Justice League7
Nov 17, 2017
Justice League is filled to the brim with just the right amount of comic relief and DCEU nods to satisfy any fanboy. Although the film is certainly not perfect, and far from it, it makes for an entertaining adventure and doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. What BvS did wrong, Justice League mostly makes up for, but a stronger story is what this film desperately needs and the only weapon Zack Snyder doesn’t have under his belt. While normal moviegoers might find Justice League to be normal fair and nothing more than the flash and bang it viciously shows off, people who are genuine fans of the genre and backstories of the heroes will find a film that accomplishes the goal it sets out to reach.

Kevin Hart: What Now?7
Oct 16, 2016
America's funnyman Kevin Hart brings us a surprisingly funny and well-written concert flick that is worth the weekend ticket. Top it all off with cameos from Don Cheadle and Halle Berry, and you have yourselves a fun two hours at the films.

The Accountant10

Affleck and O' Connor gratify the viewer into a world of lies, and suspense, and create a movie experience as harrowing and taut as it gets. This one needs a watch.

The Girl on the Train3
Oct 7, 2016
This is a movie that works on paper, and the book proved to be an excellent read. But when you stick visuals on the already popular thriller that this The Girl On The Train, not much emerges. Emily Blunt is great, so is Haley Bennett and others. It's too dark, way too overdone and WAY too long. Even the (already) exciting plot and great actors could not save a movie so dull and uninterested.

The Birth of a Nation7
Oct 7, 2016
Nate Parker has talent, scope, and vision. There could not have been a better director to helm this sensitive, brutal and brooding drama about Nat Turner's rebellion. In the wake of many films on African American struggles, including 12 Years A Slave, Birth Of A Nation has a hard time standing out of the crowd and reeling in the Oscar Bait. The content portrayed is disturbing, and most of the film is dark and slow burn. However, Nate Parker does a good job as Nat Turner, and the rest of the cast were very good as well. The film is extremely overdone in the terms of length, the scenes where Turner is being tortured are hard to watch and drag long enough to get under your skin, while there are rushed scenes of dialogue between characters and a wasted opportunity to re-create the battle scene in the climax. The score is incredible, and the cinematography is done very well. Even though it does not match to the caliber of Django or 12 Years, The Birth Of A Nation is an incredibly important film, and touches a part of American history that needs to be shed light on now more than ever. It's mostly a dull knife but easily pierces through the historical genre.

Queen of Katwe6
Oct 6, 2016
Katwe is not a bad movie. It has great actors, a great director, and a great score. But the main mess starts at the pacing. Mira Nair focuses too much on the concept rather than building on the characters and adding layers to a film that could have been the Oscar Bait we were hoping for. Still, if you have the patience, it's a nice, clean film that could be watched with families.

Deepwater Horizon10
Oct 6, 2016
An intense, atmospheric and overall well-made film that shows human emotions in a way no movie has this year. Deepwater Horizon is a film built on courage, the extraordinary cast and most of all, the true events that inspired it and the heroes who counted on hope when times were dire. The visuals were excellent, and the film was very well shot. Mark Wahlberg was excellent, and the rest of the cast did not disappoint either. This is an important film to watch that highlights a disaster that seemed almost too much of a dream to occur. Berg's disaster film left me engulfed in emotion and awe. Don't miss it.

The Magnificent Seven9
Sep 23, 2016
A firecracker western with a cast that one could have only dreamed of. The Magnificent Seven is high on body count, heart and one-liners. Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) spreads his love of westerns on a film that works both on screen and on paper. Being a remake of Seven Samurai, it never reaches its excellence but will give a blast to western audiences and a dose of the story that was so beloved before.

The 9th Life of Louis Drax9
Sep 3, 2016
Surprisingly, Louis Drax is a film about family than it is all dark and grim. Alexandre Aja brings this moody drama to screen with a strong cast featuring Jamie Dornan and Aaron Paul. There is something mysterious about this whole film, that it becomes a strong reason to watch it. The film follows the story of Louis Drax, a young boy who survives 9 near death accidents, and the relations between his mother and his abusive father, played excellently by Aaron Paul. The film feels a lot like The Sixth Sense and is heavy on dark psychological themes. But, even with all the dark, Aja finds a way to bring light with knockout performances and a solid plot that keeps you guessing till the end. Louis Drax is a breathtaking cinematographized film, and not to mention the creepy score that flushes the film into a much more visceral experience. A solid thriller, that has excellent examples of great filmmaking, and not to mention great actors. I would say it is a bit slow for some, but the premise makes your cling to your seat. It may make you feel uneasy, but this one is DEFINATLEY worth the watch.

