Mixtape is basically a series of interactive needle drops that are honestly hard to even call gameplay. Sometimes they work, sometimes they really don’t, but most of the time I just wanted to listen to the music without sound effects constantly covering the songs or tracks getting cut off way too quickly. In the end, the only things that really stand out are the art direction and the soundtrack, but those songs are already classics, so how much credit does the game actually deserve for that? The story and characters are forgotten about five minutes after putting the controller down, and after these three hours there’s barely anything left to think about. Which is a shame, because the trailers genuinely got my hopes up. I lived through that era and I’m really attached to a lot of the artists featured in the game, so I was probably the ideal audience for something like this. Instead, I ended up feeling like I had just played one of the most pointless walking simulators I’ve touched in a long time. The biggest issue is that the interactions add basically nothing to the story. Comparing it to What Remains of Edith Finch or even Florence really shows the gap. Those games used gameplay, even when abstract or extremely simple, to reinforce emotion and storytelling in genuinely smart ways. Here, the interactions feel like they were added afterwards just because someone was scared of making an animated short instead ****. Honestly, it probably would have worked better that way. I played it through Game Pass so I didn’t even pay for it directly, but seeing the game priced at 20 euros honestly feels kind of insane for what’s here.

Graphic is really good and they perfectly got the Indiana Jones old movies vibes. Unfortunately the gameplay is awful and tedious, dumb combat encounters, boring puzzles. Vatican map is nice but then it's just going down from there.

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition

Ori and the Blind Forest shines brilliantly in its art style and musical composition, setting a high bar with its artistic direction that is nothing short of exceptional. However, when it comes to gameplay, it falls short of expectations. The combat feels monotonous, often boiling down to repetitive button pressing, and rather than traditional boss battles, it opts for escape sequences that can lead to frustration due to their trial-and-error nature. Despite not being a lengthy game, it struggles to maintain engagement, becoming tiresome well before reaching its conclusion. It's truly regrettable that such remarkable artistic talents were dedicated to a game that doesn't quite match up in other areas.

The game would be a fun one, unfortunately the Switch version's frame rate is extremely bad. Most of the game is laggy but barely playable, during the bosses things got worst and it's very frustrating. I hope they will hire some porting expert to make a proper release since it would be really the perfect Switch game but is really hard to suggest the current version. Wait or buy on other console.
