Super Mario 3D Land8
Mar 1, 2026
I don't feel like this is in the same category as the other 3D Mario games like 64 and Galaxy, but this feels like a literal 3D Mario Bros. game (similar to 3D world)
It's really nice that this game included an entire postgame the same size as the main game, making it have a ton of content for a handheld game.
I didn't quite 100% it, but beat every stage, and it was a fun and challenging game (especially in the Special worlds)
I hope they do make more 3d games like the mario bros. formula as it is still very fun.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds9
Mar 1, 2026
My introduction to, and to this day my favorite of the top-down Zelda games. (I can't say 2d in this games case due to the wall merge)
I've played through multiple times, beat on hero mode, and 100%ed it all.
I have always kept a trophy save file for 100% completion in hero mode, but I reset a save every now and then to replay it or do a silly personal challenge file.
(though it's not easy to do anymore, the streetpass battles were really neat too, and I loved the Gramps easter egg after all the medals)
Decent story, fun puzzles/dungeons, great game.

Shattered Pixel Dungeon10
Mar 18, 2024
Played tons on mobile since around 2019, and played on Steam once it was released.
One of the best traditional and actual Rogue-Likes there is out there, and there is so many good features. It feels good to play, die, learn, repeat until you master mechanics on identification and navigation.
Even though a lot has been added, and it's changed from it's original project, it doesn't feel bloated or forced, and there is an active community. It feels weird that it doesn't feel super well known to this day for how good of a Roguelike it is.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom10

I committed the sin of playing this game before BotW because I didn't play many LoZ games before anyway, but this is one of the best open world games I've played, period.
This game has a decent story, nice visuals/environment, and a great soundtrack.
Though the game is a bit buggy sometimes, I can't think of anything worth considering docking a point. I still feel this way after completing most of the game (beat all shrines, all bosses/minibosses with medals etc) and I look forward to replaying the game in a couple years.
Now that I have played BotW I do still prefer the zonai devices/abilities here, but I think they are both about the same level of epicness, just slightly different atmospheres.

Dead Cells10
Mar 18, 2024
One of the best action rogue-lites I've played. So good I needed to buy the game and all of it's dlc, three times...
The game has a perfected roguelite formula, difficult and rewarding combat, and really good controls with a gamepad or on mobile (though I don't prefer keyboard)
each Boss Cell difficulty is exponentially harder, but each game feels similar, yes so different. Great game.

Fun tower defense game, even more with friends in Co-op.
Still updates frequently, challenging events and bosses.
Lots of things to do to the point where the same maps don't feel repetitive.

Pokemon Diamond Version8
Oct 8, 2025
Pokemon Diamond was the first Pokemon game I played, and I can say that it's still one of my favorites later on.
The weird thing is it's been long enough since I first played this that I can't remember what my first thoughts were, but I randomly remember little pieces of random parts of this game now and then.
I also had a bit of fun with the underground mining and secret base games.
I also remember this game fondly due to beating the champion on my first attempt due being lucky with the Garchomp, which I think of every time someone talks about Cynthia.
Though it does feel a bit weird playing again later on, I still think it's a good game, and it helped shape my perspective on Pokemon for my future.

Pokemon Ultra Moon10
Oct 8, 2025
Note that I am 100% biased towards this game, and I am ignoring the negatives that most people mention because I like it too much to care about those issues.
Pokemon Ultra Moon is one of my favorite main Pokemon games, and I can't fully explain why.
I was instantly in love with the world and improvements from previous games, and love the addition of the Ultra Beasts and Ultra Space.
Yes, the regular story is better in Pokemon Sun/Moon, but I love the gameplay, Pokemon, and postgame more here.
I struggled a bit with Ultra Necrozma, but once I succeeded, and discovered more of Necrozma's lore, I took a liking to this unique looking, jagged alien prism thing.
Of course there are a lot of other smaller things (surfing minigames, improved pelago, rainbow rocket, better trials) but overall I just love this game. It does feel slow to start especially, and the dialogue is a bit over the top, but the story and all that hit different from the standard pokemon formula, and I hold this game dear to me.

