Ghost of Yotei4

It's hard to know where exactly to rate this game, but thinking about it overall it's hard to describe it as anything other than a huge disappointment when you look at it's predecessor. Overall where this game lets you down is the main story, the main character and the constant in your face messaging from the game. Just to give you an overall view comparing this game to what came before GoT starts with you riding into a huge battle with your fellow Samurai and GoY starts with you struggling to kill a drunk old man. Pros: Basically everything this game borrows from Ghost of Tsushima. I thought at first maybe the game deserves a higher score because of the production quality and what it borrows from the game it's built on, but GoT does almost everything better and honestly you're better off just playing that game. The game does look amazing though and the combat is as fun as the previous game generally. The new weapons don't add a lot they are kind of cool, but the way the game locks you to using them for certain situations isn't great. GoT did something similar with stances, but I though that worked better than ridiculously switching weapons based on what your opponents have. The game adds bounties and wolf dens which are kind of fun side quests. Some bounties are interesting add a bit to the game. The main missions also have some "wow" moments though still another thing the previous game did better. Cons: The costume designs are unfortunately much worse than the previous game. The legends multiplayer mode is also nowhere near as good in this game with weaker rewards. The story is a mediocre revenge plot. Some of the characters you go after are interesting have their own quirks. Atsu is very annoying. She constantly thinks she's smarter than everyone even when she's wrong and rarely learns from her mistakes. The way the game has to remind you women are capable and men are bad over and over just knocks you out of the game. There are so many eye rolling moments in the game and it makes you feel like you're playing something more interested in social engineering than entertaining. The game also becomes predictable, because if a character is female they will be good and if they're male they will be bad or at least shown to be less capable. The game is open about it's misandry. As usual to when you point out this obvious fact people will claim you hate women, but I've played plenty of games with female characters and they didn't need to bash you over the head with messaging to be good characters. In the end the game had some good moments and it's built on a very strong foundation, but the direction they decided to go with the characters and story which is such a large part of the game it's hard not to feel completely let down by this game.

Ok its hard to say whether you will like this game or not. First off if you don't like Souls like games don't even touch this game. Even if you do like those sort of games I know there will be some things that will piss you off. The biggest are probably level design and the lack of varying enemies. The camera was a big problem early on, but credit to the dev team they've made some changes and while its still not perfect I find it les janky than before. Take that with a grain of salt maybe it's the placebo effect and people telling me its improved I believed it but it does seem better to me. So to start with the negatives. You will get lost. A lot. If you're like me the way they structured the maps and the way some environments are designed I found myself hopelessly lost in this game more than any other souls like period. Part of it is the Umbral realm mechanic where the world has different aspects if you die or use the lamp you are provided some of it is just level design. The other is that the game probably needed more time to develop more enemies. You will find yourself fighting similar opponents through much of the game. The positive now. If you love Dark Souls like me this game scratches that itch so well. It feels like another Dark Souls game and captures the atmosphere, mechanics, gear etc so well from those games. It feels like a love letter o the series. There is a lot to love and generally I have to say my experience with this game is more good then bad despite it being a bit of a slog. I think generally if you enjoy these types of games you will have a good time and you could probably pick it up on a sale now anyways,

A really fun metroidvania game that is also fairly punishing. If you don't like difficult games then its not for you, but its also pretty satisfying. Coming from a lot of Souls games this really hit the mark. The music, atmosphere and overall theme of the game is bleak and dark, but it makes the experience very rich and fascinating to playthrough. I recently purchased the sequel and I'm looking forward to playing through it.

As someone who loves souls games I thought I would be up for the challenge of Sifu, but it really didn't hit the mark. The idea of a kung fu centered game seemed awesome and the first few hours in the game were really fun, but you quickly realize thats really all there is too it. The game is only really about 5 hours long and what makes it longer is basically repeating each area perfectly so the games aging mechanic doesn't hinder you towards the end of the game. As I mentioned I love Souls games so I'm willing to slam my head against the wall for hours to beat a particularly tough boss or level, but you have to make it worth while and fun. Sifu mostly makes it feel like a waste of time and that's why I can't give it any higher than a 6/10 despite the combat is generally fun, and I like the overall atmosphere of the game.

Tired of weird propaganda infecting your game coming from a company that associates itself with babies for some reason? You won't find that BS here. Helldivers 2 is wall to wall action killing bugs and automatons. It's basically everything gamers have been asking for, for years and finally someone delivered. For MANAGED DEMOCRACY!!!!