Morgan6
Sep 3, 2016
A visually arresting, well acted film. Sadly, Morgan falls flat when it steers to deliver a weak and cheesy experience, instead of the science-fiction horror film we were promised. It does not give you the jeepers-creepers you saw in the trailers, and the A.I Morgan itself was a much poorly excecuted character than the rest of the cast. Luke Scott helms the throne of direction and does a decent job, Kate Mara is excellent as an accountant who is chased and psychologically manipulated by Morgan. It does deserve a re-watch to completely understand some components of the film, and is one I can get back to. Morgan is perfect for sci-fi junkies, but normal moviegoers will get confused if this is a horror film or an action movie. Still, Luke Scott brings us a well acted and visually compelling thriller, give it a watch.

Naam Hai Akira2
Sep 2, 2016
Akira is an over-the-top, classic scored Action movie. Its nuances are that it fails to deliver the kick that was promised in the trailers. The story is very predictable, and will bore most viewers. Sinha is good and other supporting cast do good as well, but are placed on a bad film.

Imperium9
Aug 27, 2016
A movie that leaves viewers with a strong, taut experience that they absolutely cannot erase from their minds. Imperium is many things. It tells a surprisingly terrifying story about **** extremists and how an undercover FBI agent tries to destroy their root. Daniel Radcliffe is excellent, and delivers his best performance in years. The only problem I have is, it's too slow. It drags a bit through the middle, and misuses its runtime with slow burn set pieces such as poorly shot gunfights and extra long talking sequences. Other than that, Imperium is a terrifying film, and deserves to be watched by all audience.

The Sea of Trees0
Aug 26, 2016
An awful film that hammers its own extremely talented cast and shoves them into a lousy drag for two hours. The Sea Of Trees is a horribly long, weakly executed and poorly made film. It makes you wonder what Van Sant slipped into Kidman and McConnaghuy's drinks and made them sign up for this trash.

Don't Breathe10
Aug 26, 2016
Don't Breathe is a knockout. It is a gruelling film that features an excellent Stephen Lang and is very well directed by Fede Alverez. Alvarez (Evil Dead) crafts a horror experience that is one for the ages. Extremely well written and shot, it is a prime example of one of the best horror films ever made. This one will go down as a classic.

Hands of Stone3
Aug 26, 2016
It's no Raging Bull, and definitely not Rocky, and some elements it introduces work. But altogether, Hands Of Stone feels unfinished, over sexualized and not brutal enough. The fights lack the "oomph" factor that we have come to expect after films like Creed and Southpaw. It has a highly predictable story as well, one that you can guess from start to finish. Robert De Niro is amazing as boxing coach Ray Arcel, but Usher and Edgar fell short of expectations. It is strictly for Duran fans or boxing enthusiasts.

Mechanic: Resurrection1
Aug 26, 2016
Loud, noisy and rushed stuff. Resurrection messes up the straight forward formula of making a Jason Statham film, and injects the sequel with boring fistfights/gunplay, a terrible plot and downright cringe worthy dialogue. There are a few scenes that are very well shot, and choreographed. Even though every actor in the film is a letdown, I always saw a bored Tommy Lee Jones who could have made for a weekend ticket. Some action setpieces, especially the ones on the yacht, are exciting and exhilirating. Sadly, those 30 minutes cannot cover up the mess that is Mechanic: Resurrection. It is boring, lousy and loud, and really makes you want cover your ears with pillows.

War Dogs7
Aug 23, 2016
Todd Philips' war comedy is a film that lacks some substance, but most of it is filled up by the brilliant performances of Jonah Hill, Miles Teller and Bradley Cooper. Those actors alone make this a worthwhile watch. The plot of the film is interesting and will drag you out like other war comedies this year, but it is all seen before and done better. Guys do illegal things, buy a lot of expensive ****, get into trouble, cue in bromance. I wish that the ensemble of such actors could have got a better, more fleshed out film than this. It still is fun though, will make you laugh and is enjoyable as a one time watch. I found no deep storytelling in War Dogs, but it was hella fun.

