Watched this film with my young daughter including 3D and D-Box. Hugely enjoyable with great action and fun. Plot is fairly thin but this is just another "alien/robots" film so didn't expect much more anyway. Highly recommended if you enjoy sci-fi but go an watch it very loud and in the pitch black!!

An outstanding film albeit dark, disturbing and uncomfortable to watch. Enjoying this film is tough and unlikely - but being moved by it is undoubted. It flits back and forth along a timeline which extends over years but really encapsulates the emotions (mostly that of hatred and despair) on display. Whilst at first it is difficult to comprehend exactly what is what, the film quickly begins to tie up the loose ends and places you directly in the centre of a maternal nightmare. Tilda Swinton is captivating in her performance whilst young Ezra Miller is haunting. Uncomfortable but essential viewing.

Enjoyable rom-com where Jack Nicholson is just outstanding once again. Comedy really is his forte due to his ability to introduce a tiny nuance into a scene, which just makes the scene so believable and alive, Great watch even if you only watched it for him ... but rest of it is good too. Wilson's character is annoying after a while 0 but that just could be the acting rather than character!

What a gripping film by way of storytelling related to complex relationships. Isle of Man - where it is set - looks stunning as it always does cinematically. Sebastian Koch and Felicity JOnes put in convincingly strong performances, but for me it is Jessica Brown Findlay who steals the show. Her acting is powerful - intrinsic fragility played to a subtle perfection, overlayed with her more obvious portrayal of a beguiling young women at odds with her past and lack of a future. A true indie gem which must be watched if you enjoy depth of character and plot.

Astounding. Period drama with real teeth and depth. Oldman, Cumberbatch, Strong and Toby Jones are wonderful. Disappointed with Firth for first time in ages. Upstaged in TTSS by stronger actors. If you like slow-burning spy dramas - akin to The Good Shepherd - then this will be right up your street.

Incredible film with Gosling showing why he is one of film's hottest properties right now. His portrayal as a sensitive individual with a mean dark side is perfectly played. His awkward charm is juxtaposed by his visceral temper. Awesome! Carey Mulligan brings a delicate awkwardness to her role which dovetails well with Gosling's quasi-pyscho nature. Although she is mainly in the background, her character is integral to the emotional development of Gosling's character. This is up there with Pulp Fiction and Natural Born Killers in terms of cult classics. Unforgettable film which will stick in my memory for a long time.

Predictable, fun and with a heartfelt story but Jackman's acting let's it down. Young boy actor had a great personality and basically carried the film in my eyes, Surprised that Jackman's acting was so sub-par as usually enjoy him in pretty much anything. Disappointed.

A good film with nice character portrayal despite some ineffective and cringeworthy South African accents. The action however portrays vividly and representatively the dangers involved in being a photographer t that tie in South Africa' bloody past. The streets were awash with brutal tribalism and senseless killing. The press of the time were incredibly brave and often irresponsible in their pursuit of the ultimate photo and associated acclaim. The 4 photographers depicted in the film are all heroes and more importantly, professionals of their art.

What an inspired gem of a film. Fantastic acting - some of the best I have had the pleasure of watching in years. Unique plot and story with some great humour. But overall a dark drama with undertones which you can never quite see, but can certainly feel. The film starts scratching a bit deeper below the surface, and this is when it really keeps you captivated. I just wish more people would watch it and experience the clever directing of Campanella. Forget the subtitles ... I would rather "read" a great film, than watch a mediocre one any day!

Astounding film with great story and fantastic setting. The magic feel and adventure of a circus was brought to life on screen in such a surreal manor. There was not a moment in which I wasn't transfixed to the screen whether it be due to the beautiful cinematography and depiction of the animals, or the way in which the story just motored along from half way through. The film reminded me so much of Titanic by James Cameron in it pacing and evolution of plot. It was great to see Robert Pattinson in a new role and I think that he really did his character justice - although he is not a scrapper by any means! Reese Witherspoon continues to be a hugely intelligent and believable actress when she gets a serious role. By the end of the film the relationship of the 2 protagonists was very believable. But actor of the film for me was certainly Chrsitopher Wlatz who is now a Hollywood gem after this and Inglorious Basterds. Highly recommended film for thos ehwo want something a bit different but still captivating and mainstream.

Great little film and probably Ewan McGregor's best in years. Portrays significant depth of emotional and sociological ideals such as growing old, finding love and dealing with inner demons. So may layers are peeled back slowly throughout the film, allowing the viewer to really feel each characters pain and burdens. Melanie Laurent shows herself to be a true gem, and a talent of the future.

Good film - slow burner but I thought that the pacing was spot on for what is an historical period drama. I never even knew about the intrigue behind Lincoln's assassination so this was a learning experience for me. Great to see Robin Wright Penn and Toby Kebbell in a film again - great, undervalued actors of the current film generation. Highly recommended.

It's truly difficult to dislike this film. It's harmless fun with a decent story and some seriously funny bits. Short and sweet, and could have done with another 30 minutes or so. But rather watch a film wanting more, than struggle through something which feels like it never ends! Very much in the vain of Pineapple Express cross The Hangover. Jesse Eisenberg pulls off funny quite well ... and look out for classic line relating The Social Network - hilarious. McBride and Swardson do what they do best - silly. But the standout for me was Ansari who was very funny and has a thousand different facial expressions. I would buy this on blu-ray for those Friday nights when you are looking for a good laugh.