Furious Farm: Total Reap-Out7
Oct 8, 2025
Short and fun arcade style game, that mixes mechanics from the item racing formula and a competitive farming game.
It's fairly simple, but still has a decent amount of challenges, characters and achievements to not ever feel boring, but once I beat all the difficulties I didn't feel interested in returning much.
Would be cooler if there was more maps, and online multiplayer.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky5
Oct 8, 2025
Music and story are good, but I couldn't enjoy much of the actual gameplay itself, which I actually normally like dungeon crawler games, but it just doesn't work well here.
It's definitely a game aimed towards younger kids, and I just don't get the charm at this point, and still think it's a little cheesy, but I bet I would feel nostalgic for it had I played it much earlier in life. If you like Pokemon and don't care too much for gameplay compared to story, it's good.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story10
Feb 27, 2026
Probably the most well known, and very likely the most liked game in the series. Bowser's Inside Story, is my favorite Mario RPG, and you probably don't even need to read me writing a review as there are probably a bunch of other M&L nerds like me that write more so leave
-Balanced pace (rarely feels like a drag)
-Fun fights (plus you get to fight as Bowser half the game)
-Unique(?) Story (admittedly it's quite weird, actually extremely strange, but they gave bowser the most personality ever before here and I love it)
-Peak music (there's a high chance you've heard Grande Finale before)
-French Guy (There's a french speaking block man. Why'd I put this here?)
-Giants/minigames (epic bowser kaiju fights, and silly internal organ minigames)
-Mario and Luigi (And Bowser)
Ignore the lack of review structure and my stupd idk i wrote this at midnight after I finished the final boss gauntlet challenge (which was a PAIN but a good pain! I loved the struggle. Play BIS. NOW

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam7
Feb 28, 2026
Though I do think this game is the least good in the Mario & Luigi Series, I don't think it's terrible at all. In fact, I feel like Paper Jam is over-hated on.
Yes, the game does feel less original, with like no unique characters, a simple story, paper toads, and reused Dream Team assets, but the game itself is still of good quality.
Yes, I understand all the complaints on this game, but after all those, that's only focusing on the negatives, and I feel like it gets outweighed.
I don't get why people don't like the papercraft battles, as I feel it adds one of the few unique elements to it, which stands out in a normally solely turn-based game.
Music (especially later in the game) is peak, bosses have good features, and honestly even though it's mainly established mario characters, I love that they gave regular series enemies a bit more of a spotlight for the series, and I hope for future games with the new developers, they find a good balance.

Super Mario Odyssey8
Feb 28, 2026
A really great addition to the 3D Mario games. It's still hard to think it was released 2017. This game has a great world, fun power-ups and captures, and for the most part, nice bosses. Even though it eventually feels slow/repetitive, I like that there always seems to be more things to collect and find, even once beating the main game, and hundreds of moons. (I just looked it up and there's almost 900 wow I'm not even halfway at 400) Great platforming controls and movement abilities in general. I love how they improved the shiny object collection mechanic from previous entries into large open worlds with unique environments and characters. Probably the first game I'll think of when someone brings up the nintendo switch.

Mario Party DS9
Feb 28, 2026
As someone who maxed out a save file on my ds years back, I played it a lot, and it was a very fun, portable group game. I played it mainly with friends and my brother, but the story mode in singleplayer is great too (also the best story in a mario party game). It can get repetitive, but the minigames and boards are so charming and fun I like them even to this day.
I also probably put a few too many hours into the puzzle modes and collecting the special items/achievements, and I may not have enjoyed that now, but as a kid it was a blast. If you get a chance to get a copy or two to play with friends (also download play) I highly recommend.

Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 28
Feb 28, 2026
The Mario Galaxy games were two of my favorite (and some of my first) Nintendo games by far. I don't know why but I just got so invested into the games and could play it over and over. I've beaten both games a few times each, (beat galaxy 1 completely with luigi, and a couple times normally, and completed the postgame with green stars in galaxy twice)
Somehow the same levels feel so good that I don't get tired of seeing them (at least most) over and over.
The original games I have tons of nostalgia for and few criticisms especially for when they were released, but my problems lay with the switch remasters. I completely played through both (normal games not completionist) in the switch copy, and it was nice to play them on newer hardware and (slightly) improved resolution. I don't have many, but one issue that I am a bit salty over is the removal of Banktoad from Galaxy 2, replaced with an Amiibo ad. Banktoad was a fun and useful feature that had no reason to be removed in a port/remaster that changed barely anything else gameplay-wise, and that alone is annoying, but replacing him with a useless npc that tells you to buy more amiibo for a chance at a couple starbits and 1ups is stupid. Bring back my Banktoad.
Also I'd have preferred a hard mode over assist mode (or on top of) as normal mode isn't crazy hard in the first place, and would have enjoyed a new challenge.
Overall though it's still the same original games and I love them both.

