SPECTRE6
Nov 16, 2015
After a stand-out Skyfall, SPECTRE fails to be anything more than a supbar and admittedly disappointing chapter in the Bond saga with nothing playing out to it's full potential
Jul 28, 2015
Charlie Bartlett6
Jul 28, 2015
Charlie Bartlett is inexplicably cheap looking and sounding. If I were shown this movie without knowing anything about it I would have thought it was from the 90's. Aside from that, I have never seen a teen coming of age comedy with such strong performances. The story often times is confused and scattered, but focuses up enough at vital moments to make it solid, and respectful to the issues it is dealing with.
Jul 26, 2015
Quantum of Solace4
Jul 26, 2015
What is so sad about Quantum of Solace is the tremendous step down it was from Casino Royale. The only thing that makes this a Bond movie is Bond himself. All the style, action, and fun is **** out and replaced by painful mediocrity.
Jul 26, 2015
Unbreakable7
Jul 26, 2015
Commendable especially for the well written dialogue and the several long shots throughout. Unbreakable can be slow sometimes, but ultimately is a well acted and performed dramatic thriller.
Jul 26, 2015
Interstellar6
Jul 26, 2015
The first six hours of Interstellar are amazing and contain some of the most beautifully shot and thrilling scenes from a sci-fi movie, but the final act isn't just **** unravels the rest of what was a beautifully woven story.
Jul 26, 2015
Noah4
Jul 26, 2015
It's not like an average Hollywood blockbuster...which in general is a good thing. However Noah is sloppily told with a mix of sometimes incredible sometimes laughable and always slightly odd visuals. However the main problem with this movie stems from the fact that it is quiet obvious that the director-instead of seeing a message of hope and redemption, sees Benjamens...lots and lots of em
Jul 26, 2015
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire9
Jul 26, 2015
While the earlier movies in the series were passable, this fourth installment finally takes the franchise to new heights of energy and humor. The full potential is now realized and put beautifully onto the screen
Jul 26, 2015
Horns8
Jul 26, 2015
There is a lot not to like, and there is a lot that could have been done much **** it is an enjoyable and creative enough to be appealing. However this is really something that will split audiences, some will not care for it, some will really like it. Just watch for yourself and decide
Jul 26, 2015
Super 88
Jul 26, 2015
It moves fast at first, keeping the viewer enthralled and guessing, but looses some of that momentum to a predictable and cheesy ending. However the movie is still for the most part intelligent and fun enough to make it higher end summer entertainment
Jul 26, 2015
Cowboys & Aliens4
Jul 26, 2015
Despite the silly and potentially fun premise, Cowboys and Aliens takes itself too seriously and because of it ends up being stale and even boring instead **** and insane good time that it could have been
Jul 26, 2015
Shaun of the Dead9
Jul 26, 2015
Shaun of the Dead is the perfect picture of what friends and passion mixed with a healthy dose of pure comic talent can do. Shaun of the Dead is clever, funny, witty, and in the end; heartfelt.
Jul 26, 2015
Green Lantern2
Jul 26, 2015
The biggest crime with Green Lantern is the utter disrespect of the source materiel. Apparently DC executives have begun filming themselves taking a crap and expect it to make money.
Jul 26, 2015
The World's End8
Jul 26, 2015
How a movie can make one feel so much for a pub run I have no ****'s a kick in the nuts to modern comedies who rely on fart jokes and poorly shot improv.
Jul 26, 2015
Hot Fuzz10
Jul 26, 2015
It's a breath of fresh air to watch a movie which is more than just pointing the camera at an actor and telling them to say something funny, but instead is stylish, hilarious, action packed, and beautifully uses both audio and visuals to create jokes and laughs through out instead of just a punchline here and there
Jul 26, 2015
Snowpiercer10
Jul 26, 2015
Snowpiercer is great on many different levels. It can be accepted at face value as nothing more than an extremely fun and amazingly well shot/acted summer movie; or it can be taken to a whole new level. Snowpiercer is a movie of ****'s not just a political commentary, but the more you think about it the more you realize it's a movie about misconceptions, misery, death, despair and in the end...hope.
