I played this game with my mother and my sister-in-law, of whom neither had played a PC game before, and both really enjoyed it. It's simplicity really goes hand in hand with all of it's other qualities. It truly shines because of it's art style and intriguing atmosphere that are both complimented by it's mysterious plot. The puzzles are fantastic and fun, the controls are simple, the mechanics are great, the sound, level, world and character are design are done brilliantly. The open-ended storyline and the lack of - almost - anything related to the characters and the world is something that may bother you, but ultimately, I ended up enjoying that a lot more than I thought.

I could not possibly put into words how many things this game does perfectly. Even if I could write a book, I'd probably still fail in reflecting all I love about this game, so I'll just talk about the bad things. It's the type of game that appears to be unbeatable without checking the wiki and planning the correct path, but that's actually not true. If you give it enough tries, you'll find that you will be able to get a good ending and not an early death in 5-10 failed playthroughs, which isn't a lot of hours. The replay-ability of this game is on a whole other level, since depending on the paths you choose, lots of different events and dialogue options are triggered. To the reviewers that say it lacks depth and has the illusion of choice, you just don't know what you're talking about... Check the Wiki for the amount of endings this game has and you'll be informed. An "Ending" is something very subjective to this game, and not for the superficial reasons you may be thinking of once you boot up the game and die once or twice. Even on good endings, there are tons of things that go down very differently depending on what you do. Some trivial, and some not. I can understand that you may become frustrated if you don't fully enjoy the gameplay or aren't fan of the genre to replay it so many times, since you will have to go through a lot of the same plot and dialogue. I, however, being an extremely impatient and easily annoyed type of player, still did not. it's easy not to like it at first and delude yourself that it is simply a game that focuses on being too complex to fool you while it's content is ultimately narrow, but that's not the truth in this case. Seriously, if you still doubt that, just check the Wiki for this game and you'll be amazed by the sheer amount of things you can do in this game. I'm confessing to be a biased, slightly obsessed fan, and yet still, I could not possibly explore all this game has to offer.

For someone that loves this genre, and other dialogue-heavy type games, I was beyond excited for this release. I loved the main menu, off the bat, the artstyle and the sound design. The intro hyped me up even more, it shows you the true potential of the plot, while introducing you to great characters voiced excellently, as well as interesting yet simple game mechanics. As the game progresses, however, you start to realize it lacks a lot of depth and does a lot of things wrong. The atmosphere stops grabbing you, and the dialogue starts to become predictable and mistimed at some points. The world stops making sense and stops interesting you, lots of jokes simply aren't funny, and it resorts to a lot of cheap tricks to entertain you, that just aren't very entertaining. My main issue with the game is that the questline is extremely cheap and boring. Seriously comparable to WoW filler quests like "Go to the forest fetch three mushrooms so that Orc can cook up dinner" type stuff. The whole game really feels like it's trying to fill the gaps, to take up as much time as it can, trying to build up an experience it clearly fails to deliver. All the characters except the main ones stop making sense. The challenges are not really challenges, and the illusion of choice is very present in this game. The ending is awful and the most unsatisfactory, cliché thing you can imagine. The twists really are bad and the experiences you had are completely void of any meaning. I even had lines of dialogue - I mean full conversations - repeat at completely different times and quests you could just retry endlessly without a consequence for failure. The character design and voice acting of Milo and Lola really save the game. I pumped it up to a 7 because I really love this type of Oxenfree-like games, but ultimately, I was very disappointed.

It is an extraordinarily unique idea that is accompanied by good design and really takes you back to the medieval ages. The choices you make feel like they matter, and you can very easily ditch out lots of hours playing this game mindlessly sitting at your desk or laptop. The cards do get repetitive very quickly, but they must so that you can learn to strategize which decision you'll make in which circumstances. Main issue for me is that it's way too hard to actually finish the game, or get anywhere with the underlying plot. The quest lines that excite you once you see them will never get you anywhere unless you research and spend lots more hours re-doing it to get anything satisfactory. If you don't want to get out of your way for a half-decent ending, then it's a simple mindless never-ending mobile game ported to PC.

