like in RPGs. The more baddies you beat up the higher your level goes. - The weapons you have should do more. Why can't I hit enemies with my Batarang? Why can't I stun them with the explosive gel? How about using the Batclaw to pull in enemies, and throw them? - It would be nice if there was a stronger stealth element to this game. One idea I thought of, using the Batarang to knock out the lights, leaving the enemies in the dark. Then you can turn on your "night vision" and take them out when they're stumbling around in the darkness. - When Batman jumps he almost always struggles. 99% of the time he barely makes it, and has to hang onto a ledge, and pull himself up. He's Batman. C'mon. - Sometimes Catwoman gives Batman advice, but we can't listen to it again. Why not? Or am I mistaken? - A few more boss battles would've been nice. It didn't feel like there were many bosses. - Letting us replay the game as other characters would've been cool. How about playing as Catwoman? - I didn't like the anticlimactic ending. And that's all I have to say! This is still a fun game!

If you're a puzzles fan you will enjoy "Nikoli's Pencil Puzzle." It's not a fancy video game, but it is competent in what it does. You have four different types of puzzles to play: Sudoku, bridges, boxes, and museum. Sudoku - You know what this is. You make an arrangement of numbers, but so that none of them intersect with one another. Bridges - You have these "islands" with numbers on them, and you have to connect all the islands together, but you have to build a certain amount of bridges based on the numbers provided. Boxes - Another grid game. You have all these numbers on a grid, and you have to make boxes around the numbers. So, if it's "4" then you have to put four boxes around it, or connecting to it. Museum - Usig light bulbs, represented by green circles on a grid, you have to place light bulbs beside these numbers, and that creates light, and you have to fill the entire grid with light. Though these games sound a bit confusing the tutorial is well done, and will clear up any confusion. It's not perfect, but you can figure it out with gameplay. Also, this game is in 3D! The bottom screen is where the puzzle takes place, and is in 2D, but the top screen features graphics for each type of puzzle. Sudoku shows you pyramids. Bridges shows you the characters from Bomberman, who are on islands. Boxes has the Tron motorcycles. And museums is in a museum with what I can only describe as a blond dwarf. It's not much to look at, to be honest, but it does add to the game, and makes it more enjoyable. If you don't like these graphics you can switch them to something more plain, which will be a display of the puzzle, and a timer. You can blow on the mic to make it go from puzzle to timer, and vice-versa. And that's about it. This is pretty much a collection of puzzles. If you like puzzles you'll like this. If you don't, well, it's not for you.

This is my second review of Far Cry 2. OK. What's the point of reviewing such an old game? I don't know. But I've been playing it recently, and plugged in a lot of time, and I find this to be a really bad video game. I hate criticizing art, but this is not an enjoyable game. First person shooter games should be fun. This is not. 1 - IT'S EXTREMELY REPETITIVE. Even on easy mode you will keep dying, and dying. You have to cheat to keep yourself alive. They make it so you have to keep doing things over, and over again. There is no rest, or safe spots. The enemies just keep coming at you, and following you around. 2 - WHY DO I HAVE INCURABLE MALARIA? They keep sending you on malaria medicine missions. You don't just get the malaria pills once, or twice, and that's it. You are constantly sick, and have to keep finding malaria pills. This is just stupid. 3 - YOUR CHARACTER IS A WEAKLING. I can literally run further in real life. Your character gets winded so easily in a few seconds. What's the point of running if you can't run? I can't run! 4 - TRAVELING IS A PAIN. There is no fast travel. You can get in cars, but guess what? There are obstacles constantly in your way. Enemies will appear from nowhere, and shoot your vehicle, and then it will break down. And you have to kill everyone, and do repairs. Or your car will explode. Getting anywhere is a huge pain. 5 - YOU GET STUCK. Because of the messy terrain there are so many parts where you get stuck. Your vehicle gets stuck, you get stuck, something gets stuck. This should not be the case. I shouldn't get jammed up because a small rock is in my way. The character ideally should walk over these without any trouble. But that isn't the case. 5 - DUMB MAP SYSTEM. You have to constantly pull up your map, and it goes in, and out, and gets in your view. Why not have a little map in the corner? Or a compass? I don't know, something that doesn't block your way all the time would be great. And if you're going to have the map, why does half of it disappear when I'm running? That's when I want to see the map. Anyway, the map system just ****. 6 - DUMB QUEST SYSTEM. Again with the repetition. Any time I want a new mission I have to travel so far. Go here, and go there to be granted missions. Why can't I just go to someone, and get a bunch of missions? Each time I have to refresh. 7 - LACKLUSTER CONTROLS - Some things should be automatic, or a button click should lead to the next thing. The controls while not the worst just aren't great. For example, when I'm holding the map, if I click my 'fire' button nothing happens. I stay in map mode, until I click the map button. When you're being shot at having to do this is not so great! How about when I'm at a door? I have press the 'E' button. Just let me press the left mouse button to get in. A hand appears letting me know what I can do, so it should switch over. Less buttons, and redundant clicking would be better. 8 - UGLY SETTING. The world is ugly, and plain. There's not much to look at it. Everywhere looks the same. It's just endless garbage. 9 - MEDIOCRE STORY TELLING. You're a mercenary, or something like that, and you go around killing people for acts of revenge, or to stop one of the factions from getting ahead. That's pretty much the deepest you'll get as far as story is concerned. 10 - STOP WITH THE GUN JAMMING. In real life weapons don't jam this easily. And if my guns must jam, then let me keep clicking the left mouse button to un-jam it. Why make me press another button? 11 - THERE ARE NO 'BOSS BATTLES.' It's just one mission to the next, with no graduation, or leaps. You know, a video game should be like a roller coaster, working its way up, and then at the top you have the exciting part next (i.e. the race down). 12 - CRAP ACCURACY - When you shoot it's like what's going on? Even if you're fairly on point, unless you zoom, you keep missing, and these guys just don't die. 13 - CRAP AI - I can't sneak around, or do anything right. They always know where I am, and they all come out of the woodwork right away. They shoot for no reason. How do they know who I am each time, and my precise location? 14 - WHERE'S THE MUSIC? There's barely any music. The mood is flat for almost the whole game. Give us the option of music, even if it's not that great. 15 - THE EASY MODE IS NOT EASY. Why does this exist? Easy Mode is still hard a.f. Fini.