Great film for kids and adults alike with generous amount of humour, pause for thought and the now obligatory "Disney moral story" over-arching plot. All these fantastically animated films are just modern extensions of Aesop's Fables which we read as kids in the 70's and 80's ... and many people probably read before that. My little one of 7 loved the vivid colours and change of destination from stereotypical USA-ville to Brazil. Along with the vivid colours came an abundance of questions from her related to jungles, the Rio Carnival, birds of flight and non etc ... so, really I missed out on the depth of the film and need to watch it again :) ... any excuse really to enjoy it again. Better than the likes of Up and Megamind for me personally ... but not quite there with Despicable Me, Rango and Toy Story/MOnsters Inc.

Could have been worse ... should have been better. Redeeming features: Idris Elba, Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth. Disappointing: poor acting by Anthony Hopkins (never thought I would say that but the role was too empty for him), unimpressed by Tom Hiddleston as Loki, whilst Kat Dennings was too under-utilised. She is an excellent young actress who only got a bit part. Less God of Thunder, and more God of Drizzle.

What a great film. If you loved American Beauty and Click (Adam Sandler) then this should be your cup of tea. Funny whilst being poignant, light-hearted whilst heavy hitting. Carrell plays funny and serious to perfection - Emma Stone is as astounding as usual - Julianne Moore brings her usual class and understated elegance - Ryan Gosling is brilliant and is in every great film which is on at present (not coincidental) - and then there is the up-and-coming Analeigh Tipton who has such classic looks and revives the "Mena Suvari" character from American Beauty. You can't help but be pulled along by the film where not a minute goes by without something happening for a reason. There's no point where I felt it was dropping in intensity, whilst the twist near the end really does come from nowhere.

Great film where Jamie Bell once again proves himself as one of the World's most underrated actors. The film is there between Gladiator and things like Troy. Far better than Troy, Alexander etc with greater emotional ties to the characters and a more engaging story. Not as powerful or profound as Gladiator however. Went into the film with little expectations and was pleasantly surprised. The cinematography and scenic sets are breathtaking alone in High Def. Thoroughly enjoyable and watchable numerous times. This film Soars like the bird of prey it name-checks!

Great fun. I sense that critics won't give it the review it deserves as it is no Oscar contender, and doesn't make us think particularly hard about life after seeing it. But for us normal folk ... it is a great rom-com with outstanding symmetry and synergy between the leads. Kunis is her beautiful, breathtaking self but it's her acting which always impresses me. So natural and unforced with genuine amiable humour. Timberlake is really growing as a great actor who is able to inject a fair degree of depth into his character. A great story which makes you feel good ... or embarrassed when you realise that the tongue-in-cheek mocking of Hollywood rom-coms is in fact just mocking all those who watch it and think we will all experience the fairy tale at some stage! Most of us won't ... not with Mila anyway which makes me very sad!! :) Highly recommended

I loved this film ... and I am old enough to remember watching The Goonies when a youngster. This is Goonies for the modern generation but more visceral, surreal and serious. If I ignore the somewhat generic references and existence of an alien being, the actual character development and interaction is what appealed to me far more. And it was the kids whose acting made this film an intense watch, whilst all adult acting seemed to be purposefully dumbed down, or just truly lethargic and wooden in comparison. Elle Fanning is every bit as good a young actress as her sister Dakota, and really shone for me. As did the youngsters - Joel Courtney and Riley Griffiths. I sincerely hope that all 3 grow to become mainstays of future cinema like Michael Cera, Ellen Page, Freddie Highmore etc. All in all - a greatly entertaining film with possibly the MOST frightening and visceral sound design and FX I have ever heard at a cinema. One seen specifically took my breath away and actually instilled a sense of nervousness within me!

I'll admit I know less about the railways and railroading than Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock combined! So whether this was factually or technically accurate in reflecting the true nuances of railroading, I will never know and neither do I give a hoot. And it is probably for those reasons that I enjoyed this film. Denzel was his usual wily, knowledgeable character who plays the underdog who comes out smelling like champagne and roses. Chris Pine is proving himself to be an actor of class who brings a believable feel to his character. Beyond the obligatory America-centric fist pumping and show of corporate negligence, the film rolls on at a consistently fast pace with some novel ideas. This is no Speed - because it is better due to credible actors keeping this "on track" and making it a very enjoyable few hours of entertainment.

A great watch with some passionate performances from indie and mainstream actors/actresses. Kat Dennings is beautiful but also a fantastic actress who can portray a vast array of emotions. She is the next Ellen Page in my eyes. I liken this to Juno on acid washed down with a bottle of absinthe. Heart-warming and romantic with tragic characters making their way through mixed up lives. I cannot recommend highly enough if you enjoy films with layers and depth of story.

Absolutely loved this film. Very much similar to Inception but with added romance. Damon just looks and smiles like a Senator so this was a role made for him, whilst Blunt really blew me away in this with her impactful acting and deep character. I wanted to give this a 5 but the only thing which brought it down was a bit of the hammy acting by John Slattery (which was disappointing considering his strength in Mad Men). Another strong performance comes from Anthony Mackie. If you like a film which makes you think a bit, then this is a must watch

Good film overall but the rugby sequences are piss poor. They actually manage to make Jonah Lomu look small (compared to his actual size) and the story is very Hollywood, and a bit far removed from what actually happened behind the scenes. However - the message of David vs Goliath is aptly portrayed in a good enough fashion. Blu ray is far better witht the picture in picture director, actor and player commentary as it fills in a lot of the gaps which the film leaves.