Jul 25, 2015
Inside Out4
Jul 25, 2015
It's humor and wit never go further than the concept itself, which however cute and "imaginative" it may be is anything but "original". The family is to perfect and the comic relief to annoying for this movie to be anything more than at times cute enough to enjoy for a few seconds before sappy music and over exposed shots of happiness and laughter meant to do nothing blatantly and lazily abuse your emotions set in. At this point Pixar seems to be doing nothing but rinsing and repeating, but since they're Pixar I guess I'm not allowed to criticize them.
Jul 23, 2015
American Sniper8
Jul 23, 2015
This movie isn't as much about the political views or beliefs about the war, but purely about the man. And I for one found it respectful, well shot, and insanely well acted. Unfortunately the scenes that take place back in the states are less emotionally powerful as they could be, and instead drag on for a bit longer than they needed to have.
Jul 23, 2015
Ant-Man7
Jul 23, 2015
It's action sequences are something to behold and more fun than you could believe, but there isn't a lot that ties them together except a few snappy one liners. In the end you walk out not regretting the $10 you paid for it, but at the same time feeling like it was incomplete; fun, but incomplete.
Jun 9, 2015
127 Hours10
Jun 9, 2015
Of course it's violent and shocking, but it's also personal, beautiful, relatable, and above all inspiring. It is a movie for the weak of heart, but strong of stomach
Apr 28, 2015
Hours8
Apr 28, 2015
It would be dishonest to say that some of the emotional power of this movie is derived by the untimely death of its lead, and it would also be dishonest to ignore the often slow pace. However the tension is strong enough, the cinematography fitting enough, and the acting powerful enough to bring home what is one of the most emotionally charged and feeling conclusions I have ever seen.
Feb 26, 2015
Hitch8
Feb 26, 2015
With any other lead Hitch would be just a slightly above average romantic comedy, but because of Will Smith's smooth and clever acting, Hitch is elevated from just another rom-com to a much more memorable and funny movie.
Feb 26, 2015
Jerry Maguire9
Feb 26, 2015
It is both hilarious and heartfelt. Well acted and well written. Probably one of the most quotable movies of all time, and one of the few that actually brought a few tears to my eyes. Bonus points for one of the best child actors ever!
Feb 25, 2015
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 17
Feb 25, 2015
It's a flawed film, there is no doubt about that, and maybe this movie shouldn't have "Part 1" on the end of **** THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY-PART 1 is directed and acted well enough to make it worth your $12.50.
Feb 25, 2015
Maniac8
Feb 25, 2015
MANIAC is incredibly well shot and masterfully acted. It is definitely style over content, but as most horror movies have neither of those things, MANIAC is surprisingly fresh and often completely terrifying. As someone who is rarely scared by horror movies, I was pleased to for once be sensitive to the noises in the house and feel a tingle down my spine whenever I turned out the light.
Feb 24, 2015
Dredd8
Feb 24, 2015
DREDD (2012) is fun and nothing but bloody gutsy stylish well-shot fun. The film takes off and never really lets you go. It shies away from the much hated shaky cam that often ruins and pollutes good action movies, and instead boldly puts the action into your face.
Feb 24, 2015
Beowulf6
Feb 24, 2015
Beowulf is a fun cheap ride that you will walk away and forget. However while in the film, you will enjoy yourself, but maybe feel a little unsatisfied.
Feb 24, 2015
Captain America: The Winter Soldier9
Feb 24, 2015
Boasting killer action scenes and a superb cast, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is a pleasant change tone and a welcome addition to the Marvel Universe
Feb 24, 2015
Groundhog Day9
Feb 24, 2015
Groundhog Day is one of those rare comedies that is both kind, heartfelt, smart, and very, very funny.Strong performances, original setting, and great writing make Groundhog Day a true classic.
Feb 24, 2015
Solomon Kane6
Feb 24, 2015
The acting is pretty painful at some parts, and the characters are sloppily written and uninteresting, but the thing that saves Solomon Kane from complete failure is its dazzling visuals and well executed action.
Feb 24, 2015
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets7
Feb 24, 2015
It moves like the book it was based on, and with that comes both positive and negative results. Luckily they are mostly positive. The acting is surprisingly solid considering the actors are all kids, and the directing is capable enough.