This is a pretty fun game! There's a small learning curve to it, but once you get the controls down it's plenty of fun. It's very much like a normal platform game, but it offers unique game play. Basically, you're this little robot, and you have to use an extension cord as a weapon. It acts like a whip, and it allows you to progress through all the levels. You can do crazy moves, and get power ups, and collect coins, and fight baddies. However, it's not all action. There's also a small puzzle element to this game that makes it more challenging. If you're into casual games this will be something you'll like. However! There is one annoying feature that I just don't understand. What's with the spinning wheel that randomly places you in levels? I want to make progress. I don't want to do levels that I've already done. You know, I think this is what made people not like this game. It's a small "feature" but is a real nuisance.

It's a very fun title, Especially if you, uh, like murdering people. However, where this game is held back is in its story telling. The story is basic, and to be frank rather weak. First question, what is this game? It's a game where you do interior design with cute little animals, and various other creatures. You have to choose furniture, and decorations for them to get their customer satisfaction. This is not like The Sims whatsoever. You're not truly designing homes, and you're not doing much of interacting with anyone. It's extremely bare bones, and seems like only ****. For example, most of the places you decorate have a maximum of two rooms, and one level. It's like a game about micro apartments! While I didn't find this game to be bad it isn't good either. I would say that the price I paid wasn't worth it. This seems like a $10 game that you pick up from a bargain bin. There just isn't much to do. You're just placing down furniture, and rearranging rooms. You can't even interact with objects, or build relationships, or do any of the things you can do in some popular life simulation games. There are few challenges in Happy Home Designer. The only real positives I saw in game were the controls, and the cute designs of the characters, and world. Visually, yes, it's appealing. But this title really, really lacks depth. If they ever want to make a sequel they need to take a page out of their landmark titles. It should be open world. You should be able to interact with objects, and people, and form relationships. You should be able to make homes, and do much more than interior designing. There should be mini games, and side quests, and an overarching goal.

It's a challenging but not extremely difficult game. It's a fun, casual play. However, there are a few problems with this title. They are not deal breakers, just minor flaws. One thing is there isn't a lot of variety. Instead this game sticks to what it knows, and does it very well. Lastly, the game is a tad short. You'll be able to finish it up pretty quickly. I gave this game a 7. But it is a strong 7, and I enjoyed this game. It's good fun. A casual title, but it's interesting seeing how your characters are growing, and changing, and interacting with each other. I especially like how they all talk to you through their electronic voices. However, the game does have minor problems. Since the game is so simplified it can be limited at times. There isn't always a lot to do, but there's enough to be entertaining. My main criticism of this game is that I feel there wasn't enough for the price. Yes. The characters have apartments, which you can change, but you cannot custom design homes, and arrange furnitures like in 'The Sims.' Should every life simulator game try copying The Sims? No, but in this case it would have been appropriate. It would have added a greater depth to something already enjoyable. Also, the choice of faces, and body characteristics were limited. Sure, it seems like there's enough at first, but then you quickly realize only a few things are suitable. For a sequel they will need to expand the options. Third, not much of a story line. It's not to say there has to be something complex, but each character should have a goal, or a life dream. Maybe they could try to become a doctor, or teacher, or artist, and so on. It would give you something to work towards. As for the rest of the game, ignoring some minor flaws, I think we have a very nice title here. I enjoy the concept, and all the little touches. Giving your characters food, and toys, and seeing what they're up to is much more interesting than it sounds.

Welp... It's a collection of crossword puzzles. There's not much more to it than that. It's a fun, casual game. However, there are a few minor problems with this title. 1. Sometimes it doesn't recognize your writing. But it is not such a big deal that you'd abandon the game. Just use uppercase letters, and take a bit of care in your writing. (I have pretty bad handwriting by the way.) 2. Navigating through the crossword puzzles is not as slick as it could have been. It doesn't automatically move you to the boxes where you need to be, except if it's left to right. You have to use arrows to move about. You'll get used to it though. 3. The music is generic, and not pleasurable to listen to. It isn't bad. It just doesn't move you. A game like this needs really great music. 4. Not much in the way of 3D. It's extremely minimal. The presentation is plain. Some more 3D effects, and visual creativity to this game would've made it more exciting. 5. The rating system is confusing. You get rankings like 'well done' and 'excellent.' Why not stick to a star system? 1 to 5 stars, or 1 to 3? The compliments they give when you complete a puzzle are nice, but rather vague. In conclusion: If you like crosswords, and you can get this for a fair price, then pick it up. It's worth around $10 or so.

