By far the best entry in the trilogy. This is how you adapt a comic book story as well known as Batman to a game while being faithful to the original work. How Rocksteady achieved that, is a mystery to me. All in all, amazing atmosphere and attention to details.

Controls and mechanics are quite aged and I should have to give it a 7 if I have to rate it as a game, but no, because the story, music, atmosphere, design philosophy, psychological aspect and symbolism made up for the whole game. This is not merely a game, but art. A true work of art and masterpiece that fully deserves its reputation as one of the best games of all times.

Many games are overrated. But not this one. I don't even like exploration or survival games in general, but this game is one of the best games I've ever played because of its incredible atmosphere and sound design. This is not a horror game, but the concept of being alone underwater, heading into the unknown where you don't know what lies ahead, is very terrifying. Playing this game triggered my thalassophobia hard, but overcoming the fear and forcing myself to go on gave me one of the best gaming experience I've ever had. The story is fantastic - I need to mention this because many open-world and survival games have horrible storylines. (In fact, I could count games in this genre with good stories on one hand.) I obviously will not spoil the story in this review but reaching the ending was a very satisfying feeling! Story in this game has a very natural flow and is not forced upon you. There are objectives, but no missions to speak of. You can do your own thing exploring the world, and complete the story only when you want to. Map design is great as well. All biomes are already there from the beginning and are not "locked" per se, like in other games where you can't go to a new area because **** or something, but you are gently nudged towards your destination because of the well-written storyline and the lack of suits/tools to explore the new biome. UWE has created a truly unique gem that stands out in the sea of survival games (no pun intended) and they should be proud of their accomplishment. Remember to play with headphones on to "feel" the water around you. Some of my minor nitpicks: 1. No multi-monitor support which would be perfect for an atmospheric game like this, but understandable due to the devs prioritising other issues over this feature which only a few people can take advantage of. 2. Texture pop-in is horrible in this game. Not only is the pop-in annoying, it breaks immersion too. 3. Inventory management is bad and is one of the most criticised aspect of this game along with the texture pop-in issue. If you Google "inventory management Subnautica" you will see thousands of search results.

I like to compare this game to Subnautica, which is one of my all-time favourite games. This game, like Subnautica, is a relaxing exploration and survival game. But unlike Subnautica, it is set in the real world, with a focus on survival in the wilderness which is a great idea. Sadly, it suffers from poor execution and a mediocre storyline. The most interesting part of the game will be the first 50 hours because you are still figuring everything out and try to not die, but after you reach the end-game you will get bored very quickly, since the map is fairly small (although it takes a lot of time to travel through it) and there are no more things left to do or items to craft. There are only a measly 6 kinds of animals in this game, which is frankly pathetic (I do not usually use this word, but I can't help it), considering that wilderness is the theme of this game. I do not recommend playing this game in long sessions because you will just get fed up and not want to play it again. Trust me ;) However, it is a very relaxing experience if you only play it in short bursts during winter.

Good game but obviously a very lazy port. The game launches in windowed 1280x720 display settings, with no way to change it until you get past the 10-minute-long tutorial first which is super annoying. Language cannot be changed in game - I have to search online for a solution and found out that it only be changed in Steam settings or by editing the setting .ini file. In 2019. Seriously. I love the game, but these issues left a bad taste in my mouth.

Not sure what this "game" is about, if it can even be called one. There is no point/objective in this game. The only "aim" is perhaps to collect all the stuff in the world, but the process is very boring. The only thing to do in this game is to move around or ascend/descend then search for stuff you haven't met before, rinse and repeat. I like philosophy but I don't see any connection between the game and the quotes. I uninstalled after an hour.