Kubo and the Two Strings10
Aug 23, 2016
For an animated film, Kubo masters mature storytelling in a way no film has this year. It dazzles with gorgeous stop motion, a bone chilling score and a story that will entertain both kids and adults.

Ben-Hur0
Aug 22, 2016
Ben-Hur was a film that was spectacular in its own right and did not deserve such an awful and lifeless remake such as this. Ben-Hur Rebooted is a boring drag that features such talent as Morgan Freeman and Jack Huston, who sadly fall under a script wrapped with cringy dialogue. Sprinkle some horrific CGI and you have a disaster. The fights and brutality don't add up to what the original gave us. The chariot races lack depth that might have made for an entertaining climax. This one is a mess.
Aug 22, 2016
Sausage Party4
Aug 22, 2016
Sausage Party is offensive, crude stuff. It works right half the time and the other half, it disgusts viewers with the most average and petty sex jokes there are in the book. It is definatley not for kids, and maybe, just maybe, not for some adults even.
Aug 16, 2016
Blood Father10
Aug 16, 2016
A gutsy, adrenaline rush from start to finish. Blood Father is a brutal, sizzling action film that has a lead that will melt your eyes off at sight. Mel Gibson's tenacious stares, his powerful moves and his deadeye shooting make this film what it is. Just watch it for Mel alone. It may not work in places and the supporting cast fall flat, but altogether it is filmmaking done right. Crisp shots, juicy dialogues and a brilliant score make this one an instant classic. Highly recommended.

Suicide Squad8
Aug 5, 2016
After so much hype, so many hopes, and so many talks about the casting and storyline, Suicide Squad is here, and it is **** parts. First of all, let's discuss the story. A group of supervillains is promised time off their jail sentences if they succeed in a mission deemed to dangerous for soldiers to do. It is nothing special and expect a few plot twists in DC movie fashion. This movie is full of big names, and most of them shine, notably Will Smith, Viola Davis and Margot Robbie. Will Smith's Deadshot is a fully fleshed out character, and not just your average hitman. It becomes evident in the first half that this is Smith's film to take.....until you see Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie). She is probably the only character done without flaw in this movie, equal parts crazy and equal parts sexy. Other than that, Viola Davis does an amazing job as Amanda Waller, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo was fine, but he got a good amount of screen time and backstory for me to say that he was very well fleshed out. Enchantress also has a bit of backup story, and Cara is fine in her role. Everybody else, including Slipknot, Katana, Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc and Scott Eastwood's character, were basically left in the dust. I know you cannot cram in a lot of backstories in a single film, but a little something about them would help. They basically follow the Squad around and kill a few here and there, but even their wit and charm cannot save them from being overshadowed by the bigger names. Speaking of big names, let's talk about Jared Leto's Joker. And I have to say he does an amazing job, and I really enjoyed when he was on the screen......which is not that often. Leto has about 6 or 7 minutes of screen time and shows up mostly in flashbacks of Harley Quinn. A little disappointing for fans who want to see the movie exclusively for him. The film's tone changes gradually from a little happy here to deliciously evil, and that is what makes this a fresh change from usual comic book movies. David Ayer has a great vision, and he executes very well throughout. There are some beautiful scenes in the film, particularly Joker and Harley's ''Chemical Wedding" which was shot extremely well and is one of my favorite sequences from the entire film. Then you have the humor, which was also a top notch element to the movie. Really, this a comedy above all else, a fresher take from the usual DC films. This film is really fun to watch when **** hits the fan, the characters bond, there is a decent amount of dialogue between them, and they ultimately ACTUALLY become a legitimate "Squad". And that is why Suicide Squad excels in characters, not only they bond, but their weaknesses are why they are here. There is some choppy editing in parts and some scenes from the trailers never show up here. But, whatever was given to us, was a well acted, funny romp that takes advantage of the great characters in the DC Universe and never shies away from silliness. This is a GOOD movie, it may be flawed, and Joker may not shine here, but Suicide Squad is a silly, funny and jam-packed blockbuster. Do not miss it this weekend.