The idea of this game is really cool. When you first play this title everything works, and it is very exciting, using all the features of the 3DS. But all together this is broken. For example, there's a point where you have to fight a hand spirit, or something like that, and you cannot even proceed forward! I got stuck! Add to this the fact that it is extremely awkward to hold a book flat, and a full sized 3DS at the same time, and you have something that just isn't fun to play. Again, the idea of this game is really cool, and it looks promising, but in the end it doesn't deliver. It's extremely disappointing that this title, due to technical limitations I suppose, could not work right. There really was something there. It was a lot of fun being brought into this world of horror, but then you find yourself frustrated, and you hit a road block. I wish this could've been a 10, but it isn't. You'll get 15 to 20 minutes play time, and then that's it. A real shame. Maybe they could try again? If they do make another one like this they should stick to how it was in the very beginning. The part where you walk into that mansion, and you have to move the camera around to look. That was great. Have that type of exploration. Use the d-pad to walk around, move the camera to look, and explore, and capture spirits. If they want an AR feature, then have a set of cards you can hold up to, I dunno, reload your film. Or replenish health. But don't make it the main part of the game.

The Good: - It's classic Castlevania but with RPG elements. - There are so many things to collect, but they really add to the experience. All the souls, weapons, crafting, etc, are really just a nice time waster. - Lots of exploration to be done, and mystery. - The story is basic but it motivates you onward. - Killing monsters is very satisfying. There are a ton of enemies. You'll never get bored with all the creatures. - The game is not too easy, and not too hard. It has the right level of difficulty. - The music is nice. - Despite console limitations the graphics are well done, other than the winter scenes, which just look washed out. The art is good. The Bad: - The game displays the action on the lower screen instead of the upper screen. It's a bizarre choice to make. Clearly, the menu, and map belong on the bottom. It would have been really handy if you could tap the screen, and look closer on the map (which is rather small). - There is one section of the game where you have to do some type of sliding puzzle. It was confusing. Not really fun if I have to say so myself. - The characters walks kind of slow. I would have liked it if he could walk a bit faster. But there is a method for fast travel, so this isn't a huge issue. - The teleport, and save areas really should be right beside each other. They are close to each other but not beside. - When you die you go back to the start up point of the game, like you resetted your console. Instead the game should ask you if you want to begin again from your save point. Yes or no? Simple, right? - A lot of grinding is required to get souls. It would be nice if acquiring souls was just little bit easier. I don't want it to be too easy, but sometimes it's frustrating. One character I killed literally a hundred plus times, and yet got no soul. I was just thinking, "C'mon now!" - I don't like those medusa heads! The ones that turn your into stone are just terrible.

When I first heard about Metro 2033 I was intrigued. It is a first person shooter set in Russia, in a dystopian future, where you must survive underground because of dangerous radiation on the Earth's surface, and a plethora of monsters, and, yes, even ****. The game however intriguing is not a very fun, or very interesting adventure. It has its strong points, like the atmosphere, and survival aspect, but other than that it falls a bit short. The combat system leaves much to be desired, the characters are flat, the story is tepid, and many levels are plain frustrating, especially the ones where you must wear a mask to survive. All in all Metro 2033 is not a bad game -- it's just not spectacular. A weak 7 is the best I could give it in consideration of the fun I had, or rather didn't have.

Fuse is a lot better than it's rated. I'd say it's a strong 7 or 8 out of 10. There really is a lot of fun to be had here. And, sure, I know it's an imitation of Gears of War, but it has some unique aspects to it. In one player mode (this game has two player split screen) you can switch between four characters, each with a unique weapon, and special ability. The African American man has a cross bow that can set people on fire. The white dude can create shields. The British girl is able to make people explode, and turn semi-invisible, while the ginger can throw med beacons, and turn enemies into ash. Another thing this game has, that Gears doesn't, is there are parts where you have to climb, and get past turrets, and laser beams Lara Croft style. You can also open grates, and sneak through air vents. But other than that we have similar game play to the famous GOW. So, Fuse is just a basic third person shooter, where you have to shoot, and kill a ton of enemies. Of course the game isn't withotu flaws. One problem is the story. It's pretty cheesy. It goes something like you have to stop someone from destroying the Earth with this Fuse substance. After that there's the controls. The controls work well enough, but I found that in certain levels it was problematic, and sometimes confusing. Characters seemingly would stick where they were not supposed to go, and they would be hard to control. Third, the game is not super long. It's good enough for me, but some might find it to be a little short, or not the length they want. Yet amidst this we still have a well put together shooter video game. I was also impressed with the loading times. They were very short, and I didn't do any installation whatsoever. That was pretty good. I didn't have to wait painful amounts of time to play it. All in all -> Worth a play, if you're a fan of the genre.

