The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is a delightful all-ages adventure with the potential to reach even the most cynical and weary of us.

The filmmakers even manage to introduce a tune as devastatingly ear-wormy as the original’s Everything Is Awesome, even though its title (Catchy Song) betrays the fact that everyone here is working both a little too hard, and not quite hard enough.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part doesn’t quite match the original’s spark and creativity, but it’s a worthy chapter in the ever-expanding Lego movie universe.

The childlike, free-associative playfulness is now underscored by a palpable hunger to be the cleverest and coolest kids’ movie on the block, a hunger that weighs down Lord and Miller’s plenty-smart silliness.

While cute, enormously entertaining and stuffed with more jokes than you can count, is only a half-step up. Partly, that’s a problem that’s built into its very premise.

The sci-fi settings – dystopian grit-scape, rainbow-coloured cosmos – are dazzlers; the satire is playful not snarky; and as you’d expect, several unexpected cameos. It doesn’t sweat too hard to appease both kids and adults – the latter’s pain much felt in a scene you might describe as product mis-placement.

It’s not just emotion and creative innovation that feels MIA in this installment. The film acts as though it’s edgy, but lacks real bite.

The Lego movie two the second part is it good continuation of where we left off the first Lego movie and the Lego movie two follows the main character emmet and his friends but now it's like emmet has to save his friends and has to go through space and time to save them but it has like such a good twist when you find out the villain of the movie was not really the villain the real villain was really emmet from the future where he hit a asteroid and crashed landed and decided to change his name to Rex which I did see some similarities like back to the future and Chris Pratt movie Jurassic World because I saw his character Owen from Jurassic World with the Raptors and I was in shock when you see wildstyle real hair and you see Bruce Willis in the vans would that like a call out to die hard but the Lego movie two the second part just had such good acting good story good music good like everything that you wanted for a sequel and it was funny it was just awesome it was a perfect movie for the family to watch and it has such a good message about when you get older that's why I like about the Lego movies cause they have creative storytelling and the story has so much meaning and has so much feeling on how you play with the Legos

The Lego Movie 2 remains visually solid and retains the tactile charm of its Lego aesthetic, but the central framing device, that the animated adventure reflects kids playing with Lego, feels noticeably exhausted compared to the first film. While the sequel tries to pivot into a new plot, it is inevitably working against the novelty and surprise the original already delivered. The story is serviceable, yet it introduces many ideas and elements that feel underused, creating a setup heavy experience with limited payoff. Nothing is outright terrible, but the result rarely rises above “fine,” lacking the spark that made the first film feel genuinely fresh.

Let's return to the world of small, plastic, animated building blocks, where imagination rules and the fourth wall is occasionally bumped, elbowed and/or run straight through like a freshly-wiped sliding glass door. Unfortunately, The Lego Movie 2 falls into a standard sequel trap: it's neither as fresh, nor as inspired, as the original. In the first film, half the fun came from learning the rules of the world, admiring a string of wildly different settings and identifying the slew of cheeky, energetic celebrity cameos in a long parade of licensed characters. Every one of those elements is clamped down, if not outright eliminated, in the follow-up. It's funny, it's entertaining, there's a lot of winks for the parents and silly slapstick bits for the kids, but as a whole it's much more forced and cramped. Although we spend time exploring new galaxies, meeting alien queens and defending post-apocalyptic landscapes, the universe feels smaller and far less diverse. The same voice actors reprise the same roles for the same cameos, but this time it's more of an obligation and less of a spontaneous surprise. "I know that guy!" becomes "I remember that guy." I don't want to sound too harsh here, because the story does represent a logical continuation of simmering themes that were present in the original, and the music is once again a major highlight, but it's not a great sign when the film's most clever, imaginative scene takes place during the credits. Maybe a growing pain for the franchise; there's still plenty of fertile ground here, but it's going to take a little more effort to re-bottle that jolt of lightning.

As someone who watched the previous movies to this one. I can say that this movie is a joke to the Lego movie franchise. Bad story, boring characters, horrible soundtrack, awful humour. Compared to The Lego movie 1 and The Lego Batman movie This film is really bad