Story is non-existent, graphics and art style are ok if they are your cup of tea. Not mine though. I have no interest in the 80s-esque purple palette, 8-bit look and "vaporwave" music (ugh I freaking hate this term). The game is basically an endless trial-and-error process... So after the 100th time you finally cleared the stage but you would feel "relief", not "satisfaction", and you would think to yourself "why did I spend so much time on this damn thing..." There are some notable control issues as well. For example you often get killed by enemies outside the screen. Perhaps this is intended by the developers but I don't understand what the point is. I mean, the enemies can see you so it makes no sense you can't see them. The worst is the awkward aiming/rotation issue - you can't melee enemies if they are close to you. In fact I've died many times from this way. On another note, It's very easy to miss with the guns and throw weapons because of the aforementioned aiming issue and the tininess of the projectile path (without exaggeration it's just a thin line), but enemies have 100% accuracy and will kill you with one bullet so it's pretty unfair. Weapons are hard to pick up and they sometimes get stuck under walls and furnitures... And these are just the few of them. If you are a masochist, there are other interesting and difficult games that actually give you satisfaction when you complete them so I find no point playing this game.

Very fun game even to a strategy and FPS-hater like me. The game features a lot of different environments between missions, but I do think the difficulty between them varies too much. Some missions are so unreasonably hard there's no way you can get through it without casualties for the first time, especially Mission 3: Stone Bell and Mission 10: Fever Claw. My favourite mission by far is Mission 11: Dream Knife for its stealth element :) UI is very user-friendly. I like the futuristic realism setting of the story and how it predicts the war in 2008! The game still holds up very well almost 20 years later. I wish the game were a bit longer, but because it has such great level design, you will not get bored from repeating the game.

One of the best first installation of an action adventure series in recent years, adapted from comics no less! The freeflow combat system, originated from the AC series, is already perfected in this first game. You also get some gadgets for personalised fighting styles. Scripted stealth events and investigations are more emphasised in the first game during which you have to use the Detective Mode for clues, but the Mode is so powerful (you can see through all obstacles, find all the thugs in the room and the clues are highlighted) that I think all players spend most of time in it. As much as I love this game, I have to give this game 9 instead of 10 because of this flaw. Fortunately it is tuned down in the sequel. Graphics and controls are very nicely optimised for PC. This game might not be as polished as its sequel Arkham City, but it is ultimately a better game IMO. The way I see it, Asylum is made for hardcore Batman fans while City is made for mainstream gamers. You get a bunch of references of the Arkham Asylum comic. The attention to detail is amazing, like the art style and animations of the characters, which are very faithful to the original work. The game is dark and is designed to make you feel isolated and helpless in a locked down Asylum. City doesn't have the same atmosphere. Also, Asylum's level design is better than City's, which is a great example why open world doesn't work as well as closed world IN MOST CASES (read, I said "in most cases". Biggest doesn't always mean better. Only in a few limited cases open world works out, which sadly only consists of a tiny percentage of the number of open world games.). In the end though, both are great games so you should play them both. Paul Dini did a great job on the script of both games.

Have been waiting for this for years! I finished the trilogy within 2 weeks. I've always wanted to play the trilogy since the GBA series was very popular back in the days where I lived, but I don't want to buy a console, so the PC port is a godsend. I am glad they included both languages in this version. It makes much more sense to play the game in Japanese if you speak it since the script is so funny and pun-filled. It's one of the few games that made me burst out laughing. "ナルホドーが扉をコワした!間違いありませんか!" "そのようなアレは、困る。" The game itself is obviously great - the original trilogy has a great reputation for a reason, but really this is just a simple (or perhaps lazy) port so it has more than a few faults. Firstly, running the game in resolutions other than 1920x1080 makes the game blurry/fuzzy. I don't understand why this happens, since the game only consists of simple images and text. Secondly, it's missing a lot of features compared with other classic PC visual novels, like the backlog function (the biggest flaw of this port IMO, when I hit Enter too fast and missed the previous dialogue I have to replay from the save again), music player function, skip (if already read) function, auto advance function, a proper fast forward function (the fast forward function in the game is far too slow), gallery/CG viewer. Thirdly, the save selection screen is badly designed. Saves should be displayed in 2 columns and make use of the screen estate. Talking about save, 10 save slots is unacceptable for a PC visual novel since disk space should not be a problem. There should be 50 slots IMO. Since every episode is so long, I felt that they should have split each episode into few sections, like "1st Day - Detective", "1st Day - Trial", "2nd Day - Detective", "2nd Day - Trial - Part 1"... etc. Once the player have cleared the episode he should be able to select and play from his favourite section. Finally I think there should be a bonus mode which features all the characters' models (emotions/gestures/animation) and voices, and staff credits for each game. I want to watch the credits again for the epilogue but I don't want to play again from the beginning. The game's barebone state can be frustrating sometimes, but in the end it's still very fun to play thanks to its cleverly written story and script and updated graphics. Whether you've played it or not, I am sure you will enjoy it.