Dishoom0
Aug 2, 2016
This muddled film's mostly noticeable low is the music. Rubbish lyrics placed on top of catchy beats adds nothing to Dishoom, yet another Indian movie which does action entertainers wrong. Action and music aside, the film also features a John Abraham who always whips out his cigarette to look "cool", he has done that before, but it gets so frequent, that you wish he puts that cancerous stick back in his pocket. Story follows an important Indian cricketer, who gets kidnapped, a day before a final match between sour rivals, India and Pakistan. Cue in two cops who have 36 hours to locate him and save him from a twisted Pakistani fan, who will do anything to make his team win. Varun Dhawan plays the same "sweet, patriotic and talkative" guy who throws cringy one liners on the daily. John Abraham is a cop who smokes a lot, and the rest of the cast are dissolved into the mess that this film, including Jacqueline Fernandez. Action scenes feel rushed and overdone, acting is horrible and the music, is downright terrible. After all the controversy, the hype and the star studded cast backing it, Dishoom is a huge mess. It does nothing right, and absolutely scores all the marks in doing it wrong. The film plays itself too safe, and that sacrifices the substance needed to make a great action movie. Although it does feature a decent Akshaye Khanna, but even that cannot save this film from being the crap it already is. Forget it this weekend.

Jason Bourne8
Aug 2, 2016
We did not need Jason Bourne, and it did not expand the trilogy's universe in any way. But, this is a thriller that has been made with top notch craft and features great performances from Matt Damon, Alicia Vikander and Tommy Lee Jones. Action sequences look spectacular and that shows that Paul Greengrass still has it after so many years. There is not much to the story, just your average plot twisting thriller involving government conspiracies and rogue spies. Overall, there is something about this film that made me wow, it has been done before, but in the end, no one does it like Bourne.

Raman Raghav 2.010
Jul 4, 2016
A terrifying, twisted ride from start to finish. Raman Raghav 2.0 is enough substance to make even the toughest of people to be gravely shocked at its stab at dirty cops, violence and murder. A fine cocktail for Bollywood, and they year hasn't even ended yet. The cast is electrifying, Kaushal and Siddiqui are both fantastic. The film contains brooding violence and is definitely not for the squeamish. 2.0 is one of the finest that Bollywood has to offer in 2016.

The BFG4
Jul 4, 2016
Although filled with many touching moments, Spielberg's Roald Dahl adaptation falls short of expectations. There is a lot to see here and Mark Rylance is absolutley stunning, but the thin plot, the heavy CGI and the disastrous ending overshadow what could be a cinematic landmark. For viewers who want to see something different, The BFG is a open ended ticket through fantasyland. That comes with a great caution.

Miles Ahead10
Apr 1, 2016
The music, the acting, the pacing, the cinematography is pitch perfect. Don Cheadle is electrifying in this unforgettable and excellent drama. Miles Ahead is a film that showcases the soulful filmmaking capable by Don Cheadle and it sets an example of great cinema for ages to come. Beautiful acting, great pacing of story, near flawless direction. Excellent, speechless to say anything else I will leave you with the task to watch the film immediately.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice5
Apr 1, 2016
Dawn Of Justice was a film that we needed. After the excellent Nolan trilogy, we have come to know of a darker, bolder Batman far fetched from Keaton or Clooney. But, Zack Snyder still thinks of superhero films as boom-boom, bang bang, high budgeted blockbusters, and he certainley delivers us one here. It's really dark, violent and gritty entertainment with amazing fights and great acting with the highlight being the wonderful Gal Gadot and the amazing Ben Affleck as Batman. Henry Cavill felt overshadowed by all the big stars including Jeremy Irons and of course Jesse Eisenberg. I felt like his Superman wasn't as fleshed out as Christopher Reeve or Brandon Routh. Eisenberg was OK in his role as Lex Luthor although they could have done better casting, the jokes don't fall and he isn't insane enough as Kevin Spacey. Ben Affleck knocked it out of the park, I think he is up there in the top with Keaton and Bale. I was shocked to see how faithful Snyder is to the comics, which is a good things sometimes, except when you misuse this power like he has, you get an uneven, packed film that gives you absolutely no time to breathe and render what you have seen, things move quick and there is absolutely nothing human about the film at all because of this. That aside there are brilliantly paced action scenes and the Batmobile chase is going to keep you on the edge of your seat. This has to be one of the darkest DC Comics movie since The Dark Knight, with violent and creepy dream sequences and very violent fights between Batman and Superman. Overall, this is a decent movie that stays faithful to the comics and has some brilliant acting and good action, but it's terribly long, uneven and Doomsday is just crammed it just like everything in the movie.

