Alita: Battle Angel9
May 14, 2019
This film was so much fun. I gave it a 9 out of 10 because I thought that they could have given us more in the story department and because I thought that the ending could have been better. The visuals in this film were stunning and I loved the character of Iron City. The fight scenes were spectacular, as were the characters/bounty hunters. It really is a beautiful film visually, so yes, I'm impressed. Problems with the film are that the story could have been more, idk, better. I do understand that when world building there are information dumps that have to happen. If the film makers had taken the time to do these dumps properly, it could have been a more satisfying film. I also wasn't impressed with the ending. You can't just end it like that and not give us another film. Overall, I do recommend this film and I hope they make another to wrap up the loose ends of this film.

I enjoyed this one and was surprised at how good Zac Efron is as Ted Bundy. Lily Collins plays his longtime girlfriend, Liz Kendall and I read somewhere that this film is based on Liz Kendall's book, The Phantom Prince: My Life With Ted Bundy. The film does not show Ted dismembering his many victims so it is not a sensational chop-o-matic bludgeon fest. It's more of a story showing everyone just how 'normal' he appeared to be when he wasn't out killing women. We are shown how he was with Liz and her daughter. We are shown how he denies everything that is said about him. It's chilling because he's so charming and convincing, and he's using all of that to try and get free. Anyway, if you are looking for blood and gore this is not the film for you. If you are looking for an explanation as to why he is the way he is, you won't get it. This story is from Liz's perspective and how it took a toll on her life. Production values are right up there and I recommend this film.

I had heard all kinds of terrible things about this film but you know, it really wasn't that bad. The CGI could have been better and the editing was pretty bad. The story could have been better but to be honest, I've seen worse. I thought that the acting was fine. This isn't Shakespeare or PBS so I wasn't bothered by the script and the actors did pretty good for what they had to work with. It's science fiction and for a science fiction movie it wasn't terrible. It's violent, bloody, and there are some cuss words sprinkled throughout. I have never seen the other predator movies and I am not likely to. I gave this film a 6 out of 10.

It started out fine, then about 50ish minutes in it got a little stupid, and then even more stupid. The CGI for the most part was pretty good and only in a few places did it look fake. The story was silly and the acting was pretty bad all the way through. Dear god Ruby Rose couldn't act her way out of a paper bag; and her hair, wtf was that all about? Production values were okay. I did think that the underwater lab looked pretty cool. The editing was lousy and overall I gave this film 4 out of ten. I am glad I waited to see it during cheap night at the movies. It was mindless entertainment and was passable. You will have to shut off your critical thinking skills. I'd wait for the rental or I'd see it during a discount movie night.

Little Women1

This should have been straight to dvd or, one of those awful lifetime movies they show on television. I don't even think little kids would like it because Jo just seems to be angry all the time, Marmee is pretty much nonexistent, and there's an obvious older guy that plays Laurie. They could have found a decent actor to play Laurie, but they didn't. The whole thing seemed lazy as though they didn't really care how the updated version came across. The essence of what Alcott was trying to get across isn't there. This version is just as redundant as the one they did in 2017 with a grown-up Amy. I do not recommend this film.

The Debt Collector3

I went into this hoping for a halfway decent B movie and that isn't really what I got. The actors were all okay and we've seen them before in lower budget films. There wasn't much in the way of production values and you could tell that this was done on the cheap. I wasn't expecting a stellar script so to have it be as bad as it was didn't surprise me. I thought maybe there'd be some decent fight scenes but it was altogether pretty mild. I did not enjoy the cut-aways during the film. They were too artsy and this was not an art film. The ending was one of the worst endings I have seen in a long, long, time. I feel that I am being generous giving this film 3 stars and I do not recommend this film.

Tomb Raider3

If you are expecting a remake of Lara Croft Tomb Raider you will be disappointed. I have watched my husband play the game and some of the scenes from the movie are similar to scenes from the game. Much of the movie is very badly acted, especially by Vikander and there is no real father daughter chemistry between her and her father, played by Dominic West. I have to say that I was sorely disappointed by the film. The only real bright spot were some of the scenes that involved some kind of action. The music was heavily implemented to carry some of the scenes or at least to give them more of a punch. I can and have been able to suspend any attachment to reality but for this film it was rather difficult as my mind would wander back to certain holes in the story-line. Over all I'd say it gets a 3 for atmosphere and somewhat decent production values because the story and the acting were terrible.

This could have been so good, and the movie did have some good moments but, it wasn't enough to lift it any higher. When Will Smith does his "Will Smith" it's not at all funny, and there's not enough back story presented to help me connect to the characters. I thought everyone was just 'okay' and I didn't care if certain people lived or died because I didn't know enough about them to care one way or another. It also seemed preachy to me, as though they were trying to teach me something. Joel Edgerton did so well in Midnight Special that I was looking forward to seeing him in this but the director didn't get anything out of him. What a complete waste of talent. The good moments were all the fight scenes. Noomi Rapace is great as Leilah and her fight sequences are outstanding. In all I'd say that giving it 5 out of 10 is pretty generous.

I was so looking forward to this film and they killed it, dead. I left when Eggsy was having dinner with the princess and her parents. I just thought, this is not funny and if I leave now I can sneak into what-ever's playing next door. I am glad that I didn't pay full price to see 25ish minutes of this film. I do not recommend this film.

This is the second review I have submitted for this documentary. The low score is because of all the cgi and renderings. We don't get any actual footage of anything. We get a lot of film saying this is what is going on, but the only proof we are given is an animation. There are many science oriented people who have a lot to say and at the same time they offer no proof. The whole thing stuck me as fake. Here's hoping they leave this review alone.

I find it pretty terrible that they make movies like this when everyone knows that no one ever went to the moon. Yes, we need to praise these people for their acting skills. Now, we can't go to the moon because we lost the technology that showed us how to do it. Do you actually believe that? The Chinese are up there right now. Why not ask them? What about the Van Allen Belts? I could go on. I admit to having a difficult time watching something like this because of the fake lunar landings. If you believe in space and the lies nasa tells then this will definitely be the movie for you.

This is a very long slow film. Long. Slow. Film. It is also a very sad film. You know there is something going on but you don't actually find out what it is until about half way through the film. Then you're like, oh wow, that's gotta **** so hard... This is a film about not being able to overcome grief and guilt and in the end it's gutting because you know that there are people like that in the world.

I gave it a three because I loved the production value of this film. The camera work is outstanding, same goes for the lighting and the special effects. The first 20ish minutes are good but then it pretty much tanks from there. If you are hungover on the sofa it might not be too bad, but if you are looking for something that is good, this isn't it.