Feb 24, 2015
Submarine9
Feb 24, 2015
While some may complain that the style is over the top, I find that it fits perfectly for the quirky characters. However the real star of the show is the performance of Craig Roberts and the cleverly written and well delivered dialog.
Feb 24, 2015
Galaxy Quest9
Feb 24, 2015
A perfect picture of what a parody/satire movie should look **** never milks a joke to the point where it is tired and boring, but instead keeps serving fresh and funny jokes and characters.
Feb 24, 2015
Panic Room9
Feb 24, 2015
David Fincher once again gives his viewers the feeling as though they are omnipotent as we look as a frighteningly realistic and heart stopping thriller. The performances are flawless, the direction is flawless, and the only flaw I have with it is a pretty basic plot and set up. And emotional and thrilling film.
Feb 24, 2015
Left Behind2
Feb 24, 2015
As a christian I feel little guilt in my dislike of Left Behind. Its worse sin is that throughout the whole movie, you are constantly asking why people would be doing nonsensical things. Somehow this movie about people vanishing from the world and starring Nicolas Cage is boring. Like REALLY boring...
Feb 24, 2015
Grand Piano8
Feb 24, 2015
Music fans will be drooling over the beautiful music and setting, while those less interested in music will shrug it off as little more than a guilty pleasure. I however am a music fan, and enjoyed it from the first note to the pounding finale.
Feb 12, 2015
Seventh Son1
Feb 12, 2015
From pathetical acting to pathetical screen writing to pathetical plot, Seventh Son is truly the bottom of the barrel when it comes to fantasy films. However I will give it points for the unintentional comedy.
Feb 1, 2015
Sabotage0
Feb 1, 2015
I love David Ayer. I truly do. However even a fan such as I can't deny that Sabotage is truly a crap fest. It is boring, sloppy, poorly acted AND directed and contains some of the most awkward dialog I have ever heard. 0/10
Feb 1, 2015
The Incredible Hulk9
Feb 1, 2015
Colorful, exciting, well acted and visually impressive, The Incredible Hulk is one of my personal favorite Marvel Phase 1 movies. Edward Norton truly shines as does Tim Roth 9/10
Jan 31, 2015
Boys and Girls4
Jan 31, 2015
The biggest problem with Boys and Girls is that the director tries to force Freddie Prinze Jr. into a role that he just can't fit. Sometimes bits and bursts of his charisma and enjoyable acting shines through, but is smothered once again by awkward chemistry, weak directing, and un unfunny script. 4/10
Jan 30, 2015
Transformers: Age Of Extinction1
Jan 30, 2015
How can a movie about giant transforming robots shooting each other in the face be BORING?! It truly takes a master to fail so bad, that he could make a movie where after what feels like 4 hours of explosions leaves me snoozing in my seat. insanely dull and prolonged. 1/10
Jan 30, 2015
Mr. Nobody10
Jan 30, 2015
Rarely do you get a film that is both so enjoyable and so moving. Mr. Nobody is slick, with a great story, great acting, great directing, and excellent writing. Jared Leto does a fantastic job, but the movie doesn't rely purely on his star power. It moves along at lightning speed and drops you off at the end satisfied but at the same time wanting more. Intelligent and heartfelt. 10/10
Jan 30, 2015
The Avengers9
Jan 30, 2015
I'll admit it's cheesy, but The Avengers is also insanely enjoyable, exciting, and well acted. Everyone brings their A-game, and Joss Whedon masterfully creates the nerd film of the century. Insane fun. 9/10
Jan 30, 2015
Unbroken5
Jan 30, 2015
The worst part about Unbroken is just how mediocre it is. Such a hero deserves a film less interested in trying to get its director an Oscar, and more interested in doing its hero justice. Unbroken is unmemorable. 5/10
Jan 30, 2015
Chef9
Jan 30, 2015
It often seems to lose focus, and there is a noticeable tone change halfway through, but Chef is too well directed and acted to not love. Jon Favreau gives such a powerful performance, that you can't help but get **** into Carl Casper's life. Deliciously enjoyable 9/10
Jan 30, 2015
She's All That8
Jan 30, 2015
Sure the story is flawed and cliche, but the important part about a movie like this is the characters. Whereas other high school comedies' characters are the worst part about them, for She's All That they stand out as enjoyable and believe it or not relatable. Undeniably enjoyable. 8/10