I see a lot of complaints about bad keyboard controls and about it being a bad port to PC and that it runs worse than an emulator. Controller games are rarely or never even playable with keyboard controls, many of them big titles that don't even support keyboard. It ran wonderfully on my PC with absolutely 0 issues, flawless performance. Now, talking about the game - which more people should be doing in these user critics, seriously - it has lots of highlights. The voice acting, the character design, the artstyle, and the RPG elements of the game are great to say the least. I love the cutscenes, the plot that doesn't take itself seriously, and most of all, I love the Operation Room and all the loot and ways to upgrade your character. It has an old vibe to it that reminds me of PS2 games and it really is super fun to get new and better stuff to equip. The visuals and the atmosphere of the game could be better, the level design could be better thought out (maps and enemies are very reused and become stale), and the gameplay could have a bit more depth. Nevertheless, you will have a good experience playing, at least, the first chapter. The missions are fun, the gameplay is action-packed and chaotic but simple to get a hold of, and the Bosses are fantastic! The main disappointment for me were the difficulty levels. I played on Normal, and some maps were very easy, some maps were so difficult you had to retry like ten times and be lucky to get through them, some maps were very easy with super difficult parts, and all of these could come one after the other. It makes no sense and it just mounts up to a frustrating experience.

Antichamber sets itself aside from other puzzle games simply by being extraordinarily unique. The best way to describe it would be that it is different. Different how? It's abstract but objective. The puzzles it presents you are difficult in the most creative way, each one with it's clever twist. The world it sets you on is distinct and intriguing, allowing you to travel through the puzzles as if you're interpreting a bigger picture.

I would understand this game's appeal if the visuals were at any point interesting or if the gameplay was ever fluid enough to make the stunts fun and satisfying to perform. The maps are horrible, the game is glitchy, void of anything to do at all. The one thing it has going for it is ultimately ruined by it's poor performance. I can not possibly see anyone having fun with this game unless they are getting thousands of views for doing it, or if they are children.

Without any kind of tutorial or proper introduction other than a cutscene explaining the scenario and the plot, the game began and I had literally no idea what to do. After way too long I realized things probably already went haywire and I had missed something, so I closed it. After googling I learned that at no point does it ever tell you how to play the game. Yet even after learning, I made a genuine attempt to finish the game, and still, I'd keep failing. It got so frustrating I had to quit. The article admits that if you want to beat the game, you probably not only have to google the controls, but also what to do and when to do it. It is seemingly too difficult to play without a playthrough guide popped up on your second screen... The score isn't any lower because of the game's originality. It is a unique idea, an entertaining one if it had been approached correctly. The actors are great, the plot is decent, and there is a lot of quality stuff to watch and fun to be had by playing this game.

A survival city-building game in a novel setting that hasn't been properly explored yet. I believe this to be the best of it's genre, mostly due to it's aesthetic and how well it delivers it's approach. The progress in this game is intuitive, the mechanics are unexpectedly interesting, the art style and the world fit beautifully, and the gameplay is ultimately intriguing. I think this is exceptionally wonderful for nature and animal lovers, as this hits all the good spots, with all the animal and landscape designs done perfectly. It focuses on exactly what it needs to and provides a very relaxed gaming experience where you enter another world. I rate it this low due to the lack of storyline, purpose or narration. It leaves a hole in the experience that is necessary for me, though most if not all the games in this genre do the same.

I really just cannot understand why people like this game so much. I enjoyed it a lot, and was very stunned by it, in the first five minutes. It has good controls, good visuals, interesting narrative, decent gameplay, and very good level design. It keeps introducing new and fun mechanics, and it isn't difficult to the point it is frustrating, nor easy to the point it's really boring. It is fun and easy-going, but it is nothing more than that. It doesn't do perfectly with the things it focuses and strives on, and it's highlights are repeated endlessly throughout the game. It doesn't have a lot going for it at all, but what it does have, is pretty good. Definitely not deserving of such high critic and user score though in my personal opinion. I played it blindly, and had a good time. But if you go in expecting a 8/10 action-packed indie, this is probably going to disappoint you. It is - very basically - a mini-game that was expanded upon to create a more well-rounded and complete fun yet short bit of entertainment.

