Aside from the whole "You play as a cat!" standpoint, this is an actual game, a very high quality game at that. There are optional tasks, good gameplay and mechanics, decent story and characters, and beautiful visuals and sound design. It's a bit on the shorter side, taking around 6 hours tops to beat. Definitely a no-brainer if you play it with PS+ Extra.

Resident Evil 7: biohazard9

The next-gen patch for RE7 seems to be much better than RE2 and RE3. I haven't noticed any fps dips in the RT mode.
The dualsense features have a barebones implementation just like RE8, meaning you get trigger resistance while shooting (and while aiming with a non-pistol weapon) but no specific haptic feedback.
The advertised 3D audio feature seems to be here to some extent, but again it's not that noticable and I couldn't compare it to the PS4 release.
As mentioned by Capcom, there are no additional story content. Overall, a decent free upgrade. I've had issues with transferring my saves, where a noticeable number of trophies didn't activate. That seems to be due to low number of save files I had, as they didn't cover all the required trophy flags.

The RT mode seems much more stable than the RE2 patch, but the framerates still have some noticable dips in specific areas.

Although Capcom mentions there are no additional content, I have noticed a couple of lines of dialogues in Jill and Carlos' first interaction; I've seen some changes in the background of the final scene (the 2nd helicopter being missing). Overall, nothing crazy.

The RT mode really kills the game's framerates; it does look visually better, but runs very poorly. With RT mode off, you get a solid 60fps (just like the PS4 version running on PS5) and the option of 120fps target which I couldn't test myself. The dualsense features have a barebones implementation just like RE8, meaning you get trigger resistance while shooting (and while aiming with a non-pistol weapon) but no specific haptic feedback.

Also there are no additional content, as mentioned by Capcom.

Absolutely deplorable controls. It feels like the devs considered playability beneath their artistic vision of what the game represents; or this is a deliberate choice. In any case, a beautiful looking game with presumably good story shouldn't be painful to actually PLAY. Also wish they'd remove the 30fps cap for PS5.

Every single frame of this game is a piece of art. There are also cool platforming ideas throughout.
This was the only game that I liked even more after going the trophy-hunting route.
Highly recommend it.

A fun, simple game. But this is a mobile game, with mobile port being free and with better controls. The controls on this version are horrible in comparison, but still playable I guess.

It goes down to preference in some cases such as boss OSTs, but this game is otherwise better than any other souls game in almost every way. This is one of those games that feels you with extreme joy of how good it's made. The invasions are a bit messed up because of exploits people currently do; other than that, GOD TIER game. Thank you, Miyazaki!

This was one of my first, if not THE first exposure to graphic violence in video games. The game's made quite well and I like it; it's moody, scary and all that good horror game stuff. But after playing it recently, it's easy to see that the controls are quite dated. For that reason, I can't recommend playing it today.

For some reason, this is the only major RE game on PS4 without a Platinum trophy; But it's still RE4, so it's not the end of the world.

The remake itself is quite decent, minus some exceptions. My main problem is with the marketing around the game. 1- It is not worth $70 2- There are timed or pay-wall exclusive in-game items that are not otherwise obtainable 3- It doesn't improve on the original game in any meaningful ways; although makes good use of PS5 bells and whistles, enough to satisfy new owners of the console 4- The release window and console shortages killed off the multiplayer activity too soon

Decent concept for story and interesting gameplay. Character models look horrendous, as is the case with a lot of Unity games. I played it on PS5 and it stutters for a couple of frames every few seconds; It's honestly very painful to look at, and got me feel sick. I managed to get along with it but this issue never stopped throughout the game.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain6

The game runs so well, and plays and looks very decent. But I couldn't manage to make myself enjoy the game and not get tired of the gameplay loop. I haven't played any other games of the franchise and as a result, don't have any memories coming from Kojima games. I'm unfortunately the type of player that can't help himself but to explore and do everything a game has to offer. In the case of MGSV, that'll be all missions, side missions and practice challenges. I find the gameplay loop of calling a chopper, selecting the research stuff, crafting upgrades, listening to mission briefing, selecting the mission gear, etc. a bit too lengthy and tedious. I'm only 20ish hours into the game but I already feel kinda tired of checking mostly generic objectives off of a single map. I find it strange that every one of these generic missions has a director, and the list of characters featured in it; again, I'm not familiar with Kojima and how he does things, but this aspect of the game didn't appeal to me. Seemed to me they're too proud of every aspect of the game. I tried to give the game another chance by playing fast and crazy; but the first side mission I selected to do this, I crossed a specific part of the map that triggered the introduction sequence of the assassin girl. The fight wasn't good and I spent the whole rest of the session watching cutscenes. I might desperately try playing the game again, but it's really unlikely to happen.

