That go-for-broke violence has always been a core component of Mortal Kombat, and this reboot succeeds because McQuoid and his team remember that, and have the self-awareness to acknowledge it. It isn’t a flawless victory, but it is lizard-brain fun.

Love this movie. They did an excellent job of creating a fun, goofy, action packed, fighting movie with the perfect amount of humor and campiness. This movie doesn’t take itself too seriously, and never intended to. It also has great costume designs, set designs, editing, camera work, a solid cast, and an iconic soundtrack. For anyone who grew up in the early to mid 90s playing the Mortal Kombat games (the people this movie was made for), this movie is a must watch. It’s not the most well-made movie out there, but I think it’s better for that. It has a certain charm to it, which gives it high rewatchability. It’s a genuinely fun watch. Just don’t go in expecting it to be something it never intended to be. That’s where the hater reviews get it completely wrong. They all come from people having a preconceived notion of what the movie was going to be, and then getting upset that it wasn’t the same as the fantasy idea they made up in their heads. This movie is great as long as you’re in the demographic it was intended for. If you’re someone who has never played a video game in your life, and know nothing about Mortal Kombat, this movie is probably not for you. I think that should go without needing to be said, though.

Its cheesy but honestly amazing movie for what it is, especially coming from the oldschool one I loved as a kid. Literally just fight scene after fight scene for 2 straight hours. Thus, if you like the old school one you will like this, I can't wait for the next movie in the series too.

Viewers interested in martial-arts action are bound to find the combat-with-a-C to be lackluster in that way that hand-to-hand fighting tends to be when it gets drowned out by digital effects. More likely to have fun with this latest Mortal Kombat are Sam Raimi enthusiasts who can appreciate the comedy in over-the-top geysers of fake blood, which the film unleashes with increasing regularity as the fights get more serious.

A B-movie that would benefit immensely from some wit in the script and charisma in the cast, it’s not as aggressively hacky as P.W.S.A.’s oeuvre, but it runs into problems he didn’t face in 1995: Namely, the bar has been raised quite a bit for movies in which teams of superpowered young people have fights to save the universe.

Mortal Kombat is within its rights taking the material semi-seriously, but does so by taking itself a little too seriously, given the rote nature of translating the game -- whatever its ongoing popularity in that form -- to the screen.

In fairness, you can say that Mortal Kombat is pretty much exactly what you expect it to be. It’s clearly meant as the first film in a renewed franchise. But for me, it’s game over.

A reboot of the universe and the story, based on the popular video game, with the will and the money to make things right. Cheesy but funny, the movie introduce a new character (probably because there's not enough good characters in the franchise) and try to give the old ones some reality. Unfortunately, there's is no real Mortal Kombat here, despite some good fights scenes. and no real character development, as it seems to be only the beginning of the story. But there is at least a good piece of entertainment.

I dislike this movie because of how slow and generic it is; it's in no way better than the older MK film, but it is fun to watch. 6/10, Stay over there.