Beasts of No Nation10
Oct 18, 2015
There were moments in Beasts Of No Nation where I had to pause the film to process what I had just seen. There is an unquestionable force released by Cary **** (True Detective, Sin Nombre) and onto the viewer. The story follows young Agu (newcomer Abraham Attah) torn away from his family, who were murdered by ruthless soldiers, which forces Agu to flee and join a rebel group that fights against the soldiers who killed Agu's family. First and foremost, Abraham Attah was brilliant, not brilliant as in amazing but as in powwrful, emotional and simply killer. Idris Elba plays the commandant of the group, and boy can that guy act. Elba is smoking hot on screen, and simply watching him can give you goosebumps. No Nation touches many sensitive issues such as child soldiers, children on drugs and tobacco, how families are ripped apart and the stores of those who have been through it all. Agu is forced to kill, use drugs, smoke, swear and be turned into a beast rather than a playful and loving child. Supporting cast is good as well. No Nation isn't a evil movie, it tells us what evil can do to a young, growing child, the commandant isn't a bad person in his own way, he just wants revenge. Anyway, this film also questions you in ways you would have ever thought of. But beware, if you can't handle it don't watch it, some of my friends walked out because of the terror displayed in killings. But overall, brilliant and harrowing piece of work, and truly is on the road to the Oscars. Another reason why you should get Netflix.

Everest7
Sep 23, 2015
Heart stopping thrills, brilliant cinamtography, and a solid cast are the highlights of Everest. It certainly is a stomach churning, brain turning and cold as hell movie. Some scenes felt so real that I actually felt bad for Jason Clarke and Josh Brolin and CO, as they fall down a grazing mountain to their grisly deaths, but they don't. Everest is the true story of the first men to reach Mount Everest, and their survival in the deep zero cold. First of all, the acting is great, each character shows major emotion and strong feelings that makes their character feel more real. But, why a 7/10 then? Because Everest tired and tried but it felt open ended and unneeded. The writing is rushed, feels like drama class lines. Direction is bare minimum with actors winding about in some scenes. But, if you crave perilous entertainment, Everest is the pick for your week.

Sicario10
Sep 21, 2015
Sicario is a film that engulfs you in a nasty world of drugs and deceit. It is easily one of the best examples of excellent filmmaking in many years. The plot follows an ambitious FBI agent (Emily Blunt) who gets called to Juarez, Mexico to take town the dirty and come down with the clean, unfortunately, a dark hitman (Bencio Del Toro) and a seedy agent (Josh Brolin) come in her way and eventually destroy her from the inside. Plot twists are key here and director Denis Villeneuve makes sure of that. Lies, cheats, violence, it all bends together in the shocking climax that I won't forget for a long time. It has been nominated for a Palme De Or and I hope it wins. A must watch.

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials2
Sep 21, 2015
The Scorch Trials is an update to The Maze Runner, it felt like the same pasted on material was being reused again. Book adaptations usually bomb, but films such as The Hunger Games and The Fault In Our Stars had the power and punch that movies like The Maze Runner and Divergent lacked. Scorch Trials was a 2 hour race that would eventually end in a rancid love triangle. The action was dumbed down and nothing special. If there is something that Trials did well was the beautiful cinematography and Dylan O Brian's punchline acting. The movie is left in dust, but the ambitious Brian and the EXCELLENT cinamtography still don't make this a worthwhile theatre watch. Nonetheless, if you have a sweet home theatre, rent the film and be amazing by the beauty.