I did not play this game to it's completion. Better yet, to any of it's 8 completions. But I believe I played enough of it and have seen enough reviews to make up my own opinion. The two strong points to this JRPG are the diverse storylines and the visual aspects. I was expecting a lot more out of it in terms of story-telling, and I was also very disappointed by it's art. Even though it's good, it's nowhere near as good as I thought it would be. The stories aren't well connected, and just by playing the first four to five hours of the game you can tell the game isn't shaped correctly. The gameplay is not very in sync with the plot, nor is the narrative very well directed. Some bits go on for way too long even though they are ultimately trivial and without any significance. It is unique though, and it has very fun twists. If you are a fan of this genre, you should not miss this game!

This game does NOT hold your hand, and it will scare the living HELL out of you, even though it is just a simple 2D game. Very easily the best 2D horror game out there, even comparing it to Lone Survivor or any other classic horror indies. You will be pulled in. It is mysterious, creepy, and leaves you wanting to know more. The atmosphere couldn't be done better, and the controls are next to perfect. Even though it might stop being scary once you get the hang of the game and go out exploring quite a lot, it will still be unsettling. Every time you put on your headphones and start this game, you will be IN it, completely absorbed by it's aesthetics and design (sound, level, character...) But it is quite complicated, and difficult to say the least. You will die and get frustrated, and you will, most likely, not know what you're doing, even after a few hours of the game. If you like an intuitive video game that explains itself quite well, this probably isn't for you. But you can still play it and have lots of fun if you have a friend that can guide you along the way, or try a bit harder than you usually do, and get there yourself! Main negative aspect of this game for me is that when you do get the hang of it, it goes from being very complex, to quite easy. You start realizing most of the mechanics are trivial or not as meaningful as you thought. And as much as it has a lot going for it, it doesn't keep on giving you more and more; it just gives you what it has, and that's it.

I was having a bit of fun with it at the start, but it quickly became unsatisfactory and unpleasant. Like other reviewers have said, it tries a lot to be funny without succeeding, the retro aesthetic is overdone, and the few new things it introduces I personally dislike, for example the finances and the purchasing of real-estate or other businesses. Everything new it tries to do is very minor or not done very well. The storyline really is nothing to be interested in, it's messily written and the gameplay is chaotic yet bland. What you have to do is a lot of times confusing and you just skip from one mission to the next, without any kind of reward, progress, or joy. I also got stuck in the first hour due to a horribly designed quest, and in the second hour due to a bug, so do with that what you will.

Improvements to this game, I could not think of any. More mechanics or RPG elements would have fogged the brilliancy of the ones it presents, and make it feel just like a bit too much. Even if the aesthetics and the storyline of the game weren't as they were - simply the greatest of all time - the rest of the game would still make it to a perfect score. The voice acting is stellar, the combat is action-packed and entertaining, the looting is smooth yet incredibly necessary, the level design couldn't have been done better, the plot hooks couldn't fit better, the visuals are breath-taking, the collectibles, extras, easter eggs and secrets are brilliant. The mix of action, drama, pause and strategy leave enough space for creativity, intrigue, fun and emotion. The ending, as is known, will leave you speechless, very possibly crying, and absolutely flabbergasted. A must-play for any type of video-game enthusiast, or for anyone actually. Fans of the steampunk genre will lose their heads. Simply the best game ever made.

This game excels in story-telling, mood-setting, new and diverse mechanics, as well as gameplay. It even gives you the power of decision-making to alter the ending of this amazing game. It has stunning graphics, entertaining gameplay, and well-rounded level design. The content is exciting and keeps you on your toes. For me, however, it goes on for a bit too long. There are some missions that feel like they're just in to fill the gaps. The open-world isn't at all the main focus of the game, even though it was done well. It even has some RPG elements that give it a unique flavor. It is definitely a staple in the industry and a classic to say the least, but it fails to go on my top of all time list due to it inevitably feeling a bit bland as you progress through the game. It is excellent at what it does, but outside of a wide array of mechanics, it doesn't do all that much.