I didn't expect much from this game, but once I started it I was so surprised by its quality. I don't use the word perfect easily but this game might be the best game I've seen in years. Amazing writing, visuals and atmosphere. This game's animations (mocap) is also the best I've seen in a game. The best example is the cutscene in mountain village, where an injured Roth asked Lara to take his axe and climb the radio tower. Lara did not speak much, but her facial expression tells you how much she hated that request. I did not give this game a 10, because I feel a bit conflicted about this game's use of "Tomb Raider" as its title. On one hand it is indeed one of the best action-adventure games and a worthy reboot for the dated series, on the other hand it has no "tombs" to speak **** tombs are just mini-puzzles and have nothing to do with the main story. IMO, they should have used a new title since the game has nothing to do with the "originals" anyway.

A flawed masterpiece - with beautiful visuals and music, but sadly the gameplay and story fall short. Running in this game is supposed to be a liberating experience but because of the game's lack of guidelines/objective, you have to die many times to find a way to progress, and ultimately the game becomes a frustrating chore. Story is interesting, but sadly it is far too short and the ending is too abrupt. The game can be finished within a few hours and has no replayability. From what I know, this game was rushed out, which is why it is so short and contains so many bugs. Very unfortunate as this game had a huge potential to be a classic.

This is a beautiful horror game and most importantly it is VERY Japanese. 12 years ago this game actually motivated me to learn Japanese because I wanted to understand the plot. After I got quite fluent I watched the playthrough again and appreciated it much more because of all the puns as well as elements related to Japanese culture and history. I think it's very unfortunate when people do not understand Fatal Frame games because of cultural differences. I would say it's worth to learn Japanese for this game :) On the game itself, 2 is the most unique and perhaps most beautiful entry out of the 3 PS2 FF games in my opinion. 1. It's quite easy compared with 1 and 3. (Difficulty wise it's 3>1>2) Camera also lacks charging mechanism. 2. It's not as scary and claustrophobic. Except for a few levels...like the black and white chasing sequences... 3. Colour palette is more vivid and warmer than the two other games. 4. It's about sisterly love, while 1 and 3 are about loss of loved ones, sorrow and agony. 5. The ending is perhaps one of the most famous in video game history. It's legendary for a reason. You have to play the game to watch it for yourself. I thought (and still think) that there is no place for songs with vocal in a game unless they are ballads, but "Chou" by Amano Tsukiko changed my opinion. There is a reason people still pick the original PS2 game over the remake including myself. Not only gameplay mechanism is better and characters look more authentic (because of the unnecessary face job, Mio and Mayu in the remake look artificial, almost like dolls), but the perfect blend of the intro of the song and ending movie created the most shocking, haunting and beautiful PS2 game experience, while the Wii ending does not evoke the same feeling. **I read the other reviews and no one mentioned the amazing atmosphere or the plot? What the hell?! Is the English version lost in translation that's why no one cares for it?

This is the scariest horror game ever, period. Music and story are also good, although these are not usually talked about in reviews. My complaints are mainly the awkward and sometimes frustrating controls, short length of the game and lack of explanation on certain part of the story. They could have made use of the setting and lengthen the game to tell us more about the main characters and background of Shadow and Orbs. However considering that this is an indie game made by 6 people, I think the devs did a very great job. I highly recommend it.

Gameplay wise this game is very revolutionary. I think most people agree that it's the first action-adventure TPS with perfected gameplay, puzzles and aiming system. Since there are a few modes you can unlock after finishing the main story, you can spend hours and hours until game completion. (I bet if the game was released nowadays you would have to pay to unlock the extra modes as DLC) Not to mention replayability is excellent - no wonder why people are still playing it 10 years ago after its release! Now let's be honest. I love RE4 gameplay wise, but story wise it's horrible. 1. STORY IS **** It took place in Spain, has nothing to do with Umbrella and zombies. 2. This isn't even horror. It's just a shooting game. You never run out of ammo and there are no scares either. This game should be released as a one-off side story, never as Resident Evil 4. I absolutely loved the setting of the demo - it has that eerie and claustrophobic atmosphere of previous RE games and pretty interesting settings (took place in a locked down castle, hallucinations from infection etc). RE4 really wasted the opportunity to be a proper RE sequel, which is a huge shame. This game is also where the series went downhill. Because it is so successful, Capcom tried to remake this action-without-horror-TPS spinoff twice (as sequels again, no less) and failed miserably. How surprising.