This game is not nearly as bad as most everyone is making it out to be. The reason it's rated to poorly is because it is not like Dead Island (which many people liked). This has the Dead Island name on it, but it's really its own thing. It has zombies in it, and everything else is different. It's a 3rd person action game, with a linear story line, and the graphics are extremely bright, and cartoony, like a comic book. If you think this is Dead Island, well, really, it's not at all. That said it does offer some fun. You can chop up zombies, explore a little (very limited), and do different things to the pass the time, including taking pictures. The pictures don't really save, but they unlock bonus items that tell you about characters. While I'm not super impressed with this title, it passes. This is a weak 7 but still a 7. It is worth a look, and a play for the right price. Maybe $10 to $12.

A comic book come to life... A well made game, with an interesting story, and some very interesting characters. I enjoyed playing as the Big Bag Wolf, and unraveling a gruesome, murder mystery. I enjoyed the bonus content too, which shouldn't be overlooked. Caveat, this game contains some nudity, and obviously violence. It's not for a younger audience. Keep in mind too that this is a Tell Tale production. It is considered a game but is closer to being an interactive book. If you're looking for something with a stromg story this could be worth a purchase. It's best played on PC; avoid the Wolf Among Us on the Xbox 360 (as it doesn't work at all).

This is the best South Park game I've ever played. Even though it's not my favorite genre (role playing) I found it entertaining enough to hold my attention throughout. That said it can sometimes be a mixed bags, with both pros, and cons. Here's what I found... PROS: - Graphically, an excellent representation of the cartoon. It looks just like South Park. - The humor is great, but bear in mind there is some adult content that's not appropriate for a younger audience. (S-E-X!) - If you're a South Park fan, then you'll enjoy the story. It continues off from a few earlier South Park episodes. - Although this is an RPG it has a fair amount of action elements, which keeps you engaged in battles. - It's fun exploring the town, and meeting all the characters, and interacting with objects. - You have lots of different weapons to choose from, and you can customize your character's clothes. - The progression system is well done. too. - In total it's a complete RPG experience. CONS: - The menu, while manageable, is sometimes confusing. There's a slight learning curve here. - Speaking of learning curves, since this game has action elements you are required to join in, and press certain buttons to attack your opponents. This can prove problematic, and you will avoid certain attacks, or get hurt. (Although they try to circumvent this with instructions.) - Not really a fan of the quick travel system. Why can't I just bring up my map, and travel to wherever I like? To fast travel I have to go to a certain spot, and hitch a ride with Timmay! - Getting lost in the woods is a pain. Not sure what they were thinking with this. It's the most annoying part of town. The enemies there, the wolves, they just obliterate you. They howl at the moon, and keep spawning. There's no run away option (I believe). - Some elements, and routes seem unintentionally obscured. For example, finding Mr Slave's house is kind of hard. - I like how you can visit characters, and do missions to have them help you during battles. My only gripe is once you use them up, you have to visit them again. It seems like a time waster. - The save system could use some improvement. When I save, I want to save at that precise point. Is this not technically possible? CONCLUSION: Not a perfect game, but very well done. Worth a play if you are a fan of South Park, or the RPG genre. If you aren't then this might not be for you. But give it a try. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

A very well done fighting game! While the mechanics are not perfect, and there is a decent learning curve, once you get used to it you will be in for a lot of fun, particularly if you're a comic book fan. It's all your DC favorites come to life in an epic fighting game. What stands out in particular is how you can use your environments, all the bonus content, and the single player campaign. The single player campaign is very entertaining. It's like an interactive story. You watch a cutscene, and then you must fight as whatever character comes your way. I applaud the creativity of this. It was a clever idea to make the single player mode a lot more enthralling. Of course it goes without saying there's a lot of replay value here too. If you like fighting games, and comics books, I highly recommend this game. You won't be disappointed. Right now it's going for $20 to $30 at most retail stores. I think it is worth the price. Bear in mind this review is only for the Ultimate Edition, which is a fully fleshed out game. The original is not.