An incredible action-adventure. This game plays a lot like levels in a puzzle game. You must figure out where the enemies are, kill them, and move on. On your first playthrough, you will be intimidated by the first few missions due to it's open style of gameplay, but you will quickly get the hang of it. You will die lots of times too, and try the "level" again, until you can go on to the next batch of gunmen to dodge and eliminate. The action is accompanied by an intriguing tale and okay characters, but the level design is truly outstanding. My only complaint about this game is that there a good amount of unfair, unfun, frustrating parts to the game. The gameplay becomes boring and frustrating at some points. The game progresses very blandly with a clear lack of emotion or plot connectivity.

This game is funny, entertaining, and addictive. It kept me up for nights at a time because of it's amazing character design, acting, gameplay, and content in general. The fourth-wall breaks are hilarious. Maybe it is because I was younger when I played this game, but this game feels like it is there with you as you progress. If you're playing it because you love the Deadpool movies or comics, you seriously will not be disappointed. It does Deadpool perfectly. I don't give it a higher rating due to it being nothing more than what I've already described. It is an entertaining, well-appropriated action game. The experience was nothing more than a few hours well spent for me.

It is near-perfect in the open-world, city/crime genre. Even though it doesn't deliver anything necessarily new or unique, it differentiates itself from others in the genre by having a very distinct delivery. Comparing it to GTA V, which came out only 1 year after, it does lack in a lot of factors. It plays a lot more like a story-driven adventure game you can sometimes stop and play around with, than a world full of possibilities you can explore and revel in. However, even though there is a lot less you can do and interact with, the city does speak out to me a lot more than other games in this category. It feels a whole lot more personal, maybe due to it's strong focus on the plot, and therefore it becomes a much more pleasant experience.

Sure, the combat does get repetitive. The gameplay does become boring after a while, and the quests aren't anything otherworldly. But none of these aspects are bad enough that they ruin the rest it has to offer: innovative scenarios (like the time rewinding), amazing character design, incredible storyline, stunning visuals (for the time, even though they're still satisfying), and ultimately, the best world and atmosphere any adventure game has yet to present. For fans of the cyberpunk genre, at the time, this could be equivalent to the nowadays Night City. It may not be the best game as a whole, but it is incredible at what it focuses on.

You can not ask for a more consistent, atmospheric, horrifying game experience. On top of that, a breath-taking storyline in an incredibly well-made world, complete with the interactive gameplay that allows for alternate endings! This is simply the best horror game that has ever been made, and it will doubtfully ever be bested. But it is worth saying that some people may find it's puzzles complicated, it's survival aspect too demanding, and the "questline" confusing. It's not a game that necessarily holds your hand, and it may be overwhelming.

This game as failed to have any impact on me after all these years. I very easily would have forgotten it, were it not part of an amazing series. The story falls short, the content and atmosphere could be more consistent, and the gameplay is the worst part. It's a visually appealing game, with it's fair share of scary moments as well as scream worthy jumpscares (to be fair, some are quite cheap). I do think it is worth playing due to it being scary, beautiful and easy-going.

This game is ground-breaking when it comes to it's story-line, content and gameplay. It manages to hit all the same spots as all the great adventure games do, while also delivering a completely unique and superior experience. You will like the plot, even if you couldn't interact with it the way you can. You will like the atmosphere, and the way the story is delivered, even without the extra scenes (the psychiatrist) and the easter eggs. You will like the gameplay, it is thrilling and has lots of fun and scary moments, even without those moments where your skill or decision-making can change everything. With all this said, it is important to note that it acts more as a story-driven adventure game, than a scary atmospheric horror game. You will not be horrified. The atmosphere focuses more on it's beauty than scaring you.