Story is easier to follow than Limbo's, yet it's another anticlimax ending... Anyway, compared with Limbo, graphics is much more polished and is the best part of the game. There is also more diversity in the environment. This game feels more like a film especially in the final 20 minutes of the game. Giving this a 7 because like Limbo, this game is very overpriced. This original and the best open world game needs no introduction. It has the best details of all games I've seen, amazing variety of Gashapon, all characters including pedestrians are voiced and have unique lines which change according to your progress. I wonder how many players even managed to hear 50% of the total dialogues? Anyway let's get to the flaws. Slow pacing is a very obvious flaw of this game. You spend hours and hours on this game doing missions and mini-games, yet the story is still getting nowhere. The long loading screen after every map transition also doesn't help at all. Quality of the game gets worse towards the end of the game. The trend started at the end of disc 3. The dungeon is so unnecessarily long playing the game becomes a chore. More pronounced is disc 4 where Shenmue 2 gets very strange. It becomes a cinematic game. There is no fight, you just walk and talk for hours, wondering if the conversations are going to end. Then immediately after arriving at your destination you get to the shocking ending. I think that's when the developers realised they were developing for a dead console so they just decided to get it over with. I can't blame them, yet I can't help but feel the ending is a let down after such an epic journey.

Interesting idea. This is a sci-fi game set in the modern times about conspiracy disguised as a history game. The philosophy about order vs free will is also quite thought provoking. Unfortunately other than the map, the game didn't make use of the High Middle Ages/Islamic Golden Age setting at all. We didn't even get to see Saladin or the Saracens. Gameplay is so repetitive and the kill-everyone-then-kill-your-boss-too plot is so clichéd that I had to force myself through the game. Thankfully developers learned their mistakes and made AC2 into a much better game and one of the best games in recent years. P.S. You need a controller to play this game.

Let me put the DRM aside and review the game since I pirated it (thanks to Ubisoft and its great DRM). As a history freak this is one of my favourite triple A action adventure games in recent years. One of the most unforgettable settings in a video game - Renaissance, Da Vinci, the Church, Florence, Venice... Music is also made by my favourite composer Jesper Kyd who contributed a lot to the AC series. The whole game is designed for the console though so the control scheme on KB/M is pure **** (unless you want to kill your left pinky), couldn't play it without a controller, though I prefer playing action games with a controller so I was OK with it. Graphics is optimised for the console so if you don't have a 16:9 monitor you get a letterbox on the screen...Well, what did I expect from Ubisoft? If you are going to play just one AC game, this is it. But you don't have to go through the collectibles since they are pointless time wasters. Just go through the story and you're done with the game. I really don't like the collectibles for achievements trend, to be honest.

Ninja Gaiden Black was originally a 9 but I have to give this port a 7.5. Itagaki Tomonobu, original developer of Ninja Gaiden refused to talk about this port and said it has nothing to do with him. The biggest issues I can think of: 1. They removed some of the puzzles but added pointless fillers. I especially HATED the Rachel levels. They don't add anything to the story and she is a pain in the ass to use. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. 2. Difficulty is toned down A LOT. Taking away the game's biggest selling point made it much more boring. 3. Lag issue in a high-paced action game is pretty unforgivable. The port is not bad per se (certainly not as bad as NGS2) and I think of it positively but I'd much rather play Black because it is smoother and much more challenging.