This was a fun game. While not the greatest first person shooter, it's not as bad as the reviews lead you to believe. I do see why people didn't like it though. The story wasn't that strong, it was linear, a bit short, and the AI left something to be desired. But that said, I was not really bothered too much by these flaws. I had a good time shooting the baddies. There are lots of weapons to use, and play with, and you get to do a variety of things. You can drive a tank, a helicopter, command a dog (really!), go scuba diving, and even visit outerspace. Pick this up if you can get it for a fair price. P.S. Surprised this game has the Bethesda label on it. The quality of this title is not what one would expect from such an epic company. 'The Evil Within' can be fun but it doesn't impress.Seems like a decent imitation of a Resident Evil game. Why? There are many problems with this game: - Some parts of the game are literally seizure inducing. The f***. The level with the safe-monsters was so stupid! - VERY BUGGY. There were frame rate issues, pop ins, jagged shadows, and worst of all, busted save points. Thrice I encountered points where I could not save my game. All three times it just outright froze my console, and I had to reset my Xbox 360 -- and this was with the update! - There were times in a fight when the bosses would not appear at all. You'd have to start all over again. - Poor hit detection. Even if you brushed against certain enemies you'd die and/or be assaulted. - Nitpicking here, but sometimes when elements cluster together your character did the wrong action. Say for example, you're trying to pick up green gel, instead he will stomp an enemy. - Even fully upgraded your character feels a bit sluggish. - Some levels and areas were not well thought out. There was one level where you had these sniper-type enemies to kill. The problem was the designers did not anticipate not having enough ammunition, which could bring the game to a dead stop. Also, this level had issues with my partner. Yet another bug in the game. He got stuck in a wall, and would not help me. - The story and characters were very weak. A lot of the story didn't make any sense whatsoever, and it really just went nowhere. The characters were very forgettable too. I didn't care about any of them. There were a lot of cliches. This seemed to take some inspiration from Condemned: Criminal Origins, which did it a lot better. - The combat and controls were lacking. For example, even with camera controls, you can get visually stuck, and lose perspective, making the game difficult to play. You can also easily get stuck in a corner, trapped by enemies, with no way to charge through. I did not appreciate how little defense there was. All you can do in this game to dodge enemies is run, and not for very long. In general maneuvering around was a bit of a chore. It worked, but not flawlessly. - Sometimes there were areas or parts in the game that looked open to use, but often that wasn't true. This made the gaming experience just a wee extra frustrating. One level I was trying to jump over a raised floor, but instead I got trapped, and crushed by an enemy. Turns out that I could only jump over if I was exactly in the middle, and not anywhere near the side. But it appeared that I was able to do so. - Redundancy. Since this is a game where you die a lot this means a lot of redundancy. Which is a problem when you've been doing a lot of work in the game, and then you die, and you lose all the things you've collected.. Huge pain in the bum. - Sometimes you just don't know what to do! You have to trigger events, and then it can't be found. A hint, or tip, or something you can have at your request would go a long way. - The sneaking and hiding elements were a little under used. I think Bethesda wanted to push for an action game, and hence why you didn't see much of this feature being used. But just a little more sneaking and hiding would've added a greater feeling of suspense. - The mandatory install was annoying...! - When you finish the game you can restart with new additional elements (i.e. weapons), plus whatever you had from before. Problem is you are stuck on whatever difficulty you chose earlier. So, this reduces replay value. Furthermore, you cannot pick up extra ammo for your new weapons. - Casual setting isn't very casual. It's really difficult. Hard mode on other games is equal to the casual setting in 'Evil Within.' - The auto-aiming came in pretty handy. It was a pain though when you were trying to aim at things to explode and it aimed at individual enemies instead. - Graphics were so-so. Very bad lighting. I could point to much older games that looked better. Alan Wake for example. Now what about the good? - It's fun to destroy enemies. I liked the explosions of flesh. They really went all out with the gore. Did not seem to hold back. - Upgrade system was good although a little slow to progress. - The menus of this game and the organization were pretty well done. Nothing too mind boggling. This is something game makers often get wrong. - Smashing boxes, and barrels to find things, yes, please. Reminds me of old school games. - Puzzles presented were simple. Nothing mind boggling but it got you to stop and think. CONCLUSION: This is a mixed game. It has some good and bad to it. Could be worth a play for the right price. Although unfortunately it's not something I'd run out to purchase. I appreciate that Bethesda tried though. Evil Within is a strong 6/10. Playable but not amazing.

Shadows of the Damned is a third person shooter literally set in hell -- and that is what intrigued me. I thought the artwork was interesting and that this would be a really fun game to play. However, the game is held back by a few mistakes. First, there's the controls. I really don't like how I have to squeeze two triggers to shoot. Second, the aiming system is hard to get used to. The beam of light while visually appealing does not create accuracy. Third there is a lot of repetition. The most annoying part of the game by far is the system where you have to go back and forth between light and dark to deal with enemies, and challenges. At first it was kind of interesting but rather quickly lost its appeal. Fourth, your character often gets his back to a wall, and is totally stuck. You get boxed in quite easily. Although this is a minor annoyance. Fifth, going back to controls, the three different ways to heal yourself is kind of dumb. You have to hold the Y button, and then go to the d-pad. That's a huge pain in the ass. There really should only be one type of method to heal, which requires pressing a single button. Sixth, this is video game cliche, but I hate when you're low on health, and they make your screen red all around, blocking your vision. You're dying, and you want to survive, and the bloody border does nothing to help. Seventh, that darn light slug, or whatever it's called. Again this is a major complaint I have. I really dislike the light/dark system they use in general. I don't want to have to follow a narrow path, and be held back by managing both enemies, and a system where I have to constantly shoot a goat's head, or follow a slug, or whatever. This element would be acceptable if you only had to shoot it once, but it's temporary, and you have to keep going back, and forth. Eighth, that part of the game where your demon gun becomes really long, and you have to shoot those giant monster. That's boring. It's too restrictive. I get they were trying to add variety, but that really wasn't that fun. But overall, this is not a bad game. It just takes a few missteps. The art is great. The sense of humor is pretty good. Blasting demons is a blast. I just wish they had pared back a little. I feel that the team who made this was trying to add variety, when really they should've just stuck to the basics, and the core of the game, instead of throwing in too many elements. Yet this is definitely worth a sequel. Shadows of the Damned 2, yes, please.