Black Mass9
Sep 20, 2015
Johnny Depp is no Tim Burton puppet anymore. Black Mass visualizes the swagger and bravado that is still left in Depp. Black Mass is the terrifying tale of Boston gangster James "Whitey" Bulger, and his rise and fall, all told by the lens of Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Out Of The Furnace), with an electric cast such as Dakota Johnson, Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kevin Bacon, and Rory Cochrane. Mass proves to be a solid movie, with a strong cast, excellent atmosphere and gut cringing violence, but the real surprise is Depp. He moves the movie frame by frame with a powerhouse performance that cannot be described in words. He puts all the swag he has on screen, and that also with real "jolt". Dakota Johnson as Bulger's wife, Lindsey Cyr, did a decent job post Fifty Shades age. Cumberbatch was good, but I felt like his character didn't have much to do with the main plot, nonetheless he was a fine addition. Joel Edgerton was good as well, with an electric scene in which it is definatley Edgerton's show. But the film, although being solidly paced and amazing all around, has some issues. Cooper's vision is uneasy and crinkled, he doesn't seen to express Bulger and his mob, the scenes are passes off with unnecessary violence and killings. Depp falls under this bad characterization of Whitey, and that could reflect him if other critics want to consider the film for Oscars. But, anyways! Johnny Depp deserves an Oscar. More than any actor this decade. This film could have not cast any man other than Depp. Brilliant. And an absolute must watch.

The Perfect Guy0
Sep 16, 2015
The Perfect Guy. Wow. That's twice September has dropped these "box office bombs" on us. The plot is about a woman who gets creepily stalked by her ex. That is the way to put it. If you remember Micheal Ealy looking through her house in the trailer, that scene was heavily edited to make it seem intense. There was nothing cool or intense about the whole movie, it was boring and rushed and going places I didn't even know. There is a line between terrible and bad, and their is another line before terrible, which is the definition of The Perfect Guy.

The Transporter Refueled0
Sep 15, 2015
The best thing about Refueled was the Audi. Man, was that Audi stylish. The rest of the movie? Well, to simply put it, boring, rubbish and first rate crap. There is really nothing "Refueled" about this whole monstrosity, it's just like your uncle's old truck, decorated from the outside but smelly and crappy from the inside. The Transporter films were always injections of fun, and Jason Statham was actually a good action hero. Ed Skirin has one goal, save his dad while protecting prostitues and jumping Audis off of airplane ramps. And he MESSED IT UP. First of all, the action scenes were terrible, absolutely terrible, the DBOX viewing was tiring and aching, with no "jolt" to it. There is way too much damn talking, so DBOX is a bad idea anyways. Cars are hitting each other with almost pillow-fighting impact and Skirin is ultimately, unlikable. He just didn't HAVE IT. They could have revived the series with a better option than this guy or just killed the series immediately. No punch, no power, boring storyline, awful acting and much much more destroys The Transporter Refueled for mainstream moviegoers. Avoid.

No Escape4
Aug 26, 2015
It was intense, all right, I gotta tell you that. But, as a movie, No Escape falls apart faster than you think. Owen Wilson didn't deem fit for the role, I mean like I KNEW from the moment the trailer dropped that this was bad casting. He is a comic actor and seeing him in a serious role was out of the bloom and unexpected. The story is about a family who move to Asia, and get ambushed by the government launching an all out war, as the family get stuck in the trenches, their only choice is escape from this hell. The story seemed like a good idea on paper, but when you see it in action, it becomes too damn predictable. Sure, there was plenty of violence and heart stopping chases, but it was mediocre and predictable. Pierce Bronsan was decent as an army soldier that helps the family. Acting overall was alright, I expected much more from these versatile actors. The action sequences are some of the most intense I have EVER SEEN. It may not be the best movie, but No Escape is very, terror filled, heart stopping and intense entertainment. It's a shame that these thrills couldn't be put on a better film.

American Ultra10
Aug 26, 2015
OH BOY. American Ultra is a damn good movie. Not just because it's stupid, stoner movie fun. But because it's much more than Pineapple Express meets Bourne. There is a solid love element attached to this film, believe it or not, and the film switches between action and comedy to romance very quickly. Jesse Eisneberg is an actor that continues to impress me, film after film, he is funny and energetic in a over the top, insane film. Kristen Stewart is the real star, believe it or not, she managed to be less annoying and more dramatic and she fit the role very well. Guess she is trying very hard to forget the Twilight Saga. There is a lot in this movie that moviegoers can enjoy, Action, Comedy, Romance, Drama, and Thrills. When I mean thrills, I mean THRILLS, not the cheap thrills you get from an Asylum movie. John Leguizamo was very funny as well. Ultra is the most entertaining piece of cinema I have seen this week. And that includes Straight Outta Compton (which was damn brilliant by the way) and that awful Hitman movie. GO WATCH IT!