I know this game divided people because of the combat system but at least it tried to be original. My point is people didn't like this game because of the system but because of the art style, pre-rendered animations, music and story. Art style: Not exactly futuristic, not exactly steampunk, not exactly fantasy, but it's beautiful and unforgettable. There hasn't been another fantasy game with such unique art style since FF8. Animations: Far ahead of its time but I bet everyone has already watched the OP and cutscenes so I don't need to mention that. I strongly feel that the lack of voice in cutscenes is a blessing because voice would break the immersion IMO. Music: Nobuo Uematasu. Need to say more? "Eyes On Me" is also the best theme song in the history of video game. Story: Again, this divided a lot of people because the story is more sci-fi than fantasy, but I am an open-minded person and I like how unique it is. It also goes from mind-twisting to one of the most satisfying endings in video game history :)

I had a lot of things to say about this game but can't find the words. I am so glad I can speak Japanese because this is one of the most unique experience I had from a video game*. Still remember the moment when "The Sun Rises" played at the final boss fight. I almost cried because the music is so beautiful. *The English version is fine, but you'd miss out on the puns and backstories of characters. For example, Okami can be written as 大神/Great God or 狼/Wolf which is why they made Amaterasu a wolf in the game.

Best racing game of all time and it's not only because of the racing itself. It has great graphics, good story, that special "chic" atmosphere and memorable acid jazz soundtrack. If you enjoyed this game, you HAVE to buy the soundtrack along with it for the best experience.

This is a good game and a worthy successor of Burnout 3, but little issues here and there bother me a lot. Open world sounds fun, but is in fact the biggest mistake of this game IMO. It means you have to stare at the map all the time when you're racing so you can't focus on what's happening on the screen. The best element of Burnout 3 - Aftertouch got removed. You have to buy extra DLCs for a bunch of cars that aren't included in THE ULTIMATE BOX. Don't call it ULTIMATE if you aren't including all DLCs in it! The pop punk soundtrack is still annoying. That said, I enjoyed it a lot. Very disappointed hat EA is not going to let Criterion make another Burnout game.

Incredibly innovative game that captured the attention of even the most casual gamers. This game brought virtual pet to a whole new level: you are not managing a pet but families of human and you can even build your own house and live your dream in it. I think you can even say that this the game that broke the gender barrier. Without this game, there might not be as many female gamers as there are now.

I want to like this game but can't because 1. Controls are clunky as hell. You can't really control what you want to do, where togo and have to figure out the next step by moving the mouse around. 2. I hate kids. I can't bear baby screams. 3. I am an atheist. Sorry that you have to resort to faith but I don't care about your god who loved your child so much he killed him. 4. Most people can't relate to this game thus it is unenjoyable. When I was playing it most of the time I don't even understand what I am doing or what the message is about. Sorry to say this but in my opinion the developers are very self-centered, whether they realised it or not.

First thing - I don't know why, but this is one of the few games that made me motion sick. I am prone to motion sickness on travel (I puke every single time on a long-distance bus), but playing FPS games seldom make me sick. This is the first game that made me dizzy within a minute and I had to stop playing it. I bet it's because of the motion blur and the lack of HUD. Anyway that's why I've only watched a walkthrough and didn't play the game. No complains about the Unreal Engine 4 graphics, shame you cannot interact with the environment more. Little details like voice acting and animations need to be polished up. Still, I think we should support the indie developers. Idea of the game is quite interesting and I'd like to more games like this.

Since I heard a lot of good things about this game, which was compared to the AC and Batman Arkham series I was surprised that I couldn't like it. Uninstalled after a day. To be honest the only good thing is the graphics. This game steals a lot of ideas from other games, tried to be everything but it ends up being nothing. Combat, map, story, characters, upgrade system - everything - is generic as hell. This game proves that mixing all the good things up doesn't make the result better. I especially can't stand looking at the same landscape throughout the 10 hours of play time. The whole time I was thinking, can't you make the colour palette more pleasant to the eye, or at least make the view less boring? I don't want to see some random castles or towers on my screen all the time! The only original element is probably the nemesis system which sounds awesome on paper but doesn't contribute to the fun element of the game. It doesn't even have much to do with LOTR, so why set this in Tolkien's universe?

The combat system is more polished than AC2, but everything else is worse. Rome doesn't have the charm of Florence and Venice. All the interesting characters either died or disappeared. Story is boring. They should have ended the Ezio story in this game, but seeing that Ubisoft is the developer this is not impossible, of course.