I played this game for hours and hours. I barely got halfway through and then I quit. This game while not the worst I've played is a frustrating experience. I played and finished Far Cry 3, but this sequel was lacking, despite some minor improvements in gameplay. THE POSITIVE: 1. The world is beautiful. Nice to look at when you're on the ground. 2. You get to see boobs. 3. The battle arena is a nice addition. 4. There were some improvements in the mapping and menus. Although not sure if positive, since they still require improvement. 5. There are less cliffs and drops that you can fall off of. It still happens, but it's usually fair. Usually. 6. The rope system is kind of fun. 7. I liked the radio DJ. He's amusing. 8. The elephant was fun. THE NEGATIVE: 1. It's buggy as hell. There was a point where I couldn't even seen anything. The screen started splitting up, and then it became all pink, and white, and I couldn't fix it. This happened with an update...! 2. There are items locked behind a wall. You can't get ithem until you have enough uPlay points. I paid for the game (new)! Give me everything! I don't want to register with your club or whatever the hell it is. 3. It takes way too long to progress through the story, which to be frank wasn't all that interesting in the first place. You have all these frivolous missions getting in your way, and they are very boring. 4. The stealth missions, where you have to go undetected are a huge pain in the rear. You have to do them over, and over again, because someone got a glimpse of you. It doesn't matter if you kill them before they say anything. The bad guys are somehow telepathically connected to each other. 5. The mapping system still ****. Yeah, I want a map, but I don't want to have to visually hunt for my missions, and then select them, squinting to see if it's what I need to do to continue on through the story. There ought to be an ordered side bar where you select what to do, then it marks it down on the world. 6. There are missions where you have to hijack and drive a truck, but they seemingly come at random, and then it's way too hard to hijack the truck. 7. To upgrade your pouches, and rucksacks, you have to hunt animals. Okay. But some of the animals are really hard to find. I get that they want to make it more challenging, but this is just a hindrance in having fun. You have to pull your hair out to find rare animals, or kill animals that are magically resistant to bullets, like the honey badger, and rhino. Or you can only use certain weapons. 8. When you navigate the menus you cannot just use the d-pad. A minor criticism, however. 9. To get new items, or access upgrades there's this pain in the ass layered system. There should be only one layer! Why are there two layers? To get new guns you have to do specific missions, and then get money. To upgrade your skills, you have to do specific missions (some of which are way too difficult) to unlock skill sets, and then you must gain skill points to purchase them. This was a huge pain in the arse for me. 10. They have these little helicopters in the game, but they can barely fly. If you push too fast they start crapping out. And when you look down at the world it is intensely foggy, and the trees are flat. 11. Even on easy this game is still difficult. 12. The bell towers! How I hate them! I didn't get this game to do puzzles, and die from falling. If there are to be bell tower, then you should just shoot off a few bad guys, and then climb up. That's it. None of this Spiderman business. 13. The geography of the land is a pain. It's confusing. Mountains, mountains everywhere, getting in your way, and making it confusing to navigate. I should be able to get over, and around the mountains without great trouble. But that was not the case. The compass did not help me to avoid these piles of dirt and rock. 14. The character does everything so casually, like he's in no rush. It feels like it takes two hours to reload a weapon. 15. They have this system where you can hire guns for help, but guess what? They don't help you out when you want them to. It's very restricted. What's the point of this feature? 16. The controls left somehing to be desired. I hate how I had to press my thumbstick to assassinate people quietly. Why not let me use the trigger or some other more responsive button? Didn't seem like I could change my controls. 17. How come games don't have options to make the text larger? 18. When driving vehicles, because of the mountainous landscape, there should be a 3rd person perspective option so you can see from the outside. There are too many times where you can't see, and you drop off, and die. 19. When shooting in vehicles there should be bullet time. Hard to do two things at once, without some help. Anyway, I hope Ubisoft employees don't get angry at this review. I just want the Far Cry series to continue, and improve. Despite my annoyances.

The story is simple but decent. You're kidnapped by a polynesian mafia, and you have to escape, and rescue your friends. There's also a little bit of mysticism involved, and an upgrade system which greatly reminded me of both Dead Island, and the new Tomb Raider series. This game has a lot of action, and there is an upgrade system, but a lot of different things held this back for me. It's repetitive. I hate these grindy type games, where you have to do boring missions to improve your stats. I don't want to climb up a million radio towers, and I don't want to hunt animals, and collect plants, and do all that. This should be optional. Technically, it is, but you can't really progress through the game without doing these things. You have to do this rubbish to be strong enough to face the baddies. That's another thing -- the bad guys. It seems almost all video games have this flaw. Even though this had a stealth system, the baddies were able to detect me, and know where I was, even when I ran, and hid. It didn't work as well as I had hoped. It's especially frustrating when there are a million clones chasing after you, and you have a piece of crap weapon, and low health. Third, the general geography of the world was annoying. It's going up, and down, and around, and it's hard as f*** to know where you're going. The map doesn't provide much help either. The quest system is extremely flawed. This game, in order to provide a sense of variety, just confuses the average console gamer. How many hours in am I, and I can't store more than two weapons? They have these crappy tutorials, but they actually prove to be annoying. It should be straight forward. However, this game does have its merits. Like mentioned earlier, there is a good story line that motivates you to carry on. The characters are likeable, and there's lots of stuff to do, and a world to explore. Plenty of action too, more than anyone needs. But this game just doesn't bring together all the elements I like in a game. The Halo series seems to be the gold standard in first person shooters. They give you lots to do withotu overwhelming the player, and it's fairly easy to follow. Of course this game is worth a look; however, I believe it is far from perfect. It could've been an 8 or 9, but it didn't quite make it. Clunky interface and repetitiveness held it back for me.