Marvel's Spider-Man 24

Wow ok, so obviously Spider-Man and Venom have been favourites of mine for decades and I've read the comics for decades, but this game is just disappointing. I mostly enjoyed the first game, but this one is just frankly wearing a Spider-Man skinsuit while being something else entirely. I'm not sure what they did in 5 years some of those set piece action scenes require way more work than I thought or Insomniac has been seriously half-assing it. The game mechanics are mostly the same from the previous game, but with some tweaks some you might like better some you might not. If you've ever wanted to glide as Spider-Man I guess this is the one for you. Even the good things I can think about this game feel tainted. The only real stand outs are playing as Venom which is all of 30 minutes in the whole experience and the typical Spider-Man traversal is fun. there are also a surprising amount of boss fights in this game. Some work and some really don't. Also I have no idea why some boss fights have so many extra phases to them. Clearly someone has played Dark Souls and thought they should do that with Spider-Man. The problem is the second or third phases in Dark Souls games fighting bosses are justified with the boss gaining new abilities or changing the arena. Many boss fights in this game there is a quick cinematic then you are basically repeating the same fight. Not every time, but this happens enough to be annoying and it fells like they are just unnecessarily padding the game. A lot of this game feels like this since it is a very short game and there is actually not that much actual content here. There are a ton of costumes, but most **** and only a few really relate back to actual comic history. The story is mostly bad which is the biggest problem with Miles 100% hijacking the plot. I was fine with Miles having his own game I played it and it was ok, but let Peter have his game and Miles have his own if you're going to pull something like this. This game wants you to believe their equals when the whole game is Peter screwing up apologizing and Miles pulling his ass out of the fire. I think what hurts the most about this game is it feels nothing like Spider-Man. If you grew up with the comics and know the world and the characters these feel like imposters. The first game deviated from the comics which is fine to some degree, but this one just feels like a bad alternate universe.

Wow what an abomination Bethesda is truly lost. As someone who played through Fallout 3,4 New Vegas And Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim I can't believe how far this company has fallen maybe I should have seen it with Fallout 76, but I skipped it since I prefer the single player games. First lets talk about how truly broken this game is. I expected some jank and bugs after playing past Bethesda games usually they are more funny than anything. This time holy cow this game barely runs. I updated all my drivers and I am well above the recommended requirements for this game and still the game stutters and runs extremely poor. Then the game has terrible mechanics its basically a bad reskin of fallout. You can't even fly anywhere in ships they just hang there lifelessly and you have to fast travel to each planet so their is not space travel whatsoever. I mean I don't want to spend hours going around in space, but it would be nice to at least have some space travel in a game called Starfield. Mix all this and a good dose of modern day politics BS injected into the game and you have a total dumpster fire. I was looking forward to Elder Scrolls 6 whenever it eventually launches, but now I will be fore sure taking much more of a wait and see approach to all Bethesda games

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun8

Your armour in this game is literally contempt lol. I grew up a huge Warhammer Fantasy fan and occasionally dipped my toe in 40K, but never got super into it. Now that Games Workshop murdered Fantasy in favour of the trash that is AoS, it seems like 40K is all that is left. I have played a lot of terrible 40K and even Fantasy games like Darktide and Dawn of War 3, but Boltgun might be one of the strongest 40K games out there. It does feel a lot like classic Doom, but tossed into the 40K world which fits like a glove. The action is satisfying with a cool selection of weapons and enemies to blow them apart with. I do wish there were more Khorne daemons, but I guess you can;t have it all. This, the original Dawn of War, and Space Marine might be the best 40K games out there.

This is basically a big DLC for the first game. Even interesting characters like Sylens take a backseat as you interact with new characters and old ones that are equally cringey. Honestly I forgot how cringey the characters were in this game or maybe this sequel just made them worse I'm not sure. This one brings nothing new to the table and feels like a monotonous Ubisoft style grind game. The story is boring, the "action" is boring, basically the whole thing was boring. Seem like the only good Sony title left is Ghost of Tsushima. Better not screw that up since the sequel killed both TLOU and Horizon.

I was really hesitant about this game since I'm not a big XCOM guy and even though I am a huge Marvel comics fan I hate what Disney has done to the brand in recent years. After looking the game over seeing it was mainly a card game and that most of the recent "modern" Marvel characters didn't seem to be present I decided to give it a try. I'm happy to say I've had a really fun time with this game and its kept me occupied for a good while. The game basically comes down to two parts. There is the part where you hang out at the base as kind of a friend buddy simulator. I feel like this is the part people will either like or find annoying and hate. I generally liked this part even though its full or cringe dialogue and dumb hang outs its kinda fun still hanging out with some of my favorite Marvel characters. I guess I more found it hilarious you could go bird watching with Blade, but I can see why people hate this part of the game. The second part is the card game part where you essentially play a card around one of your Marvel characters they act it out and you go back and forth with either Hydra or some supernatural enemy until the game is over. It's definitely less detailed and simpler than XCOM, but I still had fun with it so that might tell you whether its up your alley or not. As far as the roster goes its pretty good. Venom and Deadpool are unfortunately stuck behind a DLC paywall which is kinda bogus although Venom can be an enemy in the game. Most of the micro transactions are cosmetics, but still kinda **** they're there I guess thanks 2K. You do get a lot of the classics upfront Spider-Man, Wolverine, Dr. Strange, Captain America and Iron Man. Some you have to unlock and you get some good characters that are less traditional like Magik and Blade. There is the Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider which is ok hes the least annoying of the "modern era" characters and Captain Marvel is in the game, but less cringy than in the modern comics and movies I found. Nico is probably the most annoying character in the game from the mediocre Runaways series. Fortunately the game as far as I can see doesn't have the absolute cringe characters like Riri Williams and Kamala Khan.