This game is criminally underrated, and it really makes me sad how no one's talking about it. The concept of investigating a ranch for a mass suicide sure seemed strange to make a game out of; but I'm happy to say they managed to make the gameplay work quite well. The game takes around 3-3.5 hours to beat (2-2.5 if you're not as slow as me lol) and fully explore. My whole experience with this game was memorable and I highly recommend playing it. Also, getting the platinum trophy is super trivial, if it matters to you.

I was really let down by what they did with RE3R, but this almost made me forget all that. Similar to RE2R, you can feel the amount of care and passion put into this game. I really liked the gameplay, the story, and the performance (provided you turn off the ray-tracing). I have no problem saying I like this game almost as much as RE4. To put into perspective, this is my top 5 for RE games: RE4, RE8, RE2R, RE1R, RE7

Tormented Souls10

I usually watch streams for these kinds of horror games, but for some reason, this flew under my radar; and oh boy, I'm so thankful that I got to experience it myself. This game clearly has some nods to original RE games, especially RE1, and Silent Hill 2/3. It excels in everything that made those games iconic and does a lot more. This includes but is not limited to: game atmosphere, puzzles, and story. The amount of highly polished content you get for your purchase is insane. So do support these guys if you're into classic survival horror titles like the ones I mentioned. **Mild Spoilers Ahead** They nailed the sound design, atmosphere, and the PUZZLES! I find the puzzles in this game miles better than both RE and SH puzzles. The story was very well constructed and everything neatly came together in my opinion, you might be able to guess some plot points earlier but I didn't find it to be that much of an issue. I find the voice acting to be somewhat bad in a way that makes it charming, similar to RE1, so I actually liked this part about the game. The only part which isn't good nor "too bad it's good" was the character animations in cutscenes; that said, they certainly don't annoy that much and there aren't that many cutscenes like that to begin with. Overall, I loved this game and it kinda pisses me off seeing how a lot of media outlets just passed by this masterpiece.

Dark Souls Remastered8

I kinda understand other people's complaints and that they consider the game to be a cash grab; However this was my first time playing a Dark Souls game (I've platinum trophy in both Sekiro and Bloodborne). My overall experience was very good, and my initial experience was the most painful I've ever had. This game had one of the worst first impressions and it made me hate my existence, however a lot of the frustrations I've encountered were avoidable by looking up on how to proceed in the game (which I definitely recommend). At first I wasn't so impressed with the visuals of the game, but pretty soon it grew in me and I honestly think the game looks beautiful; Not perfect, but beautiful. The soundtrack other than 2 or 3 tracks is not that special, and similar to other FromSoftware games you pretty much don't encounter any music except in boss fights. Speaking of boss fights; I don't really know if the fact that this is my 3rd "souls" game made me feel the bosses overall are not that ridiculously hard or they actually aren't that hard. In case of having poorly designed boss fights, rather being the fighting area or the attacks of the boss or just how to beat the boss, I would say the game has one such boss, which again one can look up a guide and it'll become simple. In any case, the main source of my deaths were not the bosses but the normal enemy types all around the map. There are enemies I absolutely despise, and areas I really don't like to explore; I'm now used to both beating the enemies and exploring the area, but the path to my current state was indeed somewhat painful. In general, is this game a masterpiece worthy of a remaster? I think yes, it kinda is. The whole map of the world in this game is impressively massive with a lot of attention to details. The lore, the NPCs, the weapons, the outfits are all interesting. One other thing about souls game, is you get rewarded for exploring the areas of the game and you will most of the times find something interesting and/or useful. So overall I do love this game and I can recommend playing it.
I can't give this game a 10/10 since:
1- my first impression was really painful (anyone else without using a guide will likely have the same painful initial experience) 2- There were some parts of the game that were not designed that well. Some areas, enemy types and 1 or 2 bosses. I also bought the game in discount and I'd totally recommend buying the game on a lower price.
With a small look on a guide and a somewhat high patience, the game will be a fun overall experience.