The combat was excellent, as in all Halo games, but I didn't really have much fun with this. There was something lacking that I can't quite put my finger on. A good effort, but not a very enjoyable game. Should a World War 2 game be 'very enjoyable'? That is a matter of argument. But the clunky controls, and lack of proper hit detection made this a hair pulling experience. Local multiplayer would have made this a lot better, but unfortunately it is not here. However, the redeeming quality of this game is the story. The story, while rather light, takes you into the game, and makes you care about the characters. An enjoyable game all around, even if sometimes frustrating. There are a few flaws, but nothing you cannot over come. Asides from a few minor bugs, there are points in the game, where the camera angles, and imprecise controls betray you. Sometimes you just have to jump blindly. However, you can get through it, and overall Tomb Raider is something worth picking up. There are many surprises, and fun is to be had, especially if you are into the action-puzzle genre. For a lot of people (including myself) this will be a blast from the past, and a revisit to a game that upon release was extremely refreshing, and original.

A lot of people hated this game because of the ridiculous characters, and themes. But once you get past that it's a pretty fun game to play with a friend. It's just a regular old shooter.

I've played the Bioshock series in reverse order. I started with Infinite, which I thought was an astounding game, and then Bioshock 2, which was decent, and now Bioshock. It sounds awfully weird, but I believe it's allowed me to play this Bioshock without any hype, and with realistic expectations of what a game really can be. So what do I think? First, Bioshock is, 8 years after, still a beautiful game. It turns interesting. once you give it enough time, and you get submersised into this steampunk-style universe, and you genuinely want to keep going. But the game is not what I would call a masterpiece. It is mired in many problems. Some horrendous, and some that you can ignore. #1 - It is buggy - And yes, even with the updates it is still buggy. There are missions (like collecting chlorophyll) where you cannot proceed to the next level. The game just doesn't register what you've done, and you have to reset your game, go back to a previous save, or find another work around. Had this game had no bugs like this it would've been pretty good. But sadly it's still there, and this was what frustrated me the most. I wanted to throw my controller. I almost didn't continue on. A game studio like 2K G ames should have been on top of this. I am very disappointed in them. I suppose it's all in the past now. Boring missions - Not every mission is boring in Bioshock, obviously, but some of them are. In particular, the fetch quests were awful. If you do a fetch quest there a couple of rules. Don't make the player get several of one items. Don't make the player fetch too many items (three at most). Don't harrass the player with a constant flood of enemies, and challenges. There should be some, but not many, because a fetch quest should not be a game stopper. It shouldn't be given a lot of importance. It should be secondary. Repetitive - There are very few enemies in this game (in terms of variety), but they will bother the **** out of you. You constantly have to do the same thing over, and over again, trying to get these guys off your back. Sure, that's okay once in a while, but it gets tiresome, constantly having to shoot off the baddies. The deluge of enemies, non-stop, makes the game lose some of its charms. It's a beautiful game. Sometimes you want to just stop and look at things, but you can't really do that with enemies always following you, or popping up. The robots and cameras were annoying as hell. They put them in way too much. Security camers should have been placed sparingly, because they have an inclination to change the tone of the game, and how you play it. Enemy AI - These enemies are pretty dumb. They just keep attacking, and attacking. They don' t hide. They don't try to preserve their own life. They never stand still. There are no opportunities to make use of your zoom button. Hacking - This was a huge pain in the ass. It just **** you out of the game, and made you pull your hair. Luckily, they did away with it in Bioshock 2. Somewhat Weak Story - The story wasn't that bad, but it was a little weak. There was very little depth to it. There lacked a strong motivation to carry forward, although ultimately you did carry forward, because other parts of the game made up for the story. Controls - As far as I know there was only once control scheme, and I didn't like the layout of the buttons. But this is not a deal breaker. Clunky Combat - Every time you switch weapons your character has to do a whole show of what is happening. Although it might seem realistic to do that it slows down the game. It's a pain to switch from your 'magic' to your weapons. Navigation - It wasn't bad, but was a little confusing. You had to constantly look at your map, which was not really my preference. That takes you out of the game. But gamers would be delighted, they fixed this in Bioshock Infinite. Monetary System is Confusing - Just use dollars and be done with it. Why are there so many methods of acquiring what you need? Conclusion: Worth playing, but there are some drawbacks. The worst is the bugs in game. The sequels are better.

'Prey' is this crazy first person shooter, where you are an 'Indian' living on a reservation, with both your grandfather, and girlfriend. You long to leave everything behind...then all of a sudden you get your wish when all three of you are abducted by aliens. But right away your grandfather is killed, and your girlfriend is held captive. You find yourself trapped too, but with the help of a mysterious stranger you are able to free yourself, and you must go around an enormous alien mother ship, shooting freaks of nature, and solving puzzles to find your damsel in distress. A cool idea really, but that is the strongest part of the story, and it declines from there. The gameplay, however, is the biggest issue. It's not as fun as one would think. First, the control scheme was very unusual. It was frustrating when you wasted ammo trying to activate an object. However, this was not a deal breaker. I was more concerned about my surroundings. The environments in 'Prey' are so muted, and murky, and so many places look the same. That doesn't apply in all parts of 'Prey', but for the most part there is a lot of repetition, going from place tp place, going up these whacky walkways, fiddling with gravity, and killing enemies who appear out of nowhere. It feels so long, and tedious. You feel like a rat trapped in a maze. Of course there are some good points to this game' A lot of the design elements were absolutely trippy. For example, you have the ability to use your spirit to do tasks for you and solve puzzles. When you die you go into a spirit realm, and you can replenish your health, and magic by shooting arrows at these flying monsters. There's one part in the game where you go through this portal, and find yourself on a mini planet. But everything is larger than you because you find out you've shrunk down...! Also, there are parts where you can listen to Art Bell from Coast to Coast AM talk to his listeners, which I thought was really awesome. But sadly, these bursts of creativity are not present throughout the entire game. There were many opportunities to take it up a notch, and it just never happened. The repetitiveness, and weak story held this game back from being great. Yet despite this criticism this is in no way a bad game. It's not a bad game. It's a game that was held back for one reason or another. It's still a shame they didn't get to make a sequel, and get a second chance.

