The end result may be little more than an exponentially more expensive version of those cheapo Syfy channel movies, but at least it has the good taste to be exponentially better as well.

Is it a particularly great movie? No. Does it have some pretty major structural problems? Yes. Does Jason Statham fight a giant, prehistoric shark in it? Yes. Verdict: See The Meg. The Meg will cleanse your soul.

I can only say that I loved watching this movie, along with my family, and it caught our attention. Thanks to the production team, for all the moments of pleasure created. In short, against critics, I and my family have been excited about this movie!

There’s just enough thrills and gills here to satisfy both monster-movie junkies and advocates of multi-million dollar US/Chinese co-productions.

With The Meg, Turtletaub flounders about, failing to wring out a basic amount of tension in most scenes, leaving us to swim around in circles with only spare, Statham-infused signs of life.

The movie dawdles along, boring us as it does, in between action sequences. There’s a good chase or two, a generic escape here and there, but almost no cool lines and no catch-phrases.

The makers of The Meg may have gone to school on Spielberg, but the big-budget deep-sea thriller is nothing but bloodless summer filler. Unsure if he wants to have some fun and jump the Sharknado or make a seriously gory fish fest, director Jon Turteltaub has surfaced with nets empty.

She also doesn’t satisfy. At all. After experiencing Meg, you’ll crack open your Little Shark Book and call up Jaws.

It is Tremendous because it is not a just movie on shark attack but a Movie in which they explore hidden deep sea places which and never discovered before and which has new giant size creatures there and fighting with them also when it comes to Jason Statham its full of Tremendous Action & Tremdnous Dialoges... So everything Story , Cast , VFX, Dialogues etc is Tremendous... I really Liked the Film, Best Regards

The downside of the different countries producing the film can be felt in the casting and the chemical reaction between the roles. The chaotic plot and the pointlessness of many of the supporting roles make this prehistoric Meg not at all scary.

One of the "better" shark films for all of what's that worth. I hoping the sequel will be better.

I am a big fan of horrors, thrillers and shark movies, but... I just couldnt watch it. to be honest I believe Sharknado was a better movie.

This is the type of movie Jason Statham often appears in. It is action packed and offers some good CGI effects. But there is nothing positive to say about the rest. The story starts off with a good but not great premise and it is nearly believable in explaining how the giant prehistoric shark came to be swimming around among people with some real original ideas. However it quickly falls flat from that point onwards, getting more and more cringe worthy with every minute. The acting is poor; with none of the cast coming across as believable. The only positive mention being Cliff Curtis who does a fairly decent job all things considered. Take the movie for what it is: A cringe worthy load of nonsense, in a fast paced CGI wrapped package.