Hitman: Agent 471
Aug 26, 2015
Agent 47 is a return to the basic, crap old formula of video game movies. Despite having slick and amazing action sequences, 47 still retains its stupidity. The storyline is nothing special, in a jiffy, Zachary Quinto at his worst as a cop helping a girl to escape a supercool agent named Agent 47. That line describes the mishmash that was Hitman: Agent 47. It is gleefully violent, terribly long, horribly acted and has a rotten storyline that we have seen before. So, it's a seen-it all assassin movie right? Wrong. This movie gets the basics wrong. The first instalment was a fresher take on the video game. It was bad, but stupid, Friday night fun. See, both of the films bear no resemblance to the games, expect taking the bald action Hitman from them. Everything else is cheesy, rotten plot. Also, no fu**ing stealth! Timothy Oleympiant made a better Hitman than Rupert Friend. He was cool and all, but he had no charm that the previous had. Just a fact. Overall, a brain dead action movie with a few decent action scenes.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E.7

Dazzling and beautiful, The Man From U.N.C.L.E doesn't disappoint fans of the TV series, and delivers slick action with a good script, brilliant acting, fast editing and great direction by Guy Ritchie. It is a bit too long though.

Straight Outta Compton10
Aug 15, 2015
F. Gary Gray's tribute to the rap gods, N.W.A is not only hard hitting and brutal, but extremely knowlagble and executed with almost no flaw. Straight Outta Compton hits every note, every line, every heartbeat and every rhythm. It is truly a masterpiece and a golden piece of cinema for ages to come. SOC tells the story of 3 guys out of a racist and judgemental, also incredibly violent neighbourhood, which is putting people under the influence of drugs and crime. Easily put, this is not a very pleasant place. But, they don't give up their hopes, and overcome tough situations to become rap stars with music that many found vulgar and obscene at the time. We are talking about the superstars, Ice Cube, the late Eazy E, and Dr. Dre. You might not believe it, but this is a true story, these acts of random violence, the cruel neighbourhood, the drug dealing, the every insult that they had to endure, happened. Personally, I thought Gary Gray's take on the Watts riots was deep and thoughtful. Another thing that I loved was putting younger version of hip hop artists that we know today, it really is a blast from the past. Compton was recreated so realistic at the time than ever. Suge Knight was well represented as well. Jason Mitchell and O'Shea Jackson Jr were brilliant. And Paul Gimmati as Jerry Heller didn't damn disappoint. Don't worry, there are sprinkles of black comedy here that are available for your taste. It's not fully serious, it likes to laugh a bit as well. Another thing that people should know is that this was not a easy film to make, Gary Gray and his team ran into some trouble while filming in Compton, California and presenting a film like this may get some backlash. But the risk was worth it, Straight Outta Compton is one of the best biopics of this century, it stands between a message of brutal racism and a life story of true artists. Oh! Did I forget about the music? Jaw dropping. Everyone had fun and were singing along, including myself. Well, there you have it, it may be hard finding another masterpiece in 2015. Don't you damn miss it.

Ricki and the Flash6
Aug 9, 2015
Its decent, and there is not much more I can say about it. Ricki And The Flash features one of Meryl Streep's best performance in years. She shines a beautiful energy on screen and is very enjoyable to watch. The film slowly turns into a boring melodrama towards its climax, but for what I saw, Ricki And The Flash was a decent, if not hilarious comedy with great acting and is directed well by Jonathan Demme.

