It is bizarre fun, in a brutalist lower budget way. If you enjoyed odd films like 12 Monkeys, Time Bandits, Moon, or Everything, Everywhere, All at Once then you might like this one. It is ABSOLUTELY a Sam Rockwell vehicle. The man carries this film and everyone else supports him. He's in rare form here!

Seriously, one of the most boring movies I've ever watched. Zero plot cohesion. Characters arrive as if they were air-dropped. They announce things out of the blue and then do things that make no sense. I knew it was poorly rated and hoped it would have some redeeming value all the same. It does not.

Eh, it's just fine. The best of the "Jurassic World" sequels, but that's not saying much. Not as bad as people said it was, but still...dumb plot with characters you'll forget about. Electric State is worse. The Fallen Kingdom film was worse.

Bizarre and impossible to follow, this film flows from comedy to romance to thriller, all in the same scene. It's as if the writers, director, actor, and editors were all working on different films and they kept swapping out genre when someone spun a board game spinner.

FANTASTIC art, and I love the way the turtles themselves are presented. But everything else is awful. Worst of all, they decided to just make the movie disgusting. And what they did to Rachel's character was unforgivable. By the time the credits rolled, I was glad it was over. Other family members had bailed on the movie entirely. If you love the turtles, you'll hate this.

Unrelentingly stupid. It's obviously a copy/paste of every Marvel movie and it MUST have been written by AI. No human could have reviewed that and said OK. It's also obvious from interviews that the Russos didn't really want to adapt the book or its bleak themes. Not when there are robots to punch and 1-liners to deliver.

A dull film that counts on plot contrivances and a VERY stupid cast of characters to move the story ahead. If the characters were likable or the film was funny, I'd give it a pass as a budget film with heart. Sadly, it's just a slog. I gave up about halfway through. On the plus side, the English dub (it's in French originally) isn't awful and the production design is quite good. Mediocre acting and a truly dull script drag this film into the gutter. Hard pass.

Really good film! Certainly recommend with a couple notes: (no spoilers) 1. It's a part 1 of 2 and I didn't know that - wish I did 2. It's visually intense, like your eyes are in a blender the whole time and it's hard to take in everything that's going on 3. A lot of fun, adventure, action, and legit funny parts. Plus, interesting new characters 4. The story is more complex and intense than the previous, leaning into dark at times 5. It's about 50/50 Gwen v Miles. Maybe even more Gwen.

Good, not great. The film finally gets its own story instead of leaning on the Rocky franchise, but it still lacks that triumphant, boisterous energy that made Rocky so lovable. It sets up lots of ideas but doesn't follow through when you think they will. The fights are better choreographed than the Rocky films, but you don't follow the dramatic moments like Rocky did so well. It's just two guys boxing till one wins. There's no moment of personal growth in the ring, a strategy change, a powerful breakthrough of strength. It just goes and then stops. It's good. If you like the franchise, it's exactly in line with the others and will not disappoint.

Lots of kids at the theater seemed to enjoy it and all that stuff went over their heads.

Good premise, but it steps on all its own jokes. It plays serious music and fades to black when it should insert a quick reaction, a follow-up joke, then cut to something else. By the time the ending rolls around, you'll either be in a jolly mood and tolerate it or you'll be checking your watch. It's not a classic.

It's like a live action anime with surprisingly good effects and excellent interior designs. The story is not super original, but they have some real heartfelt moments and tons of bonkers action. I appreciate how out of the box and different the approach was from Hollywood. Pretty good dubbing plus English-speaking actors make it work well in the English dub.

Excellent MK film. Really solid video game adaptation with just about everything you could ask for. Does justice to the franchise, delivers non-stop action, somehow manages to have a plot and characters. Obviously, rated R for lots of reasons. I think they overdid it with the language, but the blood makes sense for the MK franchise. Hard to review if you're not a fan of the game series. In that case, it's probably just a ridiculous over the top martial arts movie. A few uneven performances on the acting side, but what are you gonna do? Nobody was "bad" so that's a win.

NO SPOILERS HERE It's a fun, albeit silly, ride. The main plot makes no sense and the whole thing ends up so sappy you could choke, but it's a lot of fun in the middle. Good balance between dialogue and action. A few really lovely effects shots. Diana seems to weigh nothing, floating through the air and landing lightly when she wants to. Most of the plot points come without motivation or setup. Just idea > payoff. Again and again, so it lacks depth. The trailer pretty much shows the entire movie, so if you want to you could watch that and call it a day, but I'd say watch it and don't think too hard. It will not reward you for deep thinking.

I was hoping this would be a fun movie, in spite of its lukewarm reception, but no. Not only is it one of the most wandering and pointless action movies I've ever seen, it's also just a badly shot, directed, edited, and written film. Jumps to random locations without preamble. So many characters that other characters have to remind you of who they're talking about with nudges like "the bald guy". Real subtle. Meetings on meetings to rehash what we already know! "Kids on a daring adventure" type movies live or die based on heart. This movie has no heart. You have to connect with the characters and feel that they are likable, relatable, and that their adventure has real meaning. This movie misses all of it, leaving the kids as either blanks, unlikable, or just forced and fake. The young actors do their level best, but nothing can save this movie from terrible writing. If it were at least a bit more family friendly, it would have that going for it and you'd forgive it, but no. It's often too vulgar or too violent for families. Hard pass.

Boring and inconsequential, with hard to follow action and a wandering plot. All of it weighed down by dull acting from the lead. Honestly, is Brie Larson wearing a mask that's incapable of showing emotion? In the rare moments when she does anything but stare, she comes off as nothing but smug. One could forgive some of this if the story had any connection for the audience. It's not a "Hero's Journey" story or an "underdog" tale. You just wonder how far her already existing power can go. An ambitious, imperfect movie whose biggest flaw is that it tries to take on TOO MUCH material in one go. The visuals are what you come for, of course, and those do not disappoint. They have more of a "hyper-real" and stylized approach and it works well to make you feel like it's a manga brought to life. The only time they fail is when the CG style clashes with a real world that just can't be as outlandish. Never read the source material, but I felt like it was trying to cover too much ground, forcing a final act that should have left a bit more to the imagination instead of doing sequel setup.