As far as the story goes for 'The Walking Dead' this is one of the best in gaming. You feel wrapped up in the world of the walkers, and you feel every emotional hit, as you try doing what's best for yourself, and Clementine, the little girl you are protecting. It is bitter sweet, but you carry on, because you want to see this get to an end. When you play this video game you will be the edge of your seat. Nothing about this is easy, and that's what it makes it so good. Definitely worth a try.

It's not as good as the first, but the game still has alotta heart. It's a real emotional rollercoaster, and you just don't know what's going to happen next. You make all these tough choices, and it all feels so hard to live with. Each time you want to go back to see how you could've changed the outcome. But realistically you're just a little girl, trying to survive, and almost nothing you do matters. You are overwhelmed not just by these monsters, but the people around you.

Wow. This is one of the worst video games I've ever played! It's just so clunky, and deformed. It's like the people who made this never even made a video game before in their life. I just hate to be so harsh, but this is not worth the cost whatsoever. Definitely pass this by, even if it's free.

Another Resident Evil game. This game could have been pretty good, but it is held back by repetitiveness, a weak story, dumb AI, and clunky controls. Like most games in this genre there is a lot of running around, collecting, checking rooms, and shooting the same monsters over, and over again. Then you are driven forward by a poorly written storyline where you must unravel mysteries in a very convoluted manner, and in which you are given a heap of cliches. On your journey you take along a partner at all times, who is no help whatsoever. It almost feels like they're not there at all, that they just exist for no reason. But this is not the worst part of this game. The worst part of this game is the controls. I'm not talking about the button layout or anything like that. I am talking about how your characters moves, and how s/he can interact with the surrounding environment. The speed, and ability to manuever, and dodge enemies is frustrating. They throw these fast paced enemies at you, but you find yourself unable to avoid their attacks. The controls provided are not suited to the challenges you are given. They just don't match. For the life of me I cannot understand why they make you furiously waggle your thumbstick around to free yourself from an enemy...! Every time I do it, I feel like my control is going to break, and I do not feel it is helping to get me free from the enemy. It can be a frustrating experience. However, amidst all these complaints there are some good points to Resident Evil Revelations. The atmosphere they have created is excellent. It really puts you on edge, and gives you the jitters. It feels a lot like Resident Evil 2, or one of the classic Resident Evil titles. You get a sense of dread while playing. That is the strongest point of this game. You feel like you are in a horror movie. I liked having to think about my next step, wondering what was around the next corner, and conserving my ammunition. At times I felt totally submerged in the game, where the monsters were all both disgusting and terrifying. It made my heart race. And for that I think this game is definitely worth trying. Experiences may vary!

Monster Madness is kind of a spiritual successor to the classic game 'Zombies Ate My Neighbors.' You have these cartoony characters, who go around, and demolish zombies throughout town. But, despite the excellent source of inspiration, this game falls short. It's not necessarily a bad game, but there is something dissatisfying about it. 1. The controls are too complicated. This has the earmarks of a casual, easy to pick up game, yet it it is very difficult to control your character. A game like this should only use a single analog stick, and have at most three, maybe four buttons. 2. It feels like you're hitting air. When you attack zombies you don't really get that 'crunch' feeling, like something is registering. Improved sounds and animations for hits are sorely needed. 3. There is a lack of humor. I know that the game looks fun and cartoony, but the characters do not live up to expectations. There are no laugh out loud moments, and since this is a parody of the zombie genre, that should be there. Funniness would have added a lot to this game. Wise cracks, puns, jokes should've been a major component of the title. When you look at the cover of the video game it looks so silly, but once you get past the comics, there isn't much. 4. Single player mode needs two characters on screen to interact with each other. I know that this is meant to be played with friends, but I still believe, when you play on single player mode, you ought to be able to select more than one character. You should be able to select your character, plus someone else to accompany you; otherwise, there is a lack of chemistry. It feels like you're alone. That should not be the case when this game sells the characters as a parcel deal. 5. The heads up display is rather confusing. Why not just use a regular life meter? In conclusion: I hope that South Peak comes back to this game in the future, and fixes all these problems. It's a game that could really work if tweaked. It was a good effort that only needs a bit of polishing.

You play as Booker Dewitt in Bioshock Infinite. You travel to a floating city in the sky to rescue a girl. But then things start going awry, and a mysterious unfolds before your very eyes. Not a perfect story, but this is a beautiful game, and very well done. Definitely worth a play for FPS fans.