Bombay Velvet5
Aug 9, 2015
Much to my surprise, Bombay Velvet is a beautiful yet dark film, that looks fantastic but lacks substance. Inspired by the works of Martin Scorsese and Danny Boyle, Anurag Kayshap's crime drama set in the fizzy and dramatic times when the English roamed Indian streets, and everything was a business, Velvet wants to captivate you in a steamy and beautiful Bombay. Everything from Cars to people to Buildings have time and money put into them to make them look fabulous and time setting. The story plays out as, Young Balraj and his mother arrive on the Bombay railway station with hopes to do something great in a new city. They ask around for work, and soon find out that work comes in little places. Balraj's mother is promised a job and she takes him there. Later, we find out that the man who promised her a job makes her work in a brothel as a prostitute. We see Balraj meet with a young kid named Chiman who takes him under his wing and teaches him how to do various crimes. Now, the story fast forwards to Balraj's adult years. This is the time Ranbir Kapoor fits into Balraj's shoes. Balraj gets in fights, a lot of them. Till he meets a smuggler that wants him to smuggle for him for top dollar, Balraj obviously agrees. The scene takes place in a dark night, where Balraj is smuggling gold biscuits and a police inspector shoots the man who ordered Balraj to smuggle. Balraj takes the gold and runs away in return. He hides it in the brothel, where his mother works. Balraj later falls in love with Rosie, a singer by night and a parlor worker by day. The rest of the film rests on Balraj meeting Khambatta, a ruthless dealer who changes Balraj's name to Johnny Balraj and Johnny trying to be a big shot while killing and dealing away. Velvet is very dragging and long, and Karan Johar as a bisexual dealer was disappointing. The film, even though it has a solid premise falls short of many expectations. But, Bombay Velvet is a shallow but mildly entertaining gangster flick with amazing performances and lavish detail.

The Gift10
Aug 7, 2015
The Gift is surprisingly on of the absolute best thrillers of this year. Every frame grips you and makes your cringe. Jason Bateman and Joel Edgerton are fantastic, and Rebecca Hall is good as well. This is not a thriller, it is a horror movie, every moment is a jumpscare as Edgerton's lens captures the vision of a couple and their unusual friend. Amazing movie. Left me speechless.

Fantastic Four4
Aug 7, 2015
Fantastic Four isn’t unwatchable or flat-out awful. It’s aggressively mundane, and devoid of energy, wonder, wit and whimsy. For a movie about people seeking what else is out there, Fantastic Four never looks for a spark of life in itself. It’s all as cold and grey as the soulless buildings the characters are entombed in throughout.

Smosh: The Movie0
Aug 6, 2015
So, you take idiots from a comedy show that is popular on YouTube, and give them a fully length feature film. This could mean two things, either the movie is stupid fun, or its just stupid. Smosh: The Movie is neither, its a dark void of laugh less and dull jokes. Smosh have a barely funny sketch show, so why give them a movie? See, once you get 20 million subscribers, the power can get to your head. Product placements, horrible acting, Ian Hecox is the most annoying person alive on this planet right now, sex jokes that are ripped straight out of EL James's Blackberry erotica, and bad cameos. This is unacceptable. Even 20th Century Fox could have stopped this! But no, Hecox and Padilla wanted it to happen. Well here ya go! One of the absolute worst of 2015. And its not even a wide release. Its VOD CRAP.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation10
Aug 1, 2015
Insanely entertaining and wildly funny. Rogue Nation is the absolute best Mission Impossible movie in the franchise. Tom Cruise is still kicking ass, and looking badass. Finally, a director has realized the major importance of humour in these movies, a slight overlaying of cheesy one liners helps, but doesn't qualify as comedy. Rogue Nation is funnier than one can expect. Spectacular car chases, grand action set pieces and exotic locations are all included in package, and Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg are actually pretty amazing. But the real star is, of course, 53 years old badass, Tom Cruise, who drives supercars through narrow roads, rides motorbikes on top of the edges of dizzyingly high cliffs, while shooting bad guys with a superlong pistol. The plot revolves around a "rogue nation' called the Syndicate and Ethan Hunt and company trying to find out if the Syndicate exists and if it does, to kill everyone associated with it. Trouble is, no one can be trusted. The plot is simple to understand, and doesn't fish much into the movie lineup to make sure you have watched every single film in the series to watch Rogue Nation. Slick action, solid scripting, great action and Tom Cruise as badass as ever make Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation a wonder of filmmaking for years to come. Simply put, just watch it.

Vacation7
Jul 30, 2015
What works about Vacation is that the Griswolds come off as a normal, imperfect family who, despite not having any huge dramas to overcome, have recognisable problems that the audience can get behind in an otherwise heightened world. That, as with the original movies, is what makes it the more satisfying and entertaining watch than you’d perhaps expect.

We know from what direction its punches will be coming, but the drama, visualization, and strength of its cast help Southpaw deliver a flurry of genuine emotion to its audience.