Luigi's Mansion 39
Feb 28, 2026
I was a huge fan of the first 2 Luigi's Mansion games, and this one is my favorite by far. It feels quite fluid, looks awesome, and has very interesting environments and great gameplay. I do prefer Dark Moon's combat system with the gauge over the slam attack, but I like the openness of this game. Great game, interesting puzzles, decent multiplayer.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey7
Feb 28, 2026
The original Bowser's Inside Story was my favorite Mario RPG, and this remake of that is not a bad game. The problem I have with it is it felt forced, as they pushed out their most popular entry hoping to make money fast. Again, I enjoyed this remake, and the new art and smaller changes are not bad (though I prefer the original style sprites still)
it's just not something anyone really asked for.
(also I barely played the bowser junior journey mode so I didn't take that into account)

Pokemon Legends: Z-A8
Oct 21, 2025
My biggest complaint with the game is lack of variety in environment and movement/travel. This aspect is a significant downgrade from LA.
On the other side, this game has a story that I feel makes up for the lack of "open world" feel. I may have a controversial opinion but I like 80% of the new mega designs, and the ones don't prefer still feel like pokemon.
I bet most of the people spamming negative reviews either haven't played the game, haven't completed the game, or just don't like the unique pokemon battle adaptation.
If you prefer open world exploration(?) play Arceus but for story and battles this one takes the cake imo. (I may be biased slightly due to it being about X-Y, AZ and the successor, but either way I think if you don't focus on the 2 big problems it isn't a BAD game)

Mario & Luigi: Brothership9
Nov 10, 2024
Brothership is a great game, and even though it moves a bit away from the alphadream style, it still is a must play if you enjoyed those games.
Yes the beginning is slow and repetitive, but the art and battle systems are a beautiful. Music is nice, but not on the same level as previous titles.
(I am not quite finished with the game, but it is good so far, so my review may change based on how the story ends) Brief post-completion edit: (spolier friendly)
I am happy this game released. I don't love it to the same level as the original alphadream games, but I can't complain much about this game as it's a new team and they still did a good job reviving (hopefully) the series.
The whole game goes back and forth between dragging/slow and fun/anticipation, and after completing it, I don't mind the slow parts. It was a journey, and the battles/story make up for it tenfold.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem9
Jul 5, 2024
Honestly I preferred the style of game here than the original style where you play as mario. It feels like more of a real-time puzzle and planning strategy game, and makes you think. Great game. Final boss **** though since it doesn't even incorporate anything from the whole game prior.

Super Mario Galaxy 29
Jul 5, 2024
I first played Super Mario Galaxy 2 when I was a kid, soon after playing the first game. I had loved the first, and to no surprise, I loved this game too. From a gameplay perspective, it was much more fun than the first. Story-wise, it lacked what the original had. To me when I first played it as a younger child of myself, I didn't care too much about the story as all I wanted was a fun game, but replaying found it missed the mark. I also missed the comet observatory style select style with the domes, but the more iconic world map system still fit. Though I miss some of the original charm, this is a great game for 3D Mario fans or Mario fans in general.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions8
Jun 30, 2024
I never played the original, but I still could feel the charm **** that felt like the first of the M+L series. It did feel pretty simple at times since I played most of the other games in the series before this one, but I quite liked it overall. I enjoyed the more overworld platforming and the bros. attacks as opposed to the others. I would rank this as my 3rd favorite in the series.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team9
Jun 30, 2024
This is my second favorite Mario and Luigi game (first being BIS) and I think it is quite good. Yes the game is long and quite slow paced, but I like that it doesn't feel old way to fast as long as you remain patient and find it enjoyable. I love the concept for the dreamy worlds, and I think the giant boss battles are the best part, even better than the ones from BIS.

Paper Mario: Sticker Star7
Jun 30, 2024
I didn't hate it as much as some people, but yes, this is probably the worst paper mario. I still think the game has some pros and cons. The main gimmick of the game (stickers) is both kinda cool and very annoying. I liked the idea, but each attack/sticker you get can be used only once, you have a very limited inventory for stickers, and the combat itself feels pretty dry. It isn't all bad, but keep that in mind.

I will admit I am a bit biased towards this game as it was the first I played, but I still don't think it'snearly as bad as other people say. As long as you take your time to appreciate it's uniqueness, and hopefully have friends or family to play it with, you will hopefully like it.
